Tachikawa Station South Exit, a little over 5 minutes away, a new branch of the popular stew restaurant Kotaro has opened in Hachioji. Finally, I visited on a weekday night and sat at the counter. The place was crowded with regular customers, and the atmosphere was cozy with the staff chatting and watching a baseball game on TV. It's a nice place to relax, away from the busy streets near the station. I ordered a draft beer for 600 yen, a lemon sour for 450 yen, and celery for 450 yen. The stew, which the staff highly recommended, came in four flavors: miso, spicy miso, curry, and salt. I decided to try three flavors for 700 yen, excluding the curry. The stew was rich and creamy, with tender beef tripe and green onions. You can add cabbage or tofu for an additional 200 yen. The stew had a great depth of flavor and was not too overpowering. I especially liked the salt flavor with a tangy kick from grated ginger. The spicy miso was not too spicy but had a rich and bold taste. I preferred it over the regular miso. They also offered a variety of skewers ranging from 110 yen to 260 yen. The skewers were brought to the table hot and the sauce was on the sweeter side with a hint of spiciness. The staff was attentive and made sure to explain each skewer when serving. Overall, I had a great dining experience with delicious stew and skewers, and I would definitely recommend this place.

There is a counter and a table inside, and also a table outside. The stewed offal is delicious.

I visited this place as my second stop, where I had been before. As soon as I walked in, the owner greeted me warmly. It was half-price drink day, and the explanation was given to me as soon as I sat down. The owner also explained the menu to me in detail. I ordered their recommended motsu (offal) and grilled skewers, and when the dishes arrived, they were explained to me as well. The warmth of the owner and the lady at the restaurant made it a cozy place, and they even interacted with the customers. I went with two other people and felt like we ordered quite a lot, but the total bill was around 6,000 yen, making it a great value for money. It's a nice izakaya where you can relax and enjoy a drink, located a bit away from the station.

A yakitori restaurant named Yakitori Kotaro opened around June near Tachikawa Minami Station. Their specialty is simmered dishes. I arrived around 6:15 pm and could smell the delicious charcoal grilling from outside. The restaurant had red lanterns outside and typical yakitori seating inside with counter and table options. We ordered the simmered dishes as they are the restaurant's specialty - there are four types: (1) Miso simmered, (2) Spicy simmered, (3) Curry simmered, (4) Salt simmered. Since we were three people, we ordered (2), (3), and (4) along with a salad. We enjoyed the salad with lettuce and tomatoes while having a beer. The simmered dishes arrived in about 10 minutes. The spicy simmered dish wasn't as spicy as expected but was delicious. The curry simmered dish had a great curry flavor and tender pieces. My favorite was the salt simmered dish - it had a light salt taste and the broth was amazing. We also ordered various yakitori which were all excellent. You can choose between salt or sauce for each yakitori skewer. Overall, the simmered dishes and beer were the highlight of the meal. The only disappointment was the single tomato we ordered, which wasn't very tasty and was a bit expensive at 450 yen. In conclusion, the simmered dishes and beer are a must-try at this restaurant. I would definitely come back for a gathering next time. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The takeout from this yakitori restaurant is served on skewers instead of being made into a yakitori rice bowl like many others. Each skewer is delicious. Personally, I prefer the salt flavor, but the sweet sauce is also tasty. The grilling technique is very skillful. The prices are reasonable and I am very satisfied. They also offer simmered dishes for takeout, so there is no need to worry. I like spicy food. Even for those who find it difficult to visit during the pandemic, I highly recommend using their takeout service.
