It's been a while since I visited here... It's my first time coming at night.
◆First, "lightly grilled sesame tofu"... Is "grilled sesame tofu" popular lately? The sauce tasted a bit strong with soy sauce. It was just okay tasty.
◆Maru (softshell turtle) hot pot... There's a small amount of softshell turtle in it. It's good on a cold day.
◆Assorted sashimi... Sweet shrimp, Thai fish, fresh conger eel, pressed sushi of fish scraps. The head of the sweet shrimp was crispy and delicious. The fresh conger eel had no strong taste and was delicious.
◆Lily root steamed bun... The presentation is lovely. The lily root is fried and has a nice texture. However, the first three dishes, "sesame tofu," "maru hot pot," and "lily root steamed bun," all have the same sauce and taste. The person eating might get bored. It would have been nice to have something grilled or tempura at this point.
◆Seafood salad... In the center, there was a abalone about the size of a Hokkaido abalone. The meat was a bit tough. There was also prosciutto and a lot of watercress. The plate is big, so it's a bit hard to eat without more variety of vegetables. I left the watercress.
We were wondering what the main dish would be, and it seemed that this was the main dish >.<
◆Rice cooked in a hearth... This is their specialty. The freshly cooked rice is delicious. However, the miso soup is still not tasty. After this, we had dessert and coffee. The menu composition was strange. The first three dishes had almost the same taste, and in the past, we would have been served more varied small dishes, but not this time. I was disappointed because my previous impression was good. At 7500 yen, I don't think the value for money is good. The lunch menu seems more worthwhile.
2012 January revisit. It's been about a year and a half since I last visited... It seems to have become a more popular restaurant, as it was fully booked. I was seated at the counter, so it was fun to see the cooking process. There are lunch options like "Seasonal Assorted Meal 1890 yen," "Mini Kaiseki Lunch 2940 yen," and "Hodare 3675 yen." I went with the same "Hodare 3675 yen" as before. When making a reservation, I mentioned that I could not eat anything other than mackerel and beef, so my meal may be different from others.
◆4 appetizers... Simmered bonito greens, fish nanban-zuke, homemade sesame tofu, simmered radish and octopus. The simmered bonito greens and nanban-zuke are both tasty. It's nice that the flavors don't overlap.
◆Carrot and potato soup... A warm soup is nice on a cold day. It has a gentle flavor and is delicious.
◆Sea bream hot pot... There were two large sea bream bones. The seasoning is a bit sweet.
◆Blowfish tempura, cod milt with ponzu sauce, salad with prosciutto and raw ham Blowfish tempura... The seasoning is also a bit sweet, but the flavor is well infused. Cod milt... I think it's a good quality item.
◆Rice... The rice cooked in the hearth is delicious. You can have seconds. But it used to be served in a wooden box at first, which was a bit disappointing.
◆Sesame sauce over sea bream... Both the sea bream and sesame sauce are delicious. I eat them together with rice.
◆Slowly grilled mezasu... Mezasu goes well with rice.
◆Dessert... Cheesecake, creme brulee, yogurt. Sweet tooths might enjoy these.
◆Coffee... It's easy to drink. It's a demi size, but you can have a refill. *You can upgrade to a cappuccino for an additional 50 yen. It's a bit light. Overall, the seasoning is on the sweeter side, but the dishes are carefully prepared. For 3675 yen, I am satisfied.
