Monja Shinanoya Tsukishima / Monja-yaki, Okonomiyaki, Teppanyaki
A popular restaurant, "Shinanoya," which has been in business for over 20 years in Monja Street, Tsukishima. I visited their new location, which was relocated in December 2022. The place is about a 5-minute walk from Tsukishima Station, located along Monja Street with a curtain that says "Honki Dashi" as a landmark. It has been over 10 years since I last had monjayaki in Tsukishima! This restaurant is a long-established store that is particular about the broth and ingredients. There is no doubt that it is delicious! So we decided to order everything we wanted to eat, including the following:
- Mentaiko Mochi Cheese Monja
- Shinanoya-ten (Okonomiyaki)
- Beef Harami
- Scallop Butter
- Corn Butter
- Anko Cheese Roll
- Lemon Sour, Ramune Sour, etc.
After ordering through the QR code at the table, the Beef Harami and Scallop Butter arrived promptly. The Beef Harami was substantial, and the scallops were large and plump, both delicious! Next up was the Mentaiko Mochi Cheese Monja! A huge piece of mentaiko was on top! At this restaurant, you can either cook it yourself or ask the staff to do it for you. We decided to leave it to the professionals! We were impressed by the staff's skills, and a delicious monja was quickly cooked! Scoop it up with a spatula and take a bite. It's so delicious! You can instantly taste the dedication to the broth! The texture of the broth and mentaiko, combined with melted cheese and mochi, is fantastic! I could eat this forever (I want to eat it forever). Next was the Okonomiyaki! Shinanoya-ten contains fresh seafood such as shrimp and clams. We tried our best to cook it ourselves, making sure not to flatten it too much. I usually don't find okonomiyaki delicious, as many of them are heavy and fill up my stomach quickly, making me uncomfortable. However, this okonomiyaki at Shinanoya changed my perception! It was cooked thoroughly, yet fluffy and creamy! It was not heavy, and even after eating a lot, it went down easily! While enjoying the Corn Butter, we also had some drinks like Lemon Sour and Ramune Sour. Lastly, we ordered the Anko Cheese Roll. The staff cooked it for us. They made a large circle with the dough, filled it with anko and cheese, rolled it up, and cut it into easy-to-eat pieces. The melted cheese oozing out from the dough was irresistible! Delicious! From start to finish, it was a delightful experience of deliciousness! It's no wonder the restaurant has been around for so long. One great thing is that you can make reservations online, so you can get in without waiting in line! When I go to Tsukishima, I will definitely visit "Shinanoya" again! Thank you for the meal!
