It's the first day of my trip to Fukuoka in June, on a Friday afternoon. I was thinking about where to have lunch while riding the Shinkansen, but since I have dinner plans at Koutan later in the evening, I decided to awaken my appetite here. I arrived before 12 o'clock and there were still seats available. When I tried to sit down, I was told to buy a meal ticket. I had decided on the mapo tofu, so I purchased the weekly lunch set B from the ticket machine. It cost 890 yen. The weekly lunch set A was "pork with sour and spicy sauce", the daily special lunch was "shrimp, tomato, and egg", and there were options like the daily special lunch with a small portion of set A or B, or a combination of A and B, and a noodle set. When I handed the ticket to the staff, I was guided to a small private room. There were four tables for two people each, and it seemed like they set up the private rooms for individuals during lunchtime. The dishes were ready before 12 o'clock, and soon mapo tofu, soup, grilled dumplings, macaroni salad, rice with pickled vegetables, and dessert were served. It was a generous portion. The soup was warm since it seemed to be prepared in advance, and the mapo tofu wasn't piping hot, but it had a strong flavor of Sichuan pepper, spicy and numbing, making the rice go down easily. It was not extremely spicy, but rather a deliciously spicy and numbing sensation, a pleasantly spicy heat. I started to sweat a little. The macaroni salad as a side dish was also tasty. The fried dumplings turned out to be shrimp dumplings. Thank you for the meal. When I left after 12 o'clock, there were customers waiting. I felt my mouth was still hot for a while, and then I suddenly realized I forgot to eat the dessert.
