I finally visited a restaurant that I had been curious about for years. The lunch menu only had the Kubo Curry Plate for 1500 yen. I opted for extra rice (100 yen) and extra spiciness (no additional cost), choosing cilantro as the topping. They offer a plate where you can taste three different curries in one: 1) Spicy Chicken Curry 2) Chicken Cartilage and Green Onion Keema 3) Pumpkin Coconut Curry. I was worried if all three curries would fit on the plate, as I saw them piling up various side dishes. The plate they served was beautiful, with a small spoonful of spicy condiment on the side. The rice was a blend of Japanese and black rice, providing a colorful and textured experience. The tangy side dishes added to the visual appeal, but I felt they lacked in refreshing the palate, except for the onions. As for the curries, the pumpkin and coconut in curry 3 reminded me of Massaman curry, but I wished they had added bacon later to enhance the umami. Curry 2 had a unique aroma and smokiness from pan-frying, while curry 1 was the most delicious with a perfect balance of spiciness and flavor in the chicken. Despite some shortcomings and the price not feeling worth it, the food was delicious, with enjoyable textures and flavor variations, visually appealing, and overall recommended.

Kubokari Curry, located in Oguni, was recommended to me by a friend. I visited to cure my hangover with their curry plate featuring three types of curry. I chose the Spicy Chicken Curry with extra rice, which was delicious. The cilantro was a key accent. The Pumpkin Coconut Curry was a nice balance of spices, and the Onion Keema Curry was meaty and satisfying. The pickled vegetables on the side added a nice contrast of flavors. Next time, I'll definitely go for extra cilantro and extra spiciness. #Curry #OguniGourmet #KubokariCurryOguniBranch #SpicyCurry #KeemaCurry #CoconutCurry #Cilantro #Ethnic

On the last day in Fukuoka, I had lunch at "Kubokari" in Takamiya. I tried the "Kubokari Plate" which includes Spicy Chicken Curry, Chicken Cartilage and Green Onion Keema, and Pumpkin Coconut Curry. It's a beautiful curry. I'm not a fan of cilantro, so I asked for pea shoots instead. It's not as spicy as Osaka Spice Curry, but it's a curry that everyone can enjoy. It's delicious. I especially liked the Chicken Cartilage and Green Onion Keema.

I always enjoy the authentic spice curry here. The quality of the food is consistently high every time I visit. The owner cooks alone, so there may be a wait during busy times, but the wait is worth it for the delicious food. There is only one menu option, the Negi Keema Curry, which is absolutely delicious. It might even be in my top three favorite dishes.

We visited the restaurant around 1 pm with two people. We waited in line for about 10 minutes. We were led to a three-mat tatami room with two low tables placed. The menu only offered one dish, the "Kubo Curry Plate" (1,500 yen). Previous menu items like biryani were no longer available. We chose cilantro leaves as the topping instead of bean sprouts. The service at the restaurant was quiet and reserved, yet dignified. This atmosphere seemed to set the tone for the customers, who were generally well-behaved. The natural light diffused through the Showa-style patterned glass windows, gently illuminating the room. The pattern on the glass resembled scattered stars, a design known as "galaxy". It brought back nostalgic memories from childhood, as it's a rare sight nowadays. Some windows had vertical slats hung horizontally for shade, adding to the visual comfort. The "Kubo Curry Plate" was served about 28 minutes after ordering. It consisted of various items on a large plate, with rice in the center surrounded by three types of curry (Spicy Chicken Curry, Chicken Cartilage and Leek Keema Curry, Pumpkin and Coconut Curry) and side dishes. The Spicy Chicken Curry had a mild spiciness with a rich depth of flavor, complemented well by the cilantro leaves. The Chicken Cartilage and Leek Keema Curry stood out with its crunchy texture from the cartilage and leek, combined with a smoky flavor and a hint of cardamom and ginger. The Pumpkin and Coconut Curry had a thick, sweet flavor with a gentle richness. The colorful side dishes like pickled vegetables added a lively touch with their acidic flavor and crunchy texture. Visually, the variety of colors from the cabbage, carrots, cilantro leaves, pumpkin, and black rice made the dish vibrant and appealing.

Located about a 3-minute walk from Fukuoka Takamiya Station, this curry restaurant is on the first floor of an apartment building, giving it a cozy atmosphere. The interior has a counter, regular tables, and larger tables, but the space is a bit small. There is no parking lot, so you'll need to find parking nearby. I visited around noon on a weekend and was able to get a table right away. The menu only offers one type of curry, different from the one at the shop in Daimyo. When seated, you are asked about extras like bean sprouts and cilantro. The curry was served in about 5 minutes, with a plate featuring a mix of three kinds: Spicy Chicken, Keema, and Pumpkin Coconut Curry. The side dishes were also nicely presented. The Keema had a crispy texture from grilled chicken cartilage and scallions, giving it a smoky flavor more reminiscent of yakitori than curry. The Pumpkin Coconut Curry was creamy and sweet, with a gentle taste. The Spicy Chicken Curry had a good balance of spices and umami, which I believe is the highlight of this curry. It had a mild heat that was complemented well by the acidity of the side dishes like purple cabbage when mixed together. The curry sauce for the Spicy Chicken was light and went well with the blend of white and black rice. I had a regular portion of rice this time, but for adult men, I think a large portion would be more suitable. Each curry had its own unique flavor, making it a great plate of curry to enjoy multiple varieties at once.

I had a delicious curry the other day!! I enjoyed every bite from the first to the last. I went to Kubo Curry, recommended by curry lovers around me. Even my husband, who usually gives harsh reviews about meals, kept saying how delicious it was! The colorful dishes looked appetizing, and each side dish was tasty. The curry itself was flavorful with just the right amount of spices. I definitely want to go back to this place.

I visited for lunch on Saturday at 1 pm. I walked around Yakuin and Shirokane and saw three curry shops with long lines. Luckily, at Kubo Curry, I was able to sit at the counter right away without waiting. The counter seats might be a bit uncomfortable for people under 160cm tall. The menu has changed, now offering only one curry plate (¥1,500 including tax). You can also add options like extra rice (¥100 including tax), coriander or pea shoots (¥100 including tax), and extra spiciness (no extra charge). There are also drink options like beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and ginger ale. The menu board has disappeared since they now only offer one type of curry. The menu itself used to be pouches but now it's a neat booklet. It's a bit disappointing that you can no longer choose from two types of curry and biryani. The photo shows a large portion of rice. For adult men, a large portion is necessary to feel satisfied. The rice is a blend of black and uruchi rice. The chicken curry in the front is served with meat chunks that are a bit tough to chew, not very tender. You can enjoy different flavors with the three types of curry and side dishes. It would be a fun and delicious experience for first-time visitors. However, the desire to come back has decreased significantly due to the limited menu options. I noticed that there were only two staff members instead of three during lunchtime, and there may be reasons like price increases. It's a shame that the fun of sharing dishes with couples or groups of young women has diminished.

I have been waiting with about four people for a while, and the staff is managing everything alone, but they are very polite and efficient. It seems like you can only choose from one type of order. The smell of curry being made is very appetizing. Also, the balance of the three curry flavors and side dishes is exquisite and delicious!

The place seems to have been slightly renewed since the last time I visited. The store is cleaner and more stylish now. The interior walls have been repainted, and the old signatures are gone, replaced with new ones. The curry menu has also been updated, with the return of the curry plate as a standalone menu item, priced at a high 1,500 yen. The taste remains delicious as before, so all is well!

Kubo Curry Plate for 1500 yen. There is only one option with 3 side dishes, but the grilled chicken cartilage with green onion keyma was especially delicious. The rice portion was a bit small, so I should have gotten the large size. It's been a while since I had Kubo Curry, and I remember there used to be more choices...

I was worried if I could make it back in an hour for lunch, but I was in the mood for curry, so I decided to try a popular curry restaurant I had my eye on. There were only two groups waiting in the restaurant, so I was able to sit in the tatami room pretty quickly. The menu had only three types of curry, each priced at 1,500 yen. I waited for about 15 minutes. It seemed like there was only one manager in the restaurant. The appearance of the curry was artistic! The colors and vegetables were well presented. The rice seemed to be mixed grains. The curry was spicy and delicious. Each dish had a perfect balance. It was truly impressive. Thank you for the meal. It was a bit of a luxury, but you can use PayPay here, which is convenient.

Located in a small apartment on the back street, this restaurant always has a line outside! I heard they ran out of plates at one point, so I hesitated to go, but I found out they are still serving at the Oonamizu store. I went around 11:30 on a weekday and only waited about 10 minutes before getting in. The menu only has Kubo Curry plates, with the option to add cilantro or pea shoots on top. You can also add extra spiciness for free. The smell of spices inside the restaurant made my stomach growl...!! And then, I met the curry. It looked beautiful! The side dishes scattered around the edges of the plate were visually stunning. The curry was spicy and delicious!!! The blend of ancient rice was firm and paired well with the curry. The green onions and meat sautéed in sesame oil were fragrant and added a great touch! I remember when those were cartilage... haha. The back side had a coconut and pumpkin curry that was sweeter. Mixing in onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers added a tangy twist, making it interesting. The carrot salad was refreshing. Excitedly thinking about which combination to try next, it's a fun place to enjoy a meal. Thank you for the delicious meal! Exciting Curry Plate at Kubo Curry.

I went in without waiting and looked at the Lucky☆Menu, which only had one option, so I ordered the Kubo Curry Plate. It was a plate with three types of curry: Spicy Bone-in Chicken Curry, Chicken Cartilage and Green Onion Keema, and Pumpkin Coconut Curry. I topped it with cilantro.

I wanted to try a spiced curry, so I searched near the customer's house and found Kubo Curry! I've been curious about it for a while, so I decided to go. It was before lunchtime and there was some wait, about 15 minutes. But the spiced curry was delicious and had a gentle flavor.

On a Sunday lunchtime, I visited "Kubokari Okusunoten" located less than a 5-minute walk from Nishitetsu Takamiya Station. This is a famous spice curry restaurant in Fukuoka. Although they recently opened a branch in Daimyo, I decided to visit the main store. - Store: I arrived around 1:30 pm. The restaurant is located on the first floor of a Showa-era retro wooden apartment. There is a gravel parking lot in front of the store, and despite arriving slightly before lunchtime, there were already 7 people waiting outside. The smell of curry was enticing. Upon entering, there is a room with a refrigerator, rice, and alcohol storage which also serves as a waiting area. The back room is where the customers are seated. There are raised tatami seating on the right side, and counter seats and table seats on the left side. I was surprised to see a low table in the tatami seating area. The background music was by Sakanaction. The renovation of an apartment room gives it a unique atmosphere, and it feels cozy and relaxed. After waiting for about 40 minutes, I was seated at the counter. - Menu: The menu consists of the "Kubokari Plate" only. They confirm the amount of rice and toppings you want. I chose cilantro as a topping. They serve self-service water while you watch the cooking process in front of you. The staff efficiently prepared the dish, and it arrived in about 10 minutes. - Kubokari Plate (1,500 yen): The plate includes three types of curry and side dishes neatly arranged. - Spicy Bone-in Chicken Curry: The spiciness is mild, and you can feel the spices gradually. The chicken has a rich flavor and texture. - Chicken Cartilage and Green Onion Keema: The green onions are very fragrant as they are stir-fried upon order. The crunchy texture of the cartilage is pleasant. - Pumpkin Coconut Curry: The pumpkin's sweet and creamy flavor complements the other curries. - Rice: A blend of "Uruichi rice" and "black rice (ancient rice)", with the unique texture of black rice. - Side dishes and toppings: Carrots, purple cabbage, onions, etc., finely chopped. The acidity is mild, and you can enjoy the natural taste of the vegetables. Cilantro plays an important role and surprisingly complements the curry well. - Conclusion: I left the store around 2:30 pm, and there was still a line outside. Fukuoka has many spice curry restaurants, but this one stood out with its uniqueness. Personally, it was a perfect match for me. It was a dish that was pleasing to the eyes and the body, and the justified queue outside was understandable. It was a delightful meal.

I found information on SNS that the Kubo Curry Plate has made a comeback, so I went to visit during my day off. The store at Okusunagi has switched to only offering the Strong Style plate for 1500 yen, which is a bit more expensive than before, but the curry has been improved and updated, and it is truly delicious! Welcome back Kubo Curry Plate! On this day, instead of the usual background music, the staff had selected music from Taeko Onuki to Happy End. Cool vibes at this curry place! The BGM was a perfect match for the cozy atmosphere of the old Japanese house at the Okusunagi store. I'm happy that I was able to visit on such a good day. Thank you for the meal! ^_^

One of the famous curry restaurants in Fukuoka. I was a big fan of their chicken biryani and used to visit regularly, but recently they renewed their menu and now only offer plates. The popular plate has made a comeback and it seems like more customers are coming in! The plates were delicious too, but I was quite shocked that the biryani was gone. I really hope they bring back the biryani!

Pork curry for 1000 yen, extra spicy? Mutton curry for 1200 yen. The pork curry was extra spicy and left a lingering heat in my mouth even after finishing it, but it was a satisfying level of spiciness. I had to refill my water about 5 times. The curry sauce was easy to eat, like a Western-style curry that was familiar and delicious to Japanese taste. The meat was tasty, the portion size was good, and it had a satisfying amount to eat. It seems like the Kubo curry that I wanted to try before is no longer available, which is disappointing.

I went to my son's place with his girlfriend, so there were four of us. We arrived on Sunday before noon and couldn't find parking, so we parked at a nearby coin parking lot. The apartment was small, but the menu was stylish. I recommend the salt chicken and aged vinegar pork dishes, they were really good. The lamb and biryani dishes were also recommended, they were unique and delicious. I tried fresh coriander for the first time and it was great. It was a trendy and delicious restaurant with young people. It was a stimulating and enjoyable experience. Thank you for the meal. They also packed the leftovers in a stylish way for takeout, which was much appreciated. Many people were also getting takeout.

It's been a while since I visited Kubo Curry. Despite the heat, I rode my bike to get there. Before the pandemic, they used to say "Plate!" but today I went for the Salted Chicken Curry! I relaxed in the clean and retro Showa-era interior while waiting for my order. I listened to the quiet background music and observed the steady flow of customers, even though there was no wait. In about 5 minutes, the Salted Chicken Curry arrived! I savored the tenderly cooked salted chicken (chicken wings) by hand. Delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed the dish, mixing the boneless chicken with coriander and others until I finished it all. There are many curry restaurants in Fukuoka, but this place feels like home to me. Thank you for the meal! I will visit again soon! ^_^
