Today, I visited a patisserie in Kyoto, which has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. I made a reservation in advance for cakes and bread, and when I arrived, I was greeted by a display of beautifully arranged cakes and a showcase dedicated to Bonbon Chocolat. The staff recommended the Gâteau Fromage Tart as the Fromage Tart was not available at the moment. It was a combination of almond cream and smooth cheese. The Tart Chocolat had a crispy tart base with a smooth and rich blend of two chocolates, leaving a wonderful aftertaste. Unfortunately, all the bread I had reserved was sold out, but I did get to try the Croissant, which was delicious with a crispy exterior and moist inside, leaving a lingering aroma. It surpassed even the top 100 bread shops in quality. The Maple Croissant had a moist exterior with a sweet maple aroma. The Pain Chocolat was a Danish pastry with an incredible chocolate melt-in-your-mouth experience. I also tried five varieties of Bonbon Chocolat: Citron Frais, Ooba, Myoga Pamplemousse, Griotte Pistache, and Noir. Each one was delicious, with the Chef's original blend of Noir being exceptionally amazing. The chocolate was meticulously crafted with a perfect balance of aroma, texture, and melt-in-your-mouth experience. The quality of the cakes, chocolates, and bread was astonishing. Despite the high prices, I left feeling completely satisfied. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I'm drawn to the beautiful and delicate chocolates, I can't decide which one to choose. I later found out that it's a famous shop among the top 100. It's truly impressive. I would love to visit the café at the back of the store in Teramachi-dori, Kyoto.

I ordered takeout from this place and got Suble Fromage for 160 yen, Financier for 280 yen, and Madeleine for 280 yen. The total came to 777 yen including tax. I arrived around 4:30 PM and the cakes were already sold out. Thank you for the meal. Thank you, Kakimoto-san!

Patisserie located in the northeast of the Karasuma Oike area in Kyoto. The chef has participated in the World Chocolate Masters competition as the representative of Japan not just once, but twice. The sweets mainly focus on chocolate, but there are also non-chocolate options available. I tried takeout.
- Fromage Vanille Tart: Crispy cookie crust with a fluffy vanilla cream. The cream cheese at the bottom has a rich depth of flavor that sets it apart from typical cream cheese. Simple combination but very delicious.
- Éclair: Three types of caramel cream in a baked crepe-like pastry with a pie crust lid. The different caramel creams with varying bitterness and textures are enjoyable.
- Pistachio: Pistachio buttercream, custard, and strawberries. The pistachio flavor is just right, not too overpowering. The strawberries add a gentle touch, and the texture changes in your mouth are truly enjoyable.
- Mont Blanc: Plenty of fresh cream inside with a hint of vanilla and lemon flavors, making it refreshing. The crispy meringue at the bottom and the crunchy crust add a nice contrast.
- Chocolat Vanille: Very smooth and creamy chocolate cream with a mellow chocolate flavor. The vanilla cream inside is not overpowering, allowing the chocolate to shine.
- Yuzu Chocolat: Corentro mousse, yuzu jelly, and chocolate cream tart. The citrus flavor spreads throughout your mouth. The combination of chocolate cream with the citrusy yuzu is delicious.
- Assemblage: Cake that won the World Chocolate Masters Japan Qualifying Tournament. Cocoa & milky chocolate, caramel, yuzu, and coffee flavors mixed together in a unique and delicious way.
- Champignon: Cookie choux with mascarpone cream and custard. The mascarpone has a rich vanilla flavor, and the slightly salty choux is distinctive.
Bread and pastries:
- Croissant Amande: Crispy on the outside, moist inside with a syrup coating. Not too heavy, with a perfect balance. The almond slices are perfectly toasted, and the almond flavor is rich. The hint of liqueur in the syrup adds a nice touch.
- Financier: Hazelnut-infused dough with a rum and coffee coating on the bottom. The buttery, almond flavor with a hint of hazelnut is delightful.
- Ganache Roule: A roll cake with two types of chocolate. The chocolate is delicious with a slight hint of liqueur and a rich chocolate taste.
- Sosison Orange: Chocolate-based with almonds, marshmallows, caramel, and orange. The combination of crunchy almonds, fluffy marshmallows, citrusy orange, and caramel is harmonious and delicious. The variety of flavors and textures make it a delightful experience.

Popular cafe in Kyoto known for their chocolates and cakes. They open at 12 o'clock, and when I visited around 1 o'clock, many cakes were already sold out. They offer eat-in exclusive parfaits, shaved ice, chocolate desserts, and peach desserts, all of which looked delicious, but I was too full to try them this time, so I chose from the showcase. You place your order at the showcase before being seated. Luckily, there was one seat available, so I was seated right away. I ordered a mousse with a hint of coffee aroma, filled with mochi and sweet bean paste. It was a strange combination, but the mousse was delicious, and I finished it quickly. The cafe was crowded when I arrived, but it became less busy later on. However, since it's a counter-only cafe, there's a chance you may have to wait if you're unlucky. I would like to try the eat-in exclusive menu next time.

I lined up about 5 minutes before the opening on my day off and visited La Jardan at 12:00 with a reservation. The burning chocolate I ordered was enjoyable in terms of visual, aroma, and taste. The combination with the iced tea I ordered together was also very good. I tried to order a chocolate cake as an addition, but it was sold out by around 12:30, so a reservation might be necessary when aiming for the chocolate cake.

Every year during the Obon holiday season, I visit this cafe with my son who loves chocolate and has a birthday coming up. We aim to be the first customers when they open, and on this particular day, there were mostly take-out customers due to it being the first day of the Obon holiday. The cafe was mostly empty, with only a few other customers who seemed to be travelers. I ordered the Chocolat Vanille for 720 yen and the Tarte Fromage Vanille for 650 yen, both of which were cakes that had impressed me before. The last time I had them, they had a unique texture that almost seemed to melt as soon as I cut into them. However, this time, the texture was firmer and did not collapse as easily. The flavors were still delicious, but they seemed lighter this time. The Chocolat Vanille had a subtle vanilla scent with a milder chocolate flavor, while the Cheese Tart was more rounded and gentle. Personally, I preferred when the Cheese Tart had a stronger cheese flavor, almost bordering on savory. It's possible that my taste preferences have changed since then. Overall, it's still one of my favorite cafes and I left feeling satisfied.

This time I went to "Assemblage Kakimoto"! I arrived before 3pm, but many cakes were already sold out and the selection was quite limited. I bought a cheesecake, Mont Blanc, and two croissants for takeout! They were all incredibly delicious and unlike anything I've had before. Definitely worth a visit! Thank you for the meal!

I visited for lunch. I was able to enter smoothly. I ordered Mont Blanc and an apple juice. First of all, the appearance is beautiful. Honestly, just seeing it made the visit worthwhile. The taste was surprisingly delicious, with rich chestnut cream and a refreshing lemon scent, a combination I had never experienced before. The chocolate was also incredibly delicious. The balance of sweet chestnut cream and lemon acidity created a delicate and exquisite cake that truly impressed me. I am very happy to have been able to enjoy the highest quality cakes created by Chef Kakimoto, who has three faces as a pastry chef, chocolatier, and chef. Thank you for the meal.

Beautiful and delicious sweets are very popular! It has been selected as one of the top 100 stores for multiple years and as of August 2023, it has a rating of 3.88. Personally, I prefer bread over cakes and baked goods. Around 2-3 groups of customers were already there around 2 PM on a weekday, and more customers arrived afterwards. I was able to make my purchase in about 5 minutes. [What I bought] Eclair ¥700 Mille-feuille ¥750 Canele ¥280 Maple Croissant ¥330 Brioche Orange ¥380 Everything was delicious, but the best was the bread! The cakes were either too sweet or not sweet enough, and a small portion was satisfying. It didn't make me want to eat more. Also, the Canele didn't have a crispy texture. The shop was stylish and it was easy to understand why it's so popular. Thank you for the meal!

I asked for a cake without alcohol, and the three options were Mont Blanc, chocolate, and bread. I chose Mont Blanc, which was surprisingly alcohol-free! It cost 777 yen for takeout. There were other delicious cakes, chocolates, and bread available, and I promised to come back after giving birth. The shop recommended chocolate with celery and myoga. I also bought financiers, which cost around 300 yen each. The Mont Blanc had a generous layer of cream under the chestnut layer. There was a macaron-like layer at the bottom, and a slightly firmer macaron-like base below that. The cream layer was the main focus, coexisting with the chestnut layer, creating a smooth overall taste. It was moderately sweet, and the accompanying chocolate was delicious, making it a superb treat.

I visited the shop around 4:00 PM and most of the items in the showcase were already sold out, with only 3 types left - 5 Pistachio, 2 Chambignon, and 1 Eclair. All parfaits were also sold out. However, there was no wait for seating for dining in, and we were seated right away. The cake sponge was moist without an unpleasant texture, and the pistachio buttercream was rich with a natural sweetness. The custard cream had a smooth flavor, and the fresh acidity of the strawberries added a nice accent. I finished it in no time. The atmosphere in the shop was calm and had a relaxed Japanese-modern vibe. The staff were friendly, polite, and elegant. It was my second visit, and overall, the products, service, and atmosphere were excellent. I definitely want to visit again when I come to Kyoto, and next time, I want to come early to try the parfaits and seasonal cakes!

I waited for about 20 minutes, but since I had ordered in advance, the food was brought to me as soon as I sat down. There was a little bit of presentation, making it enjoyable both visually and in terms of taste. I ordered the Future Museum Ru Jardin and a Lemon Ginger Soda drink. The homemade ginger ale had a sharp ginger flavor that was refreshing, while the lemon ginger soda had a tangy lemon taste that cleansed the palate. Both drinks were very refreshing.

Chocolate, baked goods, and traditional Japanese sweets from this shop are all incredibly delicious. You can choose cakes at the entrance and enjoy them at the counter in the back. There are also desserts that can only be enjoyed at the back counter, and they are all beautifully presented. While everything is delicious, my favorite is the pound cake! It is truly revolutionary in its deliciousness. Even though I usually don't like pound cake, I love the one from this shop. The madeleines and dacquoise are also incredibly tasty. Whenever I come here, I end up spending over 10,000 yen on souvenirs. If you haven't been here before, you should definitely visit this famous shop!

Behold, this delicacy...! Leaves made of chocolate. The dew-covered leaves are depicted, looking just like the real thing. The fine lines of the Mont Blanc are equally delicate. Exquisite. And what's truly wonderful is that not only are they visually appealing, but they taste delicious as well. These cakes need no further words to describe them.

Is it complete with this dessert that I have never eaten before? The banana is light and easy to eat, the chocolate is thin and crispy with a refreshing texture of berries and citrus fruits. Dessert wine goes well with it too. It seems to be a rare item, so when it's described that way, you can't help but try it.

I arrived at the shop around 3 o'clock, and due to my lack of research beforehand, there were only four flavors left along with chocolate! I purchased the remaining four flavors one by one, each with a unique hidden accent flavor, and I enjoyed them all without getting tired of them until the end. If I have the chance to go to Kyoto again, I would like to try different flavors.

[Sweets +0.3] First stop on the Kyoto Western confectionery tour! Ranked 1st in Kyoto Western confectionery. Ordered Champaigne for 702 yen, Mont Blanc for 777 yen, and Eclair for 750 yen. The Champaigne... basically a cream puff? The custard inside is delicious. The Mont Blanc is a bit too sweet with the meringue inside being the accent. The Eclair is delicious.

I visited just before closing time on the weekend. There were only two types of cakes left, which indicates their popularity. I chose the Tart Fromage Vanille and enjoyed it at the hotel. It was a simple and well-balanced cake with a delicious flavor and sweetness, making it very easy to eat. I would like to try other cakes from this patisserie.

Kyoto Jingu Marutamachi, Sweets West Hyakumeiten, and Assemblage Kakimoto-san. They are well-known patisseries in Kyoto, especially for their chocolates. The traditional black-themed house with a modern touch gives a sense of sophistication. I tried the Chocolat 5-piece set. The flavors of fruits and vegetables were intriguing. When brought to room temperature, the aroma enhanced the deliciousness. It was a delightful experience. Thank you for the meal.

Kakimoto in Jingu Marutamachi, Kyoto is a cake shop that is highly rated on Tabelog with a rating of 3.90. I arrived 10 minutes before opening and there were already 5-6 groups waiting in line, so I decided to join the queue. Recently, their L'or Noir Chocolat has been featured on TV, which seems to have made the shop even busier. I purchased several types of baked goods and cakes, all of which had a sophisticated and elegant taste, although they were a bit pricey. While none of them were cakes that I felt I must have again, the L'or Noir Chocolat was quite intense and impressive. Although the Pearl Chocolat is only available for purchase online, if you're lucky, you might be able to buy it in-store. It had a deliciously melty chocolate flavor that paired well with coffee. I would recommend it to chocolate lovers. Ratings: Overall - 3.8, Taste - 3.5, Cost performance - 3.5, Customer service - 4, Atmosphere - 4.
