Hailing from Gokokuji, this restaurant is owned by a former head chef from Hong Kong and Omotesando MIST. The restaurant has earned one Michelin star and I was very curious to try it out. It is located near Otsuka Station or Shin-Otsuka, and the travel time is about the same from either station. I arrived about 30 minutes before opening and there was already a line of over 10 people. As the opening time approached, the line grew to about 30-40 people. I ordered the Tantanmen and Wasabi Mayo Char Siu Don. The Tantanmen had a balanced spiciness with a clear and rich flavor, not overwhelming but with a refined heat. The sesame aroma lingering was also delightful. I am curious to try the Shoyu ramen next time I visit!

No matter how many times I eat it, the tantan tsukemen at Naruryu is outstanding. The harmonious aroma of sesame and chili oil, the beautiful richness and cleanliness of the soup, and above all, the balance of acidity. Even though it already has one Michelin star, I still feel that Naruryu's rightful recognition is not enough. Personally, I like it as much as Cantessance, Chazenka, and Referveson, and I believe that a dish of such high perfection can only be found in a three-star class.

I visited the restaurant at 10:30 on Saturday. It's a famous place, so I wanted to try it once. There were about 30 people lined up at 10:30. Since it's a ramen shop, I thought the turnover rate would be fast and we would be seated quickly, but the circulation was really slow... I wondered why it was taking so long for a ramen shop... Maybe they are making it carefully because it's Michelin-rated...? I was half-doubtful. It took a little over 2 hours to get seated. And I was surprised by the lack of friendliness of the staff... They didn't say a word to the customers who had been waiting for a long time, just held a notepad from afar and stared while taking notes... It left a cold impression... As someone who was waiting, it was concerning, so I thought that basic manners and customer service towards customers are important... I had the salt ramen, but honestly, it wasn't worth waiting 2 hours for. My friend had the tantanmen and had the same opinion. I don't think I will come back to eat here again, but it seems like there are many people who come because it's famous.

I arrived at the restaurant at 9:00 and there was already one person waiting. By 9:30, there were over 30 people lined up outside the stylish Italian restaurant. I ordered the tantanmen for 1200 yen with an additional topping of chashu for 250 yen and ajitama (flavored egg) for 150 yen. The tantanmen had a creamy orange-colored soup with red spicy oil, dark minced meat, and green negi (spring onion). The chashu was served on a separate plate. The soup had two layers, with a soy sauce base on the bottom and a thick layer of nuts and sesame paste on top, giving it a spicy and numbing flavor. The noodles were thin and straight with a good chewiness. The thin slices of chashu were tender and delicious. Overall, it was a delightful meal.

Sunday visit. Arrived at 8:50 aiming for the first round, with one customer already there. It seemed like we could secure a spot for the first round if we arrived by 9:30, but then more and more people started lining up, mainly inbound, and before opening, there was a line of nearly 50 people. Ordered tantanmen and shoyu ramen when they opened at 11. The shoyu ramen was excellent with its firm low hydration noodles and seared chashu, but it's difficult to differentiate with shoyu ramen. As I ate the tantanmen, the flavor gradually became richer, which paired well with the low hydration noodles and the soup. It was amazing. I want to have the tantanmen again.

Arrived around 9:45 AM on Saturday and there was already a line of about 20 people, with more than half of them being foreigners. By the time the restaurant opened, there were over 60 people waiting in line, which was impressive. I waited for 2 hours before entering at 11 AM to purchase my meal ticket. Although I don't eat Dan Dan noodles often, this place is famous for them so I decided to give it a try. My noodles arrived in about 7-8 minutes, and it made me realize that I still prefer soy sauce ramen. It seemed like they served 2-3 bowls per batch. If I were to come back, I would definitely arrive before 9 AM again.

I arrived around 2:30 pm thinking I could still eat since the review said they stop taking orders at 3 pm. I waited for about an hour to get in. Due to short staff, they had to announce that they were not serving tsukemen or hiyashi ramen. I ordered shoyu ramen (1200 yen), drooling chicken (500 yen), and a bottle of beer (500 yen). The tantanmen is popular here, but the shoyu ramen was also delicious. The leftover sauce from the drooling chicken was great with the chashu. The only downside was that the beer was not Super Dry. A foreign customer asked the owner until what time they were open, to which he replied "until 3 pm," leaving her looking surprised.

Creative Noodle Workshop Naruryu (Otsuka) Same-store repeat visit, first try of the Sour and Spicy Noodles. #2. Sour and Spicy Noodles with Cilantro Topping Michelin one-star ⭐️ restaurant revisit! It has been exactly one year since my first visit. Arrived 1 hour before opening and there was already a long line. It seems like arriving at 9:30 is the most efficient. September 6, 2023 (Wednesday) Arrived at 10:33 and there were over 20 people waiting outside, mostly foreigners. The staff confirmed that the wait time would be 2 to 2.5 hours. Some groups in line left, and even some customers ahead of me gave up. The restaurant opened but the foreigners were struggling with the ticket machine, causing delays. Finally, at 11:13, the first group of 12 people entered. The wait continued, and at 12:48, after a 135-minute wait, I was finally able to enter the restaurant. The menu included a limited edition dish, a summer limited cold plum salt ramen, and the Sour and Spicy Noodles with cilantro topping. Both dishes were delicious, with the cold plum salt ramen being a unique and refreshing choice for the season. The Sour and Spicy Noodles had a sophisticated balance of sourness and spiciness, and the cilantro added a nice touch. Both dishes were enjoyed to the last drop. It was a great experience at this Michelin one-star ⭐️ restaurant. Thank you for the meal. Don't give up on the patience required to enjoy the popularity of inbound tourists. Total time spent: approximately 3 hours.

#1. Summer Limited Edition: Cold Ume Salt Tsukemen Revisit! It's been exactly a year since my first visit. Arrived an hour before opening and there was already a long line. It seems like coming at 9:30 is the most efficient. September 6, 2023 (Wednesday) Arrived at 10:33 with over 20 people waiting outside, mostly foreigners. The staff confirmed the number of people waiting and said it would take about 2 to 2.5 hours. Some groups ahead of us left, and even some customers in front of us gave up. As expected, two customers in front of us left upon opening. The struggle with the foreigner-operated ticket machine is causing the delay. Finally, some customers started entering at 11:13. It took a while for the ticket machine process. The shop is mostly filled with foreigners, making it seem like a foreigner restaurant. It's a shame that Japanese people can't enjoy it as much. On weekdays, it's mostly foreigners. On this day, about 80-90% were foreigners. The inbound tourism is back, and our Michelin One Star ⭐️ shop is very popular. Finally entered at 12:48 (135 minutes wait, phew, finally!).

#2. Sour and Spicy Noodles 1,200 yen Cilantro 150 yen Bottle of Beer 500 yen
The goal was to try the limited noodles. Enjoyed a bottle of beer while waiting. At exactly 13:00, the noodles were served.
#1. Summer Limited Cold Ume Salt Tsukemen The soup was like jelly and remained cold until the end. The saltiness and plum flavor were amazing! The thin noodles were incredibly delicious. Cold noodles can only be enjoyed this time of year, and it was worth the wait. Next, at 13:15, the noodles were served.
#2. Sour and Spicy Noodles, Cilantro TP first order, I like tantanmen, but I also like sour and spicy noodles. This one was elegant with a balanced sour and spicy taste. The toppings were simple, and the cilantro was served separately, so I added it myself for the photo. Both were delicious and finished completely. Enjoyed the Michelin One Star ⭐️ shop. Thank you for the meal. Hang in there and be patient with the inbound tourism.

I visited for the first time, the restaurant opened at 11:00 am, I arrived at 9:40 am on Sunday and there was a line of about 15 people. I was able to enter on the second round at around 11:40 am. There was a Michelin shield inside the store. I ordered tantanmen, flavored egg, drooling chicken, shrimp wonton, chashu rice, and beer. Everything was delicious and I was very satisfied!

These days, it has been hot so I haven't been able to go to Nariryu, the ramen shop where you have to wait outside in line. But this time, I visited around 2 pm after adjusting the time. There were about 10 people waiting with a wait time of about 30 minutes. After that, it started to get crowded again, so this time was the perfect timing. It's nice that they lend you a parasol while waiting in line. I couldn't decide whether to try the limited chilled plum salt ramen or the tantan tsukemen, but I ended up choosing the tantan tsukemen. The tantan soup here is really delicious. The noodles are thin but satisfyingly voluminous. I felt like there was less sauce on the chashu rice bowl than usual. With this kind of wait time, I would like to visit again soon to try the chilled plum salt ramen.

Alone. A stylish store located in a residential area, a 5-minute walk from JR Otsuka Station South Exit. As reviews suggest, there are many foreign customers. It can be a bit difficult to line up, so it's important to read the instructions posted in front of the store carefully for first-timers. Waited in line for 30 minutes. The interior of the store has only 5-6 counter seats, so turnover is very slow. However, the wait is worth it for the taste. This time, I ordered the signature menu item, Tan Tan Men for ¥1,200. It has a spicy kick with a mild richness. The thin noodles are perfectly coated in the soup, creating a great combination. The long line is understandable. And it's stylish. They also have soy sauce and salt ramen, so I'll try those next time. Thank you for the meal.

Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line "Shin-Otsuka Station" is a 5-minute walk from the north exit, and JR Yamanote Line "Otsuka Station" is a 6-minute walk from the south exit. I arrived at 13:25. There were only about 5 people lined up next to the shop, so I went to the other side under the scorching sun. They lent me a parasol, which was very helpful. I heard that there is usually a long line, so it was quite tough in this heat. Luckily, there were only 6 people waiting, which was less than the line I heard about in reviews. Tantan Tsukemen for 1400 yen. I was initially planning to order the Tantanmen, but I was drawn to the Tsukemen version and decided to order it. It was amazing. The ultra-thin noodles had a great texture. They were served with a sauce made of tomatoes and leeks, which added a light and tangy flavor. The soup had a rich paste, but overall it was light and mildly spicy. Combined with the noodles, it had an authentic Chinese soup flavor with a hint of spice. It was very delicious. Personally, I really like thin noodles for Tsukemen, so I was very happy. The bottom of the dipping sauce had chunks of ground meat and crushed nuts, adding a nice texture. Next time, I want to try the Tantanmen. Instagram ID: kuidaore.8.

Tantanmen ¥1,200, Thinly Sliced Chashu ¥250, Flavored Egg ¥150. This is really delicious. The clear soup and thin noodles go down smoothly. The spiciness is mild. Just adding the table pepper adds to the flavor. The chashu has a tasty flavor like prosciutto.

Tantan Tsukemen, extra large portion. I was walking around Otsuka in the morning and seeing the usual long line made me want to eat it again after a long time. There were mostly foreigners lining up and it was scorching hot under the direct sunlight, so I almost gave up, but my determination to eat it won and it took the usual hour and a half to get a seat. There was a parasol for shade placed in front of the store that you could borrow. As taste varies from person to person, I won't describe it. My personal rating is as per the score.

Ramen Kanto Summer Expedition Part 9 Finally visited the shop I've always wanted to go to. I thought about getting the tantanmen, but the shoyu or salt options also looked delicious, so this time I went with the shoyu. The smooth and chewy thin noodles were a delight to slurp and had a great texture. The soup was rich with various flavors like animal and seafood, creating a deep and flavorful taste. Despite this being my third bowl of ramen for lunch, I finished it in no time. The tender and flavorful pork belly melted in my mouth, and the finely sliced menma matched the soup perfectly. I resisted the temptation of the tantanmen and I'm proud of myself. It exceeded my expectations and was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the meal. I'm definitely coming back to try the salt ramen next time. The restaurant is close to home, always has long lines, has a perfect score, and is Michelin-starred... I couldn't find a reason not to go! I finally went and it was the most elegant tasting tantanmen I've ever had...! Recently, they only open for lunch and it's not as crowded with tourists, but I highly recommend trying this bowl. ✨

I finally visited Otsuka's famous restaurant "Naruryu" that I've been curious about for a long time! There were already many foreigners in the line, and they kept coming in taxis! The restaurant had a clean interior, traditional Japanese service, exquisite taste, and was flawless in every way. I think foreign visitors would also enjoy this place.

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for many years, but always gave up due to the long lines. Finally, I decided to go on a weekday afternoon around 2 pm. There was a line of about 7-8 people outside, mostly foreign tourists in groups of 4-5, making it seem difficult for the staff to handle. Once inside, the food was served quickly. The taste was simple but delicious. I had imagined it would have a stronger sesame flavor, but it was still to my liking. Overall, it reminded me of well-made tantanmen from a Chinese restaurant. I may have set my expectations too high, as I wasn't exactly blown away. It made me realize how people can have strong preferences when it comes to ramen. Just my personal experience!
Michelin one-star longest ramen restaurant "Creative Noodle Workshop Naruryu". Currently, they only operate during lunchtime, but you can also enjoy a la carte options during lunch. The a la carte menu includes the following three items: "Water Dumplings" for 350 yen, "Shrimp Wontons" for 500 yen, and "Drooling Chicken" for 500 yen. Drinks include bottled beer for 500 yen, and fresh lemon sour for 400 yen. The pricing for bottled beer is cheaper compared to regular ramen restaurants. The "Shrimp Wontons" for 500 yen is a spicy dish with chili oil. The shrimp wontons are flavorful with a garlic kick, making it a great appetizer.
For a limited time in the summer, they offer "Chilled Ume Salt Ramen" for 1400 yen. It is a refreshing dish with chicken cooked at low temperatures, menma, finely sliced cucumbers mixed with white negi, tororo kelp, large leaves, and umeboshi paste. The basic recipe remains the same, but the ingredients have been upgraded with a more beautiful presentation. The finely sliced cucumbers and white negi arranged three-dimensionally with colorful arare are visually appealing. The chilled soup, made by cooling down the regular soup and adding a special jelly, has a gentle and rich flavor from kelp and seafood. The extremely thin noodles, also chilled in ice water, have a great wheat aroma, firm texture, and a refreshing crunch. The moist and tender chicken breast on top is of high quality. The sweet umeboshi paste adds a nice touch. This "Chilled Ume Salt Ramen" is a revamped version, perfect for the scorching heat.
Furthermore, from September 29th (Friday) to October 2nd (Monday), they will collaborate with Kanekitchen at the Kabukicho "Stimulating and Spicy FES" event. This will be their first event participation since the 2011 Great Tsukemen Expo "La Bettra x Chabuya", and it promises to be a lot of fun.
