I went to the restaurant "Chugoku Kyosen Suiren," where you can enjoy the best shark fin ramen. This restaurant specializes in shark fin dishes. Although dishes like shark fin stew can be pricey, the shark fin rice and ramen available for lunch are relatively affordable, which is great. This time, I ordered the "Ichinosen" set (shark fin ramen, rice, dim sum, pickles included). First, the rice, pickles, and dim sum are served. Then comes the shark fin ramen. The soup is irresistible. The slightly sweet shark fin combined with the flavorful soup creates a delicious broth. Eating this ramen with the soup is just fantastic. It's incredibly delicious. I planned to leave some rice to eat with the ramen soup later, but the homemade pickles were so tasty that I finished all the rice in one go. I got a refill of rice and dove into the remaining soup. You can enjoy both ramen and shark fin rice. The satisfaction after eating is incredible. My stomach is full, but I don't feel heavy, probably because of the shark fin. I'm definitely going back to eat this ramen again.

I visited during the day because the prices are high. I ordered the lunch set with shark fin rice. It came with spring rolls, soup, and side dishes along with the main shark fin rice. It may look rich in flavor at first glance, but it's not at all. It was very delicious. You can also request to have less rice since the portion is quite big. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also nice. I would like to go back someday to try the evening course.

I went to "Suiren" for the first time to try a shark fin dish. Since it was my first visit, I ordered the second meal set for 2970 yen. You can choose between shark fin rice or shark fin ramen, and it comes with three appetizers and dessert. Since there were two of us, we ordered the ramen and rice and shared them. First, we had the three appetizers: snap peas, jellyfish from Ariake Sea, and chicken. They were all delicious, especially the chicken which was incredibly tasty. The jellyfish had a nice crunchy texture. Now onto the main dishes: shark fin rice and shark fin ramen. The shark fin rice was served on a sizzling hot plate with crispy rice and shark fin sauce on top. The burnt rice part was the best. The flavor was rich and the texture of the shark fin with the rice was perfect. The shark fin ramen was a bit lighter in comparison, and personally, I preferred the ramen. After finishing the ramen, we poured the remaining soup over the rice, and it was so delicious with the combination of flavors and textures. Lastly, the dessert of almond tofu and ice cream was incredibly tasty. The homemade almond tofu was smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. I want to enjoy a leisurely evening here.

The restaurant is close to my home and I've always been curious about it, but I felt like the price was a bit high for me and didn't have the courage to go. However, I was invited for lunch this time, so I visited. I heard that a course was reserved, so I skipped breakfast to be fully prepared. I can't explain the dishes in detail, but overall, the impression was that the balance was good. Each dish had a good balance of spiciness and freshness, and the tea with tea leaves in between complemented the meal nicely. The main dish of rice with shark fin sauce had mixed reviews, but for me, it was just the right level of deliciousness within the overall flow. The dessert and the exchange of cold towels afterwards... it felt like taking a good hot spring bath, with a refreshing sigh. I felt like I enjoyed a story. I want to go again...

The hot and steaming Fukahire rice bowl with thick sauce will heat up your mouth! It's amazing that you can eat so much Fukahire at such a great price!!! I was surprised by the cost performance. Reservation is required. I really want you to try it once! It was really delicious. Thank you so muchhhh

There are several restaurants in Kyoto that specialize in serving shark fin rice, with the original being Shirohan Takehashi-rou. I haven't been to Shirohan Takehashi-rou, but being a well-known establishment, I had a certain expectation for their food. However, it turned out to be quite surprising. Some past reviews described it as tasting like "barbecue sauce," and I can see why. For lunch, you can opt for the expensive Yoshikiri Shark Fin Stew, or the more affordable Ichinozen or Ninnozen sets, which both include shark fin rice with soup and a side dish. I chose the Ninnozen set, which also came with three appetizers and dessert. The dessert was a prelude to the shaved ice I was planning to have later. The appetizers were a mild soup and spring rolls, which were fine. Then came the shark fin rice, which was served on a sizzling hot iron plate, causing oil or sauce to splatter all around. The shark fin was plentiful and the flavor was surprisingly sweet and thick, which didn't sit well with me. It was my first time tasting shark fin prepared in such a way. Other reviews mentioned a delicious white wine and onion sauce served with the dish in the evening course, but that wasn't included in the lunch set. The rice was too intense for my liking, and the portion was too much. The traditional Chinese atmosphere in the restaurant is typical of Kyoto, and the well-used kitchen adds to the charm. While the food may be delicious to many, unfortunately, the strong and sweet flavors didn't suit my taste.

China Xiangzhen Sui Ren near Kyoto Nijo Castle. Rejected twice on the same day reservation, but finally accepted on the third attempt with a reservation made the day before. The calm atmosphere of the traditional townhouse, sitting at the counter, I ordered the "Ninozen" with abalone sauce over rice for 2,700 yen, along with 2 bottled beers. The owner poured me the first beer. For the appetizers, there was seared bonito, tomato puree, jellyfish vinegar, spring rolls, egg soup, and pickles. The sizzling hot abalone sauce over rice was served on a hot plate, with plenty of sauce and crispy rice to enjoy.

Thanks to the connection through French Bulldogs, I discovered this shop. The shop's mascot, a French Bulldog named Ren, is the reason I found this place. My dog Hachi and I came from Tokyo to Kyoto last year and this year during Obon to enjoy delicious shark fin dishes. Last year we had shark fin rice, so this year we tried shark fin ramen ^_^ Oh man, the dishes made by Ren's dad here are really delicious. The shark fin rice was great, but the ramen was also incredibly tasty ^_^ If I can come back next year, I'd like to try the shark fin soup. Ren, Mom and Dad, it was really delicious. And the new French Bulldog I was introduced to, Pico-chan, was also adorable ^_^ I would be happy to see them again! Ossu ossu!

I went again! I never get tired of this taste... The sea cucumber sauce here is truly exceptional! I've tried sea cucumber dishes at various places, but this place is really different! Even though the Chinese vegetable called "kawashichi" is cooked, it's still crunchy and full of flavor... It tasted like spinach.

A little while ago, I visited Suien, located within walking distance from the Nijo Castle in Kyoto. The shop's traditional machiya style and the Chinese characters on the noren curtain at the entrance create a charming atmosphere. I ordered the "Fukahire Ankake Gohan" lunch set, which came with soup, spring rolls, and pickled vegetables. The highlight was the sizzling hot plate with shiny fukahire on a bed of rice covered in a flavorful sauce. The portion of fukahire was generous and delicious, with a slightly sweet taste that paired well with the rice. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would love to try their fukahire course dinner if given the chance.

Having shark fin for lunch is a luxury. You need to make a reservation for the lunch course in advance. On this day, we opted for the most expensive course at ¥14,000. It included three appetizers, shark fin sashimi, shrimp tempura with chili sauce, shark fin stewed on a hot plate, rice set, and almond tofu for dessert. The shark fin stew was particularly delicious with its large size and rich sauce. It's a decadent and addictive taste. Although it's pricey, I would love to go back again.

When I go to Kyoto, I stay at my friend's house nearby this restaurant! Their lunch special seems to be fukahire (shark fin)! It's served on a sizzling hot plate with rice, topped with fukahire sauce that sizzles and smells irresistibly appetizing. The slightly sweet sauce paired with the tender fukahire was incredibly delicious. The kind couple who runs the place also have a French Bulldog like mine, so we hit it off right away. I visit Kyoto often, so I will definitely come back again! Next time, I think I'll try the fukahire ramen! Ossu ossu!

We were seated at a table for four people as we had made a reservation. There seemed to be only counter seating available otherwise. The omakase course offered a choice between Fukahire ankake rice or Fukahire ankake ramen. Both were slightly sweet and irresistible to women. The rice dish was particularly appealing as the sauce was bubbling and simmering on the plate, giving a visual indication of its deliciousness. One person who chose the ramen said, "Next time, I'm definitely getting the rice!"

The atmosphere was nice and the taste was delicious, but the portion was too large and I got tired of it halfway through. I think reducing the amount of noodles and adding a simple sweet (such as bite-sized jelly) would further increase satisfaction and balance.

The stewed sea cucumber dish is incredibly delicious. It's not oysters or hot pot, but cooked in a white wine and onion sauce that makes you want to keep coming back for more! You can even change the last dish to sea cucumber with sauce, leaving you satisfied and full! Planning to go again next week!
