Continuing the Tokyo trip. Tim Ho Wan, a dim sum restaurant that opened a few years ago and still has long lines. I had been curious about this place when I visited Hibiya's Midtown two years ago, but it was so popular that I gave up. I thought it might have calmed down by now, but I was surprised to hear that there is still a two-hour wait. Is this Disney?! I met up with some friends who live in Tokyo on a rainy day. It was within walking distance from my hotel in Shinbashi. Despite the rain, I decided to walk because taking a train might be confusing with the exits and all. Surprisingly, it was quite close! The rain was pouring down, and even with an umbrella, my feet were soaked (but it's okay because the hotel has a washing machine). Normally, people line up along this pole for the long queue. But luckily, on a rainy weekday night, I was able to enter without waiting in line. Lucky me! The restaurant was quite crowded, but we were seated quickly. The menu seemed a bit limited. I tried the Baked BBQ Pork Buns for 680 yen, Pork and Shrimp Shumai for 680 yen, and Rice Rolls for 780 yen. The food was delicious, and the staff, mostly foreigners, added to the lively atmosphere. I also tried the Steamed Shrimp Dumplings for 780 yen, and they were a must-try. The staff poured sauce over the Rice Rolls right in front of us, and they were delicious. The Steamed Spare Rib Rice for 780 yen was visually appealing and tasty. Overall, everything was delicious, and the foreign staff added to the Hong Kong atmosphere. I would love to go back, but I'm not a fan of waiting in line. So, I highly recommend going on a rainy weekday. You can also use the PayPay app for payment.

The unexpectedly competitive dim sum area around Hibiya. The line here has decreased quite a bit. However, it is still popular for lunch. When I went around 12 o'clock on Wednesday, there were about 3 groups waiting in front of me. But since it's a big restaurant, I was seated inside in about 5 minutes. Inside, I was seated in about 2 minutes. Even though it's dim sum, the portion size is quite large, so if you go alone, you can't eat everything. Dim sum is definitely something to enjoy with multiple people. It's nice to be able to easily enjoy the authentic atmosphere. Thank you for the meal~.

I visited this place after hearing about cheap and delicious dim sum that is made by authentic chefs! Although the variety is limited, they serve everything fresh and hot. The first recommendation is the char siu wrapped in a melon bread-like dough. It's crispy and hot, with sweet char siu sauce inside, absolutely delicious. The lettuce is a simple palate cleanser, light and easy to eat as much as you want. The sticky rice is surprising with chicken, beef, sausage, and other ingredients inside. Be careful with the hot eggplant and shrimp dumplings. I would love to go back and try more dishes!

I visited the restaurant for the first time on the first Saturday of Silver Week. There was already a long line in front of the restaurant when we arrived at 11:30. We had to wait for about 30 minutes before we were lucky enough to be seated in one of the two booth seats inside the restaurant. We ordered a variety of dishes, but the most delicious one was the beef and egg rice bowl for 980 yen. The other dishes were tasty but not to my liking. Overall, the flavors were strong.

There is always a line of 10-30 people outside the Hibiya Shante Annex, but I decided to go in immediately on a rainy day at 7:00 pm on a weekday. It is a Michelin 1-star restaurant from Hong Kong, the first of its kind in Japan. Everything was delicious, but the char siu fried rice and lotus leaf sticky rice were exceptionally good. I had a drink for 4,500 yen. I noticed that the turnover rate is fast, so I would be willing to wait in line to eat here again next time.

I had never been able to get in because there was always a long line, but when I passed by on a weekday off, I was able to get in smoothly. I heard it has one Michelin star. You can see Hibiya Midtown from the large window. I had a hard time choosing from the menu. I tried ordering daikon mochi and black vinegar wonton. For dim sum, you usually order spring rolls, shumai, and steamed dumplings, right? But I ordered something different. Maybe that's why I had to wait quite a bit. The good thing is that hot tea is always available in a teapot. By the time I finished my second cup, the daikon mochi was brought out. It was a new texture. I'm glad I ordered it. I searched for the ingredients and found out it has a taste that I might get hooked on. Next, the black vinegar wonton arrived. It was bouncy and had a refined taste. Enjoying dim sum with an exotic taste once in a while is nice!

Nicknamed as the "world's cheapest Michelin star restaurant," I visited Tim Ho Wan for the first time on a weekend. It is known for having long lines, with an hour wait for lunch being common. However, on weekdays, there was no line and I was able to be seated right away. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is similar to a university cafeteria, bustling with noise. Most of the customers seemed to be foreigners, as the staff spoke limited Japanese and had a foreign vibe. Orders are taken by filling out a paper slip, but it can be confusing as the portions are not clear, so it's best to refer to the menu with photos. The staff didn't provide much explanation or guidance, so I ended up ordering a seasonal chef's choice dim sum without knowing what it was, and it turned out to be a sweet pumpkin dessert dim sum with sugar sprinkled on top, which was a mistake. The service was quick, and the food was decent, although the prices were relatively high compared to the casual atmosphere. The bill can add up quickly, with small dim sum dishes costing around 780 yen each, so ordering multiple dishes can easily exceed 3,000 yen. However, considering that the restaurant was founded by a dim sum chef from the Michelin-starred Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, it may be worth it to experience Michelin-starred flavors at a reasonable price.

In September 2023, I revisited Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/xiaoshan7910/?hl=ja, and kindly ask for your continued support <(_ _)> I revisited after 5 years and 5 months. This is Tim Ho Wan, a Michelin-starred dim sum specialty restaurant in the "food capital," Hong Kong. Chef Mak Kwai Pui, who worked at Lung King Heen, a Cantonese restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong that has won three Michelin stars for four consecutive years, opened Tim Ho Wan with partner Chef Leung Fai Keung in 2009. They aimed to provide authentic flavors in a casual and affordable setting, earning a Michelin star in 2010. The handmade dim sum, including steamed dishes, fried dishes, rice noodle rolls, congee, sticky rice, vegetables, and desserts, are made with original recipes. Enjoy top-quality flavors in a casual setting. I visited on the grand opening day when they first opened in Japan, and I waited in line for 3 and a half hours. Since then, I have passed by the restaurant many times, always seeing a line. This day, the spacious restaurant was bustling, but we were seated at a 2-person table without waiting. We enjoyed tea, filled out the order sheet, and ordered the following dishes: 1. Warm Lettuce, ¥680: A simple dish of crisp lettuce with special soy sauce for a refreshing salad experience. 2. Baked BBQ Pork Buns, ¥780: A signature dish loved by fans worldwide, featuring sweet BBQ pork filling in a crispy pastry. 3. Steamed Rice Rolls with Shrimp and Chinese Chives, ¥880: Smooth and silky rice noodle rolls with a delightful texture of plump shrimp. 4. Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, ¥580: Healthy dumplings filled with a variety of vegetables, recommended for vegetarians. 5. Steamed Spare Rib Rice, ¥980: A hearty dish with special spare ribs and jasmine rice steamed together, bursting with flavor. The total bill, including a 10% service charge, was ¥4,290. The dishes were served quickly, so it's advisable to observe before filling out the order sheet.

I had always wanted to go there but gave up because the line was so long. However, when I happened to be in Hibiya just 30 minutes before closing time, I decided to take a peek and found that there were only 2 groups ahead of me! I waited for about 10 minutes and got in. A few more groups came in afterwards, so if you don't like waiting in line, aiming for just before closing time might be a good idea. Everything was delicious and I was very satisfied. I didn't take any photos, but the number one dish was the shrimp dumplings. They were so juicy and tasty when I took a bite!

The restaurant is usually crowded with lines outside, but when I went there by chance, there was no line at all and I quickly entered. I waited a few minutes inside, but they prepared a seat for me right away. It's a casual dim sum restaurant run by a renowned chef. You order by writing on paper on the table. Everything was incredibly delicious that I forgot to take pictures. The steamed rice cake wrapped in real leaves was irresistibly tasty. I want to order everything on the menu. The most delicious dish was the beef meatballs in Chinpi sauce. It was so good that I forgot to take a picture. We ordered about 8 dishes for two people and were completely satisfied. It's truly authentic flavors. I like that they don't hold back on the flavors for Japanese people.

I thought it was a shop in Taiwan with a long line of women, but when I came, it turned out to be a shop in Hong Kong. I was able to get in without waiting in line this day, but by 11:15, most of the seats were already taken. First, I looked around the menu, but there were no noodle dishes, so after consulting with the staff, I ordered minced beef with rice, fried spring rolls with mushrooms and bamboo shoots, shrimp and chive dumplings, lotus leaf-wrapped sticky rice, and Hong Kong-style braised chicken feet with abalone sauce. For drinks, I had one pint of Guinness draft beer and two bottles of Tsingtao beer.

I visited around 12 o'clock on Sunday, but there was already a line. I waited for about 20 minutes. Before entering the restaurant, I was given a menu and an order sheet. You can also order additional items inside the restaurant. With about 5 dishes, two adults were satisfied. Ordering dishes with rice will increase the feeling of fullness.

I had a light dinner after 4 years of absence. It was still crowded on Saturday, with a line of about 30 people. I waited for about 40 minutes before getting a table. I ordered a beer, warm lettuce, steamed vegetable dumplings, steamed shrimp dumplings, and salted pork congee. The dumplings were flavorful, especially the shrimp dumplings which were plump and delicious even when dipped in soy sauce. The congee paired well with the century egg and was tasty.

【Arrival Time】11:40【Entry Time】11:50【Crowded Situation】About a 5-group wait【Impression】This shop always has long lines, but by chance, the line was short so I decided to give it a try. ① Baked Char Siu Pao: Inside a small melon bread, there is char siu filling. The sweet melon bread with a buttery aroma and the savory char siu match perfectly, making it very delicious. ② Fried Spring Rolls with Mushrooms and Bamboo Shoots: Inside the crispy thin skin, there is a filling packed with mushrooms and bamboo shoots. This was also of high quality and delicious. The taste was definitely worth the long lines.

Had a great time at Ginza Onsen Lettuce with shrimp dumplings and other delicious dishes. It's been a while since I visited the city center, and I really enjoyed the Hong Kong dim sum. Everything was tasty, but the steamed rice with minced beef and egg was the best. It would be nice if the alcohol was a bit cheaper, but oh well... it's dim sum after all, so it can't be helped.

The restaurant is as popular as ever, with a long line of people waiting. It seems that when going in a group, everyone must be present before being seated. Although I have been getting takeout recently, I visited the restaurant after a long time and the atmosphere was lively as always. The ordering method, where you write down your order number on a slip of paper and hand it to the staff, remains the same. The steamed dumplings are consistently delicious. I especially love the rice noodle rolls here and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that I come to this restaurant just to eat them. Eating the soft rice noodle rolls with plenty of sweet sauce makes me happy. The steamed tofu skin rolls with oyster sauce also have a great texture and a sweet and salty flavor that I enjoy. They are served piping hot, so be careful if you have a sensitive tongue. I forgot to take photos on some of my visits, which is a shame! After multiple visits, I start to feel the good value for money, while also hoping for some new items on the menu.

I finally visited a dim sum specialty shop in Hong Kong that I had been curious about. It was lunchtime and the restaurant was packed. Luckily, I just managed to get a table, but usually there is always a wait. I tried the steamed lettuce, shrimp dumplings, pork and shrimp siu mai, beef balls with tangerine peel, baked barbecue pork buns, radish cakes, fried spring rolls with mushrooms and bamboo shoots, and shrimp and chive dumplings. Everything was delicious and highly recommended. I was already full, but I couldn't resist trying the dessert. I ended my meal with deep-fried milk and coconut milk tapioca. I left the restaurant feeling very satisfied, only to find a long line outside. It's worth the wait. I will definitely come back again!

I visited the restaurant on a regular Friday around 5:40 pm. There were about 2 groups waiting at that time, but by 6 pm, there was a long line. It was a Friday night, so many customers stayed for a long time, causing the line to move very slowly. It's best to go early to avoid the crowd. I couldn't visit this restaurant when I traveled to Hong Kong a few years ago. We ordered about 8 dishes for 3 people, along with a drink each, and it cost around 3000 yen per person. The prices and taste are well-balanced at this restaurant. All the dishes were delicious, especially the most famous Baked BBQ Pork Buns which had a perfect sweet and salty flavor. The seasonal vegetable dish with water spinach was also very tasty. The best dish was the shrimp steamed dumplings, which I forgot to take a picture of. The shrimp was juicy and delicious. (I recommend the shrimp steamed dumplings over the shrimp and yellow chive dumplings!) Despite the long line outside, it's not a place to linger, but we were able to enjoy a leisurely meal for about an hour and a half. Thank you for the meal!

A popular dim sum restaurant from Hong Kong has opened its first branch in Japan, causing long lines every day at Hibiya. The turnover of customers is fast, so waiting in line wasn't too stressful. You order by writing numbers with a pencil, similar to a conveyor belt sushi system. There was a photo frame on the table displaying the weekly menu, which this week featured stuffed bell peppers. I accidentally ordered cold oolong tea, but once seated, warm pu-erh tea was provided in a pot, so I didn't really need the oolong tea. - Steamed vegetable dumplings (7 kinds) 580 yen - Beef balls with tangerine peel 780 yen - Tofu skin rolls with oyster sauce 780 yen - Iced oolong tea 380 yen Total: 2,772 yen The beef balls with tangerine peel were delicious, with the tofu skin underneath soaking up the flavors, creating a harmonious blend of textures and exotic aromas. The tofu skin rolls with oyster sauce were also a hit. The steamed vegetable dumplings offered a gentle and enjoyable mix of various vegetable flavors. Note: - It might be more authentic to enjoy the complimentary pu-erh tea provided on the table rather than ordering a cold drink, especially for a dim sum experience. - I used a small plate as a saucer for the pu-erh tea, but was told to use it for food instead. - I showed my movie ticket stub from TOHO Cinemas, hoping for a discount, but it seems they do not have any partnership. Overall, I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the world's cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant, Tim Ho Wan, in front of Hibiya Midtown at 4pm on a weekday! Luckily, I didn't have to wait in line to get in! The restaurant was almost full, with customers coming in continuously. There is hot oolong tea available for self-service on the tables, so you can drink it without hesitation (10% service charge). Prices range from desserts in the 300 yen range to dim sum in the 600-900 yen range. - Spring rolls: Hot and crispy, delicious! Well-seasoned with a hint of star anise fragrance. - Shrimp and chive dumplings: Thin and chewy skin! Plenty of chives and tender shrimp, delicious even without any additional sauce. - Steamed chicken sticky rice: Just the right amount for two to share! It arrived quickly and the chicken was moist and flavorful. Other fillings include char siu, beans, sausages, and dried shiitake mushrooms. The sausage may not be to everyone's liking as it is sweet and lacks texture. - Beef dumplings in a steamed bun (Chung Fan): The sauce is poured at your table. Surprisingly light and not too salty! The skin is thin and chewy. - Osmanthus and wolfberry jelly: A very cold jelly, perfect for summer. The fragrance of osmanthus is delicate and delicious! Quite sweet, so a little goes a long way. I would love to have this jelly again! It would be nice to have a few more options like soup dumplings or sesame balls, but it's just right for a light meal! - Alcohol is on the pricier side. I'll visit again when there's no line! Thank you for the meal!

We visited the restaurant around 6:00 pm on Tuesday with two people. We had always wanted to try this restaurant as we would often see long lines outside when we passed by on our way to the movies. Luckily, we were seated right away without having to wait in line. There were quite a few Chinese customers, which made us excited for authentic flavors. It was our first time at a dim sum restaurant, so we observed the menu and what other customers were ordering before making our selections. Among the dishes we ordered, the vegetable steamed dumplings were particularly delicious. I enjoy cooking Chinese food as a hobby, but the taste of these dumplings was so good that I couldn't figure out what seasonings were used. The sticky rice dumplings contained various types of meat, each with its own unique seasoning, and they were also very tasty. However, I found the beef minced meat spring rolls wrapped in rice paper to be too sticky for my liking. Overall, we left the restaurant feeling quite full. A person who seemed to be the manager came to ask us about our meal, and we had a nice chat with him. This is a great place to visit with a group of 3 or 4 people so you can order a variety of dishes and enjoy different flavors. As we left, we noticed that the line outside had gotten even longer. The food was truly delicious. Thank you for the meal.
