I visited a restaurant near Daitokuji in Kyoto and decided to make a reservation on the same day because I was leaving that day and was worried it might be full. Luckily, they had availability for the time I wanted. I visited several places in Daitokuji and was glad I made a reservation as there were people waiting inside. I sat at the counter on the second floor, ordered the seasonal set, and also tried the craft beer they had. The set included peach tofu, which was a unique combination of peach sweetness wrapped in tofu, but the texture of the tofu was rich and delicious. There were also five types of tofu dishes, saba sushi, one kyufu and okra sesame salad, tenderloin, and a soba dish served with salt. For dessert, I had a selection of sweets including seven types of beans, green beans, Daitokuji natto, all with a refined sweetness and a variety of bean flavors. I also tried craft beer from WAKUDEN and Ebisu. It was a slightly luxurious lunch, and the staff served the dishes at the right pace, allowing me to enjoy the meal smoothly. Thank you for the feast.

I wanted to eat delicious soba in Kyoto, and I found this restaurant along Kitaoji Street. It is a soba restaurant in the renowned Kyoto cuisine chain, Wakuden. I ordered the hand-made soba for 1,100 yen and added 500 yen for a large serving. The noodles were thin, light grey, slightly dry, but had an elegant and delicious taste. As a side dish for the soba, I ordered oyster tempura for 1,600 yen. It was my first time trying oysters as tempura, and it was delicious! The soba broth at the end was excellent. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building, with a very calming atmosphere. It even feels like you hesitate to chat.

It was very delicious! The staff at the restaurant were all polite and attentive. When we entered the restaurant, there was a souvenir shop, and we were told that the dining area was on the second floor. The soba noodles were all priced under 1000 yen. I was intrigued by the scallop tempura, which was priced at 1650 yen. It was slightly expensive, but I decided to order it. The scallop was fresh, not fishy, and very delicious. Before the main meal arrived, we were served yuba tofu, which was also very tasty. I learned that the soba flour used was from the Akagi region in Gunma prefecture. I wonder if it changes depending on the day? The soba broth was thick and very flavorful. I would love to visit again.

I had the chef's choice for lunch. The steamed rice with cherry shrimp and asparagus was soft and hard to pick up, with a nice salty flavor from the cherry shrimp. Next was a plate with mackerel sushi, yuba tofu, Daikokuji tofu, okara salad, and duck breast, followed by soba noodles from Gunma. The salt was from Noto, giving a gentle flavor rather than a sharp saltiness. The soba soup was thick and delicious, made by adding soba flour. Finally, I had a dessert called Shippo, which had various ingredients like sesame and Daikokuji natto, and was tasty.

Soba restaurant at the famous ryotei Wakuden in Kyoto. I was in a hurry, so I only ordered the hand-made soba for 1100 yen. The soba is served with salt and soba dipping sauce. It's truly delicious, but the portion is quite small. It might be better to order tempura or other dishes and enjoy the meal while drinking.

I had hand-made soba noodles for 1,100 yen, mackerel sushi for 1,100 yen, and a small size of Wakuden beer for 1,210 yen at Goshu-in in Kuramaguchi, Kyoto. The soba noodles tasted delicious even with just salt, the mackerel sushi was thick and flavorful, and the craft beer had a rich aroma and taste that paired well with the soba noodles and mackerel sushi. It was all very delicious! (◍•ᴗ•◍)

I wanted to eat soba in Kyoto, so I visited Wakuden's soba restaurant. I had a course meal, and everything from the appetizer to the soba and dessert was delicious. The soba was made with 100% buckwheat flour and you can enjoy the flavor with just salt. I would love to visit again when I go to Kyoto.

I visited for a business trip after three years. The restaurant uses carefully selected ingredients from Itsutsu, a part of the Wakuden group, although I won't specify the exact location. The spicy soba was delicious enough to drink the dipping sauce. I chose scallops for tempura, and the natural flavors were excellent. Thank you for the meal. I would like to visit again.

Visited the soba specialty shop "Go" run by Shino Wakuhisa. Seasonal set (¥4400) first warm dish. Daikon with karasumi and rice. Next, seasonal assortment. Duck roast, wheat gluten, yuba tofu, okara, mackerel sushi. Delicious. Yuba tofu is really good. It has a sticky texture like sesame tofu, but the taste is refreshing. It's nice to be able to eat Shino Wakuhisa's mackerel sushi. Soba. Thin, almost 100% buckwheat. I don't know much about soba, but it was good to be able to eat it with coarse salt. Finally, a confectionery called "Shippo". Assortment of pine nuts, sesame seeds, white kidney beans, beans, and nuts. Even though there are 7 pieces, each one has a distinct flavor without being vague. Truly delicious. Maybe I should have ordered tempura too.

I had the seasonal set meal and lotus root tempura. Each dish was beautifully presented in lovely dishes, which made it a delight to both see and eat. The ingredients and seasoning were great and everything tasted delicious. I was thinking of ordering mackerel sushi as well, but the seasonal set meal already included it, so I didn't need to add it. The mackerel sushi was sprinkled with kelp, giving it a rich flavor. I think this is a great place to enjoy stylish and Kyoto-like meals.

On a typical Monday with clear skies, I walked from Shijo Omiya to Nijo Castle, Seimei Shrine, the former residence of Yamana Sozen, and Oribe-dera, taking about an hour. I arrived at a soba kaiseki restaurant operated by Wakuden near Daikakuji. The 11:30 reservation was fully booked. The cheapest course was chosen, but with additional options and drinks, the price more than tripled. Well, it's delicious, so it's worth it. (//∇//)

While on vacation, I visited the special viewing at Daikakuji in Kyoto and then had lunch at a restaurant called "Itsutsu" recommended by a friend. The first dish, "Steamed Rice with Daikon and Karasumi," was delicious and really hit the spot. Since I don't like mackerel sushi, I asked for it to be changed to herring. The soba noodles were elegantly cooked and had a wonderful aroma, and the soba soup was like a creamy potage soup, the best I've ever had. It was a luxurious time and I felt happy. #Kyoto #KyotoGourmet #Daikakuji #Itsutsu #Wakuden #WakudenItsutsu #soba #kyoto #wintertripinKyoto

My daughter and her husband, who had been visiting home since the end of the year, are returning to Tokyo. I decided to drive them to the city. There is a wonderful exhibition near the gallery that has been open since New Year's, close to the Kenkun Shrine. It is a famous exhibition of antique art and shops in Tokyo. My son-in-law knows the owner of that shop a little. I didn't buy anything, but there were many things I wanted. My son-in-law bought two plates. We were looking for a nearby shop to have lunch, and then we remembered a long time ago when we had a bento box of pottery from the Daitokuji Shinju-an at this shop. Since all three of us like soba, we decided to go here! I had various appetizers and soba dessert for 3200 yen. My daughter and her husband chose the herring soba, which cost an additional 1100 yen, making it a total of 4300 yen. We also added three pieces of shrimp and taro tempura for 1650 yen. I couldn't believe the price! How much did my son-in-law pay in total? We didn't drink alcohol at the soba shop. It was a feast early in the New Year. We bought some sweets as a thank you gift: lotus mochi with chestnut for 1200 yen, and two pieces of Nishiko for 600 yen each. I also bought one for myself. The Nishiko was smooth and had a nice texture.

I really liked it. I had a course lunch for about 6000 yen. Each dish used Kyoto-like ingredients and had detailed arrangements, making them very delicious. I especially liked the chestnut rice (?) in the second photo. I was surprised by the deliciousness of the plum juice I ordered, while my husband ordered grape juice. It's quite filling, so I think it's a good value for the money. I want to go again!

I stopped by after a long time. It is a famous restaurant known for its delicious soba noodles. On this day, I added mackerel sushi and tempura to my set meal. Both were delicious and satisfying. The soba noodles are a bit pricey, but it is still a top-class restaurant, so I recommend it. There is another popular soba restaurant nearby, but I prefer this one overwhelmingly.

Adding a note as a memo. It's been a while since my last visit. The warm counter here is perfect for the cold Kyoto weather. Starting with a dish of Asian pear and yuba, followed by chestnuts and rice. Then came a creative yet harmonious dish of pheasant dashi and turnips. The standout was the surprising miso-marinated bonito tempura. The tender flesh had a deep flavor. Next, the taro root paste with crab as an accent. As always, we finished with cold soba noodles, best enjoyed with salt and wasabi. Always amazed and impressed whenever I come here. Another perfect meal today. Thank you.

I wanted to eat soba for lunch, so I made a reservation and stopped by. There were two lunch courses available, one for ¥4000 and one for ¥6000, so I ordered the ¥6000 course. The soba restaurant, run by a long-established Japanese restaurant, had a high-level atmosphere and service. The first dish was fruit with yuba sauce, with the soft yuba complementing the flavors well. The second dish was fried chestnuts on sticky rice, with a strong Kyoto flavor. The third dish was a combination of duck breast, mackerel sushi, and sesame dressing, all elegant dishes, with the mackerel sushi being a highlight. The fourth dish was small oyster tempura, perfectly cooked and delicious, with a simple sauce that enhanced the flavor. The herring soba had large herring with just the right seasoning, and the depth of flavor as it soaked into the broth was the essence of herring soba. The steamed soba had a greenish hue and was delicious, with the rich soba broth being a nice touch. The dessert, a sweet treat with dried fruits, was also delicious. Every dish was tasty, and I would love to come back when I crave soba again.

After several years, I visited Wakuden "Go" in Kyoto. I used to visit Kyoto several times a year and always made sure to stop by this restaurant. This time, I came to Kyoto without a plan and suddenly remembered Wakuden "Go", so I called and luckily got a reservation. The soba was delicious as always, but what really stood out was the atmosphere of the restaurant. The sake selection and dishes were impressive every time. The chestnut tempura on risotto-like rice was a first for me and it was incredibly delicious. I'm not a fan of fried oysters, but I would definitely try them at Wakuden "Go" after hearing how good they are. The duck, which I always enjoy here, was also delicious this time. Overall, the food, soba, and sake at Wakuden "Go" were all beautifully presented and delicious. I will definitely visit again when I go to Kyoto. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Once again in Kyoto. I was able to make a reservation by calling early in the morning on the day of, so I went. I took a taxi from Kitaoji Station. During the autumn foliage season, it takes quite a while to get a taxi in front of Kyoto Station, but I was able to get one easily here. The first floor is for shopping and checkout, while the second floor is for dining. This time, I requested a course for 6000 yen, with a large serving of soba for an additional 500 yen, and spicy daikon radish soba for an extra 500 yen. First, I had a beer. The IPA from Wakuden is delicious. - Yuba and fruit salad with milk sauce, figs, shine muscat grapes, pears, served with sauce The sauce is made by simmering milk, giving it a cheese-like taste. The fruits are wonderfully delicious, and the sauce adds richness. - Steamed rice with chestnut skin and persimmon, a Kyoto-style dish - Duck roe, mackerel sushi, tofu skin with green beans and sesame dressing All of them are delicious. It's a high-end finish. I couldn't resist and had the Hayaseura sake. - Lotus root and oyster tempura with black vinegar sauce The vinegar is strong and adds a nice touch. - Almost 100% buckwheat soba, with only 4% binder added. Served with spicy daikon radish Soba is delicious. The taste is unmatched by regular restaurants. I want to eat more of it. - Nanaho, a special dish only available here, for those who have dined here This is delicious. It's a unique item that you can only buy here, adding to its appeal as a souvenir. The atmosphere, service, and food are all wonderful and make for a comfortable experience. Truly worthy of the name Wakuden.

Family lunch with elderly parents during a trip to Kyoto. The excellent service at Wakuden truly stood out, catering to our needs perfectly. The meal started with a variety of small dishes before the soba noodles, allowing us to enjoy different ingredients. We also tried a local craft beer, adding to the memorable experience.

This day was a weekend stay in Kyoto. In the evening, I was looking forward to a restaurant I had been invited to. But what about lunch? Originally, I was planning to take my friend to Hotoke-san, but my busy friend had to cancel due to work. We decided to meet up later in the evening. I had a special visit reserved for Jukoin at Daikakuji at 1 PM, so I headed towards Daikakuji. The organizer suggested that we go easy on lunch since the restaurant in the evening was going to serve a lot of food. So, I decided to visit Itsutsu, a soba and dish restaurant affiliated with Wakuden, near Daikakuji. I arrived at 12:30 PM without a reservation, but they were able to accommodate me on the second floor. I ordered the following:
- Oolong tea
- Handmade soba (cold)
- Mackerel sushi
- Corn tempura
They served a tofu dish with dashi sauce as a complimentary appetizer. The sauce was a bit salty. Then, I had two pieces of mackerel sushi, which were incredibly delicious. I wanted to order more because it was so tasty. The soba and tempura arrived next. The soba was recommended to be first tried with just salt to bring out the sweetness of the soba. The soba had a rich flavor. When I tried it with salt, the sweetness and aroma stood out. But when I tried it with the dipping sauce, the soba felt a bit rough and it was hard to slurp smoothly. It was a bit frustrating. The amount of soba was also small. The corn tempura was very sweet and didn't need any seasoning, it was delicious! I ended the meal with soba soup. One thing that bothered me was the service. They cleared the dishes a bit too quickly, almost as if they were rushing me to leave, even though I wasn't taking my time to eat. The interaction between the staff and customers is important, and that aspect was a bit disappointing.
