On Sunday, after watching a drama and feeling like eating monjayaki, I decided to visit a restaurant. At 6 o'clock, all the monjayaki restaurants on Monja Street were packed. Luckily, we managed to get a table, but it quickly filled up and many groups were turned away. This restaurant had sparkling wine bottles, which made me happy as I drink it almost every day. The corned beef monjayaki and mentaiko mochi cheese monjayaki were excellent. The chilled tomatoes were a bit too ripe. The pork kimchi okonomiyaki was good, and the scallop butteryaki was delicious with large scallops.

Even during busy hours, both drinks and food menu items arrived quickly, which was very impressive. There was no cutting corners at all! When I didn't know how to cook something, the staff kindly cooked it for me right away. It was so good that I want to go again!

I thought it was quite rare and unusual, so I decided to try the curry monja. The staff helped me all the way to make it, as I didn't know how to do it. Since you can't find curry monja elsewhere, I recommend it for those looking for something unique.

The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building and took a bit of searching to find. There were many menu options, all of which were delicious. The Sapporo ramen (with miso, noodles, and corn) recommended by the staff was really tasty. It was great to be able to have a lively and fun time with everyone.

The okonomiyaki restaurant located one street away from the main shopping street was not crowded, unlike the ones directly facing the main street. We were able to enjoy our okonomiyaki in a calm atmosphere. We ordered the most popular mochi cheese okonomiyaki and the yuzu pepper okonomiyaki with Baby Star topping. It was great to enjoy the okonomiyaki with beer. The service was quick and the restaurant was clean.

Located a 5-minute walk from Tsukishima Station, this is a long-established restaurant in Monja Street, Tsukishima Monja! They offer a wide variety of dishes in a spacious and comfortable atmosphere. I ordered the Mentaiko Mochi Cheese Monja, Mix Monja, Iroha Tempura, and Anko Maki. All of them had a consistently good taste, allowing me to enjoy both monja and okonomiyaki. I felt that the monja could have a stronger flavor, so adding some extra seasoning to suit my taste would be nice! The Anko Maki dessert at the end was delicious, so be sure to try it! I would love to visit again.

I grew up in a household where Baby Star was always added to Monja-yaki, so I ended up here looking for a place around Tsukishima Monja Street where I could add Baby Star as a topping. The mentaiko monja and curry monja (both with Baby Star) were amazing, and they paired perfectly with beer.

I occasionally visit this restaurant. It has a sense of stability, and everything I eat there is delicious. On this day, I had kimchi and grilled squid, as well as squid ink monjayaki with cheese and rice toppings. Seafood is also included. I love this combination. When you add rice, it becomes like a risotto, making the squid ink flavor milder and creating a very balanced and delicious dish. The teppan grill is initially very hot, so I recommend lowering the heat a bit and cooking calmly after it has settled down, as it can splash vigorously.

When I went to Tokyo, I made sure to include trying Monjayaki in Tsukishima in my travel plans. I had sent a reservation email to Iroha in advance, but they only got back to me the day before. I tried calling but no one answered. Oh well, I managed to go in the end, so it's all good. As for the Monjayaki, it was lighter in flavor compared to what I've had in Kansai. I'm not sure if that's the restaurant's style or if Monjayaki in Tokyo is generally like that. I'll have to try it somewhere else next time. Thank you for the meal.

Went to Tokyo with my wife. When you think of Tokyo, you think of Monjayaki. And when you think of Monjayaki, you think of Tsukishima. Took the Yurakucho Line from Tokyo Station to Tsukishima Station, heading towards Monja Street. Arrived on a Saturday around 12 o'clock. Found a few people waiting in front of the popular shops. However, there were still seats available at the long-established Iroha main store, so we decided to go in. The menu had a lot of options and was a bit pricey. We thought about getting Monjayaki and Yakisoba, but since we came all the way here, we decided to go with the recommended Mixed Monja and Mentaiko Cheese Monja. We also ordered some draft beer. However, we had to place our order using mobile order from our smartphones. First, the Mixed Monja arrived. We cooked it by spreading oil, grilling shrimp, scallops, and meat, and then cutting them up. It was a bit of a hassle to eat. We added cabbage and stir-fried it. It also had sakura shrimp and sliced squid. We were instructed to finely chop the cabbage. As we diligently chopped it up, it started to cook nicely. We poured broth in the middle of the circle and my wife suggested adding Baby Star Ramen, so we quickly ordered it for 150 yen. Should have just bought it from the convenience store? No way. Once it thickened, we spread it out thinly and it was ready. We ate it using a small spatula. The broth was on the salty side, which paired well with the beer. The sakura shrimp added a nice flavor. Unlike okonomiyaki eaten as a meal, this was more like a side dish for beer and other drinks. We had the staff clean the griddle and started the second round. We cooked the Mentaiko Cheese. Mentaiko and cheese were a perfect match. The mentaiko was not very spicy, more like regular cod roe. However, both the cod roe and cheese had a salty flavor, so it was on the salty side. It was a must-have with beer. We finished two pieces and were full. Thank you for the meal.

Tsukishima in Tokyo. It's a well-known holy land of Monjayaki. Hiroshima has its own Okonomiyaki village, but it's not as impressive as here. There are so many restaurants that it's hard to decide where to go. After checking on Tabelog, I decided on "Iroha-san". Due to COVID-19 measures, all orders are done through a smartphone. I was hoping for a bit more interaction with the staff, so it's a bit disappointing. You also have to cook the food yourself. It sounded fun, but it's actually quite challenging for a novice like me. I wish there was a professional to do the cooking.

The pork monjayaki costs 1130 yen. I visited before 12 p.m. on a holiday. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a building, and you have to climb stairs to enter. Inside, there are about 15 tables for 4 people each. There were 10 groups of customers before us. The menu includes monjayaki, okonomiyaki, rice & noodle dishes, side dishes, and butter-grilled items. Orders are placed through mobile ordering by scanning a QR code and adding the restaurant as a friend on LINE. I ordered the pork monjayaki. It was served in 2-3 minutes. The dish consisted of a bowl filled with shredded cabbage, topped with tempura crumbs, bonito flakes, and pork on top. First, the pork and cabbage are stir-fried, then the cabbage is chopped with a spatula, a levee is created, and broth is poured in until it thickens. When ready, it is served hot. The cabbage is crunchy with a rich and thick broth coating it, making it delicious. The combination of pork, bonito flakes, and tempura crumbs adds a flavorful accent. However, I found the price to be high for cooking it yourself.

Visited the popular "Iroha" at Monja in Tsukishima. I arrived at 5 pm on a Sunday, and it seems that entry without a reservation may not be possible, so reservations might be necessary. After enjoying dishes like stir-fried vegetables and beef tongue, I ordered the popular No. 1 dish, mentaiko mochi cheese! The staff taught me how to make it, so I was able to order and cook it myself. Monja is cheap, delicious, and fun!

I'm glad I was able to go on a pilgrimage to this sacred place! I visited on a weekday around 5 pm, and there were no other customers besides us. We left around 7 pm, and no one else had come in by then, haha. It felt like we were making it ourselves, and even though it was my first time, it turned out decent, haha. The taste was neither good nor bad, just average. There are many other okonomiyaki restaurants around, so next time I'll try a different place.

On this day, I went to the famous Monja restaurant called Iroha Honten on Monja Street in Tsukishima with a friend who had come to visit from my hometown. We started with a toast with draft beer. It had been a while since I had alcohol, so it felt good. We tried about four different types of Monja, and unlike other Monja restaurants we've been to, we got to cook the Monja ourselves, which was a fun experience. Overall, the food was delicious.

On Saturday around 5pm, we were able to get in without a reservation for 2 people. It was lucky because the restaurant was full afterwards, so I think it's better to make a reservation. We ordered the mix of mentaiko mochi cheese monja, shrimp butteryaki, and 2 beers, which came to 3400 yen per person. Even though there was a time limit for the seating after us, we didn't order too much, but the mentaiko mochi cheese monja was delicious as always!

I went to eat monjayaki in Tsukishima for the first time in a while. I had made a reservation at the main store but accidentally went to a branch first. It's on the second floor of a building next to Monja Street. The most delicious thing was the Mentaiko Mochi Cheese Monja with Camembert cheese and Baby Star toppings. This combination is the best. I recommend it. When you think that adding Camembert cheese to a dish that already has cheese is heavy... you can easily eat it all in one go...! It's the ultimate combination, so I want to eat it again.

It's Friday and I took a half day off from work in the afternoon. I visited the Ariake Arena in Koto Ward to watch the live performance of Billie Eilish. After the show ended at 8:30 pm, I took a taxi to Tsukishima Station. I met up with my wife who had finished work, and we visited this restaurant together.
- Sapporo Lager Beer (bottle) - 630 yen
- Lychee liquor (soda mix) - 550 yen
- Plum wine (soda mix) - 550 yen
- Mixed Monja - 1,480 yen
- Baby Star Monja - 930 yen
Monja is known for its unique way of cooking, and at this restaurant, you can choose to have the staff make it for you or make it yourself while following the instructions. As someone who enjoyed monja as a snack in my childhood, we chose the latter without hesitation. The mixed monja included large pieces of beef, scallops, shrimp, and more. The Baby Star Monja had a junk food flavor that was addictive. Both dishes maintained the traditional taste of dashi broth that I have been familiar with for a long time. They pair well with alcohol too.
Tsukishima is filled with many monja-yaki restaurants, making it difficult to choose one. However, this restaurant belongs to the long-established ones in the area. They provide classic monja that is safe for first-time visitors. It's a place where you can enjoy delicious monja-yaki. Thank you for the meal.

On this day (August 12), I went to Monja Street in Tsukishima with my male friends and female friends. Our goal was to conquer Monja. Since everyone was on summer vacation, we went in the morning. We went to a long-established Monja restaurant called Iroha. Since we went in the morning, it wasn't crowded. We ordered mentaiko Monja and beef tendon grill. And of course, beer. Even though the beer was multiple times the price, you can't eat that much flour-based food. My stomach was full right away. But I could still drink beer... (laughs). The taste was great. The cabbage was cut into large pieces, giving it a nice crunch when you eat it. It was the female friend who suggested this place (laughs). The beef tendon was tender and easy to eat. It was really delicious. We also tried the Anko Maki, which was also delicious. It was like a crepe! I wanted to have more! (laughs). However, we didn't stay long and left immediately. After that, we visited another Monja restaurant on Monja Street, then went to a highball bar nearby, and finally enjoyed a bar in Koenji, making it a full day of fun (I regret not having any photos). That's how it went. Thank you for the meal. I want to go again. After 6pm on a holiday, there was a line forming. Making your own monjayaki is challenging but fun. LOL. The mentaiko cheese mochi monja on the iron plate is delicious. The mix monja with beef and the miso-flavored hormone yakis are just as tasty as you'd imagine. Overall, great value for the price.
