Visited on a Saturday afternoon. I made a reservation a few weeks ago. [Key Points] The oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) at this high-end Japanese restaurant, available at lunch prices, is served in a clay pot with rich, melty egg, flavorful Oyama chicken, and a not overpowering dashi broth, all of which were delicious and made it my favorite oyakodon. The crispy fried chicken was also juicy and very tasty. Overall, the seasoning is not too sweet, which I really liked. [About the Restaurant] This Japanese restaurant opened in August 2022. It is located in a new building in Ningyocho, where restaurants like Yanagi Tsubame are also housed. Lunch reservations seem to be harder to come by lately, possibly due to the introduction of a reasonably priced oyakodon set menu. The lunch service is referred to as "Shinya," but there has been no change in the restaurant's owner. [Interior] There are 7 seats at the counter with ample space between them. The restaurant has a 24-hour ventilation system. The chef and the staff operate the restaurant together. [Food] I had made a reservation for the 2,000 yen oyakodon set. Only natural water is provided for free. There is no service charge for lunch. Payment is cash only. The set included: - Sesame tofu with white miso jelly - Oyama chicken karaage - Pickled carrots - Miso soup with mushrooms - Oyama chicken oyakodon - Sweet sake ice cream monaka with ginger [Food Review] At 2,000 yen including tax, this set is a good deal for Ningyocho. The sesame tofu with white miso and tangy jelly was a great start, and the seasoning was just right, making me look forward to the rest of the meal. The karaage was about the size of two regular pieces, with a crisp coating and well-seasoned, which I liked. The chicken was hot, juicy, and flavorful. However, due to the heat, taking a big bite was a bit challenging, so cutting it into smaller pieces might have been better. The main dish, the oyakodon, was served on freshly cooked rice in a clay pot, topped with creamy egg and tender, flavorful chicken. I chose 100g of rice, which was just about the size of a rice bowl. The dashi broth was delicious, with a subtle aroma, flavor, and saltiness that complemented the egg and chicken well. This was the best oyakodon I've ever had. The dessert, sweet sake ice cream, had a smooth texture and was not too sweet. The hint of ginger was subtle but refreshing. It was a very enjoyable lunch. If I had to mention any improvements, the water glasses for women were unusually small, making it necessary to refill multiple times, and the service, while not bad, could be a matter of personal preference. Also, during lunch, there were moments when those opting for the mini course seemed to have to wait a bit. The oyakodon and karaage are included in the mini course as well. The seasoning was exactly to my liking, not too sweet overall, and just the right amount of saltiness. I look forward to visiting for dinner next time.
