I went to the first hotel's bakery for the first time to buy sweets for someone I was meeting for the first time. I happened to remember while walking that it's a bit hard to find small gifts in Shinbashi, but there's a hotel there. I'm a Hankyu-Hanshin Point Card member, so I get a discount too! I bought a pound cake with red tea and pistachio flavor for myself. It's a small size and perfect for afternoon tea. The taste is not bad. It feels like a gift, but it's okay. It's actually quite useful being close to Shinbashi Station. Unfortunately, they didn't have any bread today.

Mont Blanc 780 yen. Fromage Tropic 650 yen. Pomme 700 yen. They have a very artistic appearance. The Mont Blanc has 3 colors of cream. The bases are all thick galettes, but slightly different. Inside the Pomme, there is vanilla mousse, custard, and cooked apples. I would be happier if there were more apples in it.

From the Hibiya Exit of Shinbashi Station, head north along the Freshness Road and you'll find a shop on the 1st floor of the First Hotel Tokyo. As soon as you enter from the east entrance, you'll come across a pastry shop. Despite its compact size, the shop has a calm atmosphere. In the glass case, there are cakes made in the hotel, and on the shelves, there are homemade pastries and breads. I purchased the unique-shaped "Corn" and "Tomato Focaccia". The "Corn" had a delicious aroma and sweetness of corn. The "Tomato Focaccia" had the flavor and umami of tomatoes incorporated into the bread, making it delicious. This shop offers a convenient way to enjoy hotel-made bread.

I visited in the afternoon on a holiday. The place is located on the 1st floor of the First Hotel Tokyo. From JR Shimbashi Station Hibiya Exit, head towards the SL Square and cross the Sotobori Street at the Shimbashi Station Hibiya Exit intersection. Continue straight for about 100m and enter through the JR side entrance of the hotel, immediately on the right. Inside the store, there are hardly any breads available. The refrigerated case has cakes lined up, but also in limited quantities. What I purchased from there was the Cheese Butter Bread for 700 yen and two Croissant au Beurre for 210 yen each. At the register, I was a bit concerned about the service. It's understandable to charge for bags, but having to insert and remove the credit card by myself... I understand it may be for employee infection prevention, but there could be other methods for a hotel. It's a bit disappointing. I took them home and had them for breakfast the next day. Both were reheated in the toaster oven. The Cheese Bread is made with Danish pastry dough. The strong-flavored hard cheese doesn't lose out, but it's a bit greasy. The black pepper adds an accent, but a bit more might be better. The Croissants are more moist than crispy. The butter flavor is subtle. For a hotel patisserie, it's relatively reasonable. Thank you for the meal.

Lemon Tart ¥540
The tart crust is crispy, filled with tangy lemon cream, and topped with a slightly sweet meringue-like cream. I really like the strong lemon flavor balanced with the sweetness of the cream. The crispy texture is also amazing. Although the price for each piece is a bit high, the size is quite large, possibly double the size of pastries from other patisseries.

I purchased a set of baked sweets from this shop as a gift for my relatives to celebrate Hinamatsuri. I also got one for myself. The shop is located inside the Hotel Tokyo and sells cakes and bread. The set of baked sweets contains 10 different items, each offering a unique enjoyment. Opening the box gives a feeling of joy with its festive appearance. Each baked sweet has a rich and satisfying flavor. Enjoying tea time at home with these hotel-quality sweets feels a bit luxurious and elegant. Personally, my favorites are the pistachio pound cake with strawberry jam and the French pastry Galette Bretonne.

I went to buy around 5 p.m. on a holiday. The New Shinbashi Bread I purchased was the last one. This bakery sells two types of bread, including New Shinbashi Bread, on different days of the week. This day was New Shinbashi Bread day. Made with natural yeast, it's supposed to be soft and chewy. I bought it and will lightly toast it the next morning. It is indeed soft and chewy. While I usually find the crust of loaf bread too crispy, this one is just right, with a rich flavor. It's not an area I usually visit, but I'm glad I made the trip. Thank you for the meal.

I bought a madeleine at the pastry shop of the first hotel. It looks like a regular madeleine. But when I tried it, oh my goodness. It has a sophisticated taste. Sweet yet slightly bitter. Is this caramel? Unexpectedly deep flavor. Madeleines all look similar, and I could only distinguish between Échiré and Henri Charpentier before, but this one stands out by far.

The patisserie also offers pastry bread called Viennoiserie in addition to sweets. On a hot day in October, I decided to get the pastry bread instead of the usual sweets. I tried the Rum Danish for 141 yen and it was delicious! The syrup flavored with rum but with just the right amount of alcohol content seeped into the Danish pastry. When you take a big bite, the syrup oozes out and complements the buttery flavor of the pastry. Overall, it was affordable and large, so I will definitely try it again next time. I would rate it 4.0 out of 5.

After work near the outskirts of Ginza, almost in Shinbashi, I decided to buy some souvenirs. I had firmly decided not to go into the central part of Ginza that day, so I searched for a good sweets shop near Shinbashi. I found this one. It turned out to be a patisserie inside a hotel. When I think of the First Hotel, I think of the Maru Building in Osaka... It was located near the entrance close to Shinbashi Station. I wanted to buy cream puffs, but they were not available, so I chose seasonal cakes instead. I bought three types: an apple-shaped Pomme (450 yen), Mont Blanc (432 yen), and NY Cheesecake (410 yen). The prices were quite reasonable for a hotel, and the packaging was simple with plastic bags, which was quite down-to-earth. It's good that there is no waste of resources! The Pomme had plenty of diced apples inside and was cute in shape, so I thought it was enjoyable for this season. All the cakes were delicious and would appeal to everyone, showing the quality you would expect from a hotel.

This is a takeout-only shop that sells cakes, bread, and baked goods. I made a reservation through Ozmall for a Gorgonzola baked cheesecake priced at ¥2,300, and brought it home. They kindly included 2 ice packs as a service, which was very helpful. The Gorgonzola flavor is quite strong, more like a snack that pairs well with wine than a dessert. There is a slight sweetness in the crumble part, but the Gorgonzola flavor is dominant. I recommend it to those who love Gorgonzola or are looking for a non-sweet cheesecake. It is more delicious and rich if left out for a bit rather than straight from the fridge. Please note that the expiration date is the day after the pick-up date.

This is a bakery inside the Hankyu Group's First Hotel. I got takeout around 4 pm on a weekday. There were Showa-era style breads lined up, and I didn't see many that I liked, but I chose some classic ones. Below are the regular prices, and then there was a 10% discount for weekdays (20% off for members of the First Hotel). Croissant au Beurre for 130 yen (tax included) - The butter flavor is weak, but the crispy texture is nice. The low price is great. Noix Raisin for 240 yen - I thought there would be few walnuts and raisins due to the price, but there were actually plenty, which was a pleasant surprise. It had a satisfying texture and tasted pretty good. I paid a total of 333 yen with my Suica card after the discount. For a bakery inside a hotel, it's quite cheap. Both breads were of familiar types but had a high cost-performance ratio, so I would like to use them regularly. Maybe I made a good choice.

From JR Shinbashi Station Hibiya Exit, walk straight along the JR viaduct, cross the signal at Sotobori Street, and you will arrive at the First Hotel. According to Wikipedia, it was established over 80 years ago. Originally founded by the Hankyu Toho Group, it is now a hotel brand under the group's umbrella due to changing times. Inside the shop, there are no eat-in seats, only a showcase with cakes and a display of bread and pastries. Personally, it's a bit disappointing that you can't eat the cakes in the shop. This time, I purchased the following three items:
- Bread Set of 3 (forgot the official name): A set of 6 small croissants, pain au chocolat, and brioche, 2 of each.
- Guu de Champignon: A Danish pastry with mushrooms, including shiitake, eringi, and shimeji, along with ham and a small amount of cheese. It's a limited edition item for autumn and winter, with a subtle aroma of each mushroom.
- Fruit Cake: In French, it would be Gateau aux Fruits. Compared to other shops, this cake has a generous amount of fruit and a nice aroma. Pastries from hotel pastry shops often tend to be elegant and small, but this shop offers a good value, especially with the amount of fruit. Although I didn't see it this time, they also have nostalgic items like yakisoba bread, making it an enjoyable shop with a variety of options.

A patisserie shop located on the first floor of the First Hotel Tokyo, about 2-3 minutes from JR Shinbashi Station. They sell not only wagashi but also bread. Mont Blanc, a small-sized French dessert. The base is a tart, with chestnut cream inside, whipped cream, and chestnuts on top. The balance of cream is good, with a nice flavor and sweetness. La France Chocolat, a cake that combines the elegant taste of European pear with the rich taste of chocolate. The pear compote on top is fresh and beautiful. The first half has the flavor of pear, while the second half has the flavor of chocolate. Croissant au Beurre, with a simple flavor of butter and a crispy texture. Perfect for a higher level breakfast at the hotel. European Curry Pan, a curry pan with croissant dough. Not very spicy, with a mild European curry flavor. Apple Roll Pie, with apple cooked to retain its texture inside the pie crust, allowing you to enjoy the refreshing flavor of apple. Although the patisserie is located in the hotel, the lack of a welcoming atmosphere is disappointing. The cakes and bread were of hotel quality, so I hope they continue to strive for improvement.

I have been coming to this hotel since they rebuilt the new building, so I have eaten the bread here more than 200 times. Even after quitting my job as a salaryman, whenever I have a reason to pass by, I buy the bread here. I may be a bit biased in my rating due to nostalgia, but please understand. The cakes here are delicious too, but the bread has a gentle taste. I like the Danish bread, but if they have sourdough bread available, I buy it right away. They have different breads depending on the time of day, so I usually buy a lot and freeze them to enjoy later. The sweet breads are also delicious, so there are no disappointments. This time, I bought stollen for a gift and for myself. The small stollen cost 1400 yen and came in a cute wrapping, which made me very happy.

I visited a tonkatsu and curry restaurant called GS for some katsu curry, then enjoyed coffee and pudding at Heckeln, and decided to stop by this bakery and cake shop to get something to take home. It was quite hot outside, so I opted for bread instead of cake. Inside the shop, there weren't many options, but I picked up a Raisin Bread for 220 yen and an Azuki Bean Bread for 220 yen each, tax included. The Raisin Bread was recommended, so I decided to have it with some tea at home. It was filled with raisins, but the bread itself was nothing special, more like something you'd find at a hotel breakfast. The Azuki Bean Bread, which I thought was chocolate, turned out to be a red bean paste bread. It had a mild sweetness to it and was easy to eat, but it didn't have any surprising elements. Overall, it was a comforting taste, but nothing extraordinary. Thank you for the meal.

The jelly coating on top of the 2019 Christmas cake was sticky and made it difficult to cut with a knife.

I used it as a tea snack when visiting a friend's house. I bought two red dome-shaped apple-like cakes Mont Blanc. The sweetness is just right for me, but the red cake had a strong sourness from the berries. The Mont Blanc was delicious as usual. However, I found the customer service a bit disappointing. There were various types of cakes and I couldn't decide, so I asked the staff for advice, but they weren't very helpful. In the end, I chose the apple-like one because of its cute appearance and the Mont Blanc because it's a safe choice. I wish they would give more information about the products and have a better understanding of them. The price is not too high considering it's located in a hotel, and I would like to visit again if I have the chance.
