Ramen shop located near Gion and Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto. It is tucked away in a narrow alley. Arrived at 11:08 AM. There were 19 people waiting in line. It's incredibly popular. While waiting in line, a staff member took our order. There seemed to be many tourists from overseas. At 11:35 AM, the first round of customers finally left. Entered the shop at 12:38 PM. Phew, I'm tired. The shop has 8 counter seats and 4 staff members. Water was served in a blue glass bottle. I ordered the Ramen for 1080 yen. The soup was clear with a slight cloudiness. When I tried it, it was rich and delicious. The noodles were medium thick with a gentle wheat fragrance. The duck chashu came with 2 slices, and I chose the loin. Each bite was full of flavor. There were 2 large wood ear mushrooms with a chewy texture. The plate was decorated with grapefruit pepper and flower petals. Mixing in the pepper, it had a strong fragrance and a numbing sensation. The presentation was like a French dish, beautiful and incredibly delicious. The bowl was shaped like an upside-down straw hat, so finishing the soup was a challenge. The tsukemen ordered by other customers looked even more like a French dish.

Ramen shop located in the alley of Gion. I visited during my business trip in Kyoto as it had high ratings on Tabelog. It was a bit hard to find as it was tucked away in between buildings. I arrived around 2 pm and there were about 10 people in line. There were also many foreign customers. Before entering the shop, a staff member brought a menu with only emoji symbols, which was a bit surprising as I had never seen that before. The staff explained the menu and recommended the special dipping noodles with berry sauce and XL noodles (1790 yen + 250 yen = 2040 yen). After a 5-minute wait, I was seated and served. The presentation was very nice. The staff explained the dipping noodles (source of wheat and ingredients) and I started eating. The taste was a bit flat, lacking the flavor of wheat or duck. Maybe my taste buds are not refined enough to appreciate the subtle flavors? The duck meat itself was very good (2 breast pieces, 3 thigh pieces) and the topping of wood ear mushrooms was thick and had a good texture, but the noodles and dipping sauce didn't quite match, giving a disjointed feeling. After finishing, I also tried the soup broth, which was delicious on its own. Honestly, I think I'm done with dipping noodles, I'd like to try the duck ramen next time to make a judgement. Thank you for the meal.

The ramen that came out was very stylish and had a focus on quality ingredients. The deliciousness spread in my mouth from the first sip of the soup, and when I added grapefruit sansho, the umami increased even more, making it a perfect match. The duck also had a strong sweetness and elasticity, and I was impressed by its deliciousness. I was extremely happy with the taste beyond my expectations. Duck Ramen ¥1,080 A hidden duck ramen specialty shop in the back alleys of Gion. You can enjoy duck ramen created by a former French chef in a cozy restaurant-like setting. The menu was all in emojis, but the staff kindly explained everything. The soup, extracted using a siphon, with fragrant whole wheat noodles, and two tender slices of duck meat. You can choose between breast or thigh meat, and I chose the breast. The dish was beautifully garnished with refreshing grapefruit sansho and edible flowers around the edge of the plate, making it visually stunning. Aside from the delicious ramen itself, I was particularly impressed by the tenderness and juiciness of the duck meat. It was so delicious - thank you for the wonderful meal!

I received the dish! The scent of sansho pepper around the plate was too strong, making it difficult to enjoy just the ramen, but the taste was very good! By the time I left, there was a line of over 10 people, so I recommend going before they open. After the Bon Festival, I arrived at the shop around 11:30 on Friday. Since it's really in an alley, I briefly thought, "Is there really a shop in a place like this...?" It seems that a sister shop specializing in duck hitsumabushi has opened nearby! There were already about 6 people waiting. I waited for about 40 minutes. I decided on the menu while waiting outside. The main options were ramen or tsukemen, and you could add extra meat, seasoned egg, and wood ear mushrooms, or even add truffles. The flavor was a refreshing bonito-based broth. The noodles were chewy and had a good texture. The duck chashu was particularly delicious ✨️ This time I had thigh meat. It had a texture closer to chicken than pork. The sweet and savory seasoning combined with the duck's umami was irresistible. It was really delicious! Next time, I want to try it with extra meat and maybe even the duck rice.

Based on a friend's recommendation, I went to a ramen shop after a long time. I was really looking forward to trying the duck meat, which is famous in Kyoto. The location of the shop was a bit hard to find, but luckily there was no long line so we could get in easily. The interior of the shop was surprisingly clean and the combination of cherries and duck was really good.

This shop is located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. It is on a narrow alleyway opposite Yasaka Shrine. The alley is so narrow that passing people have to be careful. It feels like a ramen shop shouldn't be on this alley, but I headed towards the entrance. Duck tsukemen with mandarin orange sauce and duck rice. The stylish blue water bottle caught my eye. The glass is also blue. The food was served in about 10 minutes. There was an explanation of the dishes. They use duck directly from a chicken farm. The noodles look like soba, but they are made of rye. I felt like the soup was lacking a bit of punch. It tastes delicious and has a French elegance, but I couldn't quite grasp the direction of the soup. I couldn't tell if it was duck soup with soy sauce, duck soup with salt, or what it was supposed to taste like. But, of course, it's delicious! The duck rice is made with duck broth. There was no explanation from the staff, but the egg yolk is rich. As you can see in the photo, it's a clear orange color. The staff recommended eating half of the duck rice as it is, and the other half with the soup, but I thought it tasted better as it is. The rice is slightly firm, so adding the soup makes it too watery, and I felt it was tastier as it is. Also, because the yolk is rich, diluting it with the soup would be a waste.

The interior had a chic and dimly lit atmosphere, perfect for those looking to enjoy stylish ramen. I ordered the most popular item, duck ramen. The presentation was exquisite, resembling something you might find in a French restaurant. The soup was delicate and best enjoyed slowly, unlike typical ramen. My favorite part was the noodles, which were chewy and the most delicious I've had. While it didn't quite hit the spot for me, I believe ramen lovers will definitely enjoy it. Thank you for the meal.

Since the menu only had emojis, the staff kindly explained it to me. I decided to try the Duck Ramen and Duck Orange Tsukemen this time, and I will review the "Duck Ramen." - Soup: The soup is made from duck broth combined with kelp, seasoned with white soy sauce to give it a Japanese-style clear broth. The bowl was sprinkled with grapefruit sansho powder, which you can gradually mix into the soup to enjoy different flavors. The elegant duck flavor and umami, along with the sophistication of the white soy sauce, made the dining experience even more refined. Mixing in the grapefruit sansho added a refreshing touch to the overall soup. - Noodles: The noodles are thin straight noodles made from a blend of Canadian rye flour. They have a firm texture and a delicious wheat flavor when chewed, making them enjoyable to slurp. - Char siu: The duck loin and thigh char siu were from Kishu duck raised in Wakayama Prefecture. I arrived just in time at 11 o'clock, and only had to wait for a few groups. It was my first time, so I had trouble choosing from the menu, but I chose the mandarin duck dipping noodles. The sauce foam goes really well with it. Both the duck breast and thigh chashu are delicious, so I recommend trying them mixed together. Personally, I liked that the noodles had a strong flavor on their own, but when dipped, the soup felt a bit weak. Maybe thin noodles would allow you to fully taste the duck broth. However, overall it was very delicious, so I would definitely like to visit again.

I quickly left the first place and found this ramen shop through a search. The location of the shop was hard to find, with the entrance located in a very dark space between buildings. There were about two groups ahead of me, but I entered soon after. The menu was stylish but very hard to understand. The highlight was the duck ramen, with a rich flavor of duck extract brewed with a siphon. It's a taste that some people may like.

I always wanted to try the duck soup ramen, but when I arrived, I couldn't get the previous tsukemen out of my head, so I ended up ordering the same thing again. (laughs) However, this time I ordered the ramen in a small size without adding duck meat, and I also ordered the duck rice. And let me tell you - the rice was delicious!! It wasn't just plain white rice, it was cooked with some kind of dashi broth, giving it a gentle aroma and flavor. The duck meat was still rare, just like in the tsukemen, but the finishing seemed slightly different. The salad had rocket and watercress, or maybe Kyoto vegetables. The dipping sauce was turned into a soup and served as the main dish, and it was quite satisfying. It went beyond just being delicious, it was a truly satisfying dish in many ways! As for the tsukemen, it was the same as last time but in a small size, so I got a seasoned egg instead. The rich and dense quality of the broth was truly impressive. The service was attentive and relaxed, the staff were stylishly dressed, and the atmosphere was comfortable and satisfying. It was a truly impressive restaurant. Surprisingly, when I arrived around 5 o'clock, there was no line and only one other customer inside. It was a perfect situation to enjoy the meal by myself. It seems that both popular restaurants are in a similar situation. Everyone wants to avoid the crowds and go when it's less busy, so popular restaurants are often most crowded around lunchtime. It's best to go early!

This is a spin-off of Menroku in Hirakata. It caught my attention because it was located in Gion! The duck ramen was ordered, with juicy duck breast. The rye noodles were very light and had a strong soba flavor. Honestly, the soup was too light, maybe tailored for foreigners. But the duck meat was delicious! Thank you for the meal~

Meneru is a second form store of Menro, a popular ramen shop that uses duck, quietly located in a building in the valley of Gion, Kyoto. On weekends, there seems to be quite a long line of inbound tourists and couples. The menu is not in text, but in emojis. When you visit for the first time, they will explain all the menu items, so it takes quite a bit of time haha. Now, as for the taste of the ramen itself, the broth, duck meat, and noodles all have a gentle and elegant flavor. It feels like eating French-style ramen.

Ordered ramen M special with 2 chicken breast and 3 thigh meat. The soup had a rich flavor, with a hint of shiitake mushroom taste and aroma. The duck meat was said to be from a farm in Wakayama. The chicken breast had a texture similar to chicken ham, while the thigh meat was tender and chewy, both seasoned with a strong salty flavor. The place is hard to find and you have to wait in a dimly lit alley. It's confusing because people come from both directions. After waiting for about an hour, we were finally shown to our seats. The shop only has a counter, but the interior is stylish and has a nice atmosphere. I topped my dish with truffles, but there was no aroma and I couldn't feel the appeal of the topping. The taste was also mediocre, so I don't think I'll be going back next time.
