Passing through a bustling area of restaurants even on weekday evenings, the restaurant is situated in a slightly calmer area just across Kannei Street. Starting from Hiroshima Okonomi Village in 1992, the restaurant opened in Shinbashi in 2005. Efforts were made to reproduce the taste of Hiroshima by having custom-made noodles from a noodle factory in Tokyo, resulting in becoming a renowned restaurant that requires reservations even on weekdays, despite being slightly off the bustling area of Shinbashi. Even in the midst of busyness, the friendly smiles are never forgotten. This might also be a reason for its popularity. It is a restaurant that continues to convey authentic okonomiyaki in Tokyo.

I had a bowl of Nikudama soba, which cost 900 yen. It was filling and delicious with large leaves and grated tororo kelp. It was still not crowded around 12:10, but by 12:30 it was packed. It takes a bit of time to cook after ordering because they cook it fresh.

Time: a little after 13:00 Crowdedness: 50% Food eaten: Meat and egg soba 1.5 Parking lot: Probably none Impression: I felt like eating Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, so I visited this place. It seemed to be a popular spot, as it was bustling with customers when I arrived towards the end of lunchtime. First, a large glass of water was brought to the table, which was much appreciated after arriving in the scorching heat. I ordered the meat and egg soba 1.5, and it was quickly placed on the grill. The chef's skillful and efficient cooking was enjoyable to watch. The soba noodles seemed to be custom-made, resembling straight noodles before being cooked. Halfway through, tororo kombu and large perilla leaves were added. The okonomiyaki was ready in about 10 minutes. The combination of chewy dough, moist cabbage, and crispy noodles was delightful. The sauce was not overly generous, but it had a strong flavor. I agreed with the advice to add mayonnaise halfway through eating. The refreshing perilla leaves that came out halfway through helped cleanse the palate. Personally, I prefer noodles with a bit more crunch, but it was a delicious Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki that I hadn't had in a while. Next time, I'll go for the double portion.

I visited for the first time. The cabbage-filled okonomiyaki was delicious and I didn't feel bloated at all. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was filled with Hiroshima dialect, making me feel like I was in Hiroshima even though I was in Tokyo. If I ever crave Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki again, I would definitely want to go back to this restaurant.

I visited the Hiroshima okonomiyaki restaurant "Sonia" in Shinbashi. I arrived around 12 PM on a weekday and was lucky to be seated right away at the counter. I ordered the meatball soba for lunch. I watched as the Hiroshima okonomiyaki was cooked on the griddle in front of me, and after about 10 minutes, it was served on a plate. At this restaurant, you can only order mayonnaise after eating half of the okonomiyaki, so I tried it plain first. The noodles were thin and soft, and the large leaf inside added a refreshing touch. I ordered mayonnaise halfway through, and it definitely complemented the okonomiyaki well. I finished it all quickly and wished I had ordered 1.5 times the soba.

It was a very delicious restaurant specializing in Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. In addition to okonomiyaki, there were many other Hiroshima-style dishes that were all delicious. The speed at which drinks were served was also impressive, and I was very satisfied. I would like to visit again.

Today, I went to work alone. On days like this, when I avoid cooking that leaves a smell, I decide to go out for lunch. Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki "Sonia". When I checked my own reviews, the last time I went was in 2011, so it's been 12 years. I've been transferred to Osaka, worked in Toranomon, and then the pandemic hit. That's how the past 12 years have been. I arrived just after 11:30 am to catch the opening, but it was already almost full. I managed to get in without waiting. I ordered the basic meat and egg soba for 900 yen and added a half-cooked fried egg for 100 yen, making it a total of 1,000 yen. It's a popular restaurant known for its delicious teppanyaki at night. Come to think of it, this might be my first time having lunch here. Sonia is a popular restaurant with autographs of celebrities covering the walls, and it has been listed as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog several times in the past. Okonomiyaki are being cooked one after another on the teppan grill right in front of me. As someone from Osaka, the culture of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki is different, but we both share a love for flour-based dishes and teppanyaki. The staff cooked it just right for me, and the okonomiyaki was placed in front of me. I first broke into the half-cooked fried egg with my chopsticks. The yolk flowed out gently. I got so engrossed in taking pictures of the egg that I almost forgot to eat. Finally, I took a bite. The thin yakisoba noodles were mixed with plenty of vegetables like bean sprouts and cabbage, and crispy pork. All of this was topped with Otafuku sauce. It was an amazing dish with no flaws. I changed the flavor halfway through by asking for mayonnaise to be added. This was a free service. While savoring the egg, I continued to enjoy the okonomiyaki with a good balance of flavors. In Osaka, okonomiyaki with yakisoba inside is called "modern-yaki". However, in Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, it already includes soba noodles by default, which makes it an interesting food due to the cultural differences. When I was transferred to Osaka, I went on several trips to Hiroshima and enjoyed delicious Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. I nostalgically remembered, "I was young and had so much fun back then." As I left the restaurant, my clothes were inevitably enveloped in the pleasant smell of sauce and teppanyaki.

I used to live nearby this restaurant 4.5 years ago and have visited a few times, but I moved away so it had been a while since my last visit. Whenever I try Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki at other places, I always think of this restaurant and want to come back. I ordered the Sonia-yaki Young Man and shared it with another person. Both types were delicious, but personally, the Young Man was the best. The balance of noodles, egg, cheese, mochi, and shiso was exquisite and made me smile. It's a delicious taste that becomes addictive. I have tried Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki at other famous restaurants, but none of them compare to the deliciousness here. Moreover, the service was excellent without cutting any corners. The staff seemed busy, so when I was waiting for a glass of water after the meal, the cook noticed and brought it to our table, which was surprising. I was completely satisfied with the taste, service, and atmosphere, and even though it's a bit far, I'm glad I came to eat here. If I ever crave Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki again, I will definitely come back here.

■Shop Information When it comes to Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki in Shinbashi, Sonia is the place to go. The atmosphere is welcoming even for solo diners. There are both table and counter seats, but if you're looking for a lively experience, I recommend sitting at the counter. ■What I Ate - Hormone (¥900) - Negiyaki (¥1000) - Stewed tendons (¥600) - Sonia-yaki (¥1650) One of the best things about this place is how efficient they are. The speed at which the food is served is incredibly fast, yet it's still delicious. The portions are generous, and the vegetables have a rich flavor with a hint of sweetness. Personally, I might like this place more than Yasho or Okotarou. Plus, you can't stop talking about Hiroshima Carp with the staff. If you're a Carp fan or a fan of okonomiyaki, this place is highly recommended. On the Instagram account "Nonaru Danshi no Tokyo Lunch Meshi" with 70,000 followers, delicious food from Tokyo and various places across the country is being introduced!

Sonia @ Shiodome Sonia Yaki ¥1650, bottled beer (medium) ¥730, otoshi (appetizer) ¥100 I impulsively went to a popular restaurant without a reservation. Even though they were fully booked, they kindly seated me at the end of the counter since I was dining alone! The Sonia Yaki was crispy with a chewy texture, topped with plenty of green onions and a refreshing aroma of shiso leaves, a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. I finished it without mayo in the well-balanced sauce. Thank you for the delicious meal. #Shinbashi #ShinbashiLunch #Sonia #HiroshimaYaki #SoniaYaki #TabelogTop100

Today's lunch at Poteran Chi: [First time] I think this is the first time I've eaten okonomiyaki so carefully and politely. I can only eat half of the mayo and the amount is predetermined. This restaurant originally started in Hiroshima's Okonomi Village and expanded to Tokyo. When I looked it up, Okonomi Village is not a town name, but an area where many okonomiyaki restaurants are gathered. If I ever go to Hiroshima, I'd like to try it out. When looking at the menu, it states that mayo should be eaten halfway through. As someone who hates okonomiyaki restaurants that don't allow mayo, I feel a bit uneasy, but I can't back out now. So, I decided to order the double meatball soba. Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki is cut in a grid pattern, which is different from the mainstream in Kansai. By the way, I heard that if you cut it in a cross in front of a Kansai person, they would say, "Isn't that a pizza?" so be careful! It's been a while since I ate okonomiyaki without mayo, but the noodles have a strong sauce flavor and taste similar to yakisoba, which is delicious. The addition of large leaves and grated yam also gives it a Japanese flavor. Maybe if I had put mayo on it, I wouldn't have noticed these flavors being overpowered. After finishing half of it, I asked the staff for mayo, and they directly put mayo from behind the kitchen. I knew from watching other customers that the amount of mayo depends on the staff, so when it was my turn, I asked for a little extra mayo. The mayo balances out the strong sauce of okonomi sauce, creating the perfect balance. In the past, I would just add mayo when it ran out, but this time, since the amount was limited, I ate the surface and noodles in a balanced way. It's the first time I've eaten so carefully and politely. I thought it was okay to eat without mayo at first, but in the end, I knew I would end up putting mayo on it. I finished the meal. There were many autographed color papers of famous people on the wall. I wonder who the talent was on the poster at the entrance. I think it's been over 20 years. This Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki restaurant has been here for a long time. It's located in a basement on a side street between Shinbashi and Onarimon, close to Onarimon Station. It's loved by locals (Shinbashi, Onarimon) and on Saturdays during the day, it's bustling with nearby residents. When I first tried it, I also had the oyster okonomiyaki and have been a fan ever since. They also offer takeout, and somehow, this place is my favorite. I recently visited alone at the counter. I ordered the lunch set with soba for 950 yen and added a half-cooked egg for 100 yen. The food was cooked quickly on the hot plate in front of me. The egg was mine, and I waited eagerly for it. The counter seating right in front of the hot plate is like an arena, and waiting there is enjoyable. The okonomiyaki was served on a hot plate, and I could eat it directly from there (though I had it transferred to a plate as I wasn't confident in eating directly from the hot plate). It was delicious with plenty of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki vegetables. The noodles were plentiful, and the table sauce (Otafuku sauce) was a nice addition. I quickly finished half of it. The waiter then brought over mayonnaise, which was also delicious. I remember the rule of finishing half of the okonomiyaki before calling for mayonnaise. The staff were friendly and attentive. I didn't have beer as I had work later, but I would love to try the draft beer next time. The bill can be paid with various payment methods including PayPay and QR code. I will definitely visit again. Takeout orders can also be made by phone in advance.

I visited during lunchtime on a regular day. It was my first visit to Sonia, a popular okonomiyaki restaurant that I had been wanting to try for a while. Lunch service starts at 11:30 am, and I was able to sit at the counter right in front of the teppan grill. I ordered the Meatball Soba with Half-Cooked Egg Topping for 1250 yen. For an additional 250 yen, you can choose either soba or udon noodles. There were many topping options available, but I went with the classic egg topping. The lunch rush was quite busy, and as soon as they asked how many people were in our group, they started preparing the okonomiyaki. Watching the okonomiyaki being cooked right in front of me on the teppan grill was impressive. Lunch felt like a quick affair, with the okonomiyaki being ready in about 5 to 10 minutes, which seems to be popular among office workers. The Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki was loaded with plenty of spring cabbage and soba noodles. It was quite filling, even for men. The addition of shiso leaves inside gave it a refreshing taste. Lunch was a good deal, but I feel like to truly appreciate the flavors, it might be better to visit for dinner. I would like to try the seafood Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki next time.

Located a 7-minute walk south from Torimori exit of Shinbashi Station, I visited the authentic Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki restaurant "Sonia". Sonia is a popular restaurant from Hiroshima that expanded to Tokyo Shinbashi in 2005. They are known for serving genuine Hiroshima flavors, and have gained high popularity among the salarymen in Shinbashi for both lunch and dinner. Originally located in Hiroshima's Okonomi Village, the mother runs the business in Tokyo Shinbashi, while the son operates in Hiroshima. The restaurant has a counter with 7 seats and table seating. The interior is decorated with Hiroshima Carp goods and signatures, and Hiroshima Carp games are shown on the TV, giving the restaurant a Hiroshima-themed atmosphere. [Items I tried this time] Sonia-yaki (soba) - 1,650 yen Extra-large helping of shiso leaves, topped with a half-cooked egg Sonia-yaki includes squid tempura, green onions, pork, eggs, and vegetables, with the option to choose soba or udon. Sonia always includes a generous amount of shiso leaves in their okonomiyaki, and I recommend adding extra shiso leaves as a topping. The vegetables inside are cooked just right, not too rare or overcooked, and the green onions on top are fresh and crunchy. The shiso leaves add a fluffy presence to the dish, complementing the soba noodles. The harmony of the classic Hiroshima okonomiyaki sauce "Otafuku Sauce" can be enjoyed as well. Thank you for the meal! ******************** Thank you very much for reading the review until the end. Your support through follows, likes, and saving the restaurant is what keeps the reviews going. I watched a drama featuring Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and suddenly had a craving for it, so I searched and found a restaurant a bit away from the bustling area of Shinbashi. Upon entering, I was informed that they only accept customers with reservations, indicating that it is a very popular place. The clientele ranged from local regulars to international visitors. The ordering system involved writing down your choices on a piece of paper, and for additional orders, you needed to get a new paper and add to it. Everything I tried was delicious, especially the buttered corn appetizer which I really enjoyed. The okonomiyaki, made with soba noodles, was also very tasty and they served it already cut into pieces, making it easy to eat. Just be careful not to order too many appetizers as they are quite filling!

Visited on a Friday night. If you arrive about an hour before closing, it's not crowded even on a Friday. Had a small bottle of beer while ordering food. The simmered beef tendon was tender and well-cooked. The beef tendon and konjac were delicious. The sauce had a strong acidity. The potato cheese okonomiyaki is a popular dish at okonomiyaki restaurants. It goes well with alcohol. The Sonia Super Deluxe had a luxurious topping that matched its name. I chose soba noodles for this dish. It was a joy to finish it all by myself. It's nice that okonomiyaki restaurants end with okonomiyaki. Thank you for the meal. The bill was around 5,000 yen and I was satisfied.

I had heard rumors that Sonia-san's restaurant was famous, so I finally had the chance to go. The place was almost full, mostly with male customers. It truly lived up to its reputation as a popular spot. As for the okonomiyaki, to be honest, it didn't really impress me that much. Personally, I prefer the type that is packed with lots of soba noodles.

Butadama Soba 1.5 and Yasai 1.5 have quite a large volume. It was delicious, though there was a lot. Whenever I go on a business trip to Hiroshima, I eat at various places, and this place is a bit different from the famous Micchan, more like a place loved by the locals in the back alleys of Hiroshima. Sorry if it's hard to understand. Recommended for those who want to eat plenty of vegetables. It's better to ask for mayonnaise halfway through.
