Order: Meat Udon, Burdock Tempura Located in a residential area just off the main road in Kitakyushu Kokura Minami-ku. In Fukuoka prefecture, especially in Kitakyushu city, there are many udon shops competing with each other. Unlike the soft noodles in Hakata, here you can enjoy firm noodles with a soup that is not as thick as it looks, topped with meat! Adding burdock tempura on the side makes it even more to my liking. A happy mouth leads to a happy heart. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On a regular weekday around 11:30, the parking lot was surprisingly empty after the typhoon passed. The restaurant was almost full, but luckily there was a seat available at the counter. I remembered last time I couldn't gauge the portion size, so I ordered the Meat Medium, but felt like I wanted more meat. This time, I ordered the Meat Large, and it arrived in just 5 minutes. The sweet and savory broth really captured the essence of those who order extra rice. The amount of meat was overwhelming, so I ate it in moderation, added ginger, and finished off with some chili peppers for a flavor change. It was a feast that I could keep eating endlessly. Second visit. Today, I sat at the counter in front of the kitchen. The meat udon menu offers "Meat Udon" or "Meat Meat Udon" in three sizes each - large, medium, and small. - Meat Udon (Large: 850 yen, Medium: 800 yen, Small: 700 yen) - Meat Meat Udon (Large: 1000 yen, Medium: 950 yen, Small: 850 yen) Last time I had the "Meat Udon," so this time I decided to take on the challenge of "Meat Meat" ('∇^d) ☆!! I ordered the Meat Meat Udon (Medium). The meat in the Meat Udon had a satisfying amount, but the Meat Meat Udon has double the meat piled on top (∑(゚Д゚)). When I tried to scoop up the noodles from underneath, the meat looked like it was going to roll off, so I started with the meat first. The meat was meaty with some fat and tendons, but it was tender enough to eat comfortably without tiring out my jaw. The richness of the meat flavor really came through, adding depth to the dish. The al dente thick noodles had a good bite to them and were so slippery that they almost slid down my throat. Even in the small size, the noodles had a decent volume, so it's best to chew them well without rushing. [Additional notes] - Sitting at the counter near the kitchen gives you a close proximity to the staff, which can be exciting in a way, haha. [Overall impression] As always, the meal was hearty and satisfying (o^^o)☆★ I ordered the medium size like last time, but with double the amount of meat in the Meat Meat Udon, it was quite filling. Ordered the Niku Niku Udon (medium) for 950 yen. Despite being described as a commoner's taste, the price is not too high considering that a regular Kake Udon is 450 yen nowadays. True to its name, this dish is packed with tender beef tendon meat. The unique dark broth, not typical of Kyushu style, is rich in meaty flavor. The balance between the chewy thick noodles and the broth is excellent. Adding grated ginger gives it an extra kick, making it stand out from typical udon dishes. This udon is known as "Doki Doki Udon." There are various theories about the name, with some saying it comes from the greasy texture from beef tendon fat and collagen. The customers are diverse, ranging from muscular guys to students and local elderly people. This beloved Doki Doki Udon is worth another visit.

I had a small portion of meat udon, and the meat udon here has double the amount of meat. This udon restaurant is popular among locals and opens from 8:30 in the morning. The broth is rich and flavorful with a good balance of soy sauce and dashi, not too spicy and easy to eat. The beef cheek meat was tender and well stewed. It is served with plenty of ginger. The name of the dish comes from the fact that after the war, beef head meat was discarded, and this udon dish was created using it. The fat from the broth used to float on the surface, making it sticky, and when a customer jokingly said it was "dokidoki" (exciting), the name stuck.

The broth had a rich meaty flavor with a strong soy sauce taste, which was delicious. I tried not to drink all of it because it's quite filling. The noodles had a good texture, not as chewy as authentic Sanuki udon but still smooth and chewy. This is different from Hakata udon or Uradashi-kai style. The meat was like cheek meat, plentiful and not tough at all, very tasty. The place was not crowded even early in the day, and there were many local customers. If you want to try a meaty udon, this is the place to go!

Today, I toured the districts of Kokura Kita-ku and Minami-ku to gather location information for expanding my business. Around 2 PM, I searched for a place to eat and found Nowa Udon, a little far from where I was but decided to drive there. They serve udon noodles that are boiled and then cooled in cold water to firm them up. The soup is a bit on the salty side, and the meat is tender and flavorful. I've tried udon from various places, but the noodles here have a really strong texture. I ordered a large portion, which was quite filling. If I have the chance, I'll go back and order a regular size next time.

On Sunday at 1:00 PM. Recently, I have become addicted to the beef udon at Kokura, so I headed to the number 1 ranked "Imanami Udon" on Tabelog! As you head towards Nanko direction (Route 83) from Kitakata 3-chome, there is a large parking space on the left side, where there were cars and a line of people waiting for udon...Σ(゚д゚lll) It's a small udon shop that looks like a private house, but the inside was full and there was a line of about 10 people outside. I was prepared to wait for 20-30 minutes, but surprisingly, I was able to enter in about 15 minutes (^-^)v There is a counter in front of the kitchen and on the opposite side, there are 8-person table seats between the counters. Since the counter was full that day, we were seated at the central table, sharing with others. It seems like it can accommodate up to 20 people. The storefront is bustling with udon being boiled. Inside the store, there is a long table in the center, counter seats facing the kitchen side and the wall. The menu includes "Niku Udon" (small) for 700 yen, which is topped with plenty of chunks of meat on the udon. The broth, known as "Sme" in Fukuoka, is a clear dark soy sauce color with a good balance of sweetness and savory flavor. The meat in the udon is tender and delicious. The udon itself has a firm texture and is rich in flavor. Overall, it was very satisfying. Kitakyushu's unique meat udon, known as "Dokidoki Udon", features chunks of beef (cheek meat and some tendon) resembling diced steak, with a lot of fat floating on the surface of the broth. However, the current version has the fat processed to a moderate level, so it doesn't feel greasy. The udon from Fukuoka exceeded expectations with its firm texture, rich flavor, and delicious broth. "Imanami Udon" in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is definitely worth a visit.

Meat meat udon (medium) for 950 yen. Located slightly off the main street with plenty of parking. The broth is strong with black soy sauce, the udon noodles have a chewy texture, not fluffy, and there is plenty of chopped green onions and lots of meat. This bowl made me realize what meaty udon is supposed to be like.

Meat meat udon is excellent with plenty of ginger. I visited the famous Imazuna Udon in Kitakyushu, where there are many udon lovers. When we arrived around 12:00, there were about 5 people in line. The aroma of the broth was already enticing as we entered the spacious parking lot. You could smell the delicious broth even from outside. Inside, there was a self-service water station. I ordered a small size of the meat meat udon, which has a generous amount of beef tendon. The udon noodles were thick and had a nice chewy texture. The dish also came with dried radish and seaweed pickles, which added a nice kick when eaten with soy sauce. The broth was flavorful and you could taste the richness of the beef tendon. I recommend adding plenty of ginger to the udon for a refreshing taste. The portion size was just right, and I left feeling satisfied. Other customers were enjoying their udon with ginger and red chili peppers. Overall, I highly recommend trying the meat meat udon at Imazuna Udon, a local specialty in Kitakyushu.

The dish arrived quickly, with a black soup and tender simmered meat. The noodles were not firm like Fukuoka's unique soft noodles, but they were not overly soft either. I topped it with plenty of ginger from the table, which made it refreshing and easy to eat. Despite the dark appearance of the soup, it was delicious! It was delicious with plenty of meat and lots of noodles. The noodles were chewy and had a nice texture, and when I added ginger, the flavor changed and was also delicious. Meat Udon (Medium) (800 yen) The first thing that catches your eye is the meat covering the surface! The presence of beef tendon meat stands out. And the soup doesn't lose to that. The color may look dark, but when you drink it, it's not overly strong in soy sauce and easy to drink. The udon may look soft at first glance, but it's quite chewy. Overall, there is a sense of unity, giving you the feeling of real meat udon. I didn't really have the image of Kitakyushu = udon until now, but this famous udon overturns that. Oh, I'm satisfied.

Arrived around 7:50 on Sunday. The store opens at 8:30. No customers ahead of me. I decided to wait in my car for now. At 8:10, there were 7 people in line. Maybe I should start lining up soon. By the time the store opened at 8:30, there were about 15 people in line. We were guided inside and could choose our own seats. At this point, the order of lining up didn't seem to matter. We could also order whenever we wanted. I ordered the small Beef Udon for ¥700 and one Inari Sushi for ¥80. The food was served in about 5 minutes. The beef was tender and the udon had a chewy texture. It was a standard but satisfying udon meal. Thank you for the meal.

Before heading to the Kokura horse race, I stopped by the first restaurant on the Kitakyushu Udon Map for a meal. I ordered the famous "Niku Niku Udon" in a large size, which was filled with plenty of pork belly and was delicious. However, there was so much meat that I ended up feeling full. Next time, I think I'll go for the medium size.

I visited for the first time and was confused about how to order since there was no line. It seems like you have to order verbally as soon as you enter. I ordered the Meat Meat Udon (medium) with an additional onion tempura. The total came to 1150 yen, so the tempura was 250 yen. It seemed expensive for the thin tempura, I expected it to be around 100 yen. The udon was a bit doughy and the broth lacked flavor. The cheek meat and shin meat were well stewed and delicious. The freshly grated ginger on the table paired well with the dish. In fact, it might be more accurate to say that you eat the udon with the meat broth, ginger, and chili pepper, given the light broth. Personally, I prefer udon with a flavorful broth, and the noodles weren't to my liking either. Considering the cost performance, I probably won't visit again.

Hello there. The main part of this trip was heading out in the morning on the Shinkansen to Kokura. From there, we drove to the parking lot and arrived an hour early. Although we didn't have to wait in line, the seats quickly filled up. I ended up sitting in the same seat as Asakura Mirai-san. I had the goboten, which had a huge amount of meat. Even the meat udon had a great volume. I devoured it eagerly. The ginger also complemented the dish well! This was truly a shocking bowl. Thank you for the meal. Well then, see you later.
