When it comes to Hakata gourmet, ramen, gyoza, motsunabe, and yatai are popular, but we must not forget about "mizutaki." The best place to eat mizutaki is definitely at Hanamidori. Normally, you need to make a reservation to dine here due to the popularity, but luckily we were able to walk in. We were seated at a counter seat by the window, which was more calming than the tables in the center of the restaurant. The menu is simple, with a basic mizutaki course for 3,000 yen and two higher courses with additional items. You can also order side dishes and various chicken dishes individually. Today, we ordered the charcoal-grilled chicken and the basic course. The service staff, who were well-trained (college students working part-time), provided detailed explanations and assistance with setting up the pot and adding the chicken. First, we heated the pot on the IH stove, added a little seasoning to the boiling water, poured in the special soup, and enjoyed the flavor of the soup. Then, we added chicken and tsukune, and when it was ready, we were told, "Please add the vegetables yourself." We leisurely enjoyed the hot pot, and when it was the right time, the service staff came over again to ask if we wanted udon or okayu. Today, we chose okayu, and they added rice, egg, and condiments, allowing us to experience fullness and satisfaction. The basic course up to this point for 3,000 yen is definitely worth it.
