Located in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, is the yakiniku restaurant "Nikuryori Arakawa." Despite having a rating of 3.72 on Tabelog, it ranks 245th out of approximately 22,000 restaurants in Kyoto Prefecture. In the Tabelog ranking for yakiniku restaurants in Kyoto Prefecture, it holds the 6th position, which is quite impressive. I made a reservation four days ago and visited for dinner. The restaurant is conveniently located near Hankyu Railway's "Kyoto Kawaramachi Station," just a 2-3 minute walk away. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly host who seated me at the counter. The restaurant has only counter seating. I checked the drink menu and started with a toast of draft beer. I opted for a la carte ordering instead of a course menu. Here is what I ordered: - Assorted cuts (upper sirloin, upper loin, upper belly) for 7,800 yen - Techan (beef tongue) for 800 yen - Harami (skirt steak) for 1,800 yen - Napa cabbage kimchi for 500 yen As a service, I also received shiitake mushrooms, taro, and roast beef. The total bill came to 13,310 yen. Established in 1968, this long-standing restaurant served delicious yakiniku. The meat they offer seems to vary depending on the season and region. I enjoyed the meat with ponzu, salt, wasabi soy sauce, and the enhanced flavor from garlic. The Techan with salt was particularly delicious. The restaurant is known for serving multiple dishes as complimentary services, with the giant shiitake mushrooms leaving a lasting impression. The host humorously called it "time-wasting until the meat is ready." The open kitchen allows you to see the cutting process after ordering, keeping you entertained. I ended the meal with a refreshing fresh juice, opting for orange juice to cleanse my palate. I left the restaurant promptly and headed to a renowned oden shop, followed by a bar. "Nikuryori Arakawa" has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Restaurants" by Tabelog users, recognized for offering an unforgettable dining experience. Kyoto Prefecture boasts many wonderful dining establishments, and I look forward to visiting other notable places like "Ebahata," "Fujimura," "Yakiniku Yamachan," and "Kyoto Yakiniku Hiro." "Nikuryori Arakawa" is a highly regarded restaurant that promises to deliver delicious yakiniku tailored to each customer's preferences. I may visit again if the opportunity arises.

The freshness of the meat is amazing. Most of the meat is of such high quality that it can be eaten raw. I always end up ordering the recommended "basic course", which is probably the most reasonable and enjoyable option. You can try a variety of meats little by little. Today, the shoulder meat sashimi and marushin were delicious. Personally, I think they taste best with wasabi soy sauce. The ramen at the end is also something to look forward to.

This was my first visit to the restaurant. I made a reservation and ordered the recommended course for ¥13,000. Since I was driving, I opted for black oolong tea. The course included yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) with salt, soy sauce, and ginger; tarehatsu (grilled beef tongue); roasted asparagus with sesame oil and salt; beef roast with garlic chips; kimchi and assorted namul (seasoned vegetables); various cuts of beef sashimi; garlic rice; and watermelon juice. The meats were delicious and well-seasoned, and the variety of flavors in the dishes was impressive. The restaurant, which has only counter seating, mainly had foreign customers. I left feeling very full and refreshed with the watermelon juice. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

A small counter-only restaurant with about 10 seats. The atmosphere is fantastic. A must-visit for meat lovers. The owner will cut the order for you. The sashimi is incredibly fresh and delicious here. Of course, the yakiniku is also tasty.

I had trouble finding the right timing to visit, but I was finally able to enjoy delicious meat for the first time this year. I asked for the chef's choice as usual, but it seems like they have reduced the portion a bit compared to before. It's a shame to see such delicious food go to waste.

Located a 5-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto, this popular yakiniku restaurant, which has been awarded the Best 100 Yakiniku Restaurants on Tabelog, is a must-visit! The interior features a 14-seat L-shaped counter with an open kitchen, where the master chef cuts various types of meat in the center when orders come in, making it a fun experience to watch. Despite appearing a bit intimidating at first, the master chef is actually very friendly and considerate, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. They serve fresh meats, including delicious hormone sashimi. I recommend starting with the chef's choice course and then adding on any additional items you'd like. Reservations are essential as this is a very popular restaurant that tends to fill up quickly. During my visit with 4 people, we spent around 17,000 yen per person, including drinks. The menu included roast beef, yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), namul (Korean seasoned vegetables), three types of meat sashimi, heart, white intestine, maruchin (beef omasum), tongue sashimi, asparagus, chicken tail, lamp, shiitake mushrooms, brisket, tripe, chicken tail, tail, teppanyaki, roast, harami (skirt steak), tongue, garlic fried rice. Don't forget to save this great restaurant for future reference! Follow my foodie accounts on Instagram and TikTok for more recommendations.

The meat was incredibly delicious ❤️ I could enjoy various types of meat, raw or with salt and sauce. The restaurant has been around for about 60 years and is quite traditional. The only downside was the small restroom. Nevertheless, I will definitely go back again!

The 8900 yen course is amazing. It includes yukke, assorted raw meats (senmai, heart, loin), assorted namul dishes, shiitake mushrooms, assorted kimchi, tongue, fillet, harami, loin, belly, three kinds of meat platter, tetchan, garlic rice, and a mandarin juice as dessert. This volume for under 10,000 yen is impressive. The quality of the meat is also very good. Especially the three kinds of lean meat platter is tender and delicious. Lately, there are many mixes of meat and traditional Japanese cuisine, but if you want to focus on meat, this place is recommended.

I made a reservation for a ¥8,900 course. The daughter and father run the restaurant. They are very friendly, and the father is surprisingly kind. They taught us how to eat the meat according to the type, and we enjoyed it with red wine. The meat was a bit chewy, so I didn't ask if it was from a female cow or how many months old it was, but I still enjoyed it without worrying about that. I would like to visit again.

Arakawa, a meat cuisine restaurant located a 3-5 minute walk from Kawaramachi Station in Kyoto. It is a yakiniku restaurant where you can sit at the counter and feel the history. They have been selected as one of the top 100 yakiniku restaurants for 4 consecutive years since 2018. The warm and homey atmosphere of the place makes it enjoyable to have conversations with the owner even if you visit alone. This time, we ordered popular dishes such as Upper Harami, Upper Loin, Tan Yukke, and Garlic Fried Rice. The Tan Yukke is a dish that combines the soft part of the tongue with the regular tongue, allowing you to enjoy a variety of textures. The Upper Loin and Harami, seasoned with a refreshing sauce, can be enjoyed without feeling the greasiness, allowing you to fully appreciate the deliciousness of the meat. The Garlic Fried Rice, generously topped with garlic chips, has a strong garlic aroma and is of high quality comparable to teppanyaki restaurants. If you want to try sophisticated and flavorful yakiniku, be sure to visit this place. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Today, I went on a BBQ expedition and visited the meat restaurant Arakawa!! This place is very popular based on word of mouth, and it had a great reputation even among customers from Nagoya. So, I made a reservation to check it out and learn more! The restaurant is located in a quiet alley just off the main street. We had a smooth check-in as we had a reservation for 5:00 PM, and we were seated at the best table right in front of where they prepare the meat. We ordered the omakase course for ¥8,900 and started with some roasted tongue. Then we had fresh sashimi, grilled vegetables, various dishes, garlic rice for the finale, and fresh pineapple juice as a palate cleanser. The cost performance was great, and the chef's friendly demeanor really added to the experience. Not only was the food delicious, but you could see the chef's dedication to the meat throughout. It was a great restaurant that made me want to come back again! It was a very educational experience! Thank you for the meal!

On a rainy Saturday, we happened to secure a reservation for two at 8:30 pm. Everything was exquisite, and the chef and staff were very welcoming. The most impressive item was the lemon sour. It had a flavor that exceeded my expectations, with a rich lemon taste that was luxurious. As for the food, the daikon kimchi stood out. It had a good balance of flavor, with a nice crunch and sweetness. The meat sashimi consisted of white tripe and maybe heart? Regardless, the heart was delicious when eaten with sesame oil and salt. The tripe was thinly sliced, unlike the larger pieces found at other restaurants, which was refreshing. It was all so delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

▪️Niku Arakawa - Kyoto Kawaramachi▪️Price Range: 8000〜▪️Credit cards accepted, reservations recommendedThis is my favorite place for meat dishes. Everything from the drinks to the food is delicious! The kimchi is also homemade by the owner and the meat is fresh. You can watch them skillfully prepare the meat right in front of you, almost like a show while you eat. And after you finish your meal, you get homemade garlic chips which are also amazing! Yakiniku Arakawa in Kawaramachi - A miraculous visit with a same-day reservation! A stylish meat restaurant unique to a hundred famous shops, located about 3 minutes from Kawaramachi Station. It's hard to tell where it is from the outside. After circling the same place about 5 times, we finally found it! It was a bit tough for first-timers. The interior is surrounded by counter seats that give off a Showa era atmosphere, which adds a unique charm. Various meats are displayed at the center of the kitchen, raising expectations for the dishes to come! We started with a toast with beer. The appetizer was sliced boiled beef tongue, kimchi, namul, and potato salad - enough to make you feel full at an izakaya. And then, the eagerly awaited meat arrived! A platter of marbled, fresh meat that can be eaten raw. The three-point platter with melting lean meat was so fresh that it could be eaten raw. The more you chew, the more the umami flavor overflows. And then, the sweet potatoes slowly appeared on the iron plate. This tested the limits of our stomachs. Just when we wanted to eat delicious meat, the sweet potatoes filled our stomachs! Next, we entered the sauce meat zone! The dishes kept coming one after another! We watched with hungry eyes as the fried rice was being cooked, and they kindly served us garlic fried rice with plenty of garlic! Furthermore, a double finale! Carbohydrates! They even served us bibimbap with plenty of namul on top. They were very kind to us visitors, and we were able to enjoy our meal with warm hearts! Average spending per customer @20000, Seating @Counter, Nearest station @Kawaramachi. Thank you for the meal!

The freshness of the meat, variety of types, deliciousness, and the kindness of the head chef were all amazing at this restaurant. Not only the meat, but also the side dishes like Bibimbap and cold noodles were delicious without any flaws. The head chef's son also works part-time, and despite being a young university student, he provided excellent service and attention, making the dinner time wonderful from start to finish. The constant ringing of the phone for reservations also explains why it's a difficult-to-book restaurant. I would love to visit again when I go to Kyoto.

Amazing yakiniku restaurant! The hospitable owner, Mr. Arakawa, serves delicious meat that you won't want to leave a single bite behind. This was my first visit, recommended by a local friend, and I had heard rumors of its deliciousness before. I was completely satisfied this time. We ordered a la carte dishes like liver, regular beef tongue, thick-cut beef tongue, regular beef fillet, harami, and garlic fried rice. The meat was incredibly fresh, and Mr. Arakawa skillfully sliced the wagyu tongue and meat right in front of us before serving. The freshness of the meat was so great that we could almost enjoy it rare. It was a true pleasure to taste the deliciousness of wagyu tongue once again. While it's delicious with just salt, it's even better when eaten with garlic chips for an added garlic flavor. The marbling of the fillet was exceptional, spreading the umami of wagyu throughout my mouth and making me smile involuntarily. As for the garlic fried rice as the finishing touch, sprinkling the garlic chips we were given as a condiment on top created a crispy texture that perfectly matched the original garlic seasoning of the fried rice, making me want to have seconds. Mr. Arakawa kindly explained various types of meat, making the atmosphere of the restaurant very pleasant. They also have a variety of wines available, so if you're looking to enjoy wine and meat, this is definitely a recommended spot!

Visited with two colleagues. Arrived at 19:30 and the restaurant was full, seems like the second round from 17:00. It's an old-fashioned popular yakiniku restaurant with a theater-style layout where meat is cut in the central part of the counter in a horseshoe shape. Since we had been eating since lunch, we ordered only horumon a la carte today. We had: ① Free: appetizer (grilled pork, 5 kinds of namul), grilled white eggplant ② 2400 yen: tongue (yukhoe + sashimi) ③ Service: abushin (fatty heart) ④ 800 yen: grilled heart with sansho soy sauce ⑤ 1600 yen: tekkhan (salt + sauce). Here are our thoughts on the dishes: - The master cutting the meat chunks is like a theater-style yakiniku, attracting the attention of all customers. - The owner remembered our last visit and changed the appetizer from salad to namul. The difference in texture between the juicy yukhoe and the tender sashimi was enjoyable. - We received a service of abushin, which was fatty and flavorful. - The grilled heart was mostly eaten raw, with a tender texture. - The tekkhan was seasoned with just salt, but adding grated ponzu sauce helped enhance the flavor. - The sauce for the tongue was sweet and well done. Overall, the food was rated 4.2, the cost performance 4.4, and the total experience 4.3. We enjoyed the horumon dishes, but it would have been even better with liver on the menu. The master always strives to ensure customer satisfaction, which was evident in the content and service provided. We left at 21:10, and the bill for two people, including two glasses of ponzu, three non-alcoholic drinks, and one lemon highball, came to 9500 yen.

The assorted raw meat, white senmai, tongue, heart, rare steak, and Achilles tendon were unusual but delicious. I also had regular sirloin and regular fillet for yakiniku, both of which had meat quality that could be considered top-notch at other restaurants. The large shiitake mushrooms were thick and packed with flavor. Lastly, I received garlic chips as a souvenir. I truly felt that this restaurant deserves its place among the top 100.

I visited a restaurant in Kumamoto for the first time and tried chicken hormones (specifically neck skin), which made me crave for intestines (large intestine) at a yakiniku restaurant. I made a solo reservation the day before while bar hopping. The restaurant accepted my reservation for 5:00-6:45 pm. I arrived at 5:00 pm and there was only one other group of two customers already there. The restaurant is located down a side street off Kawaramachi Street. Inside, there is a counter with 10 seats arranged in a U-shape, with a cutting board in the center where you can watch the meat being cut, creating a theatrical yakiniku experience. The restaurant is run by a man in his 50s, an elderly lady, their daughter (18 years old), and a female assistant. We were served a complimentary vegetable salad and a large grilled mushroom. I ordered the following dishes: 1. Tail 1500 yen, 2. Heart with sansho pepper soy sauce 800 yen, 3. Intestines 800 yen, 4. Rice 300 yen, 5. Highball 900 yen, 6. Lemon shochu highball 800 yen. Here are my thoughts on the food: 1. The tail was served already cooked, so you can enjoy it as is or with mustard or grilled with grated ponzu sauce. Rating: 3.7. 2. The heart was served raw and had a unique texture. I was surprised by how enjoyable it was to eat it raw. It was a revelation for me as I usually prefer fatty cuts. You can have it grilled with salt or grated ponzu sauce. Rating: 4.3. 3. The intestines were the highlight of the meal. They were also served raw and had a soft, fluffy texture that almost felt like it could be eaten even with dentures. It was my third time trying intestines, and I was told that they handle a rare cut that can only be obtained from 700g of a single cow. Rating: 4.2. Note: The marinated sauce was a bit too strong for my liking. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, it would be a 4.5. I requested a sweeter sauce for my next visit. Overall food rating: 4.1. Although my reservation was casual, dishes 2 and 3 were like a home run hitting streak by Ohtani with 20-21 consecutive home runs! Since it seems okay to eat heart and tongue raw, I plan to focus on a golden trio of hormone dishes including intestines on my next visit. The chef saw me off and gave me a souvenir (garlic chips) as I left at 6:00 pm, with two groups of four customers remaining. It seemed to be fully booked from 7:00 pm onwards.
