Today's weekday lunch was at "Kendon-ya," just a 1-minute walk from Fushimi Inari Station. After getting off the Keihan train, head in the opposite direction of Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. This was my first visit based on word of mouth, but I have been here a few times before. I arrived around 1:30 PM and the restaurant was almost full. The staff kindly asked me to wait for a few minutes. After a 4-5 minute wait, I was seated at a table. The atmosphere inside was lively with a mix of tourists and locals. The menu had English translations. I ordered the "Medium-sized Buri Set" for 940 yen. The set allows you to choose between a main dish of rice bowl or udon, and a smaller portion of the other. I chose udon as the main dish and a small portion of tamago-don. The udon arrived in about 5 minutes and was neatly arranged. The noodles had a nice chewy texture and were satisfying to eat. The broth was delicious, and even though it was hot outside, I opted for cold udon. The tamago-don was also well-cooked with a good balance of flavors. The set comes in small, medium, and large sizes for the same price. I thought I could have gone for the large size, but I was satisfied with the medium size as I was full until dinner time. Overall, it was a delicious meal and I would definitely visit again. I paid in cash. Thank you for the meal.

Kyoto Fushimi Inari Handmade Udon Kendonya C Set (Mini Katsudon & Cold Bukkake Udon) It's the season when your body craves cold noodles. I came to Kendonya for their cold udon, which is chewy and firm. Kendonya also serves delicious rice bowl dishes, so after some thought, I decided to go with the set including a mini katsudon. I feel like I've seen this set menu before, but it doesn't matter, it was delicious. By the way, Fushimi Inari was too crowded with tourists, so I skipped it. The taste is absolutely exquisite with no complaints!! I had the mountain vegetable udon, and the soba and broth were mixed with grated yam, providing a satisfying texture!! The atmosphere inside the restaurant was also very pleasant! On the other hand, I was surprised when I first saw the chairs outside during the waiting time. I had a great lunch experience!

Udon restaurant near Fushimi Inari Taisha. I visited seeking cold udon this time, as the warm udon was delicious last time. I arrived after 12 pm on a weekday and was seated immediately. However, the restaurant was almost full. I ordered the Cold Ume Oroshi Udon (1040 yen). Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The udon in the bowl varied in quality - some were good, some were hard, and some lacked elasticity. It seemed like they mixed udon cooked at different times. I have never experienced such a difference in udon quality in one bowl before. The broth was better for the warm udon. They provide paper napkins and chopsticks when serving. The staff were friendly, and the restaurant was clean. However, considering the quality, the price of over 1,000 yen is a bit high. I would like to try their warm udon for a better experience when the weather cools down.

The set meal was 1,040 yen (tax included) with fox topping for 180 yen (tax included). The udon noodles were soft and chewy, with a delicately sweet and subtle broth. The fox topping was simmered carefully to perfection. The oyakodon was generously soaked in broth without being too heavy, making it easy to eat as much as you want. It was truly delicious. Because the chef put a lot of effort into making this dish, I savored each bite slowly. This kind of taste is worth more than just a tourist spot price. I believe only udon restaurants in Kyoto can deliver such flavors.

On regular weekends, there are always long lines at this place, making it hard to get in. Luckily, I had a weekday off and rushed to visit. I was able to get in right away and ordered the egg and rice bowl with cold udon noodles. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed as my expectations were high.

Today for lunch, I felt like having curry udon, so I went to Kendon-ya in Fukakusa. I had tried going there twice before around 11:30 AM, but there was always a long line, so I had to give up. However, on my third attempt today, I arrived before 11:30 AM and was able to be seated right away. Their curry udon is consistently delicious. In addition, their chicken karaage is incredibly tasty. It has a crispy, spicy coating on the outside and is super delicious. I ate too much again today. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant has a no-smoking policy and a parking lot with three spaces, but I couldn't find it and parked at a coin parking lot for 200 yen for 40 minutes. When I arrived at the restaurant, there was a decent line of about 10 people. Behind me, there were also foreign tourists lining up. I came here because a follower from Kagawa said it was the most delicious udon in Japan. I usually prefer udon with a firm texture, unlike the softer udon often found in Kyoto. ☑️Large Set: Topped with seasoned beef, served with a side of beef and egg rice bowl set. The price is the same for small to large portions. The udon had a strong texture and was incredibly delicious, completely changing my perception of Kyoto udon. The broth was delicious, and I couldn't help but say "delicious" after every bite. The egg in the rice bowl was creamy with a good broth. ☑️Meat Topped Udon: Topped with a soft-boiled egg and generously topped with sweet and savory ginger-flavored pork. This dish also had a strong texture and was very delicious. I tried adding a bit of chili oil provided for flavor variation, but personally, I thought it was tastier as is. We shared the meat-topped udon, beef and egg rice bowl, and meat-topped udon and were full. The udon, highly praised by a follower who even went to Kagawa to buy wheat and make udon himself, was seriously delicious! It was truly the best udon I've ever had. My friend was also thrilled. Thank you for the recommendation! When we left the restaurant, there were about 20 people waiting outside.

Visited the popular udon restaurant "Kendon-ya" near Fushimi Inari. The cold grated udon was a bit firm but had a strong chewiness and was just the way I like it. The broth was rich but not too sweet. It didn't lose to the strong chewiness of the udon. Plenty of bonito flakes and condiments were a nice touch. It was even more delicious than expected. Fushimi Inari is like a light mountain climb, so be sure to refuel with this.

Tourists are coming back and it seems like Kendon-san is also in trouble. The store opens at 11 o'clock, so I arrived 30 minutes early and went to Lawson to buy beer. I waited at a distance and observed the situation. The staff opened the shutters and brought out chairs for people to line up. I sat on a chair 15 minutes before opening. Customers started lining up one after another. Today, I had the Bukkake Kitsune Udon for the first time in a while. The side dish was Egg Udon, and it seemed like the prices had gone up. I think this is the best udon restaurant in Japan. The udon here is warm and has a firm texture that you can't find anywhere else!

I always wanted to visit this restaurant, but it seems like I always passed by without noticing it. I wish the flavor of the rice bowl was a bit stronger, but the udon was delicious too. The portion size was good, and the lunch set was a great deal.

The restaurant has a counter and table seating. The broth is delicious, the udon noodles have a nice texture and are really tasty. The tempura was also large and delicious. The reviews are good, so there may be a wait, but the turnover is quick (if there are a lot of people, you may have to wait for a table). This is a place where you want to come just to eat udon.

For lunch today, I went to a kendo restaurant near Fushimi Inari. It's been a while since I had some udon with broth, so I decided to have that today. Personally, I prefer thick Sanuki udon with curry broth, so when I go to an udon restaurant, I tend to go for curry, but today I had ankake kitsune udon. The chewy udon noodles with the ankake broth were incredibly delicious. The oyakodon with runny eggs was also delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is a popular udon restaurant located in the deep grass. They only serve lunch and not dinner, so it gets crowded with people during lunchtime. The udon noodles have a nice chewy texture and are very satisfying. However, I felt that the shiso rice was a bit expensive at 290 yen considering the portion size.

Before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha, I ate Kitsune Udon. It was my first time experiencing this texture. It's chewy, but not soft. It's not as smooth as Sanuki Udon, but you can feel the chewiness even when you bite into it. When I shared my thoughts with the staff, they said they were glad I felt that way. The fried tofu was large and flavorful. The restaurant attracted a variety of customers, from locals to school trip students. They hope more people can experience this unique texture.

For lunch today, I went to a udon restaurant in Fukakusa. The udon here has thick noodles, but they are cooked perfectly and have a chewy texture, which was very delicious. The curry also had a rich curry broth, not too spicy like many others lately, but a classic broth curry that was incredibly tasty. I had it with some large, crispy and juicy fried chicken. This is my third time. I have not reviewed the oyster fry bowl. I entered the restaurant right at opening time on a weekday. Another person entered at the same time, and more people arrived within about 15 minutes, which was somewhat surprising. I ordered the medium-sized set for 890 yen, thinking that the regular items would be delicious. When it was served, the aroma of bonito broth tickled my nose. It increased my appetite, and the chewy texture of the thick noodles was satisfying. The egg bowl had just the right amount of sweetness and was delicious. It's a deliciousness that is hard to surpass.

This is a popular udon restaurant located on the Shidoni Street, west of Keihan Fushimi Inari. It's one of my favorite udon places, but before COVID, there used to be long lines of tourists. On the day I went, there were only about 3 groups waiting, so I decided to have lunch there. My husband had the kakiage curry for 990 yen, and I had the limited-time mini kaki fry rice bowl with kake udon for 1,020 yen. The broth was rich and delicious. It's a popular spot with locals and tourists alike, yet the prices are reasonable. I think it's a great restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine around 1 pm on a regular day and there were about 2 groups waiting. I got hungry before visiting the shrine, so I had some delicious udon noodles. The noodles were chewy and had a nice texture. I ordered curry udon, which had a good curry flavor and a thick consistency. It was served piping hot until the last bite. The restaurant had tables for 4 people, tables for 36 people, and a counter with 5 seats.

Today at the usual Kenndon-ya, I had egg drop udon and udon with egg and sauce. The udon with egg and sauce was kept hot and was very delicious. While cold udon can be tasty, many places serve lukewarm ones. However, Kenndon-ya is different and serves hearty and delicious hot udon.
