It seems like I haven't visited this restaurant in about two years. While their fruit sandwiches are famous, my personal favorite is the "Bacon and Mizuna Sandwich." However, it was already sold out on this day, perhaps it's becoming more popular. Instead, I ordered the "Vegetable and Ham Mix Sandwich" with Mizuna. The egg inside was not the trendy thick omelette type but a finely crushed boiled egg, which was deliciously made. I also ordered the classic "Seasonal Fruit Sandwich," which had a mix of watermelon, kiwi, mango, and pineapple. The sweetness of the mango and the acidity of the pineapple complemented each other well, showing excellent selection. The coffee was the "Ichikawaya Blend," which tasted refreshing when drunk black. They prepared a separate plate without me asking, cutting one of the three sandwiches in half for sharing. There were many foreign tourists that day, and I was worried about the place becoming more and more popular, but the staff's unchanged friendliness reassured me. As I left, I was able to exchange a few words with the owner. With so many reviews already out there, there may not be much left for me to write, but one thing - besides enjoying the taste, I hope you can also appreciate the beautiful tableware they use, which are pieces by talented artists.

I visited around noon on Saturday. There were about 3 groups waiting, and I waited for about 30 minutes before entering. I ordered a fruit sandwich. On that day, it was made with Pione and Shine Muscat, and the sweetness of the Pione was particularly good. The atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious, so I would like to visit again if I have the chance. Since there is a limited number of people who can wait inside, those who don't want to wait in the heat may want to aim for less crowded times like opening hours.

I heard that the fruit sandwich was delicious, so I visited during snack time. Around 1:00 pm, there were 4 groups waiting in line, but the turnover was relatively fast and I was able to enter the store in about 15 minutes. The fruit sandwich is the only option! Starting from September, they have fig sandwiches. It seems that they had peach sandwiches until last month... Personally, I thought peaches were better than figs. The bread is fluffy. The cream is light and the fruits are packed in a neatly arranged manner. A small amount of banana is added as a hidden flavor, complementing the sweetness. I ordered a cafe au lait with extra milk for my drink. It's delicious. It is served in a lovely dish by the artist. The service from the staff was good and I didn't feel uncomfortable waiting. I want to eat the fruit sandwich again next time. Maybe the regular sandwiches are delicious too. I would like to try them as well. *There is a copy of the Times in front of me.

I entered the store during snack time. There were no inbound tourists, so I had to wait for about 10 minutes before being seated at a table. I ordered the Ichikawaya blend with a seasonal fruit sandwich, which was peach for this season. Just like last year when I visited, the peach sandwich was delicious with a slightly sweet cream. The old house was stylishly renovated, making it very comfortable to stay in. I feel like I could stay here for a long time. I would definitely want to visit this place again when I come to Kyoto.

Ichikawaya Coffee in Kiyamachi Gojo, known for their delicious fruit sandwiches, has recently resumed their morning service after temporarily stopping it due to the pandemic. I have been visiting this place for almost 7 years, about 30 times, and my go-to order is always the seasonal fruit sandwich. This month in August, they are serving peach sandwiches made with Yamanashi peaches. Since trying their fruit sandwich, I have yet to find another place that can match the level of satisfaction I get from Ichikawaya's sandwiches. The lightness of the cream, the perfect combination of bread, fruit, and cream - it's truly exceptional. While all their seasonal fruit sandwiches are delicious, my personal favorites are the grape and Shine Muscat sandwiches in September and October, the persimmon sandwich in November, and the peach sandwich in July and August. They also offer other tasty options like egg sandwiches and demi-glace omelette rice, and their coffee is also top-notch, as expected from a coffee shop. The atmosphere of the shop, with its Kyoto-style renovation of a machiya (traditional townhouse) and the option to enjoy your meal on Kiyomizu-yaki (Kyoto pottery) dishes, adds to the charm and makes it a perfect spot for tourists. The spacious interior tends to fill up quickly, especially during morning and snack times, so be sure to arrive early. I have recommended this place to so many friends that they jokingly ask if I'm a secret promoter, and every friend who has gone has raved about the fruit sandwiches and expressed a desire to go back. I visited after about 10 years, and the interior had changed since my last visit, but the traditional townhouse atmosphere remained the same. I enjoyed my meal while looking out at the small garden. I was seated at the counter just like last time and had the "Seasonal Fruit Sandwich & Iced Coffee with Homemade Lemon Squash." The fruit sandwich of the day was peach. Watching the skilled chefs at work at the counter added to the dining experience. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Let's go on a 1 night 2 day cafe-hopping trip. I took a paid vacation, but unexpectedly ran into trouble. I had to go to work first thing in the morning and deal with some issues, so I ended up starting my trip 5 hours late. The first place I visited today was in Nijo, Kyoto. It's a traditional Kyoto townhouse located in a quiet residential area. They are famous for their seasonal fruit sandwich. I had a white peach sandwich (1100 yen) and an iced coffee (550 yen). The fluffy bread was filled with a whole white peach and cream. The peach was still a bit mild in sweetness. The iced coffee had a refreshing taste, but the serving size seemed a bit small. They also offered a coffee refill for an additional 250 yen. The spacious interior had old roasting machines and original coffee beans on display. The omurice also looked delicious. It's hot in Tokyo, but even hotter in Kyoto. Walking down the street, I could feel beads of sweat forming. Next, I will be heading to Osaka.

It seems like a popular place with long lines even on regular days, but Google Maps showed it was "less busy than usual" so I decided to visit. We had to wait for about 20 minutes as there were 3 groups ahead of us. The main item on the menu is coffee, but the lemonade I ordered was not too sweet and had a refreshing taste, which I really enjoyed. We also ordered a seasonal fruit sandwich to share among the three of us, and they kindly cut it into portions for us. It was a perfect amount for three people.

When I went there around opening time on a weekday, I was just able to get a seat, but it quickly became full and there were many people waiting. - Seasonal Fruit Sandwich Peach 1180 yen A fruit sandwich where you can enjoy juicy peaches. The cream is slightly mousse-like but light, and the subtle sweetness is delicious. I wanted to eat more of the cream! - Set Black Tea 380 yen The milk tea comes with milk served separately.

Located in Kyoto, Gion, my favorite coffee shop is Ichikawa-ya Coffee. I always go there, but this time I was thrilled to visit during the watermelon season. Watermelon is my favorite fruit, so I was very happy. The watermelon had a crunchy texture, which was amazing. The sweet and juicy watermelon, melting mango, refreshing pineapple, and kiwi all had perfect harmony. The cream was not too sweet, allowing the sweetness of the fruits to stand out, which was a nice touch. I love the fruit sandwich at Ichikawa-ya Coffee. The coffee at Ichikawa-ya has a refreshing aftertaste, which pairs well with the fruit sandwich. I highly recommend trying the fruit sandwich with coffee. I definitely want to visit during watermelon season again next year.

There were so many places I wanted to visit, but my friend recommended Ichikawa-ya Coffee near our hotel. The seasonal fruit sandwich paired perfectly with their freshly roasted coffee! The fruits were chosen to evoke a tropical summer vibe, including watermelon, mango, kiwi, and pineapple. However, the strong sunlight made me struggle between wanting to savor the sandwich slowly as the cream melted, and wanting to finish it before it melted completely. This café has become one of the top 100 cafes, with a renovated old house style. There is a long line, so it may be difficult to find a place to park your bicycle depending on how you line up. I waited in the outdoor line and ordered the seasonal fruit sandwich for 1180 yen, along with a set of iced coffee for 380 yen. I sat at the counter seat, where I could enjoy watching them brew coffee and make sandwiches right in front of me. They had several kettles and seemed to be using them in various combinations. This month's seasonal fruit sandwich had watermelon, pineapple, mango, and kiwi. It took some learning to figure out how to eat it without the fruit spilling out, but it was juicy and delicious.

I visited around 10:30 on a weekday. There were about 3 groups in the empty store. The morning set was sold out, so I tried the famous fruit sandwich, but...I regretted it. I don't think watermelon goes well with it. The fluffy texture of the fruit sandwich was not felt due to the crispy texture of the watermelon, and the taste became strangely thin due to the watermelon's moisture. Although it looked beautiful, I was disappointed that I couldn't feel the deliciousness at this price.

I went to Ichikawaya Coffee for the first time after starting my day with a morning at 9 o'clock. I usually aim to arrive just before the 11 o'clock opening time, but this time I was prepared to wait and arrived around 11:30. I had the seasonal fruit sandwich and blended coffee at Ichikawaya Coffee in Higashiyama Gojo, Kyoto. I arrived just before 11 am, so I debated getting the morning set, but decided to save it for next time. The cream in the fruit sandwich was not too sweet and had a pleasant aftertaste. Golden Week has ended, but even on weekdays, Kyoto is overflowing with tourists. The bus stops are filled with school trip students and foreign visitors. It would be preferable to travel by subway, but Ichikawayasan is closest to the Horikawa-machi bus stop. I had an early lunch and arrived at 12 o'clock. The counter was empty. The fruit sandwich for May was melon. It was refreshing and delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I finally visited Ichikawayacoffee, a place I had been wanting to go to. I ordered the seasonal fruit sandwich and iced coffee. This month's sandwich had Andes melon and Quincy melon, both of which were incredibly delicious. With the weather getting warmer, I think I'll stick to cold drinks like coffee from now on.

It is located about a 12-13 minute walk east from Exit 2 of Kizugawa-Honsen Line Shimizu Gojo Station. Upon entering the shop, you will be guided to a counter seat with a view of the courtyard. Here, I had the Ichikawaya Blend and Demi Omurice. After a short wait, the coffee and omurice were brought to me. The Ichikawaya Blend has a nice aroma, and you can enjoy the bitterness and acidity of the coffee. The Demi Omurice consists of butter rice omelette with demiglace sauce on top. The combination of the egg's texture and the mellowness of the butter rice with the rich demiglace sauce creates a flavorful dish that pairs well with the coffee. So, I had a refill of coffee. I chose the Seiji Blend this time, which has a gentler bitterness and acidity compared to the Ichikawaya Blend. I was able to enjoy a leisurely coffee time while looking out at the courtyard.
