Chuka soba, ajitama gyoza teishoku ramen is totally my type. It's surprisingly not too rich and quite refreshing despite its appearance. The gyoza was cooked just right. I arrived right at 12 o'clock and there were plenty of seats available, but it quickly filled up afterwards. The parking lot is nearby, and if you park at the affiliated coin parking lot, you get a free hour with a coin given to you. Great experience.

I rode my bicycle to Ichijoji and went on a ramen tour. I ordered the Chashu ramen, which cost around 1000 yen. When it arrived, I was surprised to see it covered in Chashu slices. The Chashu was thin, but I liked it that way. I would like to visit a different restaurant next time.

It was a simple soy sauce ramen with pork back fat on top, served in a pork and chicken bone broth with soy sauce seasoning. I ordered extra noodles, which came out slightly firm and thick, making it a bit tough. The noodles didn't quite mix well with the soup, so it felt like eating the noodles and soup separately. The staff seemed to be mostly students and were quite chatty, which was a bit distracting.

I won a ramen ticket and headed to Ichijoji Station! I wanted to eat tsukemen because it was hot, so I wanted to go to Ichijoji Boogie-san, but it seems to be a popular shop and they close before 3 pm for lunch, which was disappointing. There was Chin'yusen nearby, so I ordered from the ramen ticket menu. The soup was light, the thin noodles were perfect, and it had a nostalgic taste that was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Non-smoking throughout, parking available, affiliated coin parking is Booboo Parking with a rating of 3.58 at the time of posting. This ramen shop in Ichijoji seems to be quite an old establishment. I remember coming here when I had just gotten my driver's license. - Chinese Ramen: Bowl filled with chashu slices, topped with a seasoned egg. The Chinese ramen here is simple but incredibly delicious. Thin noodles with plenty of pork fat. I felt the portion of noodles was a bit small. The chashu slices were rare and delicious. It's similar to Kairai-tei, but this place came first, so maybe Kairai-tei is the one that's unusual. I personally prefer the taste of Kairai. - Chinese Ramen: Topped with a seasoned egg, served with half-fried rice set. We ordered the half-fried rice to share between two people, so it turned into a half-half-fried rice. The fried rice tasted average. Please note that even if you park in the adjacent paid parking lot, if it's not affiliated, you won't receive a coin, so be careful and park at Booboo Parking further ahead. We ended up having to pay for parking.

I entered the restaurant around 4:00 PM. Unlike nearby ramen shops that close at this time, this place is open from 11:00 AM to midnight. I was grateful for that. I chose Set B with a small portion of chashu, 4 gyoza, and a medium-sized draft beer for 850 yen. After snacking on that, I ordered a bottle of beer for 580 yen and a small portion of chuka soba for 650 yen. Even though it was a small size, the chuka soba came with 2 pieces of chashu, green onions, seaweed, and menma, making it quite substantial. The soy sauce flavor had a unique sharpness, complemented by the richness of the pork fat. It was delicious. You can choose the firmness of the noodles, the amount of green onions, and the pork fat according to your preference. I was pleased that both the beer mug and glass were nice and cold. However, the amount of draft beer in a medium size was a bit small, so for a 60 yen difference, it's better to order the bottled beer. In total, it came to 2,080 yen. When I visited, there was only one staff member working, but they were attentive to the customers and provided friendly service. I would like to visit this restaurant again.

When I was a student, the first ramen I tried when I came to Kyoto from the countryside was from Chin-ya. It was a culture shock with its rich pork broth, thin noodles, and thinly sliced chashu. I initially thought that Kyoto ramen might not suit my taste, but that feeling was quickly dispelled. Chin-ya is a longstanding and popular ramen shop that I visited many times. Adding ramen oil halfway through to change the flavor is also a good idea.

Chenyu Ichijoji Honten Foodlog Rating: 3.58 "Chuka Soba with Ajitama (820 yen)" Points: - Established in 1950, a long-standing Kyoto ramen shop - Started from a food stall - Branches in Kawaramachi and Fushimi Momoyama - Registered as a Kyoto hometown tax return gift - Uses medium-thick straight noodles from Menya Teioku - Adjustments can be made for noodle firmness, amount of green onions, and amount of back fat - Offers discounts with app coupons and student discounts - All 3 shops are within walking distance from the station - Ichijoji Honten is open until 24:00 [Explanation/Impression] Chenyu, a representative of Kyoto ramen, has been carefully crafted for a long time. It's a wonderful old-fashioned ramen shop in every aspect, such as the ability to adjust to personal preferences, student discounts, and a convenient location within walking distance from the station. The ramen has a light taste with a good amount of back fat, which enhances the richness and umami. The combination of chicken broth, Kujo green onions, back fat, and Teioku noodles gives it a real "Kyoto" feel, which was truly amazing for someone like me who loves Kyoto ramen!! Thank you for the meal. [Business Hours] (Ichijoji) 11:00-24:00 (Kawaramachi Rokkaku) 11:00-20:00 (Fushimi Momoyama) 11:00-15:00 17:00-21:00

If you lived in Ichijoji in the 40s and 50s, when you hear the name "Chinyu," you would think of a small ramen shop along the Eizan railway tracks. I remember being taken there by my father as a child to eat soy sauce ramen. Now, the Chinyu of today has the mainstream ramen of the Heisei to Reiwa era. Well, that's good too. However, I also want to eat the nostalgic old-fashioned ramen that brings back memories, like Tentei.

I visited "Chin Yu Ichijo-ji Main Store" in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto for lunch. I have been here about 3-4 times before, but this is my first review. I arrived with my second son around 11:45 on a Sunday. We parked nearby using a partner coin parking, so we didn't have to pay for parking. Our total order this time was 1,300 yen, which included: - Small-sized Chinese soba x2. We both ordered the small size due to eating at other restaurants before, and they were very accommodating and friendly about it. Our dishes arrived in about 8-9 minutes. The small-sized Chinese soba had a chicken broth soy sauce base with pork fat, thin straight noodles, and toppings like thin slices of pork, seaweed, green onions, and bamboo shoots. While other chain stores may have popularized this type of Kyoto ramen, I personally find the one at Chin Yu to be even more delicious. Despite being quite full, I was impressed by how tasty the Chinese soba was and managed to finish it all. Overall, I think Chin Yu's Chinese soba is quite a treat.

By the way, there was a bike parking lot in front of the store. Now, I tried adding garlic to the fried rice for an extra ¥150, and it was delicious. The punch of garlic hits you, followed by the crispy texture, soy sauce-flavored char siu, rice, garlic, and oil. Hmm... Both the regular fried rice and the garlic fried rice go really well with this ramen. The garlic punch is quite strong, so women and those at work, please be careful.

I visited the restaurant just after it opened at 11 am. There were about 4 customers already there. I ordered the Chuka Soba for 750 yen with firm noodles and extra green onions. It arrived in about 3 minutes. It had a classic Kyoto-style pork bone soy sauce broth with a bit of back fat, which was just right in terms of flavor - not too strong or too light. The noodles were thin and straight, typical of Kyoto-style ramen, and perfectly cooked to my preference. The chashu was thinly sliced pork belly, also typical of Kyoto-style ramen. Overall, it was a classic Kyoto-style ramen experience.

When I visited Ichijoji, known as a fierce battleground for ramen in Kyoto, I chose this place because it was established in 1950 and is considered a long-established shop alongside Ichiran and Shinpukusaikan. The small size ramen, priced at 650 yen, is designed for those planning to eat more than one bowl. The soup is a classic chicken soy sauce broth, with a rich flavor enhanced by the back fat and a subtle sweetness. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles with a satisfying chewiness. The toppings include seaweed, green onions, and chashu, which are quite sufficient for the price. The claim of being rich in appearance but light in aftertaste holds true, making it a flavor that doesn't get boring. While there are many shops in Ichijoji, not all of them are as appealing as the so-called fierce battleground, so I highly recommend choosing a historic shop like this when you visit.

November 16th (Wednesday) Sunny The Ichijoji and Shugakuin areas are fierce battlegrounds for ramen in Kyoto. It takes over 30 minutes from Kyoto Station, but this time, I decided to go to the Kurama area for a autumn leaves trip, so I purchased a one-day unlimited ride ticket for the Eizan Electric Railway. There are several types of unlimited ride tickets available, and I chose the "Ramen Ticket." It costs 1700 yen. The regular one-day pass for the Eizan Electric Railway is usually 1200 yen, so it's a great deal to be able to eat ramen for an extra 500 yen. There are 9 participating stores and the ramen provided is also limited, but it's definitely worth it. I visited a place that opens at 11:00 am. I entered at 11:29 am. They have a system where the ramen is brought to you when you hand over the half-ticket of the free ride pass. I requested "extra green onions" (free) and they even have extra noodles available, but it took some time for the food to be served for a restaurant that offers that. The ramen arrived at 11:43 am. It looks like a tonkotsu-style with a lot of pork fat, but the soup is not too heavy. The green onions are probably Kujo green onions. They are crunchy and delicious. The low-water thin noodles are also to my liking. There was crushed garlic on the table, so I added it to the bowl for a different taste. Fresh garlic is the best. The chashu slices are probably from the thigh part? There were a few thinly sliced pieces in the bowl. By the way, the "Ramen with Flavored Egg" that was provided this time is normally 820 yen, so I saved about 300 yen. A young person sitting at the same table (it's a large table so it doesn't feel like sharing) ordered a "fried chicken set meal." It comes with several pieces of fried chicken and rice along with ramen for 980 yen, so it's understandable why it's a popular shop. *On the way from Ichijoji Station to here, I was rear-ended by an elderly man (around 70) on a bicycle. The moment the old man said "Oh..." I collided with him and fell on the spot. My phone that I was holding also flew off (I wasn't walking and using my phone). The old man (around 70) also fell with his bicycle, but without admitting his mistake, he said, "What are you looking at?" so I also responded. "You idiot, this is a crosswalk" (a small intersection without traffic lights). After that, I showered him with dirty words that I can't write here. It's ridiculous to rear-end someone and then say "What are you looking at?" If I wanted, I could have called the police, but I didn't want to waste time.

First stop on the Kyoto ramen journey is Chin'yuu in Ichijoji. I ordered the regular Chinese soba for 720 yen. This is my first time visiting this shop. At the entrance of the shop, it says "Established half a century ago, the origin of Kyoto ramen is chicken white broth." It seems like many ramen shops in Kyoto also serve fried chicken, but I decided to pass on it this time since I plan to visit another shop afterwards.

I explored Kyoto city on this day and visited this place in the early evening. When I looked at the menu, I found the Half Chan Set Meal, which includes both ramen and fried rice for less than 1000 yen, which is a great deal. I ordered the Half Chan Set Meal. The soup is a soy sauce-based chicken broth. It has a nice balance of chicken richness and a hint of soy sauce, making it very delicious. The noodles are slightly thin and straight, and they go well with the soup. When you dip the green onions in the soup, it adds another layer of flavor to the noodles. The thinly sliced chashu pork is flavorful and easy to eat. The fried rice is mixed with eggs and cooked perfectly, which I really enjoyed. Overall, it's a delicious ramen that is enjoyable to eat. Thank you for the meal.

Ramen Gekisenku, a popular ramen shop in Ichijoji, known for its energetic and powerful staff, has been a long-established shop for half a century. I visited during lunchtime and found that it was crowded with students and office workers, with tables set up facing each other, making it a bit difficult for women to dine alone. I tried the Han-chan set meal for 950 yen (add 100 yen for large ramen), which is a Kyoto-style ramen with a rich chicken white soy sauce base. It was different from my favorite Kaio-rya in terms of being rich and traditional, and I didn't find it particularly delicious, but it's a matter of personal preference. You can choose the firmness of the noodles, the amount of green onions, and the amount of back fat. However, they don't ask, so you have to mention it when you order. The fried rice was tasty with a strong flavor and excellent stir-frying. If you're planning a ramen tour in the competitive ramen district of Ichijoji, be sure to check out this place. There is a partnered parking lot about 30 meters from the shop, so you can also visit by car.

Onejoji has now become a fiercely competitive area for ramen, but in the past, there were only a few scattered shops. Even back then, this famous shop was working hard in the same location as it is now! They were also famous for their Chinese noodles, but their fried rice was also popular! I always used to order the set menu here.

If you park at the coin parking lot on the south side or another affiliated parking lot just a bit further south, you will receive a free hour of parking when you pay, making the parking fee unnecessary. There is also plenty of space if you park closer to the parking lot. When you enter, inform the staff of the number of people and sit at the designated table marked by a glass of water. Then, order from the menu by flagging down a staff member. You can choose the firmness of the noodles from five options (extra firm, very firm, firm, regular, soft) and the amount of green onions and back fat. The fried rice set meal (¥1,150) is more satisfying than half a portion of fried rice, so I ordered the regular amount of fried rice. You can also have garlic fried rice for an additional ¥100. The soup is made from chicken broth and soy sauce, and despite its appearance, it has a strong flavor but is light. The presence of back fat adds a mellow richness, and it's nice that it's not too salty. The chili pepper is just right. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles. I always order them firm, and the low hydration gives them a good firm texture that pairs well with the soup. The toppings include chashu, menma, seaweed, and green onions. You can also order extra green onions. The chashu is thin pork belly that is not greasy, which is appreciated. There are two substantial slices to savor. And the seaweed. The seaweed here is just delicious. The fried rice is always light and fluffy. It goes well with the ramen, especially with the egg and green onions. The ginger is also good. I don't know how many times I've been here, but thank you as always. Whether the curtain color changes from red to white, I hope this place continues for a long time. The joint promotion with Kanat or recently with Corneran. Along with the errands.

In the area near Ichijoji Temple, I had planned to have ramen today for lunch, but my plans got delayed and it was already past 2 PM. I was contemplating where to go when I saw Chin'yusai right in front of me. It had been over 25 years since I last visited, so I decided to go in for some classic Chinese soba. You can choose the firmness of the noodles, the amount of green onions, and the amount of back fat. This time, I went with firm noodles, extra green onions, and normal back fat. Over 30 years ago, when I was in charge of work in Kyoto, I diligently visited about 70% of the ramen shops in Kyoto city. At that time, the Ichijoji area was a fierce battleground for ramen in Kyoto, but now the ramen scene is even more lively and wonderful. As I took a bite of the Chinese soba, I was reminded of the taste of Chin'yusai and the classic Kyoto ramen from back then, and I enjoyed it very much.
