Wakamatsu-ku, Kitakyushu City, Nakagawa-cho. The last night in Wakamatsu (to be precise, the last night of conquering Wakamatsu). The chosen restaurant is here. When it comes to the gyoza culture in Kitakyushu, there is Hachiman Gyoza. One of the famous Hachiman Gyoza is the Iron Pot Gyoza. That iron pot has crossed the sea and arrived in Wakamatsu at this place. The menu includes grilled gyoza, boiled gyoza, gyoza soup, grilled rice, yakisoba, champon, tanmen, Chinese rice bowl, and rice. The drink menu includes beer, sake, chu-hi, and highball. As soon as you sit down at this restaurant, you are asked how many servings of grilled gyoza you would like. This time, I ordered 2 servings (1 serving for 440 yen x 2 = 880 yen). For drinks, I chose cola (200 yen). Grilled gyoza. 10 pieces per serving. The outside is crispy and crunchy in texture. The filling inside is juicy. The garlic flavor is quite strong and has a punchy taste. The vinegar soy sauce-based sauce and chili oil are the best match for these gyoza. This is really delicious. Personally, I prefer this over the main store's Iron Pot Gyoza. Cola. In a bottle. However, it's difficult to drink directly from the bottle with gyoza, so I poured it into a glass. This is the 10th installment of the short series "Restaurants I don't want to carry over to next year 2022 - 2nd year in Wakamatsu-ku". The last one. I have to conquer this restaurant after all. The only regret is that I didn't try the grilled chicken-style dish. Thank you for the meal.

When I went to Wakamatsu, I absolutely wanted to visit this restaurant. The atmosphere of the place was lovely, so I decided to start with something basic. I tried the Kokura-style iron pot dish, and it was totally different but delicious. The crispy texture was irresistible, especially when paired with beer. It was a moment of pure bliss. Although I only tried the grilled dumplings this time because I wanted to explore more food and drinks in Wakamatsu, they also recommended grilled rice and grilled noodles. They even have my favorite dish, champon. But for now, the grilled dumplings take the crown! ✨✨✨✨

I visited around 4:00 pm and the restaurant was not crowded, so I was able to get a table right away. I ordered two servings of pan-fried dumplings and one serving of boiled dumplings. The pan-fried dumplings had a strong garlic flavor, thin skin, and were crispy on the outside from being cooked in an iron pot, giving them a fried texture that was delicious! The boiled dumplings were made with the same filling, but were served with a sauce made of ponzu, white sesame, and green onions. They were refreshing and easy to eat without getting tired of them.

◉Genre: Gyoza, Izakaya ◉Area: Nakagawa-cho, Wakamatsu-ku, Kitakyushu City ◉Access: A few minutes by car from JR Wakamatsu Station ◉Parking: None (Coin parking nearby, affiliated parking available) ◉Credit card payment: Not available ◉Number of visits: First visit ◉Number of reviews: 1st visit On this day, I visited "Gyoza Tetsunabe" on a whim. ◇Exterior and Interior This gyoza restaurant is located in Nakagawa-cho, Wakamatsu-ku, Kitakyushu City. It exudes an aura of being a traditional establishment with a long history. The interior of the restaurant confirms its age, with one TV, non-smoking inside, and ashtrays outside. ◇Seating There are about 13 seats at the counter. ◇Menu Composition The menu consists of pan-fried gyoza, boiled gyoza, gyoza soup, yakisoba, champon, tanmen, and Chinese rice bowl, following a traditional structure. A very good impression indeed! I ordered the following: - Pan-fried gyoza (440 yen) → Including tax. Judging from the exterior and history, it seemed like the type of place where you order as soon as you sit down, so I ordered two servings. First, I took a sip of beer while admiring the pot on the stove at the counter (6th photo), which whetted my appetite. The gyoza served was a bite-sized type with thin skin. The slightly flat shape was a unique style, with a well-balanced filling that had a hint of garlic. The sauce was good, but it also went well with the homemade chili oil, and the beer flowed smoothly. I wanted to order more, but I decided to switch to yakisoba. Even then, it was so delicious and reasonably priced that it made me want to order more. However, it's probably best to enjoy it quickly without lingering too long. ◆Strong Points Enjoy the historical Tetsunabe gyoza! ◆Service Average. ◆Conclusion The "order as soon as you sit down" pattern is when it is customary to order gyoza as soon as you sit down. It's a fun experience. Satoki. I believe the main store is located in Kurosaki. A renowned restaurant in Kitakyushu loved by locals and visitors from other areas. I hope it continues to thrive. Thank you for the meal. ^ ^

About 6 minutes from JR Wakamatsu Station in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. I took a bus from JR Tobata Station and crossed the bridge to get to Wakamatsu Station. Wakamatsu used to be a thriving coal shipping port when coal was the main fuel. Wakamatsu Station is a terminal station with a charming atmosphere, featuring a udon restaurant called Higashichikuken. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was still closed for an idol break until 3:00 pm. It was 2:00 pm at the time, so I decided to cool off at a nearby pachinko parlor. I ended up winning continuously on the 1-yen pachinko machine until 3:30 pm, so I hurried to the restaurant. I saved all the money for gyoza with my pachinko winnings. The restaurant had a cool and traditional interior and exterior. I ordered gyoza for 440 yen and a cola for 200 yen. The gyoza was full of garlic flavor, with a crispy and fragrant outer layer. It was delicious even without any dipping sauce. It would go perfectly with beer. After the meal, I took a bus back to Tobata Station and headed to Kurosaki.

I visited Waka-Matsu for the Ebisu Festival and decided to eat gyoza in an iron pot with my friends. We were able to enter the restaurant quickly without waiting and ordered double gyoza and fried rice. The food was delicious and I was so focused on eating that I forgot to take a picture of the fried rice. Thank you for the meal.

Yaki Gyoza for 440 yen, ranked 34th in the Kitakyushu Ramen Gyoza category with a rating of 3.42 stars (as of the 4th week of November 2021). Even though it's in the Gyoza category, it includes ramen shops, so it's probably around 10th place for Gyoza-focused restaurants. Sateoki. While updating my car navigation app, I decided to take a drive to this restaurant. I parked my car at a nearby coin parking lot and arrived at the restaurant at 14:58, just 2 minutes before opening. There were people inside, but I couldn't help but remember the bitter memories of Maruichi, but I figured they wouldn't kill me even if they scolded me, so I went in. I asked, "Is it okay to come in?" and they replied, "Please come in!" The staff were two elderly gentlemen. I ordered the Yaki Gyoza and waited for a bit. One of the gentlemen was busy making Gyoza at the counter. The dish was served in 8 minutes. The skin was thin and, of course, the temperature was hot. The filling was a bit small and flat in shape. It was slightly different from the ones in Kurosaki. But this is already a "culture," right? It was delicious. It's quite different from Kokura Tetsunabe in many ways. While I was eating, two customers came in for takeout orders. They both bought a large quantity. This restaurant, like Fukumimi, specializes in Gyoza. Should we try changing the category to "other"? If we succeed in changing it, it would be fantastic! I would worship them as gods. The electronics store in front of the restaurant is a nice place! They only accept cash payments, but the coin parking lot accepted Suica.

On a rainy Sunday at 3:30 PM, I visited the restaurant. There were no other customers, so I was able to enter immediately. They have a partnership with a nearby parking lot where you can get a free parking ticket. It's a 5-minute walk from the parking lot. The interior of the restaurant only has a counter, and it has a rustic feel to it. It may not be stylish, but it is clean. They welcomed families with children. The staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. The gyoza (dumplings) cost 400 yen for 10 pieces. I always order only gyoza, eating about 5 servings each time. The gyoza is light and crispy, similar to eating Jagariko snacks. It has a strong flavor of vegetables and meat. The size is like a one-bite gyoza. While I also enjoy larger gyoza, this type of gyoza is unique and very delicious, making me crave it at times.

We had two servings of pan-fried dumplings! When we came to Kitakyushu, we just had to have teppan dishes, so we decided to visit this place. The restaurant has an old-fashioned atmosphere and a simple menu with just dumplings and fried rice. We ordered the pan-fried dumplings, which were small but full of flavor, making it seem like we could eat them endlessly. Of course, we had to have beer with them!

Today was a stroll in Wakamatsu. I visited the first restaurant around 3 pm, shortly after it opened. I ordered the "gyoza iron pot," which was only available at the counter seats. There was a customer enjoying beer and gyoza while watching golf on TV. The staff, two men, were busy making gyoza. They rolled out the dough, filled it with the filling, and wrapped it up. I was quite hungry as I hadn't eaten anything all morning, so I promptly ordered a small bottle of beer and gyoza. The staff warned me that one serving of gyoza might not be enough. Judging by my plump figure, they probably thought I could eat a lot (haha). So, I ordered two servings. The gyoza were cooked in a round iron pot on a stove, covered with a wooden lid. After about 5 minutes, the piping hot iron pot was served in front of me on the wooden counter. When I took the first bite, I thought, "Wow, this is so delicious!" I have had gyoza from the main store of Iron Pot in Kurosaki, Hachiman Nishi-ku, many times, but I don't remember it being this good. The thin skin was chewy, and the cooked side was crispy and crunchy. It made a sound as I chewed, and the filling had a well-balanced mix of finely chopped vegetables and meat, with a hint of garlic giving it a punchy umami flavor. I couldn't help but smile at how tasty it was. Although I thought two servings (a total of 20 pieces) might be a bit too much, I ended up finishing them all without getting bored. The service was simple yet sincere. Truly a delicious specialty of Iron Pot. It was a great meal. Thank you.

I finally made it to a slightly hard-to-find place in Wakamatsu-ku, Kitakyushu. I had 2 orders of pan-fried dumplings (10 pieces per order) and fried rice. The dumplings were bite-sized and I couldn't stop eating them because they were so delicious!

In Kitakyushu, Wakamatsu. The origin of the iron pot dumplings can be found in Fukuoka and Kokura, but the original shop is located in Yahata-Kurozaki (originally founded in Orio). The shop was established in 1958. The shop in Wakamatsu is run by the younger brother of the second generation owner of the original shop. So, it's like the founder's son running the shop. The establishment of this shop was in 1973. It's already been 50 years, which is quite impressive. The location is in Wakamatsu, just north of the drinking district across the bay from Yahata-Kurozaki. The shop has a lot of history, as expected after 50 years. In addition to the iron pot dumplings, they also serve tantanmen, yakisoba, ramen, and more. I ordered the iron pot dumplings, which are cooked in a round iron pot on a stove. A serving is 10 dumplings, but they are small so I recommend ordering two servings for a better presentation. The thin skin is crispy from being cooked in the iron pot, and they are served piping hot. The filling is mainly vegetables with a bit of pork and beef. The main ingredient is cabbage. The combination of steamed vegetables' sweetness and the meat's flavor makes it very easy to eat. The idea of serving in an iron pot was inspired by a shop in Ginza that served spaghetti in an iron plate, which the founder of the Yahata shop saw. Interestingly, the iron pot itself was made in Kyoto, not in Yahata, even though Yahata is known for its ironworks. Despite the decline of coal mining, Wakamatsu still retains its unique charm and has some good restaurants worth visiting, so it's worth stopping by when you're in the Kokura area. It might be a bit of a detour from visiting places like Tobiume on Tabelog.

The endless bite-sized iron pot gyoza (pan-fried) dumplings are best enjoyed with sesame and vinegar soy sauce. The landlady kindly teaches you how to eat them, creating a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of the Showa era.

I took foreign customers here. The bite-sized dumplings and soup dumplings both have a flavor where the meat juices melt from the skin. The homemade fried rice at the end of the meal is also excellent. You can also get takeout.

This place has a nostalgic Showa era feel to it. I visited a long time ago and it hasn't changed at all since then, giving off a sense of time standing still. Despite being in a quiet area, the place is almost full with customers, many of whom are ordering gyoza to go. In the kitchen, two elderly men and two women are busy cooking. The taste is unquestionably good!! I hope this place continues to thrive.

When eating the Tekkanabe Gyoza in Kokura, I heard that it originated in Yahata or Wakamatsu, so I was curious and visited the Tekkanabe Gyoza in Wakamatsu. It was a bit hard to find as it was located in a narrow alley, but there is a coin parking nearby so you can also go by car. The restaurant had a very old-fashioned feel with only a counter, and it seemed like the Tekkanabe was specially processed to keep it warm. The menu seemed limited, but many people seemed to order combinations like Gyoza and fried rice or Gyoza and fried udon. The Gyoza were small in size, but the filling was solid. I think it's a good place to experience the history of Tekkanabe.

The timeline is all over the place, but let's go to Wakamatsu for 100 yen round trip series vol.15 This shop is new to me, but I've had their iron pot gyoza in Hakata before. Well, the iron pot gyoza in Kitakyushu and Hakata seem to have different origins, so it's not really related (^_^;) Anyway, gyoza itself seems to be a specialty in Yahata district (well, it's a neighboring area) and Tobata seems to be promoting champon. So, I wonder what Wakamatsu has to offer. Recently, there seem to be plenty of good vegetables, lined up in the old shopping street of Wakamatsu. This shop is also located a bit off the old shopping street, sourcing various ingredients from the shopping street, so it must be delicious! I decided to visit with that in mind (≧∇≦) Well, to be honest, I stumbled upon it by mistake, but I found it (^_^;) My work ends at 3 pm, and this shop opens at 3 pm. It's a wonderful opening time for me. On the day of my visit, I visited a delicious tempura shop (Sukihoukou and Marumado Tempura) on my way back and entered the shop around 4 pm. An elderly couple? was making gyoza like crazy (^_^;) The shop has only a counter, giving a traditional izakaya vibe. Looking at the menu on the wall behind the seats, I ordered grilled gyoza for 400 yen and grilled rice for 500 yen. Then, another man came from the kitchen... Huh? Which one is the couple?! Who is the owner?! I wondered as I watched their work. The process of making grilled rice starts with cutting the ingredients (obviously), so the gyoza was ready first. I'll have it m(_ _)m First, I took one... Ahhh, the skin is crispy. Those who have eaten gyoza in Fukuoka would know. Here, gyoza is commonly served in bite-sized pieces as a side dish for beer, and it is just as popular as regular gyoza. The skin is thin and cooked in plenty of oil, so it's no wonder everyone drinks beer with it. By the way, I visited by bike, so I'm not sweating (^_^;) I don't drink either ( ̄▽ ̄) Anyway, when I had half of the gyoza, the grilled rice was served. I'll have it m(_ _)m I mean, even the plate looks lovely. It's like an aluminum plate that gives off a vibe of "since school lunches." There are no special ingredients, just onions, eggs, and kamaboko, I guess?! It's all because of the location of Wakamatsu (^_^;) I've always been puzzled by the lack of reviews from Myレビ users, but I felt it again (^_^;) "Can't drive after drinking beer" is a thing~ σ(^_^;) Thank you for the meal m(_ _)m(_ _)m(_ _)m
