I visited "Wagyu Yakiniku Ushimaru" in May 2023, which specializes in high-quality domestic wagyu beef, with a rating of 3.07 on Tabelog (based on 19 reviews). I chose to sit at the open terrace seat this time, but they also have sunken kotatsu tables for banquets and completely private rooms! The "Girls' Night Out Course" includes ajillo, five types of meat, and all-you-can-drink for 5,000 yen, with various other courses available. Here is what I ordered a la carte:
- Draft beer 600 yen
- Bottled beer (Kirin Ichiban Shibori) 650 yen
- Bottled beer (Sapporo Black Label) 650 yen
- Kimchi assortment 748 yen
- Special thick-cut tongue 2,178 yen
- Special Toro beef and sea urchin yukhoe 1,958 yen
- Upper Harami 1,320 yen
- Ushimaru soup (for 2 people) 1,000 yen
- Kaonomi 1,382 yen
- Upper Bara 1,320 yen
- Special Toro beef dashi chazuke 1,045 yen
- Bibim noodles 1,023 yen
Cheers with a draft beer first! They have bottled beers from various companies, so beer lovers will be delighted. The kimchi assortment with napa cabbage, cucumber, and daikon was just the right amount of spiciness and went well with the beer. The special thick-cut tongue was tender and juicy with a satisfying thickness. The special Toro beef and sea urchin yukhoe was a masterpiece with beautifully marbled loin, sea urchin, and daikon radish on top. Mixing the loin and sea urchin with the special sauce was a delight!
The Upper Harami was simple yet delicious, and the Ushimaru soup made from meat and leeks was rich and brought out the flavor of the meat. The Kaonomi had a good balance of tender lean meat and refreshing fatty meat, while the Upper Bara had a spread of flavor without being too greasy. The Bibim noodles were quite spicy, and although I only had a little, it was mostly eaten by someone else. The special Toro beef dashi chazuke, where you pour broth over a layer of beef so thick you can't see the rice, melted the fat and was incredibly delicious.
Thank you for the feast!
