Today, I tried a ham cutlet from a takeout shop at Shinjuku Takashimaya, which is known for its sukiyaki. The ham cutlet was thick and satisfying, with a good balance of flavor and not too greasy. It was definitely made with high-quality ham. Overall, it was delicious and enjoyable.

After having lunch at "J.S. BURGERS CAFE Shinjuku", I went to a nearby Takashimaya to buy a bento box for dinner at home. I bought a grilled black wagyu beef bento box (1,296 yen) from the famous sukiyaki restaurant "Imahan" in Asakusa, which looked delicious. My husband loves wagyu beef, so I got it for him. The bento box had plenty of meat on top of the rice, so it seemed very satisfying. I had a little taste and it was tender and delicious. It seemed like it would go well with rice.

On 5/3, at the Shinjuku Takashimaya underground sales store. ☆ Bought sukiyaki croquette. I wondered if there was sukiyaki inside the croquette, but it seems like it's just sukiyaki flavor. It's probably a regular croquette in terms of ingredients.

On this day, I had an early lunch at "Nanatsu Kai Shinjuku Takashimaya Store" and also bought a bento for dinner at home. It was my first time ordering takeout from this place. I ordered the "Black Wagyu Stamina Yakiniku Bento" for 1,296 yen. The bento had flavorful yakiniku with well-cooked rice, green onions, and snow peas as a nice touch. It was delicious even when it cooled down. Overall, the bento was so tasty that I thought the restaurant version might be even better. It made me feel quite happy. However, because I tried the bento first, I ended up giving a slightly lower rating.

A shop in the food section of Takashimaya right by the south exit of Shinjuku Station sells bento boxes from Ningyocho Imahan. I purchased the Sukiyaki bento (1620 yen) and luckily, since it was in the evening, I was able to buy it for 300 yen cheaper with a discount sticker. The container is two-tiered with sukiyaki on top and rice on the bottom. The top tier is filled with meat, leeks, shirataki noodles, bamboo shoots, grilled tofu, carrots, chrysanthemum greens, shiitake mushrooms, and a hot spring egg. It's about half meat and half other ingredients. The bottom tier contains rice, pickles, and salted kelp. The original price is a bit high for a bento box, but the meat is delicious as it has soaked up the sauce. Using the hot spring egg is a unique touch for a bento box. Just be careful when transporting it as it is essentially a soup, so it can spill if tilted. Eating sukiyaki while on a long-distance bus from Shinjuku Bus Terminal is quite a luxury in this day and age.

Bento lunch box from Imahan, a sukiyaki restaurant in Asakusa, costs 1620 yen. Imahan was established in 1895 in the back streets of Nakamise in Asakusa. After World War II, a branch was opened in Asakusa which later became the current Imahan. The branch in Ningyocho, known as Ningyocho Imahan, opened in 1952 and became independent 4 years later. Imahan also has a restaurant in Shinjuku Takashimaya department store and a meat shop with a small dining area in the fresh meat section. The bento I purchased consisted of sukiyaki beef, shirataki noodles, grilled tofu, leeks, bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, carrots, greens, and a soft-boiled egg in the top layer, and rice, salted kelp, and pickles in the bottom layer. The sukiyaki sauce from Imahan is widely available in supermarkets, so I won't comment on the taste, but the beef and shirataki noodles were rich and flavorful. The beef was tender and the bento was still delicious even when cold. If it was heated, it would probably taste even richer.

It's Saturday night. I'm at a raccoon's nest. Oh, I'm so tired from walking...! I walked from Akasaka through Nogizaka to Aoyama Ichome. Continued on to Shinanomachi and finally reached my goal at Shinjuku Takashimaya. Ah, I'm so exhausted. Can't even put it into words. And to top it off, I arrived at my destination at an odd hour, so there's too much time until dinner. Can't seem to find a place to sit down either. Hmm, could this be a sign to buy some deli food at Takashimaya's basement and head home? I stumbled down to the basement and rejuvenated myself with fresh juice. Now what should I do? Oh, Takashimaya, they have Now Half, right? Found it! These croquettes are delicious. They're packed with ground meat and the mashed potatoes with chunks of leftover meat and vegetables in a rich broth are also delicious! Bought a few other side dishes, cracked open a can of beer, and relaxed. The combination with squid sauce is unbeatable. Bulldog sauce won't do. Kagome won't work either. Squid sauce is the way to go with fried food, right? Ahaha. But my neck has been tingling since earlier. Did I get sunburned? I protected my bald spot with a baseball cap, but neglected to care for the back of my neck. Ugh, I always seem to overlook things! And that was a delicious meal.

Asakusa Imahan is a popular restaurant, but there is also a bento shop in Shinjuku Takashimaya operated by Imahan. I happened to be shopping at Takashimaya's Ogurasanso, so I bought a bento for dinner. I chose the sukiyaki bento. The meat was surprisingly tender. When you pour the sauce over it, it tastes like it goes well with rice. It's great that you can easily enjoy the taste of Imahan in a bento form.

I received this review from the Wherever Footprint Left Squad. Tsukudani, you know, it ends up tasting the same, right? It's like enjoying the different textures of the ingredients. I forgot to wash the disposable chopsticks, so they got sticky. They use a lot of sugar, so I have to be careful not to eat too much.

I had a satisfying adult lunch on this day. After that, I went to Takashimaya basement to buy some sweets and ended up buying dinner as well. I was torn between choosing a bento box from Kakiyasu, which I have never been to, and Imahan. Eventually, I chose Imahan. They had classic options like steak and sukiyaki bento boxes displayed. After much consideration, I purchased the sukiyaki bento box (1836 yen). I decided to use the eggs I had at home, so I chose a bento box with more meat. The bento box had two tiers, with rice topped with pickled plum on the bottom tier, and meat dishes on the top tier. The meat was tender and lightly seasoned, and I was already satisfied with just that. I'm sure it would taste even better at the store. The staff's customer service was polite and I liked it. Don't you think the white rice in bento boxes like this is delicious? I'm grateful to have encountered the bento box from the famous Imahan. I'd love to visit the main store someday.

Located about 2 minutes from the JR Shinjuku Station New South Exit, on the 1st basement floor of Shinjuku Takashimaya, is where you can find this bento box. Although I did not go there myself and received it while out, I had to guess the location. The bento box I received this time was the Kurumi bento (1,080 yen) from Ningyocho Imahan. Everyone got excited just by looking at the box, but when we opened it, we were surprised. Inside, there was an Ebi Katsu with edamame, fried chicken, tamagoyaki, potato salad, simmered dish, kinshi tamago, gyudon, rice, and pickles. While everything was reasonably tasty, we were a bit disappointed because we expected more meat from Imahan. The amount of rice was more than the side dishes, and especially the women found it a bit too much. Even though we received it, we would have been happier if there was at least a little bit of meat on top of the rice.

At a meeting held once every six months, we were provided with bento boxes. This time, we decided on the sukiyaki bento, which was delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful, and even when cold, it was still enjoyable. The tofu had absorbed the flavors well and was tasty too. The portion size was just right for women and elderly individuals. Overall, cold bento can still be delicious.

Established in Meiji 28, Ningyocho Imahan is a well-known restaurant. Originally a branch of Asakusa Imahan in Nihonbashi, it later became independent. The eldest son took over Asakusa Imahan, while the second son inherited Ningyocho Imahan. I tried the sukiyaki bento from Ningyocho Imahan. The lower tier includes rice sprinkled with black sesame seeds and a pickled plum in the center, along with pickles. The upper tier contains black wagyu beef sukiyaki, fu (wheat gluten) in a cross shape, white konnyaku, grilled tofu, shiitake mushrooms, green onions, shimeji mushrooms, bamboo shoots with the tip, and a soft-boiled egg. The richly marinated black wagyu beef paired with the soft-boiled egg is a luxurious and delicious bento. The tea from Imahan also had a delightful aroma and tasted great.
