When eating sushi in areas like Shinjuku or Yotsuya on a holiday, the prices can be surprisingly different from weekdays. However, this place offers the same lunch menu on holidays as on weekdays, which is very fair. The Yachiyo set for 1,100 yen is satisfying for both the palate and the stomach. The chef (I think) is very friendly and pleasant. It's a standing sushi bar, so you eat quickly and leave quickly. It feels very Edo-style and authentic!

There were also some regular customers, making it easy to use for everyday dining. I would definitely visit again if I suddenly crave sushi.

The seaweed soup, conger eel, minced tuna with green onions, and scallops were all amazingly tasty. Plus, I got a complimentary drink to go with my meal. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great, making me want to come back again. I was fully satisfied for around 2000 yen per person.

The blue fish sushi, not just cut but also carefully prepared, especially the horse mackerel has a nicely aged flavor. The flounder sushi is beautifully presented, enjoyed with a sprinkle of salt! Even though it's a standing sushi bar, the taste is quite authentic and delicious. And of course, the prices are relatively wallet-friendly.

I decided to walk around Yotsuya Station to find a place for lunch. The popular Western-style restaurant had a long line, and I wasn't in the mood for an izakaya lunch. I almost headed to the famous jazz cafe, but it seemed a bit intimidating for a first-timer. After some hesitation, I ended up at this standing sushi restaurant. The interior was stylish, not what you would expect from a sushi place. It turns out it's a branch of Yachiyo Sushi in Yotsuya. I ordered the lunch set menu, which was like the middle option. The sushi was beautifully presented. The shad was particularly good, with a firm texture. It was delicious. The white fish was also excellent, probably because it's in season. Of course, the tuna was good too. I was impressed by the hot red miso soup I had after a long time. This is how an authentic sushi restaurant should be. The prices were a bit high for a standing sushi place, but I felt it was worth it. Well, within reason.

I passed by the standing sushi and bar restaurant near Yotsuya Station at the intersection, but I hesitated because the guy at the front had pink hair, which seemed out of place for a sushi restaurant. However, he was no longer there, so I decided to go in. The restaurant seemed to have only standing seats, and there were no other customers. I ordered the Yachiyo nigiri set for 990 yen, which came with a small cup and a tiny side dish. The nigiri pieces were on the larger side compared to what I'm used to. I paid with PayPay, and they also offer takeout.

I had some business in Yotsuya and stopped by the newly opened "Tachi-nigiri Sushi & BAR Sushidokoro Hachichiy" on my way back. It seems to be a new venture of Yachiyo Sushi, a sushi restaurant that has been in business for over 100 years in Yotsuya. The interior was very clean, and it looked like the chefs were preparing the sushi right in front of the counter. I had sashimi of bonito and medium fatty tuna, and enjoyed them with a beer. It was my first time drinking outside in a while, and it was really good after a day's work. The bonito sashimi was carefully sliced with a hidden knife, and it was delicious without any fishy smell. I also had more sashimi and nigiri with another round of beer. For around 3000 yen, including two beers and several pieces of sushi and sashimi, it was a great place to have a little luxury in a short amount of time. I will definitely stop by again when I'm in Yotsuya.

About a month ago, I visited this bright and clean restaurant with a nice sushi display case. They have a standing counter where you can enjoy a drink and recommended snacks. The pre-made feeling of the Eight Thousand Generations roll was satisfying, and the Eight Thousand Generations nigiri was filling. The sushi served one by one from the display case looked delicious, with various options like shellfish and tuna. It was not the usual sushi experience. I should have opted for the special sashimi platter instead. Price for Eight Thousand Generations nigiri: 990 yen, and for the Eight Thousand Generations sake: 935 yen. I took a break from my remote daily routine this month and went out for lunch for the first time in a while. I came across a new store on my usual route, which rarely sees new openings. I decided to drop by. I tried the ¥1380 nigiri set, which was better than I expected from a standing sushi bar. I enjoyed a few pieces of my favorite sushi and the quick service. I will definitely visit again.

I visited a new standing sushi restaurant at the Yotsuya-Mitsuke intersection on a Monday afternoon in September around 1:30 pm. The restaurant opened on September 22nd. While there are many high-end sushi restaurants in the Yotsuya Ichome area, this standing sushi restaurant may be the first of its kind. The storefront is decorated with orchids, giving off a new store vibe. The interior has a counter facing the kitchen and a counter along the wall, with seating for a little over 10 people. Today, I tried the "Super Tuna Special" for 1650 yen, along with a side of sea urchin for 340 yen. The set included tuna nigiri, akami, chu-toro, aburi toro, negi toro roll, tekka maki, and torotaku maki, served with miso soup. The sushi rice had a gentle vinegar flavor and was not too strong on wasabi. The tuna was fresh and satisfying in quantity. The sea urchin was delicious. The person who seemed to be the manager serving us was also nice. I had visited the main branch in Yotsuya Sanchome before and had a good impression of their customer service. This time, with the manager and a female staff member, the hospitality towards customers was pleasant. They also seemed to be offering takeout service, as they were actively engaging with customers who stopped by. Thank you for the meal.

20 seconds from Yotsuya Station, a standing sushi bar called "Tachi-nomi & bar" opened on September 22nd. It is likely a standing sushi version of the Yachiyo Sushi restaurant in Yotsuya Sanchome. I visited alone four days after the opening on September 26th. The place is open from 11:00 to around 21:00 without a break. However, when I passed by yesterday around 21:30, the shop seemed to still be open. I visited around 15:00. Set menus range from 1,650 to 990 yen, with individual items priced from 110 yen. I ordered the 990 yen Yachiyo nigiri, which was discounted to 880 yen that day. It included horse mackerel, sweet shrimp, negitoro, conger eel, salmon, mackerel, yellowtail, lean tuna, and tamagoyaki - quite a generous portion. I also ordered squid (110 yen) as an extra. The total came to 990 yen, which was very cheap. The regular price is 1,090 yen. The nigiri was a bit sloppy, but I was more in the mood for sashimi (without the rice) anyway. Overall, it was a good experience. Enjoyed the meal!

The interior of the shop was clean and well-maintained. The sushi chef was very attentive. It seemed like a place where regular customers often visit. They had about 20 types of sushi. The tuna was a bit watery and not very tasty. If you order the seasonal fish and shellfish (limited options), you might not be disappointed. Prices are based on each piece of sushi.

I pass by this sushi restaurant every day and I always feel like stopping by. It doesn't have a pretentious atmosphere, so I feel comfortable using it. I usually enjoy a cold beer or recommended sake, along with a few different types of sushi. Unlike omakase restaurants, this sushi restaurant allows you to choose what you like. I feel like it has the essence of a traditional sushi restaurant. I will continue to visit in the future.
