In the evening near Kyoto Station, I visited a hospital for regular check-ups and MRI scans with new medical equipment. The staff was welcoming and the new MRI machine provided a sense of comfort. Afterwards, I went to a restaurant called "Ogawa" where the head chef had trained. The restaurant was spacious with a large staff, including a standout female chef. I enjoyed some fresh sashimi and appetizers at the counter with a glass of beer. The atmosphere was lively, and the food was delicious. The young woman next to me was a university student preparing for an interview the next day. Despite the pressure, she opted for a non-alcoholic drink. Overall, the experience at the restaurant was delightful, and I would recommend it to others.

I went to eat in Kyoto with my friends. Everything was delicious! I had to order the wagyu beef sandwich and chicken wings that everyone was eating on Instagram. The soft wagyu beef sandwich was gone in no time, and I could eat as many chicken wings as I wanted. The turban shell was surprisingly big! The atmosphere was really nice and calming, but it's sad that they will be closing by the end of the year. I want to go eat there again before the year ends.

I was taken to a popular izakaya with a great reputation. Located in a hidden alley, the interior was like any other izakaya, but the food was exceptional. It was on par with top-notch restaurants, not your typical izakaya fare. The sashimi platter was amazing, and dishes like fried chicken wings, grilled oysters, and beef cutlet sandwich were all delicious. The contrast between the ordinary setting and extraordinary food was truly impressive.

I made a reservation by phone at 12 o'clock on the same day, but they were fully booked. They told me to call back if there were any openings, which would probably be around 7:30 p.m. I received a call at 7:30 p.m. and visited the restaurant on Sunday. When I arrived, there was a table available, but it quickly filled up and was almost always full. They served us the dishes in portions for two people. The food was delicious, and although I wanted to try more dishes, I was too full to continue. Even the crust of the bread was tasty! The pace of serving the dishes was just right, not too fast or too slow, which made it perfect for enjoying drinks. I had bottled beer, chuhai, shochu, and sake.

This is a cozy izakaya with a Showa era atmosphere. We had a sashimi platter, wagyu beef tataki, simmered octopus, and grilled managatsuo. The sashimi included sea urchin, conger eel, octopus, and tuna. The octopus was firm and had a nice texture, very delicious. The grilled dishes are cooked over charcoal and include a variety of fish and vegetables. The managatsuo we had was large and had a tender texture. Although prices are not listed on the menu, both the drinks and food are relatively affordable. The second floor has tatami seating where you can relax, and it seems suitable for parties and gatherings.

I made a reservation on a regular day and visited with my children! The fried chicken wings in particular were amazing, with the skin being crispy without being greasy at all. It was the best chicken wings I've ever had! Every dish that came out was not just typical izakaya quality, but more like a Japanese restaurant quality. We were satisfied in every aspect! My children also enjoyed the food and ate more than usual! Thank you for the delicious meal! We will definitely visit again!

On the second day of my casual trip to Kyoto, due to the typhoon, there were no places to visit, so I went on a drive within Kyoto Prefecture. I visited the familiar "Sakagura Terayama" @skd25.terayama, which unfortunately will be closing by the end of the year. Today, the head chef was off, which was disappointing. I had a Wagyu charcoal-grilled sandwich, Sakagura curry rice, eel with sauce, grilled Pacific saury, white shrimp tempura, snow crab with ginger vinegar, simmered princess tairagi clam, green onion nuta, and a Kura High. It's been a while since I had both a sandwich and curry in one meal. Despite the typhoon, it was nice to end the day with a visit to the restaurant.

I enjoyed a nice atmosphere that felt like a mix between an izakaya and a Japanese restaurant. Despite being in a hard-to-find location, the place was constantly filling up with customers, which was impressive. I tried various dishes but forgot to take photos because I got drunk. The fried gudgeon was delicious. The raw rockfish was also enjoyable, similar to Tataki. It was a great place for drinkers!

I finally visited Terayama-san as I had been wanting to. The dishes were very traditional and simple, yet delicious. The pickles were especially tasty, and the pork cutlet sandwich was impressive. I often see it on social media, and it truly lives up to its reputation as a local specialty. Also, the service from the staff was surprisingly good. It's a shame they will be closing at the end of the year, but I'm glad I was able to visit before then. I definitely want to go back at least one more time.

I visited this place before. It was my first stop, so the variety was a bit limited. However, when you order the katsu sandwich, you also get a side of bread, which was filling and left me satisfied. The exterior looks like a hidden gem, but inside it's spacious. I didn't feel intimidated by the quality of the food.

After a long time, I went on a casual trip to Kyoto and had dinner at the familiar spot, "Sakadokoro Terayama". They had a variety of charming dishes on the menu, such as: - Fatty tuna roll - Tuna and chive omelette - Shrimp and sea urchin - Conger eel - Fried chicken wings - Horse mackerel and herbs wrapped in seaweed - Grilled eel with sauce - Trout fry with Japanese pepper tartar sauce - Beef tongue - Braised spare ribs Everything was delicious as always. The tuna and chive omelette was so good that I had to get seconds and wanted some white rice with it! You just can't miss out on Kyoto nights ❤️

The pork cutlet sandwich is incredibly delicious. Of course, the cutlet itself is tasty, but the bread is also delicious! It may take a little time for the food to come out, so it's okay to order in the middle of the meal. The fried chicken is crispy, and the sashimi is fresh! With 2-3 drinks, it's around 6,000 yen per person, so it feels like a slightly upscale izakaya. Even on weekdays, it was full by around 6 pm. Reservations are essential.

I was not given a receipt. I couldn't tell what was on the bill and felt suspicious. I wondered if I was being overcharged. The food was delicious, but there was too much fat in the meat and the shirako was unusual and not to my liking. The torotaku that I ordered for the finale took about 40 minutes to arrive.

I was recommended a sake bar called Sakadokoro Terayama by the owner of a restaurant I trust in Tokyo. This place is known for being difficult to make reservations at, and it is run by someone from Shokudo Ogawa. I did some research on what I wanted to eat before visiting, but when I looked at the menu, everything looked so delicious that I was suddenly torn. I was really hungry and couldn't wait any longer! My head was spinning!! Just then, a bowl of ikura-don (salmon roe rice bowl) was served as an appetizer. It was a lifesaver... I enjoyed it while pouring beer and my stomach settled down. From then on, with a calm judgment, I started with the famous deep-fried chicken wings. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Not the skinny chicken wings you often see, but plump and thick, it was impressive! And the grilled Man'yoji chili peppers, which were in season, were also delicious. The restaurant is famous for its charcoal grilling, so the grilling was perfect. The Man'yoji chili peppers were sweet. So, after filling my stomach, as a small eater with a big appetite, I was about to give up... but I ordered the pork cutlet sandwich for the finale! The bread was toasted with a nice char, the meat was beef! The sauce was also delicious, it was a luxurious pork cutlet sandwich ☺️ If you come to Kyoto, you definitely want to go to Sakadokoro Terayama, an ideal izakaya. Just a 2-minute walk from Kyoto Kawaramachi Station. #Kyoto #KyotoGourmet #Gourmet #Izakaya #KyotoIzakaya #SakadokoroTerayama #KyotoDinner #KyotoSightseeing #KyotoStation #KyotoNaturalWine #KyotoStroll #WineBar #Wine #WineInstagram #KyotoDinnerDate #KyotoSoloDining

Located in Shijo Kawaramachi, there is a sake bar called Terayama. It was recommended by a famous restaurant called Ogawa. Reservations have been available for a month now. The entrance to the bar is down a narrow alley, which may be easy to miss. The menu consists of daily specials, such as potato salad with a rich carbonara-style flavor, delicious pickled vegetables with fragrant sansho pepper, seared scallops and garlic rolled in seaweed, natto with fried tofu and soy sauce, tuna and pickled radish hand rolls, and a sashimi platter featuring red clam, tuna, sea urchin, and sea bream. Although it is not cheap, it is a place worth revisiting for its delicious dishes that pair well with sake.

The restaurant seems to be run by someone who trained at the Ogawa cafeteria, which attracted me to make a reservation. Reservations are probably required. The menu includes basic dishes like potato salad, fried chicken, sashimi, as well as dishes made with seasonal ingredients. Everything is delicious. There are no prices listed on the menu, which can be nerve-wracking, but the total amount is not much different from a regular izakaya, so it's not too expensive.

Visited for the first time with a reservation at 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday in April 2023. "Sakagura Terayama" is a popular izakaya in Kyoto that has also been selected by the Michelin Bib Gourmand. Located southwest of the Shijo Kawaramachi intersection, the restaurant is tucked away in a narrow alley, where customers who have made reservations start gathering before the opening time of 5:00 p.m., creating a waiting line. As soon as the doors were unlocked at the scheduled time, I gave my name and entered. I took a seat at the counter seat I was guided to. Despite thinking it might be tough seasonally, I had a faint hope for the oyster spring rolls that I wanted to order, but as expected, they were not available. I glanced at today's menu and placed orders for: - Bottled beer Sapporo Red Star - Snow crab - Seared scallops with roasted seaweed - Chef's selection sashimi platter (4 types): 1. Tuna 2. White squid 3. This white 4. Sayori - Homemade lemon chu-hi - Fried chicken wings - Boiled young bamboo shoots - Fresh shirasu and garlic chives cold tofu - Firefly squid and yellow chives fried rice I ordered and enjoyed these dishes one by one! I must say, I ate quite a lot (^^) The freshness of the sashimi was excellent, and the quality of the other dishes was impeccable! The snow crab was just the right size and volume for one person, and needless to say, it was delicious♪ The seared scallops with roasted seaweed, with wasabi leaf pickles, was also great~ (^^) The fried chicken wings, one of the signature dishes, had a spicy salt and pepper seasoning, juicy and full of flavor! The boiled young bamboo shoots were outstanding♪ The flavor of the broth was perfect, and you could taste plenty of fresh young bamboo shoots, which was delicious! The fresh shirasu and garlic chives cold tofu had a perfect combination of ingredients and seasoning! The firefly squid and yellow chives fried rice for the finish was also excellent, with a nice texture and plenty of ingredients, delicious! (The firefly squid was generously mixed in the fried rice, making it a more luxurious dish than expected (^^)) Ordering was the right choice♪ It was really delicious! Thank you for the meal! This is a place I would like to visit regularly, changing with the seasons (^.^)

I finally arrived after getting lost in the alley. The sashimi platter was fresh and delicious ^_^ Each piece was delicious with the ingredients being well utilized ^_^ It would have been nice if the fried rice we ordered at the end had a little more creativity.

The dishes I had this time were homemade oil sardines, firefly squid with miso, rolled omelette, salt-grilled mackerel pike, and deep-fried chicken wings. Every time I go, everything is delicious, so my expectations grow each time. I'm already looking forward to what kind of menu I can enjoy next time I go.

"Terayama" in Kyoto. The owner trained at the dining room Ogawa. Always fully booked. Reservations are a must! The spring rolls with about 10 oysters are amazing! So much oyster in each bite! The famous Wagyu charcoal-grilled sandwich is also delicious! At the end, they say "Thank you for eating so much!"... Did I eat too much? Haha. Everything was really delicious! I'll visit again in spring. Next time, I want to try the sashimi platter and umaki! Grilled amberjack with salt, chicken wings, ankimo, Nara pickles, oyster spring rolls, Wagyu tataki, Wagyu charcoal-grilled sandwich, dried fish fried rice, blowfish tempura, red miso soup.
