The scenery is beautiful and the tempura is delicious at this restaurant! Personally, I really like the kakiage-don that comes at the end because the sauce is rich in flavor. The tempura is served at good intervals like a course, so you can enjoy it without feeling rushed. I also like that you can choose your favorite ingredients at the end. It tends to be crowded on weekends, so weekdays are a good time to visit without a reservation.

Eat Log 3.47 ✍️ Michelin Bib Gourmand Tempura Abe Hacchome Store Ginza/Shinbashi - Ebi Tendon ¥1,000 On this day, I headed to "Tempura Abe Hacchome Store," where you can enjoy the incredibly cost-effective Ebi Tendon that has also earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in Ginza. This restaurant, opened on April 1, 2016, as the second branch of "Tempura Abe" in Ginza 8-chome, is run by the chef Abe, who has been frying tempura at the traditional Japanese restaurant "Nadaman" for 30 years. They offer authentic tempura at a super reasonable price! The carefully selected oil, a blend of cottonseed oil and sesame oil, achieves a crispy texture, light chewiness, and ideal juiciness. The tempura, which is satisfyingly filling but not heavy, pairs excellently with alcohol. There are also private rooms at the back of the restaurant, making it perfect for entertaining or special occasions! On a certain Thursday, I arrived at 12:10 and was promptly seated at the counter in the back as a customer was finishing their payment. Despite its location in Ginza, the lunch menu offers Kakiage Don and Ebi Tendon for only ¥1,000 each, making it incredibly cost-effective! I was torn between the rumored delicious Kakiage Don and Tempura Lunch, but I decided to order the Ebi Tendon. After a 10-minute wait, my Ebi Tendon arrived! When I opened the lid, I was greeted with three pieces of Ebi Tempura along with eggplant, okra, shiitake mushrooms, and lotus root, all with a significant presence and volume. The plump Ebi Tempura was incredibly delicious with a light and crispy coating. The carefully selected oil truly lived up to its reputation, as it was not heavy at all! While the eggplant and okra were tasty, the shiitake mushrooms, with their rich umami flavor and pleasant aroma, were exceptionally juicy and delicious. I was delighted to have three pieces of Ebi Tempura, but I wished there were more shiitake mushrooms! What stood out about all the ingredients was the perfect cooking. Despite having three pieces of Ebi and four types of vegetables, the rice portion was quite generous, yet the Ebi Tendon remained delicious until the last bite. Although I usually avoid tempura bowls because they tend to be greasy, I realized that truly delicious tempura is in a league of its own. I will definitely come back to try the Kakiage Don or Tempura Lunch next time! - Tempura Abe Hacchome Store Address: Fujii 2 Building 3F, 8-7-2 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 5 minutes walk from JR Shinbashi Station (401m) 5 minutes walk from Ginza Subway Station - Business Hours: 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM Open on Sundays - Closed on: No regular holidays - Payment: Cards accepted (Diners, VISA, Master, JCB) No electronic money accepted

The restaurant opened at 11:30 AM and there were 5 people waiting at 11:20 AM. The restaurant had around 7 counter seats and about 4 tables. The lunch tendon was 1,000 yen and the cost performance was excellent. This is definitely a place worth revisiting. This price in Ginza is incredibly cheap.

I visited on Thursday evening and enjoyed various dishes paired with local sake from Kochi. I had deep-fried shrimp, sweet potato, shiitake mushrooms, scallops, asparagus, eggplant, baby corn, and conger eel as part of the chef's choice selection. I also ordered octopus, squid, and barracuda, and tried the recommended black seven-spice seasoning.

Tempura Abe Hacchome Store @ Shinbashi Tempura Lunch ¥1600 Today I had tempura in Ginza. You can enjoy tempura offered by Mr. Abe, who has been honing his skills at the long-established Japanese restaurant "Nadaman" for over 30 years, at a reasonable price during lunchtime. I was planning to have tempura bowl, but since I could sit at the counter seat, I opted for the tempura set meal ¥1600. Two prawns, snap peas, baby corn, eggplant, lotus root, squid wrapped in shiso leaf, sweet potato. The tempura, fried in succession, had a light and crispy batter, preserving the flavor and texture of the ingredients. The prawns tasted even better with a sprinkle of salt. The miso soup had tofu and seaweed, and the shiny rice was refillable. It's also nice that in Ginza, tempura bowls start from ¥1000, making it a reasonable price. Thank you for the meal. #Shinbashi #ShinbashiLunch #TempuraAbeHacchomeStore #TempuraAbe #Tempura #TempuraBowl #MichelinBibGourmand #TabelogTop100

"Tempura rice bowl with shrimp tempura on top for 2500 yen. The tempura is full of shrimp and delicious. But 2500 yen is a bit pricey. Maybe it would have been better to get the 1000 yen tempura rice bowl and add extra tempura of your choice. The pickled plum is unusual, right? I was able to get in without a reservation right after they opened at 11:30 on Tuesday."

Met up with some friends in Ginza for lunch after a long time. We decided to have tempura. One friend went for the tempura bowl with half-cooked egg for only 1000 yen, which was a special lunch price. Another friend, who had some extra income, opted for the 3300 yen tempura set. I, as usual, struggled to choose and ended up with the safest option - the 1600 yen tempura lunch. The slightly dim interior of the restaurant had a calm atmosphere, although the space between tables felt a bit cramped. But considering the price and quality of tempura we could get in Ginza, it was worth it. Plus, the prices were tax-inclusive, which added to the value. The tempura was light and crispy, and I enjoyed it with salt. The rice was cooked just right, not too hard or too soft, and I ended up finishing everything, which I rarely do. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On this day, I had a part-time job near Ginza and Shimbashi, so I decided to have lunch in the area. I remembered this place and went there for the second time in three months. I ordered the tempura set meal with luxurious anago (conger eel). The set included shrimp, scallop wrapped in seaweed, white fish, anago, broccoli, lotus root, shiitake mushrooms, and sweet potato. For the finishing touch, I chose the mixed tempura rice bowl or tempura rice with tea. Despite being busy with work from daytime to night, I was happy to have a luxurious lunch.

Ebi Tendon 1,000 yen This is "Tempura Abe" located in Ginza Hacchome, where Mr. Saburo Abe carefully prepares each piece of tempura. The flavors of shrimp, lotus root, sweet potato, and shishito pepper stand out, making you realize how delicious they are. The fact that you can enjoy this level of skill at this price is truly miraculous!

It was somewhat expensive, so I can't say it's cost-effective, but freshly fried tempura eaten at the counter was delicious, and it was a great time to spend a little luxury. On a Friday night, two women visited and were seated at the counter by the window. We arrived around 6:30 pm, and although the counter was not very large, it was not too crowded, so we were able to enjoy our meal in a calm atmosphere. We ordered a course menu for around 5,000 yen, which included appetizers, tempura, and dessert, and also added a few items a la carte. The drinks arrived first, followed by a tuna sashimi appetizer. The tuna sashimi was unexpectedly delicious, with a perfect balance of medium fatty tuna and lean tuna. Then came the first tempura dish, which was a crispy fried shrimp head, a great snack to enjoy with drinks. Next was a shrimp tempura, followed by young corn, seasonal oysters, nagaimo, and shiitake mushrooms. Each tempura dish was delicious, with the highlight being the flounder tempura. The flounder was fluffy and tender, and we couldn't help but express our delight. We also tried tempura broccoli for the first time, which was surprisingly tasty. The last dish was conger eel, which was also fluffy and delicious. We couldn't resist adding uni (sea urchin) and shirako (milt) to our order. The uni was deep-fried in seaweed, giving it a unique texture and flavor, while the shirako melted in our mouths. For the final course, we chose a tempura bowl or tempura tea. Despite feeling full, we devoured the tempura bowl filled with shrimp and other ingredients. The tempura was exceptional, dispelling any notion of it being just a greasy lump. Finally, we enjoyed a refreshing yuzu sherbet for dessert. We were able to savor fresh tempura and unique ingredients that only a tempura restaurant can offer. It's scary to think that I might not be able to eat tempura anywhere else now.

On the first day of work after the New Year's holiday, I went to Tempura Abe Ginza 8-chome for lunch. Last year, I had a limited edition kakiage-don at the main branch in Ginza, so this time I ordered the Ebi Tempura Don for 1000 yen. The staff prepared miso soup and pickles, and I sat at the counter in front of the chef as he started frying the tempura. I received the Ebi Tempura Don directly from the chef, and the freshly fried tempura had a sweet and crunchy texture that went well with the rice. In between the shrimp tempura, there were vegetable tempura such as lotus root, shishito pepper, baby corn, and sweet potato. I enjoyed the meal with umeshiba-zuke and miso soup as a palate cleanser. It was delicious!

2023 Michelin Bib Gourmand Award-winning restaurant for the year 2023: "Tempura Abe Hacchome Branch" ✨✨ This restaurant is run by Saburo Abe, who has been dedicated to tempura for over 30 years at the long-established Japanese restaurant "Nadaman." Currently, he manages two restaurants in Ginza. The restaurant has been consistently awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand for many years. It opened in April 2016 and is located on the 3rd floor of a building a 5-minute walk from Ginza Station on the Tokyo Metro. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is quite casual, despite being in Ginza. It seems like a place to go with friends or family rather than for a date. Now, let's see how the food tastes (*´∇`)ノ ■Features of the restaurant - Cottonseed oil and sesame oil are used for frying to make the tempura light. - The specialty is kakiage with plenty of shrimp. They offer a variety of tempura ingredients such as conger eel, megochi (flathead fish), Kaga vegetables, etc. - The price range is quite reasonable compared to other tempura restaurants. ■Tempura set meal for 4,200 yen (tax included) - 2 live shrimp - 3 types of seafood - 5 types of vegetables - Kakiage tempura rice bowl or tempura tea - Miso soup, pickles, dessert, snow-viewing coffee 〈Tempura〉 1. Live shrimp: The batter is slightly thick, and the shrimp is cooked rare. The quality of the shrimp is not bad, but it lacks the finesse of a top-tier restaurant. 2. Live shrimp head: Only the legs are served, crispy and fragrant. 3. Scallop and seaweed tempura: Not bad, but the seaweed overpowers the flavor of the scallop. 4. Pearl onion: The onion is left somewhat raw, enhancing its spiciness. 5. Shiitake mushroom: Average. 6. Asparagus: Overcooked, possibly double-fried. 7. Squid with shiso leaf: Tough squid. Eating it with the shiso leaf is good, but the squid quality is disappointing. 8. Sweet potato: Sweet and delicious. 9. Smelt: Plump and tasty. ⚫Tempura rice bowl: The highlight of the meal was the tempura rice bowl with plenty of small shrimp, which was delicious. ⚫Miso soup: The flavor is strong, but the dried fu and wakame are not reconstituted (hard). ⚫Yuzu sherbet: A refreshing touch. ⚫Coffee: Sweetened coffee with foam. Not my preference. ■Service Average for a casual tempura restaurant. ■Price The quality of the ingredients is average, and for the content provided, it feels a bit expensive. The tempura lacks a sense of dedication. - Average quality of ingredients - Sloppy frying (presentation, cooking) - Abnormally fast frying speed (not paying attention to the customers) - Lack of elegance in presentation (tempura flying around) If I had brought someone with me, they would have been disappointed. It's good that I tried it for a solo lunch. Thank you for the meal. m(_ _)m (If the tempura rice bowl was 1,000 yen cheaper, the rating would be higher) □Rating as of January 2023 3.46 on Tabelog with 89 reviews

I wanted to eat tendon, so I made a reservation at "Tempura Abe Hacchome-ten" and visited the restaurant. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of a mixed-use building facing Hanatsubaki-dori, next to Shiseido. I was the first one to arrive for my 11:30 reservation, so I took some pictures of the interior before other customers arrived. I had ordered the Upper Kakiage Don when making the reservation, but I decided to start with a few items from the tempura menu displayed on the counter. Although the prices were not listed, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the total amount on the receipt later. First, I ordered a draft beer. I started with the lotus root and sweet potato tempura, which I love. The lotus root was crispy and the sweet potato was fluffy, both with a sweet flavor when fried. And all this for only 300 yen each, including tax! Mr. Abe recommended the oysters and shirako were in season, so I decided to try the oysters. The oysters from Sanriku were quite large, and they were flavorful when squeezed with lemon and sprinkled with salt. They were not milky but had a concentrated oyster flavor. And finally, the highlight of the meal, the Kakiage Don. It was filled with plenty of saimaki shrimp from Amakusa, which was delicious! The shrimp was bouncy and flavorful, and the crispy texture was light. I couldn't stop eating the tempura with the rice and dipping sauce. The rice was from Miyagi, and when I asked why they didn't use Niigata rice, Mr. Abe explained that Miyagi rice was delicious, which made sense. There was also a tempura of Moroccan green beans and egg yolk. The egg yolk was slightly runny, and it went perfectly with the rice soaked in the dipping sauce. All this for 2,500 yen in Ginza, can you believe it? Lastly, I had a tempura of pickled plum for dessert. The large plum probably came from Kishu Nanko, and it had candied chestnuts inside! The sweet and sour plum paired well with the sweetness of the chestnuts. It was a delicious way to end the meal. The restaurant was almost full with customers coming in at different times, which was a testament to its popularity. The delicious food at such reasonable prices was definitely worth it. When I asked how long they had been frying tempura, Mr. Abe replied with a smile that they had been doing it for a long time. He was very friendly and I felt warm and cozy. There were also foreign customers sitting next to me. I wondered if they had been living in Japan for a long time, judging by how skillfully they used chopsticks. It's truly a blessing to be able to have lunch at this price in Ginza. The food was delicious, and I'm so glad I came here! Thank you for the meal! ( ´▽`)

Within a 10-minute walk from Yurakucho, you'll arrive at a small elevator that leads you to the only restaurant, Tempura Abe. The counter seats 7 people and is usually full, while there are also table seats in the back that require reservations. For lunch, they offer options like tempura rice bowls with additional toppings or set meals. This time, I tried the 4320 yen course, with plans to add more if I have room. The tempura batter is light and crispy, and the ingredients are not too big, making it easy to eat. The head chef seems to have a lot of experience in tempura, as he works alone and looks very busy. The tempura rice bowl is filled with plenty of shrimp and vegetables, similar to the course menu. I'll try the premium tempura rice bowl next time.

I was wandering around Ginza looking for lunch after working near Tenpura Abe in Shinbashi. The tonkatsu restaurant I first tried to go to had a long line, so I gave up. As I was casually looking for a place to eat, I came across Kotara. This time, I had the tempura set meal with conger eel. It included rolled shrimp, 4 types of vegetables, 3 types of fish, and a choice of kakiage tempura rice bowl or tempura tea-soaked rice. It was a random choice to enter the restaurant, but I had a luxurious lunchtime enjoying freshly fried tempura.

The tempura bowl was delicious!! I visited around 1 pm on a weekday and sat at a table in the back. I was torn between the kakiage-don and the tempura-don, but ended up ordering the tempura-don. The portion size was generous for one person and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The tempura-don arrived shortly after I ordered. It had small shrimp, broccoli, shiitake mushrooms, sweet potatoes, which may seem a bit small in quantity, but the rice texture, sweetness of the sauce, amount of sauce, and frying of the tempura were all perfect. The service was polite and overall, it was a very satisfying tempura-don. The taste was so good that I wanted to eat it again as soon as I finished. Next time, I will try the kakiage-don or the tempura set meal.

Two hungry people without breakfast decided to avoid lining up at a restaurant, so they remembered Tempura Abe in Hacchobori. They chose to enter immediately because of the narrow seating. One of them, still wary from a bad experience with high-end pork cutlet, opted for a lunch with a smaller portion. The other person went for a lunch set. The food arrived quickly, allowing them to eat quickly and become full in a short amount of time. It was truly a satisfying tempura lunch experience. Thank you for the meal.

Michelin Guide Tokyo 2022 selected it as a Bib Gourmand. A sister restaurant of Tempura Abe Ginza Honten. The owner, Mr. Abe, worked as a chef at Nadaman for 30 years before becoming independent. I ordered the Tempura Lunch (1,600 yen). It included 2 prawns, edamame, lotus root, baby corn, broccoli, shiitake mushrooms, and young sweetfish. You can enjoy authentic Edo-style tempura at a reasonable price.

One night, I was about to become a dinner refugee, but luckily I stopped by a branch of Mr. Abe's place that I visited the other day and was able to enjoy delicious tempura. The menu was similar to the main store, with no surprising ingredients, but the tempura was carefully made and freshly fried, so I was very satisfied. If you know of a small tempura restaurant with a view of the night scene like this, you might think it's in Ginza! My partner, who loves tempura, was delighted and even put a bottle of shochu in the bag. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
