The sweets I received at the clothing store were from this shop. As a big fan of Japanese sweets, I have to say, "Oh, delicious." The sweet summer orange flavor is refreshing and the red bean paste is very smooth and extremely delicious. I would love to visit the shop when I go to Kyoto.

A Kyoto rice cracker with plenty of black beans, peas, and broad beans, baked to a crispy finish with a hint of salt for a satisfying crunch.
Haneru Usagi - Otsukimi Oshiruko (Seasonal Limited Edition) - 432 yen (tax included)
When hot water is poured over it, a fragrant red bean and wasanbon sweet soup reveals a moon-shaped jelly inside. Thank you for the delicious treats, Kameya Yoshinaga Honten!

I visited the main store of Kameya Yoshinaga in Kyoto. Among various Japanese sweets, I purchased a sweet called "Wajiro no Sato". Inside the small packaging, there are chestnut-shaped sweets that resemble chestnuts. It is a Japanese sweet that allows you to savor the taste and aroma of chestnuts. It is easy to eat and well baked, so it seems like a sweet that can last for a while. I would like to try other Japanese sweets next time.

I visited in the early evening on a weekday. I was lured in by the beautiful atmosphere of the shop, and once inside, I found many cute Japanese sweets! Most of them seemed to have a shelf life of about two weeks. They also had individual servings available, so it seemed like a good option for personal enjoyment.

I enjoyed a sweet called "Greeting Fire" for the beginning of autumn. It not only contained kudzu starch cake but also a pear puree, giving it a unique flavor. It was a delightful treat to enjoy the taste of autumn fruits a little early.

Revisit 2023.07.1. Purpose of visit - Selected as the 7th shop on the 2nd day of Kyoto trip. 2. Shop information - Genre on Tabelog: Japanese sweets - Established in 1803, the renowned confectionery shop "Kameya Yoshinaga" was destroyed by a fire. The then head clerk, Fumihira, founded the shop in a form of division of the business. The first generation sought quality water and chose the location of Shijo Sagai, where they have been operating since. - Business hours: 09:30-18:00 (Tea room: 11:00-17:00) - Regular holiday: Open all year round (except January 1st to 3rd) - Number of seats: 4 seats 3. Crowdedness on the day - Visited around 15:15 on a weekday, with 2 previous customers and no subsequent customers. 4. Customer service - Response according to the manual 5. Purchased items: - Slice yokan (passion fruit) 594 yen - Slice yokan (red bean butter) 540 yen The sheet-shaped yokan can be made into a hot "red bean butter toast" when placed on bread and baked. Each bag contains 2 slices, and two types were purchased. The "red bean butter" has red bean paste yokan with Okinawan salted butter and topped with poppy seeds. It is easy to eat by placing it on bread, toasting it in a toaster until the bread turns golden brown, and the yokan bubbles. It is a delicious product like freshly baked "anpan." Thank you for the meal.

When you open the wrapping paper with the floats of the Gion Festival, you find baked sweets with fireworks and floats depicted on them. Each of the five pieces has a different theme. They are made with ancient wheat and use natural cane sugar for a gentle sweetness. The hidden flavor is Okinawan salt, showing their attention to detail. These are elegant summer sweets.

Tobata Gyokuhi ¥1100. I also had condensed milk on top. The ice wasn't fluffy, but rather crunchy. Not like shaved ice. Being a traditional Japanese sweets shop, the white mochi topping was deliciously chewy. Tobata Gyokuhi had a refined sweetness that paired perfectly with the ice and mochi.

Visited during the Gion Festival. There was a line of about 30 people. This Kyoto traditional confectionery shop has been in business since 1803, for 220 years. They use high-quality spring water from the shop's front to make their confections, offering a range from traditional to new creations. It was a hot evening when I visited, so I ordered the "Uji Kinjyo". The confection was delicious, with a rich matcha syrup and soft, sweet shiratama and anko. The shaved ice didn't get watery until the end, allowing me to enjoy the "Uji Kinjyo" fully. Eating it in the heat seemed to enhance the flavor. Definitely worth a try when in Kyoto. Highly recommended.

I wanted to buy this sliced yokan when I came to Kyoto. The shop is about a 10-minute walk from Shijo Station on the Karasuma Line. When I entered the shop, there were no other customers. I was a little nervous, but I was able to purchase the item I wanted. I had it on toast for breakfast the next morning after returning from my trip. It wasn't too sweet and had a taste that I liked. Thank you for the meal! (๑・̑◡・̑๑)♡

This is an exquisite delicacy. It is a lemon and sweet orange steamed bun. It is the perfect treat for myself. I bought it as a souvenir for myself when I went to Kyoto. The bun is soft, with a slightly sour lemon flavor inside and a sweet white bean paste that spreads out afterwards. The citrus flavor fills the mouth. It was absolutely delicious. The moist steamed bun was exceptional. It pairs perfectly with Japanese tea. If you ever visit Kyoto, I highly recommend this shop.

This year's summer water yam is from "Kameya Yoshinaga". The matcha flavor is rich and the taste of azuki beans is also present. Personally, I prefer the plain flavor, but both were delicious. I didn't buy anything else this time because I was aiming for the water yam, but next time I want to try the classic "Ubagatama". (I have previously purchased sliced yokan at Isetan)

Located in front of the Shijo Horikawa bus stop, this long-established Japanese confectionery shop offers a beautiful interior and a cozy atmosphere for dining in. I tried their seasonal fresh sweets set for 1045 yen (tax included), which featured a dessert called "Tomato no Shizuku." It was a clear agar jelly with tomato paste inside, giving off a refreshing citrus aroma. The matcha served was slightly on the milder side, perfect for a relaxing break. Overall, I enjoyed delicious fresh sweets and matcha at this traditional Japanese confectionery shop.

I often saw it at department stores, and the main store has a dignified atmosphere. I bought sliced yokan, which is an arrangement of yokan. The seasonal wagashi was sold out, I wanted some kakitsubata. You can draw water from the famous water in Kyoto, "Sawagai Water", and bring it back with you. It is available at the storefront.

I don't have many opportunities to visit the main store, but I visited this time. The interior of the store, where you can also eat in, is Japanese-style and newly arranged with a wide variety of Kyoto sweets, from classics to seasonal items. This time, I purchased a lot of the classic Toba-dama as a souvenir that doesn't last long, so I can give it right away. I also bought strawberry milk yokan that caught my eye.

I purchased this sliced yokan at the Anko Exhibition at Kameya Yoshinaga Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi store. It seems to be a combination of red bean yokan, cocoa yokan, and burnt butter yokan. I toasted it in the toaster until the yokan became bubbly, and then enjoyed it while it was piping hot. The flavors of yokan and chocolate are slightly noticeable, followed by the aroma of burnt butter, which is very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Omiya Station along Shijo Street is the main store of "Kameya Yoshinaga." This long-established Japanese confectionery shop has been in business since 1803 in the late Edo period, making it a 220-year-old establishment. The first-generation owner found the "Sakigai Water" springing up in front of the shop, leading to the establishment of the store at this location. The current owner is the 8th generation. Popular items include the signature sweet "Karasu Tama" and the "Slice Yokan" created by the landlady. During my visit to Kyoto, I stopped by "Kameya Yoshinaga" to purchase Kyoto sweets made using the famous "Sakigai Water." The store offers a variety of refined traditional Kyoto sweets as well as new innovative Japanese confections. There is a seating area inside where customers can enjoy the sweets on-site. The idea for the Slice Yokan, which is like a slice of cheese but made with sweet bean paste, was born when the landlady was making breakfast for her son and thought it would be great if the bean paste could be easily spread on bread like cheese. It was a great idea! Thank you for the delicious treats.

I used it for takeout. It was a confectionery called Ume no Sato, I think. The inside was filled with white bean paste lightly colored in cherry blossom pink, and the outside was made of white bean paste, like a smooth paste. I love Japanese sweets, and I had been wanting to eat this when I went to Kyoto, so I was very satisfied to be able to buy it. It was said to be best consumed on the same day, so I couldn't bring it home, but next time I go to Kyoto, I want to go to the store right before leaving and bring it home.

A traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto. It is located along a main street, right next to the famous Seigai spring water. The shop is very clean and spacious. I visited to purchase some souvenirs. The signature sweet here is the Ubagatama, a pack of 6 for 540 yen, which is very reasonably priced yet feels luxurious and tastes great. It's very handy as a souvenir. I bought some for souvenirs and also for myself. I enjoyed the Ubagatama at home. It is a simple treat with red bean paste balls coated in agar. The glossy surface of the agar exudes a sense of sophistication. The red bean paste has a rich flavor from the brown sugar, and the texture is smooth. It is perfect as a tea accompaniment. I think it is a very versatile and excellent sweet treat for both personal enjoyment and gifting.

I received a souvenir of sliced yokan called Ubatama, which is pronounced as "Ubatama" because it is as black as a crow. It can last until the end of the year. First, I will try the sliced yokan. I had a hard time drinking in Osaka the day before, so I was a bit tired. On the way back, I took a 30-minute nap at the pass because I was sleepy and it was dangerous! Maybe it was because I went to a day trip hot spring and relaxed on the way back? I returned without eating, fell asleep, and in the morning it was cold and I couldn't get out of bed, so I slowly woke up. I received the sliced yokan as a souvenir, which was frozen. There was only one piece of white bread left that my friend gave me, so I decided to eat something sweet for breakfast. The sliced yokan comes in two pieces, so I put two pieces on the one piece of bread and baked them in the toaster until the yokan was bubbling. It was cold, so I ate it next to the wood stove. I put the toast I baked on top of the stove, and it was hot. The bread was crispy, the yokan was soft, and with a bit of butter, it had a surprisingly light sweetness. Now that I feel energized, I will do some housework slowly today, and tomorrow I have another invitation, which is probably the last year-end party.
