In the residential area of Matsueicho, there is a popular diner called Matsue. Just like the Haruka-tei I visited the day before, this place seems to have been around for a while. It's a cozy spot where local ladies come to eat, chat with the staff, and sometimes get takeout. They had daily lunch specials, but I checked out the menu posted all around the restaurant. There were lots of dishes to go with drinks, as well as rice dishes. Among them, I found an interesting and unique menu item: Pork Loin Ham and Cheese Scissor Grilled with Curry Sauce and Hungarian-style Young Chicken. The mention of Hungarian-style made me think of tomato stew, which was a nice touch. I decided to order the Pork Loin Ham and Cheese Scissor Grilled with Curry Sauce as a standalone dish, with rice and miso soup on the side. The Pork Loin Ham and Cheese Scissor Grilled with Curry Sauce arrived on a plate with salad. It turned out to be a thick slice of pork loin with ham and cheese sandwiched in between. While the pork loin itself wasn't thick, the combination made it substantial. It was topped with curry sauce, which was more like curry roux. The spiciness was mild, but the vegetables added a rich flavor. It felt like a dish with a bit of everything. This place seems to be loved by the locals.
