Located a 5-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto, Saori specializes in Japanese chestnut desserts. I visited after 3 years and was pleased to see that they now accept online reservations through Tabelog. Reservations can also be made over the phone (same-day reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis). I highly recommend making a reservation if you want to ensure you get to try their delicious desserts.
I ordered the Nishiki Mont Blanc "Sa" made with the highest quality Tamba chestnuts, using only Kyoto Tamba chestnuts, priced at ¥2860 (tax included). It comes with a choice of pairing drink, and I chose Uji Marukyu Koyamaen's "Cold-brewed Sencha" as my pairing drink. The Nishiki Mont Blanc features a delicate and rich cream made with chestnuts, sponge cake, and meringue, beautifully finished with gold powder and chestnut chips. The Mont Blanc is not overly sweet, allowing the natural sweetness and deliciousness of the chestnuts to shine through. The crispy meringue melts instantly in your mouth. The refreshing taste of the plum kelp tea and the pairing drink in between bites of the rich Mont Blanc was a delightful contrast.
Even after 3 years, the dessert was as delicious as I remembered. I will definitely be back again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I made a reservation for 4 people at a table seat from 16:00 on Friday. The restaurant was a lovely place renovated from an old folk house. We were seated on the second floor with a view of the Kamo River from the window side, and the open ceiling created a nice atmosphere. There was a note requesting not to have lunch before coming, so we opted for a slightly smaller size of the Mont Blanc dessert. The pairing drink was included in the price, so I chose a hot hojicha tea. They asked if we wanted to see the squeezing process, which takes place on the first floor, and when it was our turn, they called us over. It was fascinating to watch the machine squeeze the ingredients. The dessert was brought to our table in a large size, even though we ordered a small one, but it was more than enough. The chestnut paste on top was made from real chestnuts, and the inside had a combination of meringue, cream, and sponge cake. It was surprisingly light and delicious. They also served a snack of rice crackers with plum and seaweed tea as a palate cleanser, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a delightful experience with friendly staff and tasty food. Highly recommended.

I finally visited Saori-san, who I had been interested in for a while and made a reservation on Tabelog. The Sa is light inside, so it's lighter than it looks, and the tart was delicious, but it felt a bit heavy for me in my early old age. I chose Japanese black tea for my drink. I also received a cute plum tea, which made my mouth feel refreshed. Anyway, the two old people managed to finish the meal ⭕️ Thank you for the meal.

I visited this place while sightseeing and was surprised to see how crowded it was. I believe it would be difficult to visit on a holiday without a reservation or a ticket. Since I made a reservation, I was seated right away. People come to watch the process of squeezing chestnuts as if it were an amusement. It's great for families with children. When I took a bite of the Mont Blanc, I was first surprised by its lightness and richness. What surprised me the most was how light the meringue was. It's crispy, but as soon as you put it in your mouth, it melts away. Before I knew it, I had finished the seemingly large Mont Blanc in no time. The umeboshi kombu tea that comes separately from the drink goes really well with it. Thank you for the meal.

I made a reservation for Friday at 2:00 PM and visited the restaurant. I ordered a small-sized Mont Blanc and could also choose my tea. I was able to watch the freshly squeezed process as well. The freshly squeezed Mont Blanc was fluffy and creamy, with a rich chestnut flavor that spread throughout my mouth as soon as I took a bite. The meringue at the bottom was crispy. It was much more delicious than any Mont Blanc I've had before, with a strong chestnut flavor. I thought the portion size of the small size was just right.

I made a reservation for 2:00 pm on a weekday. It seemed like a good idea to make a reservation because even in the early afternoon, there was a line for those without reservations. We ordered at least one dish per person. The food was served promptly and the staff were friendly. The Mont Blanc dessert had a meringue base instead of sponge cake, making it light and easy to eat.

I had the impression that Mont Blanc at this kind of shop would be dry and crumbly, so I went with expectations because it was Saori. Personally, I still think that Mont Blanc sold at cake shops is more moist and delicious, even though Saori's looks good and has a strong chestnut flavor. However, Saori has a nice atmosphere and the price with a drink set wasn't too high, so if it's nearby, I might go occasionally. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

The view of the Kamo River from the restaurant was beautiful and the atmosphere was nice. It was a good decision to make a reservation and visit. The staff members, who seemed to have "please wait a moment" as their catchphrase like AI, were interesting as they pressed the button on the machine. I was guided to the second floor, which was a very atmospheric and nice space. I chose the Kinshi Mont Blanc "Sasha". I could clearly taste the gentle yet delicate chestnut flavor. The price was also reasonable!

It has become easier to make reservations online. The taste was great and the service was also good. They showed us squeezing the juice right in front of us. The portion size was generous, and it was nice to be able to refresh with plum kelp tea. I understand that the ingredients are costly, but it would be even better if the price could be a bit lower. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^

I thought it was a Mont Blanc shop and entered, expecting a cafe-like atmosphere, but I was surprised. The restaurant had a very adult-like atmosphere, almost as if a French course meal was about to be served. I tried the Mont Blanc "Rouge". It consisted of thick meringue, cream, sponge cake, chestnut paste, and plenty of chestnut threads on top. They used Tanba chestnuts, and the chestnut paste had a rich flavor of the natural ingredients. However, as I got towards the end, my mouth became dry, so it's essential to have some water on hand. I had the regular Mont Blanc, but they also offer a variety of menu options using seasonal fruits, which I think would provide a better balance when combined with the freshness of the fruits.

Second visit. It was better than the last time. The meringue was cooked perfectly and the sweetness was adjusted well. The Mont Blanc and drinks had more variety. It was exciting to watch them finish the desserts right in front of you! The staff was also very friendly.

I went to the chestnut specialty store Saori. It seems to be a popular shop, and there is a ticket machine inside the store where you can see how many groups are currently waiting. It feels nice to see the Kamogawa River from the window inside the store. The Mont Blanc was just right, not too sweet. I want to eat it again. #KyotoGourmet #KyotoSweets

Saori-san's famous chestnut Mont Blanc now has a melon version! Made with green Andes melon and red Quincy melon, this dessert features a rich and juicy melon flavor combined with sweet chestnut paste. The Mont Blanc is not the typical thin style, but a flat type that allows the chestnut flavor to shine through. I visited the second-floor seating area for the first time, enjoying a relaxing chestnut time while overlooking the Kamo River. In recent years, there have been more chestnut Mont Blanc options available, but Saori-san's version remains exceptional. In the past, there were long lines starting at 9 am for daily allotments, but it has become easier to visit now. This is a must-visit spot for delicious chestnut desserts!

The dessert is delicious and tasty. The chef is a professional. Please make sure my camera is ready to take pictures/videos of the dessert. Unfortunately, the staff, especially the reception staff, are not friendly. They kept talking, ignored my requests, and behaved in an unacceptable manner. I finished the dessert in about 40 minutes, but the staff quickly cleared the table, placed the bill, and reminded me 5-6 times to leave as soon as I finished eating, which made me feel rushed. The food is delicious, but the service is rude, so I will not consider coming back again. A completely bad experience.

It was my second visit. This time, I was determined to have a fruit-based parfait for sure! It happened to be cherry parfait, and it was rich and delicious, especially when combined with the chestnut Mont Blanc. The cherry and chestnut flavors were intense yet refreshing, and it paired perfectly with coffee! I wonder what I should try next time.

Saori specializes in chestnut desserts. I chose the Mont Blanc from Tanba (with gold leaf). The set comes with a drink, and you can choose an additional drink for an extra charge. It looks beautiful with meringue and chestnut cream topped with thread-like chestnut cream. It's light with a mild sweetness, you can eat as much as you want! ❤️

Mont Blanc is very delicious. The portions are generous, so those concerned about calories may want to avoid it. They also have champagne and other alcoholic beverages. It has more of a restaurant vibe than a traditional sweets shop, and it's quite stylish.

I stopped by around 1pm on a weekday and was able to get in after a wait of about 5 minutes. The interior of the restaurant has a luxurious and extraordinary atmosphere, with slightly pricey desserts. However, considering the luxury experience you get for the price, it doesn't seem expensive. The portion looks large, but the Japanese chestnut dessert has a truly elegant flavor and is light on the palate.

This time, I visited the store to get a White Day gift for my girlfriend while traveling. The Mont Blanc made right in front of us was delicious and beautiful, and my girlfriend was very satisfied. I would definitely want to come back when I visit Kyoto again.

The Mont Blanc dessert is larger than a clenched fist and has a strong chestnut flavor. It is really rich and delicious. You need to have an empty stomach to finish it. Even if you're hungry, it might be tough without the plum kelp tea they provide. It seems that those with reservations are seated on the second floor, so unfortunately, you can't see them making it.
