My mind is filled with thoughts of pastry chefs, pastry chefs, pastry chefs...! I want to eat cakes made by a pastry chef, not from any other store!!! With that in mind, I decided to go on a weekday afternoon drive. My only purpose was to visit the pastry chef's shop. I called ahead to confirm the stock levels before leaving, as the selection tends to decrease on weekends and holidays. At around 3 PM on a weekday, they had about 15 varieties available. They offered to hold items for me, but I prefer to see them in person before deciding. When I arrived just before 4 PM, there was quite a selection available. I quickly decided on the rich matcha truffle cake for ¥550, but I struggled with choosing one more. Ultimately, I went with the delicious cheese tart for ¥550. The chocolate with cheese caught my eye. I also picked up a chestnut pudding for autumn at ¥480 and some Christmas baked goods. These cakes may seem a bit pricey for their size, but they are rich and satisfying. I wonder if some people might find them too sweet depending on their preferences or the specific item? When I got home, I started with the matcha cake, which I think is currently my favorite in the matcha cake category. The chestnut pudding was incredibly smooth with a hint of chestnut texture, and the caramel part at the bottom was actually Mont Blanc paste with a touch of liqueur. It was unbelievably delicious! I was completely absorbed in the flavors of these two items. I didn't try the cheese tart as I saved it as a gift, so I'll skip my thoughts on that. I'm sure it's delicious too! The cheese chocolate had a white base with a subtle cheese flavor. Pastry chef's matcha cakes are truly amazing, and their chestnut products are outstanding. I love them so much.

Royal fruit shortcake, chocolatier, and lemon cake. The former consists of three layers of sponge cake and luxurious fruits, while the latter is known for its moist texture without the use of wheat flour. Despite its classical gateau appearance, the patissier was flexible and even took on customer service duties when needed, making it a great and accommodating shop despite its name.

A few years ago, when I visited Nishioin, my partner suggested, "Do we really need to buy cakes from the pastry chef?" But due to the intense heat, we had to give up! Oh, what a fool I am. If you come to Kyoto's Nishioin, you must visit "Ka-shokunin" without fail. The chef at "Ka-shokunin" named the shop with the intention of always having the mindset of a craftsman, maintaining a spirit of improvement, and approaching pastry making with sincerity and passion. He left me with this wonderful quote: "C'est un talent de savoir choisir le délicieux" - It is a talent to know how to choose the delicious. I chose a set of my favorite baked goods from "Ka-shokunin" which included Lemon Cake x2, Nouvelle Financier, Nouvelle Financier Mango, and Honey Caramel Cookies. The Financier is made with brown sugar made from 100% sugarcane and almonds roasted from Spanish Marcona seeds. It exudes a luxurious aroma of fermented butter both inside and out. The summer limited edition Mango freeze-dried is refreshing, and the plain one is accentuated with the world's most mineral-rich salt "Nuchimasu" and caramel chips on the surface. The Lemon Cake, with its cute round shape, is recommended to be enjoyed chilled. I chilled it in the refrigerator before eating. It had a moist texture, a tangy lemon flavor, and a strong lemon peel taste in the dough. The lemon icing was also crunchy. It had a rich taste yet a refreshing aftertaste. The deliciousness did justice to the proud name of "Ka-shokunin." I would like to take home some Petit Gateau when the weather cools down a bit. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

A Western confectionery shop located south of Saiin Station. There is also a parking lot available. It seems to be a popular old-fashioned Western confectionery shop, as customers keep coming in one after another. Overall, the prices are not cheap. The "Choux Bonbon" costs 350 yen, which is basically a cream puff. The outer pastry is crispy. The custard cream inside is relatively light in richness, but the sweetness is a bit strong. It doesn't contain vanilla beans. To be honest, for this price, it felt a bit expensive. The "Cut Roll" costs 260 yen and is a frozen product that we thawed for about an hour. The sweetness is on the strong side. PayPay is accepted. Honestly, it wasn't that great.

We had a chestnut Mont Blanc, a fruit shortcake, and a cheese tart for two people. The cakes were a bit small, but especially the chestnut Mont Blanc was delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. If they had a bit more volume, there would be nothing to complain about.

I was able to make a reservation for Kiteretsu Curry and when I searched for a sweets shop nearby, I was drawn to a review saying "an unprecedentedly rich matcha cake". Later, I found a shop called "Kashi Shokunin" just before Kiteretsu Curry. The rich matcha truffle was indeed the best I've ever had! With such delicious sweets like Mont Blanc, Creme Brulee, rich Fondant Chocolat, and 530 Castella, there's no way they wouldn't be delicious! Of course, I will come back to try other sweets too! Although I mainly came for the matcha cake, I couldn't help but chuckle at the lady serving it on a green plate (laughs). Is she a chameleon or what... #KashiShokunin #NishikuinSweets #KyotoSweets #NishikuinGourmet #KyotoGourmet #RichMatcha #RichMatchaTruffle

Matcha truffles, 2 pieces for 600 yen. I had the image of a local cake shop, but these truffles became popular and the price went up a lot. However, they are really delicious! For matcha lovers, the rich matcha truffles with plenty of matcha powder sprinkled on top are irresistible. Since the shop is not close to my home, I would like to try ordering cakes online as well!

Tanba chestnut Mont Blanc 600 yen
Chocolate cake 550 yen
Caramel cake 550 yen
2 chocolate baked goods, each 380 yen
On the way back from eating Murasaki-san, I found this place by going straight down Nishioji Street. According to reviews, it's a popular spot among locals. There are 3 parking spaces across the street from the shop, which is convenient in Kyoto where parking can be difficult to find. I bought Mont Blanc and chocolate cake for my wife. The Mont Blanc was absolutely delicious! Not too sweet, with the perfect sweetness of chestnuts. The chocolate cake was rich and indulgent with layers of sponge, cream, and chocolate. The texture was moist, rich, and crunchy all the way through. The baked goods and caramel cake will be a treat for dessert tonight. Thank you for the delicious treats!

Renowned pastry chef adult cake. It's been a while since I've had pastries. They are small but rich, so it would be a waste to eat them quickly. Three new items: - Chestnut tart. Full of chestnuts. Sticky texture. Rich. - Pistachio cake. Strong pistachio flavor. Super rich. - Delicious cheese tart. Also full of cheese. Cheese chocolate is the best. Extremely rich. The size and price balance may be a bit intimidating, but the difference between looking and eating is huge! The richness even makes you feel impressed.

The pastry chef is the best craftsman, every cake was delicious. I bought the Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc which was sold out last time. I had a French Mont Blanc the other day. I am a fan of Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc. The color is different, but the flavor is different. It is all chestnut, and I was impressed from the first bite. The usual pure Swiss roll has a stable deliciousness, fluffy with cream that is not too sweet, and has a hint of liquor for an adult taste. The star of today was definitely the Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc.

I revisited the bakery after ordering a whole cake last time and being impressed by the delicious cream and sponge. This time, I purchased various types of cakes! The recommended Tanba chestnut Mont Blanc, cheesecake, and Shine Muscat tart were exquisite (^ ^). There were many other types available, including baked goods, and the round matcha baked goods were also very delicious! In the store, there were over 30 whole cakes for today's shipment, so it's clear that many people use this store! There were anime characters drawn on the cakes, and there were various types such as two-tiered, three-tiered, and tart types, making it enjoyable just to look at them! I would like to use this store again in the future (^^).

Located about a 10-minute walk from Saiin Station, this cake shop is always bustling with customers despite being in a residential area. I happened to pass by and decided to make a purchase. It was still in the morning, so there were plenty of cakes on display. Based on recommendations from other reviewers, I bought the following three items this time:
1. Custard Premium (270 yen) - A masterpiece made with high-quality milk, eggs, and cream. It has a firm texture, and the caramel has a gentle sweetness with a hint of maple flavor.
2. Supreme Smooth Pudding (450 yen) - Rich and creamy with plenty of whipped cream. It has a smooth and creamy melt-in-your-mouth texture.
3. Sachertorte (400 yen) - An arrangement of Vienna's famous Sachertorte chocolate cake. The chocolate flavor is very rich! Despite its small size, it offers a satisfying experience.
In addition to fresh cakes, they also have a wide variety of baked goods, making it convenient for purchasing souvenirs. Thank you for the delicious meal! ★

Patisserie Kashi Shokunin, located a 6-8 minute walk from Saiin Station, is a popular pastry shop known for its delicious cakes. The small, appetizing cakes lined up in the showcase have gained high praise, especially from local residents. They offer a variety of new cakes, showcasing their constant efforts in cake development. I ordered the popular Tart Chocolat this time. The rich chocolate sweetness of chocolate custard and milk chocolate cream, with a refreshing hint of orange, combined well with the crispy tart crust to create a delightful taste. With many other tempting cakes on display, especially those featuring fruits, I highly recommend visiting this shop when looking for a pastry shop around Saiin. Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by this place on my way back after picking up takeout from Ramen Shop Tasan. They had a variety of cakes, baked goods, and cookies! I got the Matcha and Azuki cake for 480 yen (with 2 hours of ice packs) to enjoy Kyoto at home. I also got Matcha financiers for 200 yen and Chocolate and Nut cookies for 120 yen as gifts. I tried the Matcha cake and it was delicious! It was surprisingly tasty. The cake itself is on the smaller side, about 2/3 of a regular size, but it was packed with flavor. It had layers of Matcha mixed in on top of a crunchy cookie base. It was really good! Thank you for the meal!

Established in 1983, this patisserie in Saiin is beloved for its simple and rustic-looking cakes. Their Rare Cheesecake (¥480) is a soft and smooth cheesecake with a refreshing taste. At the bottom, there is a layer of fig sauce and crackers, adding a nice contrast of acidity and crunchiness. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I went there. First, the cashier lady is cute. So, I got a slice of roll cake and a pudding. The pudding is not just smooth, but also jiggly. It jiggles as you slurp it up. The roll cake is delicious! You can really taste the flavors of the ingredients. The cream cheese one is refreshing and tasty too.

I chose this shop for my birthday cake, prioritizing quality over quantity. Both the fruit cake and fruit tart cake cost 480 yen each. They are small cakes, not very filling for men, almost fitting in the palm of your hand. However, the taste is elegant and very delicious. The tart cake has a custard that is not too sweet, with no overpowering flavors, but it brings the whole taste together. The sweet and substantial tart crust complements it very well. There is also a parking lot, which was convenient.

I visited a popular cake shop in Kyoto for the first time! The matcha truffle cake had a good balance of sweetness and bitterness. There were many cakes lined up in the shop, and I chose the matcha truffle cake. The bitterness of matcha and the sweetness of the cake worked well together! It was delicious (^^)

Before 8:00 p.m. in June 2021, it was quite dark around here. There was no line to enter, and no sign of people, but since there was a parking lot, I thought customers might show up suddenly. Even though it was close to closing time, there were quite a few staff members. There were only about 6 types of cakes left, and they were selling out quickly despite being small in size and not cheap. The cakes were delicious, but maybe a bit on the elegant side.
- Lemon Cake 300 yen ★3.4
