I came to Tokyo Station to buy souvenirs, so I'm exploring the area. There are a lot of people here and many shops. I bought Tokyo's specialty "gomatamago". There was a long line for it. Gomatamago is a castella cake filled with black sesame paste and coated with white chocolate. The black sesame paste is sticky and delicious. It goes well with the white chocolate and castella. This is really delicious.

During my time working at Marunouchi, I used to explore Yaesu Exit and the underground shopping area during lunch breaks. However, I rarely had the chance to truly enjoy my lunch breaks, and it was only a few times. Grand Kiosk is a kiosk store owned by JR Tokai Group, covering the Osaka area along the Tokaido Shinkansen line. Not only serving as a convenience store, they also offer perfect souvenirs such as specialty sweets that are worth trying. One of the highlights is the premium Baumkuchen called "Jiichiro" by Yataro Group, a food manufacturer from Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. They have a specialty store in Echika Tokyo. "Kimi no Mama" is a cut Baumkuchen that you can easily purchase at this kiosk. It is made with plenty of eggs, giving it a yellow, moist, and fluffy texture like a tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette). The cut Baumkuchen comes in four pieces, with a plastic fork attached to the bottom of the package. When you actually taste it, you can feel that a considerable amount of fat is used to create the moistness, making your fingers oily when you eat it with your hands. Indeed, one piece is satisfying enough. While I appreciate the richness of the egg, I personally prefer the traditional style of Baumkuchen with a firmer texture. However, everyone has their own preferences, so I think this is also good. Whether you need a drink before boarding the Shinkansen or looking for a quick breakfast like sandwiches or onigiri, this kiosk offers a wide variety of products, making it worth a visit at Tokyo Station. This is a purchase made at the end of March 2020. As of May 20th, the shop is currently closed. It is located outside the ticket gates of Tokyo Station, just straight ahead after exiting the Yaesu Central ticket gate and on the left-hand corner. For Shinkansen users, it is located right after exiting the Yaesu Central North Exit. It is also very close to the station entrance at the Yaesu Central Exit. The shop is located on the corner, with a wide range of souvenir items displayed on two sides. It is the shop that stays open the latest in the station, which I find very convenient, and I have used it multiple times for souvenirs for my home. The products available vary throughout the year and seem to change quite frequently. On this particular day, I came to purchase the popular Rokuhou Sokuzei, a box of 20 pieces, which my family and I enjoyed two weeks ago. I had previously purchased a box of 12 pieces for 1,944 yen, but this time the 20-piece box was priced at 3,240 yen. Although it may seem a bit pricey, it is actually quite reasonable. The box contains 10 pieces each of plain and chocolate flavors. They also offer a 30-piece box for 4,860 yen, although it was not available at the shop on that day. Now, onto the review of the product. The biscuit has a truly satisfying crispy texture, and it is filled with nuts (walnuts, cashews, almonds) and ginger soaked in honey. The craftsmanship is truly impressive. I learned from their website that they are handmade, which explains the high quality. It truly puts you in a delightful mood when you eat it. My family, being ginger lovers, finished it in no time. The center part is moist with a delicate sweetness, which pairs perfectly with the crispy biscuit. The plain and chocolate flavors each have a different impression, and preferences varied among my family members. At 162 yen per piece in the 20-piece box, it is definitely worth the price and a highly satisfying treat. Lastly, the manufacturer is Hiroo Hyoutsugetsudou in Meguro. I also discovered that they offer three types of figs on their website. Although slightly pricier, I definitely want to try them! Both the shop and the sweets come highly recommended! There are two shops near Yaesu Chuo Exit. One is a souvenir shop and the other is a kiosk. Today, I bought a Ham Sandwich for 250 yen for breakfast before using the Shinkansen. It was a sandwich filled with plenty of ham with a strong mustard flavor. It was delicious.

Near the Yaesu exit of Tokyo Station, there is a kiosk that sells a variety of famous souvenirs like Tokyo Banana. The store is quite small, but they have a good selection of souvenirs. I tried the sesame manju for the first time, and it was individually packaged, making it easy to share. The flavor was a mix of sweet and salty, perfect to enjoy with tea. It's a bit pricey at over 600 yen for 5 pieces, but it has a luxurious feel to it.

The fluffy sponge cake filled with creamy banana cream is delicious. They currently sell six different flavors, but each shop may carry different ones, so you have to search around to find your favorite. Tokyo Banana Panda (4 pieces for 515 yen): These panda-patterned banana yogurt-flavored Tokyo Bananas are cute and perfect for celebrating the birth of Shan Shan. The panda paws are adorable. Tokyo Banana Banana Pudding (4 pieces for 515 yen): These giraffe-patterned banana pudding-flavored Tokyo Bananas are my favorite in terms of taste. Personally, I find the Gao (caramel flavor) the cutest and most enjoyable.

I purchased the Cheese Langue de Chat from Yokohama Motomachi Confectionery Research Institute at Grand Kiosk Tokyo Station. There were around 10 pieces inside, each one feeling heavy and substantial. The cheese was rich with a hint of sweetness. Even as a sweets lover, I couldn't eat too many pieces at once. This is a review of the Matcha Cream Cake with Azuki Beans from Tokyo Banana World in Ginza. I bought it as a souvenir at Gransta Tokyo when I was at Tokyo Station for errands. It is wrapped in a fine sponge cake with a smooth matcha milk cream. The cake has a cute matcha heart on top and is a modern take on traditional Japanese sweets. The shop that sells this cake in Ginza is limited, so I was lucky to get this limited edition treat.

At the Grand Kiosk Tokyo located outside the Yaesu North Exit ticket gate, I found cookies from the Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory. I had seen them before at Ueno Station. Since this place sells souvenirs, there are no samples available. I have tried them before and found them delicious, so I decided to purchase some. The cookies have a rich cheese flavor, but even for someone like me who can't eat cheese on its own, they are enjoyable. My favorite is the one with dough infused with Spanish rosemary flower honey and sandwiched with rich Gorgonzola chocolate.

I received a 1000 yen voucher to use at a designated shop in Tokyo Station for food and souvenirs as part of a travel set. I decided to visit Grand Kiosk Tokyo near the Yaesu Central Exit to purchase the Chocolat Puff from Gin no Budou. The banana yogurt cream inside the fluffy pastry was delicious. The pattern on it was also cute!
