Platto, today's morning stroll around Kachidoki Station. I took the Toei Oedo Line and exited from Kachidoki Station A3b exit, turned around on Kiyosumi Street, walked a bit and turned right onto Harumi Street. Walking towards Harumi, on the right hand side, I found the "Matsuya Kachidoki Store" that I visited today. Starting from September 28th at 2pm, a nationwide unified price for "gyudon" will be introduced. The previously limited menu item mainly available in the Kanto region, the "Premium Gyudon," will be revamped and become the new nationwide unified menu item "Gyudon." Before that, I wanted to have one last taste of the "Gyudon" at Matsuya, so I entered the store at 7:55 am on Tuesday, September 28th. Inside the store, I checked the menu at the ticket machine in front of me. The morning menu includes: - Choose between Tamagokake Gohan for 290 yen - Regular morning set for 360 yen - Grilled salmon set for 490 yen - Sausage and egg set for 420 yen - Sausage and egg double set for 480 yen - Morning mini gyudon and miso soup set for 490 yen. It had been so long since I visited Matsuya in the morning, I couldn't remember how many years it had been. Among the morning menu options, the only way to have "gyudon" was by ordering the "Morning Mini Gyudon and Miso Soup Set," so I selected "Hiyayakko" as the side dish, received my ticket, and sat at a vacant counter seat to wait for my order. After 3 minutes of waiting, the "Morning Mini Gyudon and Miso Soup Set" was served. The set included a mini gyudon, miso soup, and hiyayakko. I started with the main dish of the day, the "Mini Gyudon." The topping on the "gyudon" had a deep brown color from the soy sauce and dashi. Just like in any gyudon chain, the quality of the beef can vary from day to day. Sometimes the meat is tender with a good balance of fat, while other times it may have tough meat with unpleasant fat. I wondered which type I would get today. I added a generous amount of "beni shoga" (pickled ginger) and took a bite. The meat was of good quality, tender, and flavorful. I enjoyed the "gyudon" with the "beni shoga." I poured some soy sauce on the hiyayakko, took a bite, and then added half of it to the miso soup. The miso soup was filled with ingredients like tofu, onions, carrots, daikon radish, burdock root, lotus root, taro, and chopped green onions. With plenty of ingredients and additional tofu, it became a hearty miso soup. Each ingredient had a different size and texture, making it enjoyable to eat. I finished the "Mini Gyudon" and the miso soup ingredients, refreshed my palate with the hiyayakko, and finally drank up the miso soup. Today, I had the opportunity to savor the "Gyudon" at Matsuya after a long time, as the "Premium Gyudon" is set to be renewed. It was a satisfying meal. Thank you for the meal.
