On March 6th (Monday), I went to Kyoto for the first time in a while! I visited various places throughout the day, and the final destination was a restaurant renovated from an old folk house. This restaurant, which has branches in Kichijoji and Shibuya in Tokyo, opened its Kyoto branch in October last year! [Ground Meat and Rice] At this restaurant, you cannot make reservations by phone! It is a system where you write down your information and reserve a time at the restaurant on the day of your visit. The lunch was already fully booked on this day, so we could only make a reservation for dinner. Upon entering, we purchased food tickets. There is only one menu item available. ■ Ground Meat and Rice Set Meal ¥1600 The set meal includes: ■ Three 90g hamburgers (additional one for ¥450) ■ Freshly cooked rice ■ Miso soup for free refills of rice, and one free raw egg. ・Salad, drinks, etc. can also be purchased with food tickets. It is not a teppanyaki style, but a barbecue style. There is a lively atmosphere at the counter seats where you can grill the hamburgers on the stove in front of you. I sat at a seat right in front of the stove. I had been wanting to visit this place ever since I saw it on TV, so it was a good timing to come. I made a reservation for the evening session starting at 5:00, at 5:10! Seats were gradually filling up in order. In the middle of the counter seats was a pot of freshly cooked rice. When about 8 people had gathered, the staff gave a detailed explanation. Cutlery and detailed instructions were in the drawer! Each person at the counter seat had condiments. ・Soy sauce ・Green pepper salt lemon ・Green pepper chili oil pickles ・Shichimi chili pepper ・Jaomar ・Garlic sprinkle On the left, ・Pickled cabbage ・Eating soy sauce The first hamburger appeared on the grill in front of me. The first one was a well-seasoned hamburger that went well with the rice. The freshly cooked rice was delicious. (Made with Koshihikari rice from Okayama). The miso soup was normal. The pickled cabbage was also delicious, so I quickly had a refill (^_^) When I finished the first one, grated radish and ponzu were served. The second hamburger appeared! You can always eat the hot and freshly grilled hamburgers. The cross-section of the hamburger was meaty. I had the second one with grated radish and ponzu for a light taste. The last one, a total of 270g!! It was a bit too much for us, right? I changed the taste with condiments for the last one. (The green pepper salt lemon was delicious) One free raw egg per person. I finished with egg over rice (I had 3 and a half bowls of rice). The young staff members were working efficiently and provided attentive service. The salad is not included but the pickled cabbage is all-you-can-eat. With this volume (270g), ¥1600 is cheap! The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, but the nostalgic Showa era songs are played loudly. It's a bit noisy... ((+_+)) (I filmed a video but couldn't post it due to copyright reasons!) It's not an atmosphere where you can leisurely enjoy a meal in Kyoto. The interior is filled with young people, and there were a few people who added extra meat! We were the only middle-aged group. However, it was quite a new type of restaurant, and we enjoyed it in its own way.

We decided to go to the restaurant after visiting the Louvre Museum for lunch on a holiday with my family. I did some research on Tabelog and thanks to the advice from Kopen-san, we were able to make a smooth reservation for 9 a.m. Thank you very much! The hamburger was juicy, meaty, and deliciously char-grilled. There were various options for changing the taste, and we ended up eating too much. My son, who has a big appetite, had 6 refills and was very satisfied. If I had to be picky, my wife mentioned that she would have liked some shredded cabbage. The taste and portion size for the price in Gion are exceptional! It's so enjoyable, so be sure to give it a try! But make sure to make a reservation in advance!

I arrived a little after 9 o'clock, requested the last lunch service at 2:25 PM, and received a numbered ticket. I bought some soybeans during the break at the theater and watched "New Water Margin" at the Minami-za Theater from 11 AM. After the performance, I headed straight to the restaurant! (It was convenient being close to the theater) When I arrived, there was a sign saying "All seats for the day are fully booked," and as other customers left disappointed, I handed in my ticket and entered the restaurant without waiting. I bought "Minced meat and rice" and a bottle of beer from the vending machine, and then sat down. The staff explained how to eat the meal. Water was self-service, and I was served rice and miso soup (both from Kochi Prefecture that day). Finally, I met the minced meat, and was told to try the first one without any additional seasoning. It was delicious! The perfect balance of flavors, and the rice was also delicious with a great texture and sweetness. For the second one, I tried it with grated daikon radish and ponzu sauce. I ended up having seconds of rice and made my favorite TKG (Tamago Kake Gohan - raw egg over rice)! I enjoyed the third minced meat without any seasoning because the plain flavor was just too delicious. It was an entertaining experience that stimulated all five senses! I now understand why it's so popular. There were a lot of foreigners there too! Thank you for the delicious meal!

On the second day of my return to Kyoto, my mother, wife, and I went to "Ground Meat and Rice Kyoto," which opened just last year. We have been to the ones in Kichijoji and Shibuya before, but this one, converted from a Kyoto-style old house, has a very charming atmosphere. We were lucky to get in at the 11:00 am opening time slot, and each ordered the "Ground Meat and Rice (set)" and the "Napa Cabbage Kimchi." It was delicious as always! You can add various condiments and eggs to enhance the flavor, but I particularly like it as it is. My 65-year-old mother also finished her meal happily. The staff's care and service were attentive, and I can see why this place is so popular. It was a great way to show filial piety to my family.

It was really delicious! I was impressed by various aspects of the restaurant. First, they distribute tickets from 9 am on Sundays, and there were over 30 people in line just before 9 am. However, one staff member efficiently managed the line. Then, we returned a little before our reservation time and were seated in the restaurant with hardly any wait. The ticket instructions and explanations after being seated were clear and polite. The Japanese pop music playing in the restaurant was nostalgic, ranging from the 70s to the 90s. And finally, the star of the show, the hamburger, arrived. The ground meat was delicious! It was more like tasty ground meat than a hamburger. It had no smell or greasiness at all. I ate it on rice, and the rice soaked up the meat juices, making it even more delicious. I finally understood the name of the restaurant. We also had grated daikon radish as a side dish and finished with rice topped with an egg. The combination of rice cooked in a pot and ground meat was very refreshing. The hamburger was well-seasoned, so even though there were three types of delicious-looking salt on the table, we didn't need them. I wanted to have a second helping on rice, but I thought it might be too much, so I refrained. Even with two servings of rice, I left the restaurant feeling very satisfied, with a full and happy stomach. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

The fact that I could have up to 3 bowls of rice and a raw egg for free allowed me to enjoy various combinations, making it a great experience! The staff's customer service was fantastic, and they even checked in on us when it was time for a rice refill, allowing us to leisurely enjoy our meal (^^)

The place is smoky and hot. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is a bit uncomfortable. There are staff members who seem happy and cheerful, while others look grumpy. I wonder why. The hamburgers come in 90-gram portions, with 3 pieces per serving. The first bite was the best as it is. There are plenty of condiments available for flavor variations, which is nice. Next time, I will try to come early and get a numbered ticket before visiting Gion.

The restaurant was crowded during lunchtime. I kept brushing against the person next to me multiple times. However, the hamburger was delicious. I was told to eat it without adding anything at first, so I did. The taste was genuine with no deception. The real meat juices overflowed, and the taste of the meat was incredibly delicious. And then, I took a bite of the rice. It was irresistible! The restaurant name is not deceiving.

I visited the Yasaka Shrine to see the Gion Festival's Naginata Hoko Chigo-sha parade, and around 11:40 I was looking for a place to have lunch when I stumbled upon a traditional Kyoto townhouse where people were being drawn in. There was a narrow alley with floor seating and people waiting. It turned out to be a popular restaurant from Tokyo, as I found out on Tabelog (laughs). When I asked if they had a reservation, they said no, but they could seat me at 12:30 or earlier if a table opened up sooner. In fact, I was seated at 11:50! They served freshly grilled hamburgers right in front of us, dividing each one into three servings. They offered lime water and pickled cabbage for free. You could also have one free egg, grated daikon radish, and dashi soy sauce. You could get unlimited rice refills. The hamburgers could be enjoyed with various toppings for flavor variations. The variety of toppings was impressive and everything felt refined. However, I found the hamburger itself to be too salty, and even with the toppings, I couldn't mask that flavor. I think the restaurant has an interesting concept, but the taste of the hamburger itself was not to my liking.

The second branch of the popular Tokyo restaurant Minced Meat and Rice has arrived in Gion, Kyoto. The set includes rice, miso soup, and hamburg steak! The hamburg steak, marinated well, can be enjoyed with up to 3 pieces for the same price. Plus, with over 10 types of condiments and a free raw egg per person, the flavor combinations are endless. With free rice refills, I was completely satisfied. The set for 1,600 yen was incredibly worth it. This is a popular restaurant, so it's recommended to go in the morning at 9 am, sign the reservation list, and get a numbered ticket. It's definitely worth a visit!

I finally made it on my third attempt. They grill three 90g hamburgers for me, one at a time to match my eating pace, so they are all freshly grilled. They also provide side dishes to go with rice, and each person can have a raw egg. You have to line up at the store by 9 a.m. to make a reservation for the day, so be careful. I hope they consider implementing a system for making reservations online.

I came to check it out on foot since I was staying nearby. According to the information, just like in Shibuya and Kichijoji, tickets are distributed every morning from 9 am, so I arrived a little after 9 am, but there was no one there. Surprisingly, they gave me a ticket without any restrictions in the early afternoon. When I entered at the scheduled time, I first purchased a meal ticket from the vending machine. You can eat up to 3 pieces of 90g hamburgers, so I got 3 of them. They explained the condiments, and while waiting for the hamburgers being grilled in front of me, I enjoyed the rice cooked in a pot and miso soup that were served first. The hamburgers were almost done grilling. The first hamburger was placed in front of me using tongs from the grill. I tried the first one without any condiments. It was already seasoned well, so it was incredibly juicy and delicious without adding anything. Then, I tried various condiments with the second one. Yuzu pepper, grated radish, etc., each brought out different flavors and enhanced the taste of the meat, pairing perfectly with the rice. I even had a second helping of rice in the middle. I wanted to eat slowly, but my appetite couldn't be satisfied. Before I knew it, I was on the last piece, which I enjoyed by dipping in raw egg. It was undeniably delicious. I finished it in no time. The satisfaction level was very high, and it seems that it's not just a trend in Tokyo, but many people are repeat customers. This place is definitely going to be popular. It was incredibly delicious. They seem to have enough supply even if you come around noon. Tokyo is amazing, huh? It's like it doesn't concern me (laughs). Although this is not a shop unique to Kyoto, I feel like I might come back again.

After finishing one hamburger, another one would be served, and the same for the third one, so you could always enjoy them hot. The hamburgers were rich and tasty, and after having two bowls of rice and three hamburgers, I was quite full and felt that it was a good deal for 1600 yen. I visited a popular restaurant that was the talk of the town recently. They don't take reservations, and you can only enter by obtaining a numbered ticket at the storefront starting at 9 a.m. The menu is simple, offering hamburger sets and various drinks as single items. You purchase tickets from a vending machine. Located in Gion, the restaurant attracts many inbound tourists. I was surprised to find that most of the staff could speak English for customer service, and all dish explanations were in English. The hamburgers were kneaded live and charcoal-grilled in front of you. Each table had a charcoal brazier where they cooked 40g portions three times for you. You eat the hamburger as is first, then add one of the 8 types of condiments provided at each table, such as rock salt and black pepper. The rice, cooked in a feather pot, was exceptionally delicious. Each person could have one egg, and the table drawers were stocked with small plates and spices. The restaurant was designed with efficiency in mind, focusing on the concept of customers enjoying live hamburgers. The layout was ideal, and I learned a lot about food, presentation, service, store design, and multitasking. Overall, it was a great restaurant with much to learn from in every aspect.

About 10 minutes north of Hankyu Kawaramachi Station Exit 1, there is a hamburger specialty restaurant. They start taking reservations from 9 am, and I arrived at 8:30 am to be the first in line. I returned around 12:15 pm and was seated around 12:25 pm. I ordered the Ground Meat and Rice set for 1600 yen. It comes with 3 90g hamburgers, rice (free refills), and miso soup. The seating is arranged in an oval shape around the counter, where the hamburgers are cooked at the center and served three times at the best timing. I started by eating the hamburgers plain, and they were well-seasoned with juicy meat. The rice was also delicious and perfectly cooked. For the second hamburger, I tried it with ponzu sauce and condiments, and the chili oil gave it a nice kick. The third one, I placed it on top of rice, added a raw egg and soy sauce, and it was also very tasty. I had three helpings of rice and felt very satisfied. Overall, the simple enjoyment of the juicy meat without any toppings was the most delicious.

The hamburgers are limited to 3 per person, with miso soup, a raw egg, and rice included. You can have as much rice as you like. The live cooking experience is great. There are plenty of side dishes for the hamburgers, so you won't get tired of them. Personally, I liked the homemade ponzu sauce with grated daikon the best.

The famous hamburger shop, "Kemmin to Kome-san," is too popular. I lined up at 9 in the morning and got a ticket around 11:30 (on a Sunday). They operate on a ticket system, with the menu offering a set of 3 hamburgers or additional hamburgers only. They cook the hamburgers right in front of you, which adds to the live experience. The hamburgers are... delicious! But, they're just slightly better than your average hamburger...? However, they have eggs and spices, and there are so many ways to change up the flavors that you can't stop eating the rice. It's so much fun!!! You can tell that the shop was created by a savvy entrepreneur. There are so many ways to change up the flavors that you end up needing more hamburgers. If you don't order extra hamburgers, you won't be able to enjoy all the flavor variations. They are just too good at business... It's a shop that I would have visited again if it were closer and more accessible, but I hope more people, especially those who haven't been there yet, will visit this shop.

It's difficult to make same-day reservations, but I happened to get lucky this time and visited the restaurant. I waited about 30 minutes for a seat at the counter on a weekday lunchtime. The main dish is hamburg steak. The hamburg steak is cooked with a firm sear rather than being juicy. There are various condiments available for you to customize the flavor to your liking. Since it's a counter seat, I think even solo diners can enjoy their meal here.
