I visited around 12:00 pm. There was one person in the kitchen and one person at the reception, both of whom were Japanese. The compact restaurant was run by two people. A group of four local office workers came in. There were many set meals to choose from, but I ordered the mixed fry. It arrived in about 15 minutes. The fried horse mackerel, shrimp fry, and minced cutlet were large and came with tartar sauce, so I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Shinmachi Shokudou in Tabata and ordered the eel bowl, fried horse mackerel, and spring rolls. The staff recommended the eel bowl and fried horse mackerel, which I decided to try. The eel bowl was surprisingly large and delicious, with a nice texture and a good amount of fat. The fried horse mackerel was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I also ordered the spring rolls, which were filled with a generous amount of meat. Overall, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I would definitely come back again. I wonder if there is any connection between this restaurant and Sakura Shokudo in Nishi-Nippori, where the owner is also from Vietnam and serves Japanese food.

In the past, a meat shop was located in the place where a Vietnamese grocery store opened, and eventually half of the store was turned into a dining area. I arrived first during the lunch break, ahead of the second, third, and fourth customers who entered the store. The crowd after 12 o'clock was impressive! The menu included pho and banh mi, and Vietnamese customers seemed to be ordering pho. Other customers were ordering fried dishes, so the tonkatsu or fried items might be delicious. The shop was run by two people, and I could hear the sound of meat being pounded for the tonkatsu curry. The chef appeared to be Vietnamese, but I was curious to see how well they could make Japanese set meals. The tonkatsu curry arrived in about 10 minutes, served on a large plate with plenty of curry sauce poured over it. The pickles and radish seemed Japanese-style! The tonkatsu was large but slightly thin in thickness. The miso soup and salad were also included. When I tasted it, it had a homemade taste using commercial curry roux. However, the salty taste was strong, possibly due to a low water ratio or evaporation from cooking. The tonkatsu was crispy and well-drained, but the disappointing part was the difficulty in chewing through the tough sinewy part between the fatty and lean meat. The two female customers next to me ordered shrimp tempura, which stood out like a tower. If I have the chance to go again, I will aim for the impressive shrimp tempura.

- Date and Time of Visit: June 18, 2023, 12:10-12:40
- Number of People: 1
- Total Amount: 980 yen
- Ordered Dish: Katsu Curry
- Situation: 6 customers before, 5 customers after
I revisited the restaurant for Sunday lunch. The small interior was just right with a moderate number of customers during lunchtime. Despite being run by a single female staff member, she efficiently managed cooking, serving, and customer service. The Katsu Curry was ready in about 10 minutes. The salad with just cabbage could use more variety, but the miso soup that came with it and the generous portion of Katsu Curry provided a satisfying meal. The curry with simmered potatoes and carrots had a homemade taste to it. There was plenty of curry sauce, almost too much for the rice. Customers kept coming in without a break, indicating that this restaurant, which offers a rare Sunday lunch service in the area, is highly valued. It's great to see a new restaurant making a strong impression.

I visited the restaurant around 11 am on Sunday. It is a Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine restaurant run by Dan, a Vietnamese. The lunch set of Japanese food was recommended, but I was curious about pho and spring rolls, so I ordered them. The Vietnamese dishes were only available for individual orders, not as sets. The taste was even better than I imagined! I added some homemade garlic vinegar for flavor and finished it in no time (*^^*) It was addictive. Many customers were getting takeout, with banh mi being a popular choice, so I want to try it next time. I visited with my 0-year-old this time. The restaurant is not very big, so when I tried to fold the stroller upon entering, they kindly guided me in without folding it. However, they do not have kids' chairs. I would like to visit again during a quieter time when my child is a little older!

I visited a diner called "Dan Kitchen Shinmachi Shokudo" around 6 pm on a Saturday in May 2023. The diner is located about a 7-8 minute walk from Tabata Station and is run by a Vietnamese owner who offers a variety of Japanese, Western, and Vietnamese dishes on the menu. The small restaurant was empty when I arrived and I sat at a table for one, looking over the menu. I followed the owner's recommendation and ordered the "Miso Simmered Mackerel Set" for ¥870. The restaurant also sells Asian ingredients, so there was a hint of ethnic aroma in the air, which I found slightly distracting. After a 7-8 minute wait, my meal was served - a large piece of miso-simmered mackerel, pickled vegetables, rice, and miso soup. The mackerel, with just the right amount of fat, was delicious with the savory miso flavor. The miso soup, with fried tofu and seaweed, was slightly on the salty side and competed with the flavor of the mackerel. Nevertheless, it was a necessary addition to the set meal. The pickled vegetables had a Vietnamese touch with a balance of sourness and sweetness, which complemented the mackerel well. I quickly finished the rice and asked for a refill to enjoy with the mackerel. There was sesame salt on the table, which added a nice touch to the white rice. After finishing the meal, I felt satisfied with the well-balanced set meal at Dan Kitchen. The price was just right, but the only downside was the strong ethnic aroma in the restaurant. It would be better if the restaurant could create an atmosphere that is more familiar to Japanese customers. Overall, I had a good dining experience and would consider visiting again.

A renovated Asian mini-supermarket in Higashi-Tabata turned into a diner. The dining area is a bit small, with 3 customers before and 6 after me. I ordered the recommended dish, which was ready in about 10 minutes. The portion of the fried horse mackerel was a bit small, but the texture was fluffy and had a homemade taste. The tuna was decent. The miso soup had plenty of seaweed in it. Rice refills are available. Overall, I felt that it was worth the price and the quality of the set meal was quite good. They seem to be open until late, so I would like to try their Asian food in the future.

A Vietnamese couple runs an Asian grocery store and a Japanese restaurant with separate entrances, but connected inside. The husband handles customer service while the wife manages the kitchen. I ordered the Miso-Simmered Mackerel Set for ¥880, and was impressed by the presentation of a half mackerel on the plate. The mackerel was cooked perfectly, with the bones soft and tender, and the miso soup with fried tofu had a nostalgic homemade taste. I had assumed that the Japanese wife was the one cooking, but when I asked at the counter, I found out that it was actually the Vietnamese husband who had trained in Japan. They also offer Vietnamese dishes like Pho and Banh Mi.

In March 2023, for dinner, I went to a restaurant called "Dan Kitchen Shinmachi Shokudo" in Tabata. The restaurant is run by Vietnamese chefs who have been in Japan for over 10 years and have learned Japanese cuisine. The cozy restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including a delicious saba miso set meal, crispy fried horse mackerel, and tasty miso soup. I also had a second helping of rice with raw egg and natto. It was a unique dining experience with both Japanese and Vietnamese dishes on the menu.

Visited for lunch and ordered the recommended Mixed Fry Set for 1050 yen. The set included rice, miso soup, cabbage, fried horse mackerel, minced cutlet, shrimp fry, and tartar sauce. The rice and miso soup were delicious. I was a bit worried as it is originally a supermarket for foreigners, but there were no issues. The minced cutlet and fried horse mackerel were large and flavorful, with a crispy texture. The shrimp fry was surprisingly large and delicious. The cabbage was fresh and tasty, overall very satisfying. The only downside was that the inside of the restaurant was very cold. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.
