This is a trendy "drinkable tempura restaurant" within walking distance from Tenjin, Yakuin, Imaizumi, Daimyo, and Akasaka in Fukuoka. Unlike traditional tempura restaurants that offer set meals, this place focuses on tempura and other side dishes. The atmosphere is modern and stylish, attracting a younger crowd. The recommended drink is a homemade lemon sour, which is not too sweet and goes well with any dish. The uni pudding is a popular appetizer, featuring a chilled chawanmushi with sea urchin and salmon roe. Tempura options include a variety of vegetables and seafood, all served in small portions for a high-quality dining experience. The tempura is light and crispy, perfect for pairing with sake or white wine. Additional side dishes and unique tempura items are also available, making it easy to customize your meal. The dessert tempura, such as strawberry and sweet potato, is a delightful way to end the meal. Overall, the experience at this tempura restaurant is enjoyable and satisfying, with the freedom to choose your own dining adventure.

All the menu items were delicious! There was no greasiness that would make you feel heavy, and the ingredients were very tasty, so I ended up eating too much. The sea urchin pudding served as an appetizer was exquisite, and the soft-boiled egg, okra, daikon, everything was really delicious and I want to go back to eat again! The staff at the restaurant were also kind and friendly, and I had a great time.

A friend made a reservation for me, and it was my first visit to this restaurant! The entire place consists of counter seats, and the shop has a beautiful and stylish bright interior. I prefer cozy izakaya-style places over fancy ones because I feel more relaxed, but this place had a nice, bright atmosphere (I'm not a fan of bright direct lighting). The staff were friendly and approachable, making the meal, drinks, and conversation enjoyable. For the "orders," we had a seasonal tempura platter with 7 kinds of tempura x2, octopus with scallion and salted kelp, and wagyu beef tempura x2. We also added tempura (zucchini, baby corn), draft beer, Nagoka lemon sour, and sake that pairs well with tempura. We chose sea urchin for the appetizer, and the rich flavor of sea urchin was delicious. The octopus with scallion and salted kelp had a savory taste with sesame oil, and the freshness and crunchiness of the octopus were delightful. The seasonal tempura was all delicious, but the zucchini and carrot were exceptional! The zucchini was juicy and sweet, bursting with vegetable goodness. We loved it so much that we ordered an additional serving of zucchini. My friend added sweet corn, and the carrot was incredibly soft and sweet. It was so delicious that my friend couldn't get enough of it! The wagyu beef tempura was flavorful and tender, making every bite a delight. Each tempura had its unique flavor, and the staff recommended the perfect salt for each one. The timing of the meal was just right, not too fast or too slow, allowing us to enjoy the food to the fullest. To complement the tempura, we ordered sake that pairs well with it. When asked about our preferences, we mentioned not knowing much about sake, and the staff kindly explained and recommended the Shino Mine sake, which was just right for us. The portion was generous, and we enjoyed the sake, which went perfectly with the tempura. After a leisurely meal, we were served warm tea and hojicha pudding. It was a delicious and enjoyable experience, and I look forward to visiting again to try the seasonal tempura. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

It was excellent. The tempura was so good that even though I didn't take a photo of it, it was the best tori-ten I've ever had. Everything else was delicious too, and you could tell that they put a lot of care into preparing the dishes. The service was also very good, and the atmosphere was really nice. I will definitely go back!

It's a counter-style restaurant where you can see your food being fried right in front of you and eat it immediately. It's affordable, delicious, and has a variety of drinks. The atmosphere is bright and very cozy. I definitely want to go back again. They also recommend which salt to use for your food.

All-seats-at-the-counter casual tempura izakaya where you can enjoy tempura with alcohol. When you think of tempura, you might imagine a set meal restaurant or a high-end dining establishment, but this place is very popular for enjoying tempura with drinks! For the otoshi (appetizer), I chose the crab pudding. It was filled with plenty of crab meat and had a nice crunchy texture on top, so delicious that I wish they would also serve it as a standalone dish. The Toro Taku was also delightful, with the tempura seaweed adding a crispy texture to the dish. The crab gratin had a generous amount of crab meat, a must-try for crab lovers. The tempura selection included wagyu beef, shirako (milt), shrimp, soft-boiled egg, Unzen ham, bell pepper, and strawberry daifuku. The shirako tempura was wrapped in yuba (tofu skin) and had a creamy texture, while the wagyu beef tempura had juicy meat inside a crispy coating, so tasty that I had to order seconds! The strawberry daifuku was deep-fried, then wrapped in gyuhi (soft rice cake) for a delightful combination of textures. The French toast, although small in size, was incredibly soft and delicious. The equally famous lemon sour had a generous amount of lemon, making it refreshing. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere, combined with delicious food, make it easy to see why this place is always packed even on Mondays. If you want to enjoy delicious tempura and drinks, I highly recommend Nagao.

I went to a restaurant that was recommended online. The menu had a variety of delicious-looking options. I couldn't decide what to order, but ended up choosing the truffle potato salad, sesame mackerel, and tempura set. I also ordered the clay pot rice, taking into consideration my stomach capacity. The potato salad had a chunk of truffle that the staff shaved at the table. While I was watching the truffle fall gently, it accidentally rolled off the staff's hand onto the table. As an apology, they shaved extra truffle for me. For the appetizer, you can choose between sea urchin pudding and crab pudding, so I ordered one of each to share. After trying various dishes, just when I thought I was done eating... the ultimate boss, the clay pot rice, arrived! When the staff opened the lid, the crab shell was revealed with a bang! I was already full, but the aroma made my mouth water. I couldn't resist the delicious seafood flavor in the rice dish. I had intended to visit a tempura restaurant, but I was captivated by the clay pot rice unexpectedly.

Had dinner with a friend after a long time. I was curious about Hakata Tempura Nagao-san that I had passed by before. The counter is quite small, with limited seating. The shirako, carrot, sweet potato, wagyu beef, and shrimp tempura were delicious. The lotus root and small shrimp tempura lacked the taste of lotus root, which was disappointing. The truffle potato salad is made by shaving truffles in front of you. They serve each portion individually in a small dish without having to ask, which is thoughtful. The shrimp tempura musubi had a sauce that was too sweet, I think it would be better with a salty flavor. The mackerel and pickled plum roll has a strong mackerel taste, so it may be a matter of personal preference. The staff are friendly and the restaurant has a lively atmosphere.

I made a reservation for 17:00 as a prelude in Hakata. For the appetizer, you can choose between sea urchin pudding or crab pudding. I ordered sea urchin pudding and a recommended lemon sour. The Toro Taku served before the tempura was also delicious. There were three types of salt available, and various condiments like ponzu made it enjoyable.

Tempura is delicious, of course, but other appetizers are also very tasty. They offer a wide variety of tempura, from classic to seasonal options, as well as unique variations like tempura daifuku. It's great that you can enjoy different flavors in small portions. My favorite appetizer is the octopus with green onion and salted kelp. The seating consists of a unique counter style, so it's best to visit in small groups. The restaurant has limited seating and is always busy, so be sure to make a reservation in advance. The seats are narrow, and it can be quite tight when people walk behind you, so please be cautious. There are many international customers as well.

I was finally able to dine at the popular restaurant "Hakata Tempura Nagao" that is hard to get a reservation at. They serve seasonal ingredients, with a custard pudding as an appetizer. I chose the crab pudding, which was delicious. They also served truffle potato salad with soft-boiled egg, a perfect combination. The tempura dishes included Fukuoka's mackerel with rich flavor, Wagyu beef with a rare texture, Oita's chicken tempura with yuzu pepper and ponzu sauce, Kumamoto's mustard lotus root, crispy shrimp, Oita's Tanaka lotus root, sweet potato from Kyushu, and a sea bream tempura rice ball for the finale. The bill came to 4,000 yen for such high-quality tempura, which was a great deal. They even gave me a warm hand warmer as a parting gift. The hospitality was exceptional.

This was the restaurant I wanted to visit the most during my Fukuoka trip. Although it was a last-minute reservation, I managed to get a table. After trying various foods during my trip, I ordered a few dishes a la carte at this restaurant, and everything was delicious. The lemon sour was also excellent!! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

There are many types of tempura available, with prices ranging from 180 to 280 yen. You wait at the counter for about 20 minutes for your tempura to be fried, which is also an enjoyable time. We had two servings of saury, shrimp, chicken tempura, and horse mackerel tempura, as well as fried clouds, ham, mentaiko, sweet potato, pumpkin, and premium carrots. Everything was delicious, but the premium carrots were particularly surprising, as they were sweet and tender like fruit. There were also non-fried snacks such as sesame mackerel, Iburi gakko pickles, and cheese, which were also delicious. We enjoyed beer, lemon sour, and tempura snacks while eating until we were full, and the total cost for two people was 9,500 yen. The staff were all friendly and attentive, which made it understandable why this place is difficult to make reservations for. We made a reservation through Tabelog, but it may be difficult to get a last-minute reservation, so it's best to book early. The clientele was mostly younger people, so it may be a bit challenging for older customers to enjoy the tempura feast, but since you can order one piece at a time, it is still recommended to be careful not to over-order.

When you first arrive at Nagao's in Hakata, start with their famous Nagao Lemon Sour for a toast. It's the model for the popular drink at Lemon-Do. When you come here, I recommend trying the Lemon Sour. For the appetizer, you can choose between crab pudding or flying fish with a delightful texture. The menu offers a variety of tempura options including shrimp, Anbi mushrooms, Me-hikari fish, Shine Muscat grapes, soft-cooked octopus, and crab with multigrain rice. They also have unique tempura dishes based on seasonal ingredients. The truffle potato salad is a must-try, with a soft-boiled egg on top and truffle sprinkled right before your eyes. The tempura is served with three types of salt - matcha salt, Himalayan rock salt, and Boso Hana salt - enhancing the flavors of the ingredients. The atmosphere is lively and uplifting, filled with hospitality and energy. It's a place where you can always enjoy new and exciting tempura dishes. I had a wonderful and delicious experience once again. Thank you for the meal.

◉Genre: Tempura, Izakaya ◉Area: Imazumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City ◉Access: 5 minutes on foot from Yakuin Odori Station on the Fukuoka City Subway ◉Parking: None (Coin parking available nearby) ◉Credit card payment: Available ◉Number of visits: First time ◉Number of reviews: 1st review On this day, I visited "Hakata Tempura Nagao" in Imazumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. ◇Exterior and Interior This izakaya specializes in tempura and is located in Imazumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. The exterior is characterized by a traditional Japanese atmosphere with a striking white noren curtain, while the interior is bright and unified in wooden tones, creating a lively atmosphere despite its small size. The restaurant is casual and non-smoking inside, with smoking allowed outside. ◇Seating All seats are at the counter, with around 15 seats. ◇Menu Structure Upon seating, the staff will show you a wooden box containing the day's recommended ingredients. After that, the appetizer is optional, and you can choose from the regular menu. I ordered the following: - Tempura: This was my 4th attempt at making a reservation today. The previous 3 attempts were unsuccessful, and each time I wondered if the lemon sour was delicious or the tempura was delicious. I had high expectations each time, and if this attempt failed, I thought it would be a sign of bad luck. However, I miraculously received an OK on the day itself. Of course, it wasn't early, but still. Due to my own assumptions, I decided to try the tempura with lemon sour, so I ordered burdock, shiitake mushrooms (180 yen), premium carrots (250 yen), Unzen ham (280 yen), Me-hikari (380 yen), shirako (480 yen), etc. Each item was carefully prepared and delicious. Among them, burdock and Me-hikari were particularly recommended. There are three types of salt on the table, and it was nice to have explanations for each option, such as eating with tempura sauce or as it is. The lemon sour was surprisingly dry, which was probably chosen to complement the tempura, and I was impressed by the system of refills... lol ◆Strong Points This popular tempura izakaya in Imazumi was quite delicious! ◆Service The service was above average and there seems to be a lot of room for improvement, but the basic style was well established. ◆Summary Just like yakitori, there is definitely a trend towards more interactive presentations like sushi. In the end, it was clear that it is difficult to make a reservation if you go early. I wouldn't say that "everything is top-notch," but being able to enjoy tempura at a reasonable price and not being a high-end restaurant makes it attractive for everyday use. It was a good memory that I happened to have a great time at a shop I like in Yahata Nishi-ku... lol By the way, the restaurant provides mineral water instead of free tap water, and I fully support this decision... lol Thank you for the meal! ^ ^

Today I visited a tempura restaurant that is difficult to make reservations at. I love tempura, so I was thrilled when I finally got a reservation and went there! Even though it was past 9pm, the restaurant was constantly busy with customers coming and going. The appetizer was a pudding with sea urchin and salmon roe, which was absolutely delicious. The menu had a variety of daily recommendations and regular items to choose from, making it exciting to decide what to order! I ordered dishes like smelt, mushrooms, and sardine meatballs, and the chef kindly recommended how to eat each one. I've been into Unzen ham recently, so I also ordered that from the menu. It was a bit small, but the combination with mustard was excellent! For dessert, I had roasted green tea which was also delicious with a strong flavor. Everything was delicious! The restaurant is not very spacious, so I recommend coming with just one or two people. Thank you for the meal!

The revolution of tempura at Tempura Uniprin begins with unique ingredients such as watermelon, peach, French toast, mandarin orange daifuku, and grilled rice balls that overturn the traditional tempura norms. The food is delicious! The restaurant is clean, with no greasy feeling from the oil, and the staff are friendly, lively, and engage in pleasant conversations with customers. They are attentive and create a fun dining atmosphere, making you want to come back again. It's understandable why reservations are necessary. I felt that this place is where new types of tempura artisans come up with various creative ideas.

Hot and crispy tempura with delicious Japanese sake, this is the place to be! Nagao ka, a famous tempura restaurant in Hakata, caught my attention and I finally got to visit. First, I tried the refreshing watermelon sour, perfect for summer. I also found out they have watermelon tempura, which was a new discovery for me. The luxurious appetizer, a custard pudding with sea urchin or crab, was top-notch and I loved the sea urchin option. I ordered a variety of tempura and snacks to go with the dry sake recommended by the staff, a brand called "Nito." It was dry yet refreshing, easy to drink and delicious. The friendly staff made the experience even better, and I can't wait to go back to this amazing restaurant.

Secondly, we started with the usual tempura at Nagao. We ordered a Chablis to start. I always end up eating too much, so I asked for some recommendations and tried to be modest. Tempura: Nori Tempura with Toro Taku (fatty tuna) - Who would have thought of deep-frying fatty tuna? They even deep-fried seaweed, which had an amazing aroma. It came with caviar on top, making it feel luxurious. Other tempura items included: Fresh live conger eel, Daikon radish, Mustard lotus root, Camembert cheese - Perfect pairing with wine!!! With cheese tempura, I could drink wine forever (laughs). And finally, Wagyu beef tempura. They seemed to have overheard our toast for a birthday, as a birthday plate appeared at the end as a surprise. Despite being busy, their thoughtful gesture made us happy. Our stomachs and hearts were both satisfied, and we left feeling content. This lively restaurant always makes me want to come back. Whenever I visit, I feel energized. Once again, the food was consistently delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I chose a popular tempura restaurant for a trip to Fukuoka with my wife. The service from the staff was excellent, the counter was spacious, and there were two options for the appetizer. I tried a Uni panna cotta-like dish which was incredibly delicious. The tempura dishes such as mentaiko, asparagus, and the carrot in the photo were all amazing. The highest quality carrots? The half-cooked egg was also fantastic. The highball drink tasted better here than at other places for some reason. Why(?_?)

Nagaoka-san, who is particularly bustling on Ujinohashi Street, is a place I love so much that I have visited countless times. You can casually enjoy freshly fried tempura made with seasonal vegetables, fish, and meat, as well as a great lineup of shochu brands. The "Koubashi Chawari" in the photo is incredibly delicious! The brothers from Nagaoka are always friendly and warm, creating a great atmosphere in the restaurant. It's a top-notch restaurant that is perfect for everyday use.
