Today, after work, a friend and I visited "Nihonkai Shoya" in Oimori. Wow, I didn't expect this place to be so stylish! It has a traditional Japanese atmosphere, almost like a high-class restaurant. The chefs cooking at the counter kitchen are very focused. It was clear right away that this is a high-quality restaurant. First, we ordered drinks. I had a Jack Daniel's highball. The staff's customer service is excellent, making the dining experience enjoyable. The appetizer was "Shrimp, Okra, and Onsen Egg," giving off a luxurious traditional restaurant vibe. We had a sashimi platter (salmon, tuna, sea bream), all sweet and fresh! A platter of blue fish was also delicious. I tried flying fish for the first time, thinly sliced and tender. The sea urchin sashimi was amazing, a rare treat! The seared firefly squid smoked dish was a delightful snack for drinkers. The more you chew, the smoky flavor spreads in your mouth. The pickled cucumber was well-pickled, adding a touch of luxury. We also had simmered flounder, a dish not commonly found at home, but delicious. I enjoyed it with a glass of Black Kirishima on the rocks. The honey lemon sour was unique and tasty, with a rich honey flavor. We tried two fresh oysters, simply dipped in sauce. The grilled salmon belly was beautifully fatty and melted in the mouth. It came with salmon roe, adding a touch of luxury. The white shrimp tempura was a favorite, the saltiness complementing the alcohol. The crab cream croquette was rich and flavorful, with a crispy exterior. The clam steamed dish was also delicious. We enjoyed a cup of Yuki No Bosha sake. The South Ume sour was refreshing, with salty pickled plums. We ended our meal with a warm soup. We sat at a table for two today, but it would be fun to come with a larger group. "Nihonkai Shoya" offers hearty fisherman's dishes made with freshly caught seafood. They also have a selection of Japanese sake and shochu from all over Japan. If you're looking for a stylish yet approachable high-class dining experience, this is the place to visit. I'll definitely come back!
