In everything in the world, simplicity, sincerity, seriousness... When this is conveyed correctly to customers, it creates a sense of awe. Every time I visit, Mr. Hitomi makes me think beyond just the food, about what a person should be like! Serving simple yet impressive dish after dish of yakitori, Mr. Hitomi is not only a great chef but also a wonderful person. I changed the angle a bit for each dish in the images. Visited my favorite restaurant, "Sumika" in Nagoya, with friends and their family. No matter how many times I come, the generous portions of Takasaka chicken cooked by Mr. Hitomi are always the best. This time, we tried the duck loin and Kyoto Jitokko sukiyaki, which we had never ordered before. People in Nagoya may not associate chicken dishes with deliciousness, but I'm glad they enjoyed the chicken dishes as well.

Super simple and super basic! This is the "Hitomi (Toriniku)" restaurant, a top-notch yakitori place. Once you experience the yakitori dishes at "Hitomi (Toriniku)," all other yakitori restaurants will pale in comparison. Their straightforward, standard yakitori dishes are unmatched in deliciousness. I saved my lunch on the day of my reservation to prepare for this experience. Each dish exceeded my expectations, with the chef's skills shining at the grill. The delicate and meticulous approach to each skewer is a key element in maintaining the unique taste of this restaurant. I hope they continue to thrive for many years to come! On August 1, 2023, Tuesday, at 5:58 PM, I entered the store. Today I had a day off from work, so I went for lunch in Kyobashi and then took the premium car on the Keihan train from Kyobashi to Sanjo before coming to this restaurant ❤️㊗️. It's a very popular restaurant that's quite difficult to make reservations for. I've been coming here with my family since around 2009, and on my own since around 2011. Back then, it was already a popular spot where you could make reservations for a month ahead, but now it's a year in advance, and recently, you have to book a few months ahead at the beginning of the month. It's become incredibly popular, and among the restaurants I frequent, there's none as difficult to reserve as this one ❤️❣️. Popular places like this are supported by customers, making them really great restaurants, right? ❤️. There are also many customers from overseas, and there are several people on the waiting list for cancellations, making it a very prosperous restaurant ❤️㊗️. Mr. Hitomi's training of the part-time female staff is excellent, paying attention to even the smallest details like how they speak to customers and how they serve the dishes ❤️㊗️. The part-time female staff here include medical students from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, students from Kyoto University's Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Engineering, and in the past, medical students from Kansai Medical University who would come all the way from Hirakata Station to work part-time ❤️❣️. Mr. Hitomi's memory is amazing, and I think he must be selecting based on academic background during interviews ❤️❣️. Today, my bodybuilder friend and I visited together ❤️㊗️. Since we both eat and drink a lot, the total bill came to 33,400 yen including tax. The bill for one person was 16,700 yen including tax ❤️㊗️. Due to reservation constraints, we can't come here often, so we enjoyed delicious food to our hearts' content ❤️㊗️. Thank you for the delicious dishes today. Thank you, Atsushi Hamamura. It is a well-known yakitori restaurant in Kyoto. It was difficult to get through on the phone, so I had a friend make a reservation for me. The restaurant was fully booked with reservations the whole time! They were not accepting walk-ins. The food was delicious and reasonably priced! It was easy to see why everyone keeps coming back. The yakitori was amazing, and the grilled rice balls and chicken porridge were also outstanding!!! The only downside was that our reservation was for the 8 o'clock slot, so some items were already sold out. It's understandable since it's such a popular place. I hope I can go back before they run out next time. The hospitality of the owner was also very good. As we were leaving, I couldn't help but ask, "How can I come back again?"

Mr. Hitomi. A difficult-to-reserve restaurant... Luckily, I was able to get through on the phone and visit. Yes. You can enjoy Kyoto local chicken and Takasaka chicken a la carte. The grilled dishes were really good. Skilled chefs, indeed. The popular restaurant seemed busy from start to finish. I felt really sorry for forcing my way in as a first-time customer, but I had a great meal!

Not only the grilled chicken, but also the thigh salt, chicken tenderloin, tsukune, grilled chicken skin, shiso leaf rolls, and rice balls with sansho pepper, minced chicken bowl, etc., are more than just delicious - they leave a lasting impression on your heart. Perhaps it's because of the owner, the staff, and the atmosphere of the restaurant that make you feel this way. Despite being such a great place, the prices are surprisingly affordable. It's not easy to make a reservation, but it's definitely a great restaurant.

You can never go wrong no matter how many times you visit. The quality of each dish and each skewer is consistently high. I always feel both "reassured" and "surprised". The key factor behind this is the head chef personally handling the grilling. For example, the meticulousness, care, and time put into grilling a single "grilled rice ball". You can strongly feel the passion and dedication of a craftsman who does not compromise at all. It's no wonder it's delicious! I hope this wonderful restaurant will continue to exist forever. The skewers are all really delicious. Absolutely perfect. Hitomi-san always talks to me kindly and I'm happy about that! Being able to get extra cabbage is also nice. On the other hand, the salad was disappointing as it was too watery and sweet, so if you're not looking for color, just the cabbage is satisfying enough. The minced chicken bowl was also great, with the eggs being fluffy and the minced chicken having a good flavor that I couldn't stop eating! The chicken soup was a bit lacking in flavor. The chicken cutlet that I ordered for the first time was incredibly delicious and I will definitely order it again. It seemed like all the staff were newbies that day, and I watched with warm nostalgia as they were being guided accurately. I hope to see them grow and become more efficient in serving soon, but most of all, I can't wait to visit again soon! LOL

One day, I decided to call and the owner answered. It was my first visit to Toriya Hitomi in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City. It's a yakitori restaurant located in a traditional house along the street of The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto. It's a place known for being difficult to make reservations, something I didn't know. They don't have a set system for calling on specific days or times, so you just have to try your luck. The owner was kind enough to inform me that "the phone probably won't connect"... and it did. The owner was very polite and explained that they spend their time preparing and serving customers. The top recommendation is the Soleris, with most items priced at only 200 yen each. They are one of the few yakitori restaurants that use Takasaka chicken. The prices are too cheap for the quality. The skin is thin and crispy, while the meat is tender and has a perfect texture. The salt seasoning makes you crave for a lemon sour. This time I was seated at a table on the second floor, but next time I want to sit at the counter and listen to the owner's casual talk. They only accept reservations up to three months in advance and it's already fully booked. I managed to secure a spot by begging. I don't really like the idea of continuously calling until you get through. Sorry for being pushy, but I'll be back to eat three servings alone, so please forgive me. We waited for the call and arrived around 9 pm. The price for the quality of the yakitori we received was amazing. The chef was also very friendly. We enjoyed dishes like honey mustard chicken thigh, Kyoto Akadoko chicken tail, Kyoto Jidori chicken breast, Tanba Sasayama Takasaka chicken wings, fried chicken thighs, Kyoto Jidori chicken with leeks, nagaimo and shiitake mushrooms, real sansho onigiri, chicken soup, tomato, and Takasaka chicken wing tips.

The popular yakitori restaurant, Sumibi, located at the east entrance of Kawabata-dori street, carefully grills their skewers to perfection. Each skewer is delicious and reasonably priced. Due to its increasing popularity, they are currently not accepting reservations. We had the opportunity to try a variety of skewers, each grilled with different levels of doneness and seasoning, and they were all incredibly delicious!

I read a manga called "Tachinomi Gojo" in the evening manga magazine and happened to read the yakitori chapter. I thought to myself, "I want to eat delicious yakitori..." and then, two days later, a friend invited me out for yakitori! It felt like they read my mind! So, I visited this recommended place with my friend. We ordered various dishes and tried them all. Everything was delicious, but personally, the rice ball with sansho pepper and the table salt with sansho pepper were too spicy and made my tongue tingle. Also, according to my friend, "It takes about 30 minutes for the food to come out after ordering here," so it's best to order early.

It's been a year since I visited this renovated old house turned yakitori restaurant along the Nijo Street, and it's still incredibly difficult to make a reservation here. The atmosphere inside is warm and inviting. The prices are surprisingly cheap, and everything on the menu is delicious. The service is top-notch, which explains why it's so hard to get a reservation. Today, I visited the highly acclaimed and hard-to-book restaurant "Sumisai Toriya Hito" which has received awards from both the Michelin Guide 2023 Bib Gourmand category and the Tabelog Top 100 Restaurants 2022 for Yakitori. We managed to secure a reservation just before 10 p.m. and I was looking forward to it. It was quite cold, so I decided to start with a "Momosake" hot water split, while my companion opted for a "Lime Soda". We ordered a variety of yakitori skewers including "Torinegi", "Seseri", "Momo Shio", "Torihire", "Sunazuri", "Kokoro", "Kyoto Akadori Atsu Hada", "Kyoto Akadori Tail", "Tanba Sasayama Takasaka Chicken Momo", and "Tanba Sasayama Takasaka Chicken Breast", two each. We also ordered some "Yaki Onigiri". The Momosake was quite unique and delicious. The appetizers were also well-prepared. The head chef was humble and the female staff were polite and attentive, just as I had heard. The yakitori arrived, starting with the "Seseri" which was delicious. The meat was juicy and flavorful. Next, we tried the "Sunazuri" which was also excellent. We then enjoyed the "Tanba Sasayama Takasaka Chicken Momo" and "Kyoto Akadory Atsu Hada". The Momo had a nice layer of fat and the Atsu Hada had a satisfying texture. We also tried the "Tanba Sasayama Takasaka Chicken Breast" which was light and refreshing. The "Kyoto Akadory Tail" had a rich flavor and I personally enjoyed it. The "Kokoro" was juicy and tasty. As the last order time approached, we managed to order "Seseri" x2, "Sunazuri" x1, "Kyoto Akadory Tail" x6, "Chicken Karaage", "Sukiyaki", and "Ojiya (Sukiyaki finale)". We also ordered a "Akadamari" which I had heard of but never tried. We then ordered a "Akadamari" and continued with "Torihire" and "Momo Shio". The dishes were all delicious. We also tried the "Chicken Karaage" which was perfectly cooked. I also ordered a refill of my drink, a "Joju Matcha Umeshu" with soda. The staff were very attentive and accommodating, offering discounts if the chicken skewers were smaller than usual. Lastly, we had the Sukiyaki as our finale, which was prepared in the kitchen. The exceptional service and warm hospitality made our dining experience truly enjoyable. I will definitely be back soon. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
