<Introduction> Last week was busy so I couldn't have lunch. Today, I felt like having some intense fish-based ramen, so I decided to visit this famous shop known for its boiled fish ramen, 'Chuka Soba Konoki'. I'm not very knowledgeable about ramen, but when it's called a famous shop, I can't help but want to try it out. I got off at Higashi-Nakano Station, even though Ochiai Station is actually closer, due to transfer connections. I walked along a major street from the west exit and turned right halfway, arriving in about 10 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes before opening time and there was no line. Maybe it doesn't get crowded early due to its location. I wandered around the area and arrived a little before opening time to find two people waiting in line. The line is on the right side facing the shop, as indicated at the entrance. I bought my meal ticket right away, opting for the classic boiled fish ramen and was tempted by the seasoned egg, but I stayed true to my choice and ordered rice. I got some water from the water dispenser near the entrance and waited for a bit.
<Tasting> I was overwhelmed by the sight of a large amount of boiled fish in a big sieve, and in about 5 minutes, my bowl was served. The color is so intense! You can tell that a lot of boiled fish is used just by looking at it. I scooped up some soup with a large spoon and took a sip... it's deliciously salty! The saltiness really stands out! At the same time, the umami and unique aroma of the boiled fish gently waft through my nose. The soup is light, so it goes down smoothly and you can easily drink it up. Next, the noodles... the firmness of the thin noodles cooked al dente is delightful! This type of noodle really complements boiled fish ramen. There are two slices of chicken breast and pork loin char siu, both cooked tender and moist. They go perfectly with the soup, and the rice is also very satisfying.
<Conclusion> I enjoyed the crunchy texture of the onions while finishing up the soup. It was a bowl that delivered the umami of the boiled fish while being light and easy to drink. The more I drank, the more I got hooked. It's nice that two slices of char siu come as standard. Even though it's a famous shop, it doesn't get too crowded right after opening, so if you're curious, I recommend visiting early.
