Do you all know about the dish called "Muugata"? It means "Mu: pork" and "Gata: shallow pot," and it's a popular Thai hot pot dish that combines yakiniku (grilled meat) and shabu-shabu. I visited the place out of curiosity as it's gaining popularity. - All-you-can-eat Muugata (2,499 yen) - All-you-can-drink (2,299 yen) Ingredients: Various pork meats, chicken, chicken liver, squid, shrimp, white fish, sausages, Thai processed foods, various vegetables, tofu, glass noodles, and more. You can pick your favorites buffet-style. How to eat: The hot pot looks like a Mongolian barbecue pot. You pour Thai soup into the grooves around it, and you can enjoy grilled meat on the top round part. I thought the hot pot would be the star, but the soup was amazing! The soup, made with pork broth, has a unique Asian flavor but no overpowering taste, and it's so delicious. When you add processed foods or fish, they become soft and absorb the soup. As you eat, the soup absorbs the fat and umami from the meat, creating a devilishly delicious soup. Nam Chim: A must-have Thai sauce that is sweet, sour, and spicy. - Red: A sauce with garlic and a Tabasco-like acidity that goes well with meat. - Green: A sauce with a strong spicy flavor like habanero and a punchy garlic taste. It goes well with both grilled meat and shabu-shabu, so you can enjoy them alternately. For dessert, they offer a popular Thai coconut milk dessert buffet where you can choose your favorite toppings. - All-you-can-drink alcohol plan: The drinks are served in plastic cups, giving it a street food vibe. You can also enjoy coconut juice and Thai tea as soft drinks. In conclusion, it's a delicious and entertaining hot pot experience! You can enjoy a variety of vegetables, meats, and seafood while feeling the Thai vibes, making it a cost-effective option. - Shop: The shop is located about 3 minutes from Shinjuku Station West Exit, in the basement of a building. The elevator might be a bit tricky to find, adding to the fun exploration feeling. The interior of the shop, opened in December 2022, is compact but very clean. The flags hanging from the ceiling and the tables and chairs remind you of Thai street stalls. The restaurant has about 4 locations in Tokyo and seems to be gaining popularity. It's exciting to enjoy a fun and healthy meal that lets you experience foreign countries. They also offer Thai dishes like Gapao and Green Curry for lunch. Give it a try! ✨

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cute with a local street food vibe. However, it gets extremely hot in July, especially with multiple tables using table stoves. If they could just turn up the air conditioning a bit more, it would be perfect! They have a self-service all-you-can-eat style where you can pick your own ingredients. There are two types of sauces available, both not too spicy. They also provide chopped garlic upon request, so I need to check if they can provide chopped chili next time. I ordered the som tam a la carte, and it was mildly spicy and quite delicious. Perfect for snacking. Since it's in the basement, there's no cellphone reception, but they offer Wi-Fi for customers.

Mugata 99-minute buffet style all-you-can-eat + all-you-can-drink. First, try putting meat on the iron plate and grilling it like yakiniku. This is a normal yakiniku, but there is a moat around it. You can pour broth in here and make it like a hot pot. The broth is a gentle Chinese-style soup, or rather, it's close to a Japanese-style broth. It's really delicious. When you simmer the vegetables in this broth, they become really tasty. The vegetables cooked in this broth are delicious. The fat from the grilled meat melts into the soup and adds flavor. You can grill or simmer your choice of meat and seafood, making it a fun and interesting experience. It's healthy and you can keep eating more. They also provide spicy condiments and sauces for ethnic flavor variations. Personally, I really liked the fluffy white fish. The glass noodles and imitation crab were delicious. The pork slices and chicken were my favorite meats. I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh everything was. It was quite enjoyable - not just yakiniku, not just shabu-shabu, but a mix of both.

【Mookata All-You-Can-Eat】Thai National Dish Mookata *Mookata is a Thai national dish that combines barbecue and hot pot. This time, we enjoyed it buffet style where you can self-serve meat and vegetables. Whether you prefer grilling the meat or having it in the hot pot, it's up to you! The oil from the grilled meat mixes into the broth, enhancing the flavor. The sauce is not your typical barbecue sauce, but a spicy red one. It's not as spicy as it looks, so you can enjoy plenty of Mookata to your heart's content! The restaurant has a Thai street food vibe. Why not try experiencing Thailand's national dish? ★Ordered Items: - Mookata All-You-Can-Eat Buffet Style (99 minutes) 2748 yen Follow me on Instagram for more Tokyo gourmet recommendations! This is a common food in Thailand called "Moo Kata", where you can enjoy barbecue and Thai hot pot together in a Mongolian-style pot. - All-you-can-eat Moo Kata for 99 minutes at 2,748 yen. No rules, just freedom! The seasoned meat is recommended to be grilled. You can choose to grill or boil the other ingredients as you like. The shabu-shabu part comes with a light pork soup to enhance the flavor. - Buffet corner: The buffet corner offers a wide variety of meats, seafood, processed foods, vegetables, and desserts. The large shrimp adds richness to the soup when boiled in shabu-shabu style. It is recommended to put the shrimp heads in the soup after peeling them. - Sauces: Nam Jim Talay (green sauce) is a spicy and garlicky sauce that goes well with seafood, meat, and vegetables. Nam Chim Dang (red sauce) has a flavor similar to Sriracha sauce and pairs well with meat. - Interior: When the elevator doors open, you are transported to Thailand. There are Japanese and Thai customers, perhaps because the taste is close to the original. With affordable prices, a wide variety of meat options including seafood, and an authentic taste, this place is highly recommended for those who love ethnic cuisine. There are also branches in Yushima and Asakusa besides Shinjuku.

After finishing up my business at the NS Building, it was time for lunch. I was planning to head to Geuchai in the east exit, but as I was walking towards the west exit, I spotted a sign for a Thai restaurant. The sign read "MOOKATA," indicating that it was a specialty Thai restaurant that also offers lunch dishes like Gapao during lunchtime. While Gapao Gai (chicken Gapao) is more common in Japan, they also had Gapao Moo (pork Gapao) which caught my attention. Taking the elevator down to the basement, I was surprised to find a Thai alleyway when the doors opened. The entrance already had a fun street food vibe, making it an enjoyable experience. They offered nine lunch options, and I decided to go for the Crispy Pork Gapao. It was exciting to see that they used Moo Krob for the Gapao, which is not something you come across often. The salad, soup, and dessert were self-service, so I loaded up my salad with plenty of vegetables. The soup was filled with ingredients and had a fresh celery aroma. For dessert, I had Tapioca Milk, which was easy to eat with plenty of tapioca pearls in a mildly sweet coconut milk. I could hear the kitchen bustling with the sound of stir-frying, and soon enough, my Gapao was ready. It was filled with Moo Krob, bell peppers, onions, and Gapao leaves clustered at the bottom. Drizzled with Prick Nam Pla on top of Kai Dao, it was time to dig in! The crispy Moo Krob added a nice texture, and the seasoning, probably based on Thai soy sauce, had a slightly sweet and light flavor. I requested it to be spicy, so the occasional kick of chili peppers added a delightful heat to the dish. Overall, it was a fantastic Gapao, and I look forward to trying the Gapao Talay (seafood Gapao) next time! Perhaps I'll come back at night to try their Mookata (Thai BBQ + hot pot) as well. The Thai restaurants in Shinjuku West Exit, like "Bangkok Spice" and "Gapao Shokudo," are really stepping up their game, and I'm excited about it!

I had my first experience at a Mongolian barbecue restaurant! I was so excited when I arrived! The restaurant was right there as soon as I got off the elevator! I was surprised! The staff, including the manager, were very friendly and provided great customer service. The manager explained that the pantry where you get the ingredients is also part of the Mongolian barbecue experience. It was truly a fun atmosphere! I definitely want to go back!

I like it. It's like a hybrid to be able to enjoy both yakiniku and hot pot at the same time. The slightly dashi soup with spices, and adding vinegar to make it Tom Yum Kung style. It's addictive. I will definitely come back alone next time. Thank you for the meal.

A new Thai restaurant has opened in the back area of Yodobashi West Exit. At night, it turns into a Thai yakiniku restaurant, offering dishes like lukchin. They also have a variety of one-dish items suitable for izakaya-style dining. For lunch, they serve various types of gapao dishes. During a recent visit to Bonbori, I discovered that they had started offering weekday lunch specials, so I decided to check it out. I tried the limited edition crispy pork gapao for 1300 yen. It came with a side of cold dish, salad, soup, and tapioca, all self-service. The dish arrived in less than 10 minutes. The outside was crispy while the inside was juicy. The thick slices of pork were piled high, providing a satisfying meal. The dish also included onions, bell peppers, paprika, and basil. The spicy seasoning was delicious, and even though I usually don't like paprika, I enjoyed it. When I visited around 1 pm, the restaurant was almost full, but by 1:30 pm, it was completely packed. I left feeling full and satisfied. The cost performance was great. I look forward to trying the seafood gapao next time.

I visited the Thai restaurant "MOOKATA Shinjuku Branch" located on the B1F of a building on the central street in the bustling area of the west exit of JR Shinjuku Station. This was my first time visiting during lunchtime in late January. Although the online store information stated that they only operate at night, I saw on Instagram that they also serve lunch, so I tried to visit twice during lunchtime before finally being able to enter on this day. The Thai-style half-open store interior had table seating for a total of 30 people. I was seated at a table for two. Most of the other customers were women. The restaurant was run by two Thai staff members. I looked at the lunch menu on the table. The lunch menu consisted of various Gapaos, and on that day, I ordered the "Century Egg Gapao" (1319 yen including tax) with a topping of a fried egg (110 yen including tax). I helped myself to the salad, soup, and water at the self-service counter and then waited for the food to arrive. The "Century Egg Gapa" is called "Kai Yow Ma Gapao" in Thai. In Japan, "Gapao" typically refers to a minced chicken and holy basil stir-fry, but there are various types of Gapao stir-fries in Thailand, and I particularly love this Century Egg Gapao. I mixed the rice and ingredients well with a fork and spoon in the Thai style and started eating. The basil aroma was excellent, and the meat was flavorful and delicious. The fried century egg had a fluffy texture and was tasty without any unpleasant smell. The portion was a bit small for me as it only had half of a cut egg, and as someone who enjoys spicy flavors, I found it wasn't very spicy. I noticed later that there was "Prik Nam Pla" (chili fish sauce) on the self-service counter for adjusting the spiciness, but I didn't want to bother getting it. I realized that I could have asked for it to be spicier when ordering. I will make sure to do that next time. I finished the meal soon after. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Gapao rice, the price differs depending on whether the meat is pork or chicken. I chose the cheapest option, which is chicken. I didn't expect Gapao rice to be spicy, but it was quite spicy so be careful. Surprisingly, the fried egg is an additional charge. I was surprised because I thought Gapao rice always came with a fried egg on top. The salad and soup in the lunch set are self-service, so you can eat as much as you like. The soup had chunks of daikon, thinly sliced carrots, and minced garlic, giving it a stew-like texture. It was quite garlicky and delicious, but more like a stew than a traditional soup. The vegetables were soft and tasty.

I love pork more than all-you-can-eat beef at this Thai-style yakiniku restaurant. It was a great time listening to the wonderful songs by the musicians. It seems like the song service is only available on weekends... Of course, I want to come back to this restaurant again! ✨
