The seating is for 2 hours, and you can have unlimited refills of tea and coffee, but additional charges apply for anything beyond the second cup. You can choose from 5 types of tea leaves. There are 5 savory items, 9 sweets, and you also get Hotel Okura's famous (apparently) French toast and 2 types of scones. Each savory and sweet item is small, but surprisingly filling. The size was easy to eat, so personally, I appreciated this size. The first person who explained about the afternoon tea was brief, but the next person who came to explain went into detail about the differences in tea leaves. The combination of shiitake mushrooms cooked in tonkotsu broth, ginger rice, and Hollandaise sauce was quite interesting! The service was polite, and the bread was delicious. Occasionally, treat yourself to a luxurious breakfast. I enjoyed a delicious Hakata Eggs Benedict this morning, with rich eggs and cheese. The meat was also delicious. The buffet was impressive too. They had salmon, prosciutto, and they even toasted the bread on the spot. The yogurt tasted surprisingly different and delicious. I haven't visited Hotel Okura much in the past, but I went for the first time after visiting Yoshizuka Unagi. This time, I ordered the traditional French toast set at Okura. The set comes with French toast, fruits, and coffee. The surface of the French toast is nicely browned, but it has a soft and fluffy texture. It was very delicious when eaten warm with butter and maple syrup on top.

On the second day in Fukuoka, I had decided to have the "original Hakata mentaiko rice bowl" for breakfast. I checked on Tabelog and saw that the restaurant opened at 7:00 in the morning. I left the hotel to head to the restaurant, and it was hot even in the morning. After walking for 7-8 minutes, I arrived at the restaurant, but to my surprise, it was not open yet. There was a notice on the door saying that the opening hours had changed due to the new coronavirus. The new opening time was 9:00. It would be difficult to come back at 9:00, so I decided to go back to the hotel. I ended up having breakfast at the hotel's "Old Dining Camellia". Due to the coronavirus, they were serving a set meal with both Japanese and Western dishes. The Japanese set meal seemed to be made at the hotel's Yamazato restaurant. The food was delicious and well-prepared. It included sesame mackerel, mentaiko, konjac stew, small dried fish, tofu, red salmon, fish cake, rolled omelette, pickled plum, radish and tsukune and pumpkin stew, hijiki seaweed, pickles, rice, and miso soup. Let's start by quenching our thirst with "Daikoku". It is a beer with a solid and robust feel, you can also feel its strength. Perhaps it is named after the "Daikoku" flow of the Hakata Yamakasa festival in this area? The roast chicken is carefully carved by the staff. Grilled dishes and Western-style classics are popular with children. The Chinese cabbage and pork shabu-shabu hot pot has a light broth, easy-to-eat pork, and the refreshing taste of Chinese cabbage that helps cleanse your palate with beer. The variety of dishes was good, with plenty of desserts although I'm not a fan of sweets so I skipped those. I tried dishes like shrimp ajillo, squid, salt-grilled fish, and eggplant. The salmon rice bowl and grapefruit juice were also tasty. Overall, it was okay for the price, but compared to Nishitetsu Grand Hotel, it's a bit more expensive and the time limit might not be ideal for those who enjoy chatting during meals.
