Schnitzel
This is a sushi restaurant located on the basement floor of Tokyo Station Yaesu Exit Granroof. It is one of the approximately 20 stores operated by Tsukiji Sushi Sei, which is mainly located in the Tokyo metropolitan area. I have used their takeaway sushi service a few times before, where you can order and have the sushi chef prepare it fresh. This time, I wanted to dine in and enjoy properly made sushi, so I stopped by after work. I arrived just before 5 pm, avoiding the rush hour crowds, and the restaurant was still quite empty. They offer four types of sushi platters for takeaway: Upper for 1650 yen, Takumi for 2000 yen, Tokusen for 2000 yen, and Tokujyo for 2500 yen. Last time, I purchased the Tokujyo for 2000 yen, Takumi for 1500 yen, and Wa for 1080 yen, but this time I ordered the Tokujyo for my friend and the Upper for myself. After paying, I was told it would take about 15 minutes for the sushi to be ready. I wandered around Daimaru's store for about 10 minutes and returned just as the sushi was ready, so I picked it up and headed home. The Upper sushi I ate at home was surprisingly delicious, even better than the Tokujyo I had last time. The toppings included medium fatty tuna, lean tuna, sea bream, shrimp, salmon roe, conger eel, squid, and rolled omelette. All of them were of good quality, but I particularly enjoyed the lean tuna, sea bream, and conger eel. The rice and the toppings were well balanced, showing the skill of the sushi chef. It was a proper sushi experience, different from conveyor belt sushi or takeaway sushi. My friend who had the Tokujyo was also satisfied, but in terms of value for money, the Upper might be a better choice.
