- Restaurant Name: Sushi Dokoro Kaihara - Location: Temma Station, Tenjinbashi Rokucho Station - Budget: 8000-9000 yen - Ordered Menu: Omakase Course Just a 3-minute walk from Temma Station towards Tenroku, next to a butcher near Temma Market, stands the cool and stylish sushi restaurant, Sushi Dokoro Kaihara. The head chef has over 20 years of experience as a sushi chef, with 13 years of independence. Reservations are possible by phone only, and it seems that it is relatively easy to get a reservation around 5 pm on weekdays. In my case, I called on a Monday and was able to make a reservation for 3 people on Friday at 5 pm that same week. Just for reference. The restaurant has only 8 counter seats, and the course is based on the chef's omakase, tailored to the day's ingredients and seasonal items. The menu I ordered included: - 3 appetizers - 8 pieces of nigiri sushi You can also order additional nigiri and drinks during the course. The appetizers for the day were: 1. Turnip Soup: A gentle and creamy flavor. 2. Crab and Spinach Vinegar Dish: A well-balanced sweetness with a flavorful crab. 3. Grilled Conger Eel and Daikon Chawanmushi: A rich and savory dish with a fragrant grilled eel. As for the nigiri sushi: 1. Bigfin Reef Squid: Melts in your mouth with a rich umami flavor. 2. Seared Horse Mackerel: Enhanced umami with a nice sear. 3. Halfbeak with Plum Paste: Elegant flavor with added acidity that pairs well with the vinegared rice. 4. Marinated Tuna: Slight lingering fishiness but overall delicious. 5. Beltfish: Lightly seared with a refreshing citrusy flavor. 6. Fatty Tuna with Foam Soy Sauce: Exceptionally melt-in-your-mouth texture. 7. Yellowtail: Perfect, with a good balance of fat. 8. Prawn: Carefully prepared with a good texture. I also ordered an additional piece of "live conger eel," lightly seared and served with lemon. It had a great chewy texture and was delicious. The sushi rice was made mild to complement the toppings. With the above course, a bottle of beer and two glasses of sake, the total cost per person was around 8000 yen. I was very satisfied, and I was impressed by the incredible value that you wouldn't find in Tokyo. Sushi is truly amazing! I still have more places to explore in Osaka. Thank you for the wonderful meal. I will definitely come back.

The taste was excellent and the cost performance was also great! They use dashi skillfully, which is wonderful. I could feel that from the beginning and it continued in the sushi. I added about 4 extra items to the omakase course this time. There are hidden items not included in the omakase course. The live conger eel was the best dish of the day! They also have a variety of drinks available.

This was my first visit to Kaigen-san in 21 years. We started with the Hamo fish head soup, which was perfect for the still hot weather. The broth in all the side dishes was delicious. The Biwamasu sushi was new to me and had just the right amount of fat. The marinated red tuna had a bit too many sinews and a slightly fishy smell. The sweet shrimp was sweet and paired well with the egg yolk soy sauce. The scallop was thick and had a great texture. The seared saury and cutlassfish were flavorful with a nice balance of fat. I also added the oysters from Akkeshi, which had a unique balsamic-like acidity. Although they raised their prices for the first time in 12 years last year, the quality and service are still exceptional. The chef even remembered me from my frequent visits years ago, and it was a special experience chatting with him while enjoying the delicious sushi. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

On this day, we went to see Alegria as part of my mother's birthday plan, and afterwards, we visited here. I had been interested in this place for over a year since I found it on meets, and finally got the chance to go! We went with the omakase course, which included a cold tomato and cucumber soup, boiled watercress, squid, sea bass, belt fish (lightly seared), marinated tuna, grilled mackerel with green chili pepper, grilled barracuda, fatty tuna with foam soy sauce, sweet shrimp, and scallop. I may have made a mistake in remembering some of the dishes, so I apologize if that's the case. For drinks, my mother had a bottle of Asahi beer and two plum wine sodas, while I had a plum wine soda, Gohyakumangoku sake, and Koigawa sake. We let the chef choose the sake based on our preferences, starting with a dry sake upon request and then asking for a recommendation for the second one, to which the chef replied, "They're all recommended." However, when we asked for a specific recommendation, he happily accommodated our request. Despite the popularity of the restaurant, the chef had a good demeanor and maintained a comfortable distance, making our experience very pleasant. We continued to order additional dishes, including live eel, sea urchin, octopus, grilled belt fish, and scallions, and both of us were extremely satisfied with the sushi. While price isn't the most important factor, the cost was reasonable at less than 10,000 yen per person, making it a great value. We would love to visit again in the future. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I visited this restaurant on a special day! It is located in the lively area of Temma, but the entrance has a nice atmosphere and the restaurant itself is calm with only a counter. Reservations are a must! I tried the omakase course and added some items that caught my eye. The dishes included: - Three types of appetizers - Tomato-based cold soup: refreshing and delicious for summer - Sawara fish soup with green chili pepper: has a spicy kick with a flavorful fish broth - Others (I forgot, haha) - The sushi pieces were small and very easy to eat! I had squid, sawara, kamasu, marinated tuna, toro, sweet shrimp, scallop, simmered conger eel (I forgot one more, haha). They were all delicious, but my favorites were the squid: sweet and tasty, sweet shrimp: delicious, and simmered conger eel: incredibly tender! The owner was also very kind and warm. This restaurant offers fantastic quality and value for money! I'm interested in trying their sake next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

On this day, I went to Sushidokoro Kaihara in Osaka Temma for dinner. It is located just a short walk from Temma Station. The restaurant has a lovely exterior that is quite different from the usual Temma style, and it is even listed in the Michelin Bib Gourmand guide. The course meal includes 3 creative dishes and 8 pieces of nigiri sushi, all at a reasonable price with great value for money. You can enjoy the sushi at the counter. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

It was quite difficult to get a reservation, so I booked a visit for Tuesday at 8:00 PM. The restaurant was fully booked, as expected. They only offered an omakase course for 4,500 yen, which I found to be a great value. The omakase course included appetizers like yuba with grated yam and seaweed, as well as sushi selections like squid, sea bream, horse mackerel, marinated tuna, barracuda, scallop, and sweet shrimp with egg yolk soy sauce. The squid had a mysterious melt-in-your-mouth texture, and the generous portions of sweet shrimp and well-marinated tuna were served at a good pace. While high-end sushi restaurants with prices in the tens of thousands may be intimidating, this sushi restaurant offered a satisfying experience that exceeded its price in terms of quality and ambiance.

"Simple is best" - The atmosphere and interior are very calm. There is a quiet chef. Despite being open for over 10 years, the place feels very clean. The meal starts with two appetizers, followed by a sushi omakase menu. You can only order additional items from the omakase menu! The price, taste, and atmosphere are all top-notch and satisfying.

I remember when Mr. Kaihara started his business 12 years ago, he introduced a course priced at an amazing 3800 yen, which was the first of its kind in Osaka. The sushi served was of high quality, similar to that of a luxury restaurant, and the atmosphere at the counter felt upscale as well. I was surprised by the price considering the quality. I have visited occasionally since then, and today I went back after a long time. The taste of the sushi has not changed at all. The appetizers seem to have improved a bit. Initially, we were served 3 dishes and 9 pieces of sushi with various types of seasonal fish. The chef is working alone but manages to serve the sushi promptly. We were told that we had up to 2 hours to dine, which was enough time to enjoy our meal comfortably. The total cost for one person, including highballs and oolong tea, was around 6500 yen. This price is reasonable for the quality of food served. Nowadays, it seems like sushi restaurants with reservation difficulties are charging over 30,000 yen, with some even reaching 40,000 to 50,000 yen. Personally, I think these prices are too high. If I were to pay that much for sushi, I would rather go to a different type of restaurant. It feels like Osaka is experiencing a sushi bubble. I believe that only the establishments offering reasonable prices will survive in the long run, and I think Mr. Kaihara's restaurant is one of them.

The tea lacked flavor and did not meet expectations. The overall experience was disappointing. The restaurant is clean and has a sophisticated atmosphere. It is easy to overlook the place from the surroundings. It would be nice if the chef had a bit more friendliness, as the counter seating allows for interaction.

I visited the restaurant after a long time and enjoyed the Michelin sushi with great cost performance as always. The highlight of this place starts after finishing the Omakase course for 5,000 yen. With additional orders, we had a total of 17 pieces of sushi and 3 other dishes for less than 10,000 yen per person, which was impressive. I always think this place deserves higher ratings on Tabelog. I trust Michelin's judgment. LOL

The unassuming entrance may make you overlook this place, but inside, you'll find a small shop with only a counter where a skilled artisan chef runs the show. The quality of the ingredients is high, and I was very satisfied with the precise knife work. This quiet spot may not be suitable for large groups or loud gatherings.

I made a reservation at a sushi restaurant that was selected as a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its good value for money in December last year. The counter has only 8 seats and they offer a course for ¥3850, but unfortunately when I went in February, the price had increased to ¥4500. The restaurant is located in a bustling shopping street in Temma, but once you step inside, it's a clean and beautiful space, like entering a different world. The course included dishes like whitefish soup, smoked scallop with white cabbage puree, aged squid, Spanish mackerel, flounder, marinated tuna, spinach and crab chawanmushi, cutlassfish, and fatty tuna with foam soy sauce. I also added Hokkaido sea urchin as an extra, which was served with seaweed on top and had a soft sweetness typical of Hokkaido sea urchin. The rice was slightly warm and soft, showing the chef's meticulous work. Overall, I felt that the sushi was well-prepared and reasonably priced. The chef was friendly and easy to talk to, contrary to what I had read in other reviews about him being unfriendly.

■Location: 2 minutes walk from Temma Station on the JR Osaka Loop Line ■Purpose of visit: Dinner with friends ■Overview: This restaurant, which has been awarded the Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Osaka 2022, offers a satisfying dining experience at a reasonable price. The set course, priced at 4,500 yen, includes a bottle of beer, 2 servings of sake, and an additional piece of sushi, all for less than 8,000 yen. We enjoyed the counter sushi quietly nestled at the end of one of Osaka's top drinking districts. ■Course: - Kabu (turnip) soup - Crab and spinach vinegar dish - Bigfin reef squid, mackerel, saury, topped with plum - Grilled tuna - Steamed conger eel and daikon radish - Cutlassfish - Fatty tuna with foam soy sauce - Yellowtail, shrimp, raw conger eel - 2 types of Japanese sake ■Impressions: I have mentioned this many times, but this counter sushi offers the best cost performance. While the appetizers are limited to just 3 items, the sushi itself is top-notch. The vinegar in the rice is not too strong, allowing the flavors of the toppings to shine through, resulting in simply delicious sushi. The knife work on the toppings was precise, making them tender and melt-in-your-mouth. This restaurant is perfect for enjoying authentic sushi at a reasonable price. I will definitely visit again when I'm in Osaka. Thank you for the meal. ■Visit rating: 3.58

■ Overview Night out in Osaka. We had decided to have a drink in Tenma beforehand, and luckily managed to make a reservation at this restaurant, so we visited. It was around 5:00 pm on a weekday, and the place was full, indicating its popularity. ■ Menu We ordered the omakase course with additional items of conger eel and thread-sail filefish. As it was a Michelin Bib Gourmand-selected restaurant, we had high expectations, and the quality exceeded them. Despite the lively atmosphere of the Tenma neighborhood, stepping into the restaurant, you find yourself in a quiet, cozy space. The sushi was meticulously prepared and incredibly delicious. I would definitely revisit this restaurant when I come back to Osaka. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I was invited by a regular customer to visit "Sushidokoro Kaihara," located near JR Temma Station. The restaurant is called "Kaihara," pronounced as "kaihara." It is a Bib Gourmand restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide Osaka. I have known about this place for about 10 years, but this was my first time visiting, and I was filled with excitement as I opened the door. They offer an "omakase course" for 4,500 yen, and you can also order additional items a la carte. I started with a Kirin Ichiban Shibori beer for a toast. The glass was so thin, like a light bulb! The meal began with a thick turnip soup, warming me up. The appetizer featured delicious crab, subtly fragrant squid with yuzu, seared yellowtail, and flounder, all bursting with flavor. I switched to a highball with Nikka's Yoichi whiskey, which had a strong peaty aroma. The meal continued with a steamed egg custard with marinated tuna and grilled conger eel, followed by seared young yellowtail. The meal ended with sweet shrimp. I also ordered a filefish, which was delicious, with its liver intact. The bill came to 7,200 yen. The restaurant has a discreet facade, truly a hidden gem. It's a popular spot that's hard to get a reservation at.

We had a private reservation. Although there was a wide selection of Japanese sake and shochu, as it was a wine club gathering, we brought our own wine. The restaurant provided wine glasses for us. We were served a continuous stream of appetizers, making us wonder when the sushi would arrive. We ran out of wine because we were enjoying the food so much. It was a satisfying night with full stomachs. We would like to visit this place seasonally.

Hidden just a little off the beaten path from the Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street, this sushi restaurant is a gem that I recently revisited after a long time. The interior is simple, with just a counter. The set courses are reasonably priced, but the quality is top-notch, leaving me very satisfied. The turnip soup was sweet and flavorful. The spinach and crab vinegar dish was refreshing. The sushi, starting with squid, was sticky, sweet, and thick, showcasing the skillful knife work that brought out a strong sweetness. The rice was subtly sweet with a gentle saltiness. The mackerel had a fragrant aroma. The flounder was rich in umami with a lingering aroma. The pickled fish had concentrated umami with a hint of acidity. The steamed egg custard was light and combined the delicate fish with plum for a refreshing umami. The fatty tuna melted in the mouth, with the soy sauce foam enhancing the richness. The bonito had a light fat content. The scallop had a rich sweetness complemented by the umami from the claw. I also added some fresh conger eel, lightly seared to bring out its sweetness. The octopus was tender and melt-in-your-mouth. The oyster was packed with intense umami.

I've been itching to go to this place for a while, and I wanted to go in July. I called and was told there were no openings for 6 or 7 pm, but I could reserve for 9 pm. Since that was too late, I gave up. But this time, after a concert by Nagabuchi Tsuyoshi, the timing was perfect! I made a reservation for 9 pm. I arrived early and waited outside until 9 pm to enter. At first, there was a bit of tension, but I couldn't help but smile at the carefully prepared sushi that kept coming one after another. The menu is similar to what others have posted, but the side dishes seem to change each time. I had the omakase course for 3,850 yen, which included three side dishes and 8 pieces of sushi. I also added two bottles of beer and two glasses of cold sake, as well as anago sushi and anago simmered. In total, it came to 8,500 yen! I had heard that additional orders and drinks could bring the total to 7,000-8,000 yen, so I was prepared for it. The additional charges were a bit high, but I couldn't resist trying more delicious food. I had anago sushi for the first time and was impressed by its crispy texture. The richness of the sardines was irresistible! Since there was no menu with prices, I was worried about splitting the bill later, so I asked for separate checks when making the reservation. It turned out to be the right decision since we ordered different items. I highly recommend doing this. My friend's bill for the course, oolong tea, and additional orders of turban shell and green onion came to exactly 6,000 yen. The sushi seemed to be around 1,000 yen each. The dishes came out quickly, so the stay was relatively short. I already feel like going back again!

Near Temma Station, there is a sushi restaurant called Sanma Kurokoge Shokudo. They offer an omakase course for 3,850 yen, which includes dishes like yuba with grated yam, octopus and cucumber vinegar, swordfish, sea bass, marinated tuna, sweet shrimp with egg yolk soy sauce, and more. The reviewer enjoyed the dishes, especially the tuna, marinated tuna, and simmered conger eel. They also added extra orders of salmon, simmered conger eel, tuna, and squid. The total bill for one person, including two cups of oolong tea and extra orders, came to 8,000 yen. The reviewer noted that the additional orders were a bit pricy, and the course finished in just 30 minutes. The chef, though appearing serious, was actually friendly and easy to talk to. This restaurant is recommended as the first stop for a night of hopping in Temma.

While strolling around Tenma, I, a suspicious-looking Okappiki from Suita, decided to take a chance and contact a recommended shop. Thanks to a last-minute cancellation, I miraculously managed to get a seat and headed to the restaurant right away. The master, whom I met for the first time, seemed nervous at first, but surprisingly turned out to be quite friendly. The rumored course for 3,500 yen excluding tax included the following dishes: corn soup, conger eel and summer vegetables with plum vinegar, squid, barracuda, sockeye salmon, marinated tuna, grilled mackerel with ginger sauce, sardine, fatty tuna with foam soy sauce, and sweet shrimp with egg yolk soy sauce. The fact that the master single-handedly prepares all these dishes for a 3,500 yen course is truly impressive. However, I found the rice to be a bit bland and lacking in flavor. It might be considered luxurious to expect more sharpness, but I believe that such expectations contribute to the sushi boom. Keep up the good work. Currently rated 3.57 on Tabelog.
