Office within walking distance, first visit to an Indian restaurant. The staircase leading to the restaurant in the basement, with a sign featuring a photo of the Taj Mahal, but prominently displaying the flag of Nepal, clearly indicating a Nepalese restaurant. The tired but historic dining room-style interior exudes a sense of history. The TV is playing local TV shows, with a large bottle of One Cup Sake placed underneath, creating a chaotic atmosphere. The friendly Nepalese owner warmly welcomed us. Smoking is not allowed, but luckily there are only 4 groups of customers and no smokers, so the air is clean. The lunch menu offers the usual curry sets, but what caught my eye was a curry and samosa set, so I decided on a set with two types of curry and samosas, choosing butter chicken and spinach chicken curry. While waiting for the food, I noticed the Nepalese dumplings called "Momo" on the evening menu, and the Nepalese fried noodles called "Chow Mein" that can be ordered for lunch. Later, I saw another customer ordering the Chow Mein, and I slightly regretted not ordering it. The salad was shredded cabbage with the typical carrot dressing. The main dish was served on a regular stainless steel tray, with curry, samosas, and naan. Ketchup was provided for the samosas, but I requested a spicy sauce. When eaten with the sauce, the freshly fried samosas were delicious. The two curries were average, but the slightly sweet naan had a fragrant and chewy texture, of high quality. The offer for more naan is a common Nepalese gesture, and although the woman next to me declined, I didn't hesitate to ask for more. As always, I finished with a cup of tea. The amount of milk tea in the cup was quite small. When it came time to pay, I searched for change in my wallet, but found it slightly lacking. I reluctantly handed over two 1,000 yen bills, and when asked how much I had, I admitted it was a little short. The owner kindly accepted 1,040 yen instead of the full amount. Nepalese people are truly kind. I don't like the smell of cigarettes during lunchtime, so next time, if my schedule allows, I would definitely like to try the Chow Mein.
