I went to Daitoen, a yakiniku restaurant in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. I entered the restaurant right at opening time, and even though I didn't have a reservation, they said it would be okay to wait for about 40 minutes. I ordered the Daitoen set meal (2,640 yen) which I could pay for using PayPay. The set meal arrived first, followed by the meat about 5 minutes later. The meat, made with Kyushu Wagyu, had a beautiful marbling. I tried not to overcook it. The meat selection included aged tongue salt, jaw tongue salt, loin, kalbi, tongue tip, and upper hormone, which was quite luxurious. The meat was excellent, but the sauces like soy sauce, lemon, and miso were a bit overshadowed by the meat. Overall, the set meal was just average. For dessert, I chose almond jelly with wolfberry on top, which was satisfying. The restaurant offers high-quality meat, but the atmosphere and service are more like a casual yakiniku place. There's no need for a dress code, so you can feel free to drop in. However, reservations are necessary. They also have business lunch options for under 1,000 yen, making it a casual dining spot.
