I had squid sashimi at Takarajyo, a seafood restaurant in Takasago, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. It is a dish that is a specialty of Yobuko in Saga Prefecture, and not commonly found in Fukuoka, so I took this opportunity to try it as part of their lunch set. The "Squid Sashimi Set" costs 1500 yen and comes with rice, miso soup, side dishes, squid dumplings, and a tempura dish. The squid was fresh and had a nice crunchy texture. The side dish was sautéed squid with butter and soy sauce, and the squid dumplings were delicious. I forgot to take a photo of the tempura dish made with squid legs and empura. In the evening, they also serve sesame mackerel, sashimi, grilled meat on a hot stone, and motsu nabe. The restaurant is located a 6-minute walk from Nishitetsu Hirao Station.

We had a farewell party for work and my daughter's cram school at Hojo. The mackerel sashimi and butter-fried abalone were delicious. There was no squid, but we were able to order a variety of other dishes.

I made a reservation by phone the day before in the evening. Otherwise, you can write your name on the board starting from 11:30 on the day and wait for a vacancy. I checked on Instagram if there was any squid in stock that day. Unfortunately, there wasn't any... But still, I ordered a seafood bowl, yangnyeom chicken, and sesame mackerel because they were cheap. The seafood bowl had delicious marinated tuna and salmon, and the sesame mackerel was surprisingly generous in portion! It was fresh and excellent. I wonder why I added yangnyeom chicken, but it was delicious so it's fine. Next time, I'll definitely have some squid!

When you visit Fukuoka, do you want to try live squid sashimi? I woke up in the morning and immediately searched for a restaurant. I happened to find one and had to wait for about 45 minutes without a lunch reservation. The squid was still moving! The texture was chewy! The taste was sweet! The sight of the live squid made the deliciousness even better. It was a lucky encounter with a famous restaurant, and I am grateful for it.

I visited "Hoshou" in Nishitetsu Hirao, Fukuoka, which had a great reputation. We started with the squid from Yobuko, 320g for two people. It was delicious and made my mouth numb. The sesame mackerel was also excellent, with a flavor that I liked. The squid tentacles were made into tempura, which was also superb. I tried the squid shumai for the first time, and it was delicious as well. I have become completely captivated by Hoshou. I already want to go back next week in search of more squid. Fukuoka is the best.

During a business trip in Fukuoka on a Saturday, I visited Takarajyo for a solo lunch after the gym. It's located about a 6-minute walk from Nishitetsu Hirao Station. Takarajyo is a very popular restaurant known for its seafood lunches! I arrived around 11:40 and there was no line, but the place was full. I had to put my name on the waiting board and wait on a bench in the shade. Even before entering the restaurant, the hospitality was impressive with menus on the bench and a jug of cold barley tea. After about 15 minutes, I was seated inside. The seating consists of a counter and a raised tatami area, with a total of 26 seats. I sat at the end of the counter. On the table, there were tonkatsu sauce, dressing, sashimi soy sauce, soy sauce, salt, toothpicks, paper napkins, and a pitcher of barley tea. I ordered the following: - Live squid sashimi (220g) for 2,640 yen - C set (chawanmushi, squid dumplings) for 540 yen - Spicy cod roe for 170 yen, totaling 3,350 yen. The live squid is priced per gram. On that day, it was 1,200 yen for 100g. Rice is free for refills. In about 15 minutes, the food arrived. Live squid, chawanmushi, squid dumplings, mozuku seaweed, takana pickles, spicy cod roe rice, miso soup – a fantastic lineup. Wasabi, additional salt, and sashimi soy sauce were also provided. The live squid was delicious with both soy sauce and salt. The chawanmushi and squid dumplings were also very satisfying. You can have the squid legs deep-fried after finishing the sashimi, so I got another serving of rice. I was completely satisfied with the lunch, which didn't feel like a typical lunch at all! Takarajyo accepts reservations only for the 11:30 slot for lunch. It's a great restaurant with excellent service. I highly recommend visiting at least once.

On the first night in Fukuoka, we went to "Hoshou" to have some squid with my wife's mother. This place was recommended by our acquaintance, F-san, who suggested it as a great option on a Sunday evening when many other places were crowded. F-san joined us for dinner with his wife as well. We arrived a few minutes late at 6:00 pm and ordered some drinks. We then ordered squid and sesame mackerel, both of which were delicious. The squid had a crunchy texture and a beautiful appearance. The leftover squid legs were made into tempura, which was crispy and tasty. The sesame mackerel was also very good. We also had horse sashimi with vinegar and rolled omelette with dashi. The rolled omelette had a nice sweetness to it, typical of Fukuoka cuisine. We chose a slightly sweet option, and it was quite sweet, so we wondered what 5 sweet would taste like. The flavors were all great. My wife's mother wanted to have mackerel sashimi, so we ordered that as well. The mackerel sashimi was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. One of the great things about northern Kyushu is being able to enjoy mackerel sashimi. The bones from the three pieces were used to make miso soup, which was also delicious. We were very satisfied with the meal and the cost performance was great. We were grateful that the restaurant was open on a Sunday. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I made a reservation a week ago and visited the restaurant. I called ahead to confirm if they had squid available, as sometimes they don't have it due to weather conditions. I visited on Saturday night and the restaurant was fully booked with no empty seats. I was glad I made a reservation! The restaurant had a live tank which added to the atmosphere. I ordered their famous 200g of squid sashimi, live sesame mackerel, fried and steamed squid dumplings, assorted live sashimi, squid tempura, mentaiko omelette, and grilled stingray fin. The squid sashimi was incredibly fresh and delicious! It was seasoned with salt and a slightly sweet soy sauce, and it was irresistible! And the price was surprisingly low at 1300 yen for 100 grams, which is a steal! I've had squid sashimi at other places but at this price, it's hard to find anywhere else. The fried and steamed squid dumplings were also delicious, with the steamed one being my favorite. The sesame mackerel was fresh, fatty, and had a great flavor that was addictive. The mentaiko omelette was also very tasty and the portion was generous. The assorted sashimi was all delicious, especially the amberjack and horse mackerel which were of high quality. Everything I tried was incredibly delicious and the cost performance was amazing! We drank plenty of alcohol and the total bill for two people was less than 14,000 yen, which was a pleasant surprise! This is a fantastic restaurant that I will definitely visit again. If my friends visit Fukuoka, this will be the first place I take them to! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

We arrived before the opening time for lunch, but there were already several groups in line! Even though there was a board to write our names on, we didn't see it and ended up waiting without writing our name, which was a big mistake! But we managed to get in on the second round. Luckily, we got there before they sold out of squid! The squid arrived, so fresh that its legs were still moving! We immediately tried the sashimi, which was crunchy with a hint of sweetness, and incredibly delicious! It was a texture and taste like no other squid I've ever had before. The set also included a delicious chawanmushi. After finishing the sashimi, we had the squid legs tempura. It was soft and absolutely delicious! We thought we wouldn't finish the generous portion, but the three of us devoured it in no time. We had a wonderful time enjoying reasonably priced squid from Yobuko, with friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.

They serve almost the same quality of squid as in Yobuko! They have a tank inside the restaurant where they prepare the squid alive just like in Yobuko. The fried squid legs are delicious. The sashimi and fried horse mackerel we ordered were also very tasty. It's quite far from Fukuoka to Yobuko, so I think this place is good enough.

I visited Fukuoka after a long time because I wanted to try fresh sashimi. The restaurant is located near Nishitetsu Hirao, and you can also walk from Watanabe-dori. I visited before noon on a holiday and was able to enter without waiting for an hour. I ordered a set of fresh squid sashimi and squid shumai. The squid was sweet, very tender, and absolutely delicious. I also had the leftover tentacles fried as tempura, which was also tasty. Thank you for the meal!

The price of squid has gone up due to high demand, but it still seems to be the cheapest to eat in Fukuoka. The transparent squid has a firm and sweet taste that is consistently good. The set with chawanmushi and squid dumplings comes with free rice refills, so you can eat until you're full.

At that intersection near the river, just head towards Hirao Station and you'll find it on the first floor of a building. It seems like a restaurant with squid as its main dish, as I casually observed. My friend highly recommended it, so I went for a weekday lunch. The big TV caught my attention. I ordered the seafood bowl for 1450 yen. It had salmon, tuna, yellowtail, sea bream, and squid, I think. I had it with sesame dressing. The fresh sashimi was deliciously firm. They accept cash and PayPay. When I told my friend I had been there, they asked about Amuro. Amuro? What? Oh, did you not see the toilet? I looked it up online and it seems like the restroom is filled with Amuro Namie's autographs and pictures. I missed it! Next time, I'll make sure to check it out. Oh, Amuro-chan fan, huh? I confirmed that they discreetly placed DVDs of her 20th anniversary. I would like to visit again to try their squid dishes. There are two parking spots right in front, but they were full, so I parked a bit further and walked.

Both during the day and at night, this restaurant is bustling with local and traveling customers. Today, as soon as it opened, it was already full. I came here looking for a great deal on seafood lunch, and I was not disappointed. Although I was hoping for fresh squid sashimi, it wasn't available due to rough seas. However, I was still very satisfied with the other menu options. The set meals are great value, and you can even get free refills of rice. I left feeling completely satisfied. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Thank you for taking care of us this New Year as well. Although they didn't have squid, we enjoyed a delicious meal of flounder and left feeling satisfied. The restaurant was crowded with customers since it was open during the New Year holiday, but I was impressed to see a female staff member handling all the serving by herself. She even showed consideration for my pregnant sister-in-law with her words. I was touched by the excellent customer service. This is a restaurant that I definitely want to visit again.

Seafood zuke-don with toriten for 1100 yen. I visited the restaurant after seeing a photo of the akami and otoro don which looked delicious. I made a reservation over the phone, but was told they didn't have squid. When I asked if they had a maguro don, they said they did. However, when I arrived, they had the maguro don but no otoro...disappointing. I should have asked if they had the akami and otoro don. They apologized for being sold out when I left, so it can't be helped. I'll come back for revenge someday. Both the zuke-don and toriten were delicious. The zuke-don had a slightly sesame-like flavor which was tasty. The toriten was crispy, and considering you can add it for just 300 yen, it was quite filling.

I made a reservation a la carte and had fresh squid sashimi! The sashimi was crunchy, tender, sweet, and delicious! I also had grilled squid legs, which had a different texture and flavor when grilled, and it was great! I ordered squid shumai, which came in a set of 3, but I asked the staff to change it to 4 pieces for a different price. It was my first time trying it, and the minced squid was delicious. I forgot to take a photo, but I also ordered chicken nanban for 400 yen, which had large pieces of chicken and plenty of tartar sauce, and it was delicious. A must-order item! Lastly, I had motsunabe, which I've seen with soy sauce or miso before, but this restaurant's version had a gentle and delicious flavor from the broth, meat, and vegetables. I would love to go on another gourmet trip to Fukuoka!

On a Sunday lunchtime, I visited "Hoshou" which is located about a 10-minute walk from Nishitetsu Hirao Station. I had been curious about this place because they offer fresh squid sashimi directly from Imari. - The restaurant has parking space for about 3 cars. I felt relieved after confirming the availability of squid on the menu board outside the restaurant (it's wise to call ahead to confirm as well). Inside, there are tatami seating in the front and a counter seating area in the back. The large TV in the kitchen and the live squid tank caught my attention. - Arriving around 1:10 PM, the tatami seats were full, so I was seated at the counter. - Menu options include squid sashimi set meals in three varieties: A Set: Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) B Set: Squid dumplings C Set: Chawanmushi, squid dumplings Each set comes with side dishes, rice, miso soup, and pickles. There are also options like "Today's customizable lunch" where you can choose from horse mackerel fry, minced cutlet, or grilled saury, and "Sashimi Tempura Set Meal". - This time, I chose the Squid sashimi A Set. They mentioned that "Squid is sold by weight at 1,200 yen per 100g." So, I asked for a larger squid. (The total bill was 2,820 yen). - The chef prepared the squid in front of me, taking it out of the tank. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The squid weighed 210g. It was big, transparent, and lively! - I tried it first with Imari salt as recommended. The texture was amazing, crunchy with a hint of sweetness. Then, I tried it with a sweeter soy sauce typical of Kyushu. Squeezing citrus over it made it twitch. I had the "Bungo Aji" set meal, which includes small side dishes, chawanmushi, horse mackerel fry, miso soup, and rice for 2600 yen. The horse mackerel was freshly taken from the fish tank, needless to say, it was delicious. The size was quite big, so it was very satisfying to eat. The thick horse mackerel fry was really tasty. It's a luxurious set meal with two main dishes. I want to try the live squid sashimi next time, and there are many other tempting lunch options as well. Thank you for the meal.

During my trip to Fukuoka, I visited Takarajyo. I had pre-ordered several dishes that I wanted to try! All the dishes were so appealing, and this time I ordered mentaiko tamagoyaki, live squid sashimi, anago tempura, horse sashimi, and motsunabe. Mentaiko tamagoyaki was fluffy, sweet, and delicious, with a nostalgic taste. The live squid sashimi was moving until right before I ate it! I enjoyed the transparent and fresh squid with soy sauce or salt from Itoshima. The tempura batter was light and perfect. The horse sashimi was refreshing with lean meat. The motsunabe was perfect for a slightly chilly day, with tender motsu and irresistible broth. The Gachi Ice Pine drink was a highball with frozen pine instead of ice, making it a delicious drink to enjoy with the meal! All the rice dishes were delicious, but what stood out the most was the kindness of the staff, especially the friendly waitress. I was running late due to a train delay, so I called ahead, and they were so considerate and even checked the bus schedule for my return journey. The kitchen manager was always smiling, making it a great restaurant that I would love to visit again. I wish there were more restaurants like this nearby.

(2022.08.29) Near the intersection of Nokawa Yotsukado, there is a restaurant called "Shun no Ryori Takarasho" where you can enjoy "live squid sashimi set meal" for 1,500 yen. I had planned to visit about half a year ago, but due to stormy weather, they didn't have the ingredients and I had to give up. So, on this day which is known as Yakiniku Day, I felt like having seafood and decided to give it another try. As soon as I arrived, a party of guests was waiting on the bench outside the entrance, but we were quickly ushered inside and seated at the counter without having to wait for more than 10 minutes. In the raised seating area where four 4-person table seats are placed, there are lined up izakaya menus, and a large tank in front of the counter where various seafood like squid and Bungo horse mackerel from Yobuko are swimming. I decided to go for the live squid sashimi, but due to the high cost of squid, the price has been changed to 1,200 yen per 100g. I went ahead and ordered the C set which includes Chawanmushi and squid shumai, even though it would exceed my budget, as it was a special occasion. Squid is very delicate to temperature changes, and even just touching it with hands can cause burns or discoloration, making it difficult to handle. The live squid served here was sparkling like crystal, with a crunchy texture and sweetness to enjoy. The sweetness paired with the soy sauce from Kyushu really enhanced the flavor. The tentacles and internal organs that were moving energetically just moments ago were now served as tempura. While it was a shame that the rice and soup had cooled during this time, the crispy tempura coating and chewy texture of the meat were satisfying. The sweetness was even stronger than the sashimi, so it would be nice to have it with salt as well as tempura dipping sauce. The pre-made squid shumai aside, the chawanmushi was not exceptional enough to be included, and the rice seemed dry and crumbly. Despite the disappointing lack of attention to timing for taking orders and prompting for the next course, the delicious main dish made it all the more regrettable.
