It's been a while since I noticed that the shape of the buttons on the table has changed, making it less likely for me to accidentally touch them. It seems like the restaurant has evolved while maintaining its traditional charm. I suddenly remembered that I had never tried Mont Blanc at this restaurant before, and the one I had was as expected, with a Japanese twist. Removing the crispy layer and having two Japanese chestnuts on top and bottom was a clever and enjoyable change.

During the free time before lunch on a sightseeing trip in Kyoto, we decided to stop by this cafe. I ordered the special blend coffee "Ryunosuke" for 580 yen, while my companion ordered an iced coffee for the same price. It truly lived up to its reputation as a top-notch cafe. The coffee was delicious, and it lifted my spirits as I had been avoiding coffee due to recent health issues.

The morning and lunch for a hangover day. In the scorching heat, it's great to have a light meal and drink iced coffee. This place is a lifesaver, offering generous portions at reasonable prices. They also have a mini lunch option, perfect for those who want to try different dishes. I ordered the classic spaghetti Napolitan in mini size, and it was delicious and satisfying. Their iced coffee is also a must-try, it's so good and easy to drink!

14:09 All dishes were served.

Both the ice cafe au lait and hot sandwich were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

In Kyoto, there is a famous café where as soon as you enter, there is a takeout area with cakes and then further inside, there is a dining area with separate non-smoking and smoking sections. More than half of the customers are foreign tourists. The exterior is not particularly impressive, but the interior has a retro-modern feel, stylish yet somehow nostalgic. I ordered a hot coffee and a Kyoto-style mousse cake called "Kyoto-style Muu". It was a hot day and I was tempted by the shaved ice and ice cream, but this cake with matcha mousse and cream inside a sweet bean paste looked appealing. I couldn't cut it neatly, but the combination of chewy and fluffy textures in the cake was interesting and very delicious.

I visited the restaurant in the morning as they open at 7 am and it was perfect for starting the day with some sightseeing. They had a wide variety of set menus with generous portions. The coffee was also delicious. The restaurant is conveniently located near the Shijo bus stop, making it a great choice for those who want to start their day early.

I arrived in Kyoto early in the morning and went to this restaurant that opens at 7:00 am. I ordered the "special hot dog and iced coffee." The interior of the restaurant is spacious and relaxing, with around 70 seats. There are separate sections for smoking and non-smoking. The hot dog was delicious and filling, and I had a peaceful and enjoyable time there. Thank you for the meal, and thank you very much.

Visited the renowned cafe "Hyakumeiten" selected in the 2022 Tabelog ranking, congratulations! Morning curry set (homemade chicken curry) with salad for 1,480 yen * Iced coffee. Good morning! It's the final day in Kyoto and I want to enjoy the Kyoto morning before leaving. I will be using a rental electric kickboard to move around, which is becoming more common in Kyoto. It's convenient as it's available in various locations in the city, including the hotel I stayed at. By registering on my smartphone, I can pay cashless and the fare is also affordable. It's truly the era we live in. Following High Coffee Shop, I will now introduce the morning at one of Kyoto's long-standing cafes, "Maeda Coffee." With several branches in the city, it is popular among locals. I will be enjoying the hearty morning curry at Maeda Coffee. Their homemade chicken curry, a hidden specialty, has a distinctive roux with vegetables blended in. The curry is rich and flavorful, with plenty of chicken well incorporated into the roux. It's moderately spicy and stimulates the stomach, giving a boost of energy. The morning set includes a salad and iced coffee. The salad dressing, Maeda Coffee's original vegetable dressing, is recommended. It's made from several grated vegetables, giving it a unique sourness. The iced coffee has a deep roasted, bitter taste. The morning at a long-standing cafe is truly satisfying. I recommend trying their homemade chicken curry, it's a must-try.

I headed east again on a shared bicycle and aimed for the last remaining top 100 soba restaurant in Kyoto Prefecture. I went to a place in Elai Alley, but it seemed to be closed. I couldn't quite figure out their business days and hours, but according to reviews, they should be open even during lunchtime. I'll have to try again another time. I cycled back west and went to another restaurant. It was around 11:50 AM and the place was about 70% full. I was seated at a table in the middle. It seems like this place is known for its hashed beef rice? I ordered a mini hashed beef rice and a mango soda for lunch. The mini hashed beef rice was okay. I remember a cafe in Kyoto that was known for its delicious curry, and I thought maybe all cafes in Kyoto have high-quality curry. But it seems that cafe was just exceptional. The hashed beef rice here wasn't that different. The mango soda was sweet and tasty. I paid 850 yen with a card. Now, I think I'll head to a sweets top 100 shop.

There is still plenty of time until the meeting, so let's take a break at a café. It seems to be a popular spot for tourists, but locals also seem to be enjoying their time here. The café is spacious, so the turnover seems to be good. Thanks to that, we were able to get in without waiting. However, it seems like there might be quite a wait on weekends. It's a popular spot! It's hot, so I ordered a Coffee Float with a unique Cappuccino soft serve on top. The coffee is delicious. The Cappuccino soft serve goes well with the coffee and milk flavors, making it very tasty. It's refreshing and easy to drink. I wanted to cool down and relax, so I ordered a hot coffee. The main item on the menu, Ryuunosuke Blend, has a bit too much acidity. Maybe it's because it's a blend for the summer? However, since they also have iced coffee, I intentionally ordered the hot blend during the hot summer. It would be nice if they had a strong and deep type with bitterness and richness, or a more elegant and rich type. This is a great spot to stop by if you're looking forward to trying the Coffee Float.

"Maeda Coffee," a long-established cafe founded in 1981 in Kyoto ❤️ I visited the main store in Muromachi, one of the 11 locations in Kyoto. The building, renovated from a kimono store, had an impressive and dignified exterior. When I visited, it was during the Gion Festival, one of Japan's three major festivals, and they were also selling shaved ice in front of the store ☺️ But without hesitation, I ordered a cream soda. I love cream soda at cafes! The sweetness of melon syrup and the rich vanilla ice cream were a delight! It was an extremely hot day, so I didn't just savor it, I drank it up like I was hydrating...haha. I had a great time at this wonderful cafe. Thank you for the meal!

On a holiday, I visited a café where there were about 4 groups waiting in line. I was able to enter after about 15 minutes. They didn't have decaf coffee, so I opted for a mixed juice float instead. It was sweet and delicious. The tonkatsu sandwich that other customers were ordering looked very voluminous and delicious.

I bought a takeout kakigori in front of a shop on the day of the Gion Festival. I was walking in the scorching heat and felt like I was going to die from heatstroke, but then I found this kakigori and it was amazing. The fluffy ice was delicious, and the mango yogurt had chunks of mango and a tasty mango sauce. The Uji matcha with red beans was also delicious, and the prices were 700 yen and 650 yen. I saw other stalls selling kakigori with fruit for around 1400 yen, so I was surprised by the reasonable prices here. I'm glad I found this place and I'll definitely come back next year to enjoy their kakigori again.

Within a 5-minute walk from Exit 22 of Shijo Station on the subway. When you pass through the historic building of a former kimono shop, the staff will confirm a few people and then guide you to your seat. Smoking is allowed, but there is a smoking and non-smoking section. The interior of the restaurant can get quite crowded, but with 100 seats, the turnover rate is quite fast. I had breakfast in the store scented with roasted coffee. As for the service, I have visited about 5 times, and I have the impression that there are many part-time staff members, including the same older sister from the past. I imagine the part-time staff members must be struggling more and more each year. The atmosphere is nice, though. ☑️ Blend Ryunosuke (¥580) Maeda's Neapolitan is reliable, but the coffee has an easy-to-approach taste. Soft acidity, heat, bitterness, bean flavor, and richness. My impression was of lingering acidity and richness in the aftertaste. It's rare to have shaved ice available in the morning.

As soon as you enter, there is a cake and coffee sales area, with seating at the back for dining in. The petite and friendly female owner guides you to your seat. Many regular customers were enjoying breakfast. It's summer, so there are customers enjoying shaved ice as well as those just having cake or coffee. The turnover is quite good due to the spacious interior. The cakes are a bit pricey, around 600 yen each. I was curious about the Balloon cake, listed as a specialty, so I tried the hot dog set. They provide two types of dressings and Tabasco. The seating consists of high sofas that make you lean forward.

I visited Maeda Coffee on Shokuyakushi Street for breakfast. It was my second time there, I think. I arrived before 8 am and although the tables were full, I didn't have to wait long as people who had finished their meals were leaving. The menu included a classic Roll Pan Sandwich set with salad, potato salad, egg mayo roll sandwich, ham roll sandwich, and the recommended Ryunosuke blend coffee. The coffee had a strong bitterness and acidity, typical of Kyoto coffee. The burnt edges of the roll pan were a nice touch, and the combination of sweet roll pan, egg mayo, and ham was delicious. The kitchen seemed a bit slow for the capacity of the place, so the waiting time from sitting down to leaving was about an hour, which might be too long for those looking for a quick breakfast. The walls were decorated with seasonal items, such as decorations for the Gion Festival at that time, which added a nice touch to the atmosphere. Overall, it was a satisfying breakfast experience.

Today's snack is "Maeda Coffee Muromachi Main Store" in Shijo Karasuma. When it comes to Gion Festival shaved ice, this is the place to go. As expected, there was a line. I was able to be seated in less than 30 minutes. Now, I'll have the "Shaved Ice Royal Milk Tea" please. Let's dig in. It's sweet and delicious. The aroma of black tea is strong. Thank you for the meal.

During the Gion Festival, the menu seemed to be limited compared to usual. Since they didn't have the matcha parfait I wanted, I decided to try the Napolitan that I've been wanting to eat at a cafe. Napolitan with a drink set for 1280 yen. I chose iced tea for the drink. The ingredients are cut large and there's plenty of them. It's quite oily and the noodles are thick, so it's very filling.

One of the famous coffee shops in Kyoto. I visited for lunch during work. This time, I had the lunch set with a mini roast beef bowl and straight tea. The roast beef bowl uses meat from Moritaya. The sweet sauce that coats the meat and the spicy kick of the radish sprouts go well together. The lunch set includes mini-sized food items like red miso hashed beef rice and sandwiches, along with a drink. It was quite crowded with mainly older customers during the weekday afternoon. Cakes and parfaits also seem to be popular.
