Bukkake Udon with Tempura Assortment - Cold, 1,330 yen. Weekdays at 12:30, with a 2-group, 4-person waitlist and full seating, write your name on the board at the entrance, choose your menu from the menu on the barrel, and wait. Follow the instructions obediently. There is no need to line up in a single file; it seems like you just need to be within earshot of the staff's voice. I decided on the cold bukkake udon with a variety of tempura (chicken, fish cake, shrimp, and shiso leaf tempura) over hot or zaru, or with sudachi. I arrived in about 10 minutes, sat at the counter, and despite the freezing cold outside, the warmth inside from the steam of boiling udon quickly dispelled the chill. The dish arrived in about 7 minutes, beautifully presented. The female staff member instructed me to squeeze lemon and pour the sauce, which I obediently did. I personally didn't need the lemon, but the dish was quite light and refreshing. In addition to the 4 types of tempura, there were grated daikon radish, green onions, and chopped seaweed as toppings. The udon, made by the owner who trained in Sanuki, Kagawa, did not have as much chewiness as I expected, but it was smooth on the surface with a bit of chewiness in the core. In Kansai, a softer texture is preferred, so it was a good balance between Sanuki and Kansai styles. It was delicious! Personally, I prefer udon with more chewiness. The bukkake sauce had a strong dashi flavor rather than a soy sauce taste. It was more umami-rich than salty, making it a perfect match for the udon. I ate about a third of the udon before enjoying the tempura. The shiso leaf tempura was crispy and delicious, the chicken tempura was tender and juicy with a nice touch of black pepper in the batter, and the shrimp, although a bit small, was firm and succulent. The most delicious tempura was the fish cake tempura! It had a surprising sweetness and umami flavor, and it was quite large at about 10 centimeters, very satisfying! I then finished by mixing the grated daikon, green onions, and seaweed, enjoying the flavors until the last bite! Although it was a regular size (300g), I devoured it all! At the time of payment, the male staff member asked, "Are you full?" and the female staff member who was outside said, "It's cold today, but was the cold bukkake okay?" The owner even said, "Be careful on your bike ride home." The owner and staff were very friendly and attentive! It's a wonderful restaurant! It may seem like a small gesture, but it's nice to hear those words! A Michelin-recognized restaurant listed in the Tabelog Best 100! I'll definitely revisit for the curry udon next time, as it looked incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal!
