Even on a regular day, several people were waiting before the store opened. Although not as crowded as before, there was still a line forming quickly after opening. The menu offers cold soba noodles with options like 100% buckwheat, grated daikon radish, spicy grated daikon radish, and cold dipping sauce. The soba noodles are thinly cut with clean edges and no visible irregularities. The flavor and aroma of the soba noodles are rich. The condiments provided are green onions and wasabi, with the wasabi having a strong and pleasant fragrance. The spicy dipping sauce is well-made. The soba broth is thick and flavorful. A note about soba cutting and wasabi is posted on the wall, suggesting that the owner must really love soba noodles. Even though they are all using the same local buckwheat, some restaurants like this one use high-quality buckwheat, while others do not.

This place serves delicious 100% buckwheat soba noodles. The soba noodles here are incredibly tasty, with a thin texture that shows their attention to detail. I ordered the chilled dipping soba and the "high collar" rice. The soba noodles were so delicious that I finished them in no time. The high collar rice is a dish of seasoned rice topped with fried egg, green onions, and soba dipping sauce. You might be worried about the rice becoming too soggy with the sauce, but the perfect amount of sauce is added, making it delicious. Definitely worth a try! ✨

It takes an hour to get to Uji, but I couldn't resist the temptation of soba and appetizers (laughs). It's hot, so I started with a bottle of Sapporo Black! I also ordered a glass of Junmai Ginjo sake, and then added a glass of Isomansai as well. For appetizers, I got miso-marinated tofu, miso-marinated cream cheese, and soba miso-marinated cream cheese. Of course, I couldn't resist ordering additional items! Finally, I finished off with cold soba all at once (laughs).

Located near Kyoto and Keihan Uji Station, this soba restaurant is always crowded due to its popularity as a tourist spot. However, the long line is worth it as the soba here is incredibly delicious! The 100% buckwheat soba has a unique taste that is easy to enjoy without any strong flavor. The soba miso is also available and goes well with beer. The staff is friendly and overall, it's a satisfying experience!

Today, aiming for the quiet period after Golden Week, three men visited the World Heritage site of Byodoin Temple and Ujigami Shrine in Uji. First, they stopped by the popular restaurant "Shubaku" for a light meal. They arrived around 11:10 and found about 15 people waiting ahead of them. By 11:30, they managed to get inside and ordered the chilled soba noodles for 1,250 yen with extra noodles for 490 yen. The owner himself prepared the food, so they waited for about 30 minutes before the soba noodles arrived. The noodles were surprisingly thin and made of 100% buckwheat, providing a good texture and refreshing taste. The soba broth was slightly thick. The portion was unexpectedly generous, making the extra noodles unnecessary. Overall, they enjoyed the meal.

Visited on a Tuesday during Golden Week. There was a line of nearly 20 people at 11:15. Couldn't get in on the first round, so we put our names on the list and dispersed. Finally got in at 11:50. Passed the time by visiting the nearby World Heritage Site, Uji Shrine. Ordered the spicy daikon radish soba and the spicy rice, both were incredibly delicious without question. The soba broth was also excellent. This place is definitely the go-to for lunch during Uji sightseeing! ☺

Shubaku, a soba restaurant near Uji Shrine in Kyoto. Upon arrival, there were a few people waiting in line. The wait time was 45 minutes. While waiting, I debated between the "Spicy Daikon Oroshi" or the "Kyoto Duck Soba." The famous "Haikara Gohan" was a definite choice. Before the soba arrived, I enjoyed some "Tai Watashi Shio-Kara" with a drink. So, that was also a definite choice. Finally, I entered the restaurant!! Due to the limited availability, I decided on the "Kyoto Duck Soba." As the "Haikara Gohan" was sold out, I went for the large portion of soba. I also ordered the "Tai Watashi Shio-Kara" and a non-alcoholic beer. A fantastic lineup!! (I wanted to drink sake though) The "Tai Watashi Shio-Kara" was delicious and paired well with the non-alcoholic beer. When the duck soba arrived, it was perfect timing. The soba itself was made from 100% buckwheat flour and was delicious without being too chewy. The duck broth was flavorful with a strong duck essence. After finishing the meal, I poured the soba broth into the duck broth, which made it even more delicious!! I enjoyed every bite until the end. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The soba here is quite delicious! The sake is also tasty, and there are plenty of appetizers that go well with it, making it a great place to enjoy Japanese sake. This time, I had one serving of the limited edition Sakamidouji and one serving of Isojiman all to myself (laughs). The appetizers included yama-uni tofu and miso-marinated cream cheese! The soba alone is delicious too! However, I wish I could enjoy the sake and appetizers slowly, but it's a popular place so you can't stay for too long, which is a shame. There are already customers waiting before the opening at 11 am, so it's best to come early or you might end up waiting for a long time!

I arrived before the opening on Saturday around 11 am, but there was already a line. I had to wait for over 30 minutes before being seated, but it was worth the wait because the soba was very delicious. I ordered the winter limited duck soup soba for 1700 yen. The soba and duck soup were exquisite.

I wanted to visit this restaurant because of the good reviews. The parking lot is a bit far, but there were spaces available when I arrived slightly after opening time. I was seated right away without having to wait in line, maybe because it was a weekday. I tried the zaru soba. The broth was not to my liking and the soba noodles were thin. I couldn't taste the flavor of the soba. This restaurant was not what I expected based on the good reviews. I probably won't go back.

【Taste】 - The 100% buckwheat soba has a strong flavor and tastes delicious even when eaten on its own. - The chopstick sleeve provides advice on how to eat soba. - The wasabi has a freshly grated aroma. - The strong soba broth makes the dipping sauce delicious all the way to the end. - Handwritten pouches explaining the shop's dedication allow for a deeper appreciation. 【Atmosphere】 - Stylish exterior (see photo). - The noodle-making room visible, allowing for contemplation about the soba. - Thoughtful touches like notes explaining the tourist spots add to the good atmosphere. 【Cost Performance】 - It's not cheap but worth paying for, and I think you will be satisfied. 【Location】 - The best location for visiting Uji.

I planned to arrive before the 5th opening, but due to a JR train accident, there was a big confusion and I ended up waiting for about 30 minutes. I started with some Japanese sake and appetizers, and finished with zaru soba. Since it was new soba, it was very fragrant and delicious with salt at first.

I am currently challenging the mystery of the Keihan railway. I happened to pass by a restaurant at lunchtime, and at 11:30 am there was already a long line. I wondered if it was delicious, so I wrote down the name and went around to various places before returning. By 12:30 pm, I still hadn't been called. I finally got in at 1:00 pm, it is quite a popular restaurant. Here they serve 100% buckwheat soba, so first I enjoyed the aroma. Hmm? I could faintly sense it, but I didn't feel a strong aroma. It was delicious when dipped in the noodle soup. I chose the spicy daikon soba. Adding daikon made it even more refreshing. The thin noodles were delicious. I thought maybe the soba flour varies from day to day, so it might taste different with a different flour. If it's not crowded, I would like to come back again soon. My partner rated it 3.0 stars.

I came to Uji to visit the "Shojuin" wind chime festival, but I found out that the bus to get near "Shojuin" only runs on weekends. I changed my plans and decided to visit the World Heritage sites "Byodoin Temple" and "Ujigami Shrine" instead. For lunch, I checked "Tabelog" and chose "Shubaku." The restaurant is located by the Uji River. There were a few groups waiting outside the restaurant. I assumed that a soba restaurant would have quick turnover, but I ended up waiting for about an hour in the humid mid-July heat. While waiting, I decided what to order from the menu. Finally, I was able to enter the restaurant. The female staff was polite and kind. I ordered the "Spicy Daikon Oroshi Soba - Large." There was no price listed for the large size. The soba was thin and short, made of 100% buckwheat. Despite being 100% buckwheat, it wasn't dry at all. As soon as the dish arrived, the female staff told me to eat quickly because the noodles would get soggy. The finely grated daikon radish with a hint of spiciness added a refreshing touch. The soba was fragrant and well-prepared. I was expecting it to be as spicy as "Echizen Soba," but it was not very spicy and a bit underwhelming. The soba broth was thick and went perfectly with the noodles. The "Spicy Daikon Oroshi Soba - Large" cost 1,100 yen plus 450 yen for the large size.

After finishing repairs at Byodoin Temple, I visited this restaurant where you can eat Jyuuwari Soba after crossing the Uji River. I arrived around 12:30 and wrote my name down as the 6th group in line. I waited for about 30 minutes outside and inside before finally being seated. The recommended dish of the day was "Spicy Daikon Oroshi Soba," but I wanted to eat it with wasabi so I ordered the "Zaru" and "Kakikori Gohan." The Zaru Soba looked small at first, but there was actually a good amount. The noodles were very thin and had a nice edge to them. The flavor of the soba was solid, and the dipping sauce had a refreshing taste that complemented the soba well. The Kakikori Gohan was also delicious, but I think just ordering a large portion of soba would have been enough because the quality was so high. There were a lot of people lingering and chatting after finishing their meal, which was a bit annoying, but I guess that's to be expected at a tourist spot. I quickly finished eating and headed to the nearby Genji Museum. It was a very tasty meal.

This is my fourth visit to this restaurant! I arrived a little after 11 am this time, even though the opening time is 11:30 am, there were already many people lining up! They opened a bit early around 11 am, but I just missed getting in and had to wait a bit (lol). The alcohol and dishes were delicious as always! This time, I had cream cheese miso-marinated tofu, miso-marinated sea urchin tofu, along with draft beer, small sake "Kikuzui," and "Isonoman" in 1 cup each. I also had zaru soba. I forgot to take a picture of the most important part, the soba (lol).

The soba noodles here were of a high level of quality. I chose this restaurant while on a trip to Kyoto, hoping to enjoy some delicious soba noodles. I have never had soba noodles that were more delicious than the ones here. I highly recommend visiting this place when you are traveling.

My wife found this place online and wanted to visit, so we went around Uji for a stroll and arrived at 11:00. There was only one person ahead of us, and it was still early, so we decided to take a break at a nearby shop. When we returned around 11:20, there were about 8 people ahead of us. I checked the seating capacity on Tabelog and it seemed like we could still make it, so we decided to wait in line. The restaurant opened at 11:30, and we were the last group to enter. We ordered - I had the winter limited edition Kyoto duck soup soba, my wife had the spicy miso soba with watercress and fried tofu, and my daughter had the miso soba with watercress and fried tofu. We also ordered the cream cheese miso pickles at my wife's request. The cream cheese miso pickles arrived first, but the smell was too strong for me, so I passed it to my wife who enjoyed it. It had a unique fermented smell. Finally, the soba arrived. It was my first time trying 100% buckwheat soba, and I found it to be a bit thin. The dipping broth had a good duck flavor, and the green onions were fresh. The duck meat was thick and tasty. However, I felt like something was missing in the soba itself. Maybe because it didn't have the added yamaimo that I prefer in soba. I also tried my wife's spicy miso soba, which was delicious but not outstanding. I'll have to ask my soba expert colleague for his opinion next time. Overall, it was a decent meal.
