On September 7, 2023 (Thursday), I received a dish of Fig Cocktail (rum-based). A renowned bar in Kyoto frequented by bar hoppers from all over Japan. Mr. Nishida is also the head bartender of the Champagne bar "cave de K" and the Whiskey bar "keller", and supervised the bar "K36" at The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu, which opened in 2020.

Today, I had a drinking party in Kyoto, so I went to a nearby bar. Since it was early, there were not many customers. I arrived at the counter around 8:30 pm on the weekend. The counter was almost full at this time, but there was still some space available at the table seats. I ordered a few cocktails that were not on the menu and some fried potatoes as a snack. It was a space where I could stay for a few hours, enjoying conversations with the staff.

Kyoto is a city with many bars♪ Today, I visited the long-established Bar K6. First, I told the bartender my preference for highballs, and he recommended a few options. Among them, I chose Johnny Walker 18 years. Top-notch bartenders really make a difference, don't they? During our conversation, the bartender subtly drew out my flavor preferences, and suggested making the highball at a slightly higher temperature than usual, without chilling the whiskey too much. This brought out a floral aroma and a gentle carbonation, adding depth to the drink. Since I was already here, I decided to try a cocktail as well. We talked about Royal warrants and decided on a whiskey-based cocktail with chilled espresso, blending bitterness and smokiness into a sophisticated drink perfect for a nightcap. It's a drink that suits a slightly dandy old man. I'd like to become someone who matches this drink(´ｰ｀) I had a great time on my way home. Thank you. I entered the restaurant around 10pm on Saturday. After I entered, seats quickly filled up. I ordered a few items a la carte and had 2-3 cocktails. It was my first time at this restaurant so I was nervous, but the staff was friendly and made it a very enjoyable time!

In March, a popular bar in Kyoto with a budget of 4000 yen. After Kiu-san's return, everyone was chatting and having a good time, coincidentally it was their anniversary and a regular customer casually ordered a bottle of Dom Perignon to celebrate. Truly classy! After the Dom Perignon, someone who had mentioned wanting to go to K6 for a while arranged for some delicious snacks to be served, and everyone was enjoying them. It's still tasty and there's more to eat, they said while happily munching away. This place is a bar for adults. 🍸✨

Bar K6 is an authentic bar located a short distance from Nijo Bridge in Kyoto's Kamogawa area. The second-floor interior features a classical wood design with spacious group tables and a polished counter. It is a well-known spot in the area, frequented by gentlemen staying at nearby luxury hotels like the Ritz-Carlton and Okura, who choose to visit this bar instead of their hotel bars. It is customary to order a frozen cocktail when visiting, so I requested a fruit-based frozen drink from the bartender without hesitation. What arrived was a cocktail made with natural tea liqueur called "RETURNER," using hand-picked tea leaves from Nuwara Eliya. The cocktail was visually appealing with passion fruit, and the taste was a refreshing blend of acidity, sweetness, bergamot aroma, and tea flavor. The pizza was also delicious and generous in portion. The bar has a loyal following, with some customers opting for a course-style meal paired with a la carte dishes. By the time we left, the bar was full, with some customers being turned away. I recommend taking a walk back while enjoying the cherry blossoms along the Takase River nearby. The sight of the cherry blossoms and the traditional Takase boat is truly beautiful.

It's been about 7 years since I last visited, but I came back again! The atmosphere of the restaurant hasn't changed, the service is still the same... I had a very nostalgic, happy, and enjoyable time. Thank you for the meal. I still have a photo from my last visit in my phone's album, and I think the person who served me this time is the same as before, but this time he was wearing a jacket over the white shirt and vest. I wanted to ask if it was him, but he seemed busy so I couldn't. It's a shame.

I think this bar in Kyoto city might have the most employees besides hotel bars. There are many bartenders as well. They have both authentic and casual counters, so you can enjoy your drink in your preferred style. When I was a student, I used to come here with my seniors, but today was my first visit with my girlfriend. I don't know if it's because I've grown up, but I can now calmly look around the entire bar compared to before. I realized that I was always taken to good places by my seniors. I am grateful for that. We each ordered two drinks. I ordered a refreshing carbonated cocktail with a gin base and grapefruit. Next, I ordered a dark rum that I could savor slowly. I forgot the brand, but a 20-year-old XO was served. Both drinks tasted better than I had imagined. It's always nice to have these encounters at a bar. Thank you for a wonderful evening. A new restaurant opened in Kyoto's Teramachi where we enjoyed delicious fish dishes along with drinks. Of course, we stayed at a hotel as well. There were three women and a man. The man left quickly after eating and went home, which was just a minute's walk away. Later we found out he went to a bar called Kyo-no. The three women also ended up at the bar. During the meal, we started with beer and then had sake, wine, and highballs. The one youngest woman drank a lot of alcohol. After eating, we took a short walk to a bar by the Kamogawa river. It was my first time there. The young beautiful women were regulars, so the staff came to greet us. The bar was almost full, even though it was late. The three of them had one drink of gin each and chatted away. Sorry for staying so long with just one drink. I guess I'm the most relaxed one. Before I knew it, it was past midnight and drizzling as I walked back to the hotel alone. It was a bit risky to be out late at night. Despite drinking, I was surprisingly energetic the next day and headed to the next destination. I really like bars.

A few years ago, I visited a bar in Kyoto known for its rocking chairs. I had imagined it to be a small, cozy place, but it was actually quite spacious, bright, and casual inside. I tried a recommended cocktail made with seasonal fruits, using muscat grapes. It was delicious, with chunks of fruit including the skin. Perhaps because of the distance from the bartender, it was a bit hard to fully grasp the charm of the place.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Kyoto City Hall, this shop was visited without a reservation before 8 pm on a weekday. It is on the second floor, with two entrances to choose from. The interior is surprisingly spacious and bright, suitable for solo diners, female friends, or groups. The menu offers a variety of mojitos and gin & tonics, which are highly rated for their delicious taste. Despite being full, only drinks were ordered. The drinks, whether mojitos or gin & tonics, were carefully crafted and easy to drink. Unfortunately, there was not enough time to relax, so a leisurely visit is planned for next time.

In Kyoto in October 2022, we used the Kyoto discount to stay in Kyoto at a great price. We decided to visit a bar near our hotel, even though it was already past 10 pm. My husband was feeling hungry, so we ended up at this highly recommended bar. We called ahead before visiting K6, located right next to Kyoto City Hall. We were seated at the counter and I ordered a Peach Mojito with lots of ripe peaches in it. My husband tried the Sudachi Gin and Tonic, which he absolutely loved. The seasonal Aioli with squid and mushrooms was incredibly delicious. My husband, still hungry, was surprised by the Pistachio Short Pasta, which was amazingly tasty with its rich nutty flavor. I also tried the Salty Dog with Japanese pear, which was incredibly delicious with a strong fruit flavor. The fruit-based cocktails were excellent, and the food was delicious too. We'll definitely come back again.

On this day, I visited another place, saying "next!" as I arrived here. It was BAR K6. It's on the second floor, but on the first floor, there is a members-only shop with a vault door and a stylish wine bar affiliated with it. I was planning to check out the other places, but I was too full to go. When I entered the shop, it split into right and left, and I asked for recommendations but forgot. Anyway, I was guided to an available seat. I sat by the window on the left side. I had a Peach Frozen cocktail and a Gin & Tonic with Kyoto Gin. This place seems to be quite popular. It was full, so I guess it's a popular spot. Thank you for the meal!

Went to Tonkatsu Shimizu and Gyuu Oota, got really full, then came to this bar. This might be the first time I've been to such an authentic bar in Kyoto. I ordered the Rum Soda and NSD (Nashi Salty Dog), which were made right in front of me by shaking the shaker. Why do cocktails made this way taste so delicious? I thought it was nice to visit this kind of place once in a while!

Together with the young lady, we went to the second place recommended by Hafu-san. I usually like sake, but I also enjoy drinking at bars. I have no loyalty when it comes to alcohol (laughs). I didn't drink too much because there's a third place to go, but I had a Laphroaig on the rocks. The bright atmosphere of the bar matched my mood that day. I tried a sip of the young lady's Martini. Delicious. I don't usually drink cocktails, but good cocktails from a proper place are indeed tasty. I'll start with a Martini next time I come. Lastly, I learned about and ordered a Bloody Caesar. Unlike a Bloody Mary which uses vodka and tomato juice, this one uses Clamato tomato juice. It's tomato juice with clam broth. It was delicious! It was a very pleasant time. Thank you. Itadakimasu.

It was the worst restaurant. I have been to bars in various countries around the world, but this had the worst service I have ever experienced. Well, I guess this is Kyoto - that's what I felt as a Kyoto local. It's not about the quality of the drinks. I understand that I was looked down upon because I was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants, but the way they discriminated against customers was too much. Looking at other reviews and ratings, it seems like they treat you better if you dress properly. It was truly a rude establishment. This was the worst restaurant review I have ever posted on Tabelog.
